The future of America where corporations have as much power as governments who are locked in Mortal Kombat has come to pass. It’s a very interesting vision of the future that I had not considered occurring on earth. Usually the future where the corporations are able to enslave the masses involves the distant future where corporations own planets, This scary vision of America is quite enticing to read about. I love the characters and the love story between the two main characters. I was a little disappointed with the sexual encounters . Ms. Redhawk has a profound ability to entice in the area of romance with two people falling in love, but since this was love at first sight, I feel like the first actual encounter was anti-climatic. She made the connection seem possible and I do believe in love at first sight because I’ve experienced it, but to really make me feel the connection between the two main characters, I felt like I needed a little more. I Was completely tantalized from the first kiss and the description was hot and heavy then and they wake up the next morning and that was very frustrating and disappointing. I’m not saying that I have to have explicit sex in a book, though I do enjoy. I just felt that having something more expressed sexually between the two main characters, especially their first time together, would have solidified their love at first sight connection. Ms. Redhawk I hope your reading this! I am waiting for the sequel!
I've enjoyed the sci-fi part of the book more than the romance part of the book. Fast paced plot, mostly concentrated around Sam's mission to courier data for Canada GovMin to US. Sam's convoy was attacked, and luckily she was saved by Dusky, who was the leader of Lichii BaCho. Because the plot was literally spanning over just a few days/ weeks, when the romance hits, it feels kind of rushed. Other than that, this is quite a fun read and reminds me a little bit of a very old movie Johnny Mnemonic (but better).
