This is my new favorite Sterek fic!
As one who has watched the TV show in its entirety I can confidently say that Important Things is the most true portrayal of Stiles I have ever read.
I loved this fic. LOVED. All because of Stiles. In all his adorkable glory. The author captured the true essence of him. The other characters were done true to form as well but not to the extent of Stiles.
So, if you love Stiles as much as I do, you should read this fic.
Ain't that right, Stiles?

3.5 A fic in which everyone assumes that Stiles and Derek are in some sort of relationship except..they're not. I don't have to tell you how much potential awesomeness a trope like that offers! And there were plenty humorous moments in Important Things. Stiles's dad in particular totally stole the show. Especially during the scene in which he reluctantly invites Derek over to 'discuss' his son's sort-of-relationship with him.
And for a long time this was a solid 4 star read for me. Until the last 50 pages (of 200). I grew disappointed with the increasingly uninteresting storyline, that could no longer disguise the insufficient UST and chemistry between Sterek. The 'waiting game' (Stiles is 17 in this fic, c'mon now!) felt a bit unreal and Stiles referring to 'hot sex' with Derek led to me browsing back to see if I'd missed anything.
Overall, a fun and fast read that flowed on nicely and even had a plot going. My fellow Sterekkies, you should definitely check this one out. Just don't expect too much in terms of sizzling hawt Sterek lovin'.

The sound of a throat clearing made them turn their heads, staring at where Dad was standing in the doorway to the living room. Immediately letting go, they both let their hands fall away.
"When you two are finished whispering by the door, Dad said, and Stiles was pretty sure that comment made him and Derek wince, "you're welcome to actually come into the living room. In your own time," he added and really, that was just unnecessary.

Why isn't it?
This was just a perfect take on the show and again, how it should be. I loved it. So much Sterek perfection. The author just nailed Stiles and Derek perfectly. I has zero problem picturing everything! Seriously. So many pack feels! So many Sterek fees! There wasn't KNOTTING but there was talk of KNOTTING which was awesome! Just such a great Sterek fanfiction. You know it's great when you stare at the last page with a huge grin :) Off to download the podfic!

This is a Sterek fanfic a.k.a Stiles and Derek from the TV show ”Teen Wolf”.
A show I shouldn’t even like, since it has the word “teen” in it, and it’s been quite a few years (but really not that many) since I was a “teen”..
And I also don’t like teens.
I didn’t even know these guys 2 weeks ago, and look at me now? Obsessed to the point of no return.. No. freaking. Return. Seriously. No return.

Great, great Sterek story. Sweet, and it sticks to the show, which I like.. And Mama Argent is a bitch.. That alone deserves 5 stars!

Excellent fanfic based on the Teen Wolf TV series. I've never seen the show but I didn't have any problem following the plot. And there actually is a plot. What a great pairing! Stiles is smart, has a motor-mouth, and wears his heart on his sleeve. Derek is the perfect monosyllabic, brooding Alpha werewolf. This could be considered YA.

Stiles has had enough! Everyone thinks he and Derek are you know…. an item. Seriously?? And because everyone thinks this, it's no wonder he's beginning to notice Derek more. It's pretty eye opening. Revelatory actually.
I can definitely see why this fic is so well loved. What I mean is, if you like canon based Sterek, then this should push all your buttons! It seamlessly integrates itself into the Season 2 arc of Jackson being the kanima and reenvisions the plot to encompass Stiles and Derek coming together. Like if it were to happen on the actual show, this is how it would unfold.
On top of that genius, this also stands out to me as another excellent example of portraying Stiles' voice pretty much to-the-T. It was expertly paced, each character was true to themselves, the progression was just right. In addition, the Sheriff was freakin awesome in this; some of the best scenes in the fic. So of course the humor was hilarious, the emotional angst was thoughtful and appropriate, and the intimate parts (tho not all that involved or explicit) were perfect for the setting.
For Stiles, Derek might be the "best maybe boyfriend ever" but there was no doubt that this was awesome.

Nice story though I was expecting more of 'assuming their a couple' tension/humour than there was and would have liked some more tension to the plot as it felt a low priority compared to training...
The adventure here is quite simple but the relationship vibe good and I really like the chats with Stile's dad.

I just finished No Homo and really liked it, so decided to check out some other Sterik fan-fic friends had recommended. I was a little disappointed with this one for several reasons.
1) Isn't per-se the authors fault, since this is fan fiction; it felt like a sequel and I hadn't read the first book. They talked about a lot of shit going down, and that's fine, but I think it pretty much was a list of every possible spoiler if I had ever wanted to actually watch the TV show. Which sucks a little. Someone who had watched the show probably liked that it picked up where the show left off, but I think some of the details could have been left out for a more succinct story.
2) This reminded me a lot of another free online story that I had read and loved, Timber Pack Chronicles. Small dorky high school boy thinks the big popular high school boy ignores/doesn't like him but really the sexy Alpha knows his mate and has been lying in wait until he turn 18 for sexy-times and lovin. So good! And I really liked Stiles' part in this, but Derek fell flat. Again, I think if you'd watched the show you would infer his character and see the actor and blah blah blah. But from my perspective, he didn't say much. Other people said he had I'm-attracted-to-Stiles pheromones, but he wasn't even acting overly protective or growly for me to pick up any of that, and I just wasn't feeling any chemistry. Even near the end when he finally said a few things to indicate the slightest bit of interest and had a 'look' that Stiles interpreted as fondness...it wasn't much.
3) Those were really my two main issues, #2 could have been helped along with some sexier sexin. They really just made out, which is okay, except that we needed some indicator of their feelings.
4) Aaaaand from a plot perspective, the lizard crap and resolution was pretty stupid
Re-Read 8/2020: Now much more familiar with this cannon, bumped up to 3 stars. Still found the Jackson sitch poorly handled and the taser incident was totally uneccessary and it kinda ruined the flow for me. . The first 1-2 Stiles-needs-time-to-thinks were appropriate but this last was immature and unfair. Anywho. Liked the rest. Derek was sweet, but believable. Stiles was adorkable. Their not-“all-the-way” sex was Hot AF.

And for some reason your wish is for the actual Teen Wolf TV series to have introduced a Sterek relationship in the first place, for real! THIS would be it!!!! suzvoy grants your wish! All you gotta do is read this awesome fanfic!!!
Not to mention Derek actually being an actual Alpha?!

First fic I've read that was really closely related to the TV series (which I have not or will not see), so I think that I lost something here.
Also first one I've read where Stiles and Derek are the same ages (I assume) as the show, which makes Stiles 17, and at school school (like secondary school) so this became a lot more teeny. I did not like
The actual relationship development was sweet and nicely done, and there was a supernatural plot thing as well.

Always nice to read Sterek fanfics. Nice that they accepted each other as mates and were able to stop Jackson, the kanima. Hope the second time with the Sheriff goes well.

This Sterek was very close to the show, so if you haven’t seen Teen Wolf I think there would be some confusion.
Stiles was very Stiles in this one.
I have a feelings this is how it could go between Stiles and Derek had the writers of the show decided to ship these two. It was great!
But… I was a bit disappointed at the end. We don’t get the sex! There is some making out and then all of a sudden there are off page sexual acts.
I wanted to be there for the Sterek sex!
Still a great Sterek though, even without the sex.

This was fun and there was a proper storyline here told from Stiles' POV - I like me some Sterek but I prefer it when there is a decent plot to go with it, so this delivered on that count. The characters were well-written and I enjoyed the read. I think this one felt more 'young adult' than normal though and as such was a little bit too PG through most of it for my liking (not the sex, more like just the general feel of it - I'm not sure if that even makes sense, sorry!). The ending was also a bit too sweet for my taste. The mate stuff was pretty cool, but we never really got to see enough of it as it happened a bit late in the story. So a good read but it left me feeling slightly...unsatisfied.

Not for me, clearly. DNFing this because 2 chapters in I just don't want to read anymore of it.
I guess first of all I'm not fond of fics taking exact storylines from the show and rewriting scenes... and the tone just feels wrong? I don't know, I'm not sure what I don't like aside from the writing but it's not to my taste at all :(

As long as everyone assumed Stiles and Derek were in a relationship, I thought this was fun. Afterwards the story still wasn't too bad, although pretty standard.

Such a sweet and lovely AU story of season 2 of Teen Wolf. I enjoyed very much the bits of the story she followed exactly and LOVED the bits that she changed (most especially the actually having Stiles and Derek get together part :D).
I loved how sweet and innocent the whole vibe of the story was. Not only is this Stiles's first relationship, but Stiles realizes this is Derek's first relationship since Kate. So it's new and scary and fragile and exiting for both of them. Perfect first-love story.
Favorite Quotes:
Maybe he really was the princess that needed rescuing. If it meant he got to have sex with Derek, he'd totally deal with the aspersions to his character.
He wasn't wolfed out, but his eyes were that vibrant red that was so disturbing.

suzvoy and RemainNameless have written some of the best books I've read this year.
I haven't watched the show (Teen Wolf) but for me, that was not necessary to freaking love these stories.
Well thought-out, funny, sometimes smexy, great characters and always a well-developed story.

This is how, in a perfect world, the show should have been . Both Derek and Stiles act as they do on the show, the Kanima storyline is actually handled beter as the show, and Sterek is perfect. Sigh
