Vamsy or Vamsi (born Nallamilli Bamireddy on 20 November 1956) is a Telugu Indian film director, screenwriter and music director known for his works in Telugu cinema. In 1985 he received the National Film Award for Sitaara.
Vamsy is one of the very few filmmakers in Telugu who tries to depict the nativity of the concerned story. Although he is well known for portraying the scenic beauty of Godavari and surrounding regions, the element of characterisation is the highlight in his films.

మనం ఒక మంచి పుస్తకం చదివాక అది ఒక మంచి అనుభూతి ఇచ్చేసాక మళ్లీ అలాంటి జానర్ బుక్ చదివేటప్పుడు ముందు చదివినదానితో పోల్చుకోటం మామూలే. ఆ రైటర్ ఒకళ్ళే అయితే ఆ కంపారిసిన్ మరి ఎక్కువగా ఉంటుంది.

మా పసలపూడి కథలు చదివాకా వంశీగారి బెస్ట్ ఇదే అని ఫిక్స్ అయిపోయాక దిగువ గోదారి కథలు మొదలెట్టా..!!
ఇంతకుముందే చెప్పినట్లు ఎంత పోల్చుకున్నా దిగువ గోదారి కథలు ఓ మెట్టు ఎగువగానే కనిపించాయి..!!

వంశీ గారి రచనలో మ్యాజిక్ ఏంటంటే అతను కథని పాత్రల్ని మాత్రమే చెప్పారు వాటితోపాటు
గాలికి ఊగుతున్న కొబ్బరాకులు,
గోదారి నీళ్లలో ఊగుతున్న నావ,
మండువా లోగిల్లో కురుస్తున్న వర్షం,
వర్షంలో తడుస్తున్న పిల్లలు,
ఒకటేంటి అన్నింటిని కళ్ళముందే చూపిస్తారు.

మా పసలపూడి కథలు,దిగువ గోదారి కథలు తెలుగు పుస్తకాలు చదివే ఎవరిదగ్గరైన ఖచ్చితంగా ఉండాల్సినవి.ఉంటాయి కూడా..!!

Exemplary staple food for any telugu-ite! This betters the earlier "Maa Pasalapudi Kathalu" though it seems impossible before starting this book. This is up there in my repeat-read-library.

After reading Maa pasalapudi kadhalu and then reading this, it is a huge step up! While that book describes life of people in particular village, this is about an entire region! Same innocence in people, same level of awe at anything related to posh city life, same apprehensions in lives and same set of mentalities, yet different stories at different times. Not even one of them seems unreal and not even one of them boring. Whether it is the power of the story or the narrative is something I will leave for the readers to decide, but at the end of the day, Vamsi is a great writer. Period!

కొన్ని కథలు నచ్చలేదు కాని చాలావరకు బానే ఉన్నాయి. గోదావరి వర్ణన, ఆ నదితో ముడిపడిన జీవన విధానం మాత్రం చాలా చక్కగా వివరించారు.
