Love at Second Sight

Este libro me llevó por diferentes niveles de Face palms y mucha pero mucha furia y frustración. El concepto estaba bien, pero todo el resto es superficial y plano. Nunca más un libro de esta mujer. Nunca más.

Me gustó y entretuvo mucho.
Me esperaba algo que chorreara melaza, bien, bien rosa, pero nada que ver. No hay romance empalagoso ni nada por el estilo. Aborda un tema muy interesante, y aunque resulta predecible y para mi gusto el final es un poco apresurado, es una lectura ligera y entretenida que se disfruta, y hasta emociona.
Me sorprendió, es muy juvenil pero esperaba algo aún más juvenil.

I somehow enjoyed this book, but everything just felt so rushed. I wish we got to know more about this past life. I think that we got to see less of the "present-Howard", it was always about "this other guy". I wish we got more scenes from him and that it was more focused on him, rather on the other guy.
I didn't really feel that attachment to the characters and I just cringed at some parts. Though I have issues with this book, I couldn't put it down, because I was so interested with this concept of soulmates and reincarnation. I like the idea of old souls reuniting, and how things are connected from the past to the present.
Overall, this book had so much potential, but I didn't really like how things played out. But, really, it was an okay book. So 2.5/5 stars

OH POR DIOS, ¡FUE ODIOSOOOOO!
La idea era MUY buena. Pero los personajes fueron taan malos. La protagonista se jactaba de que no iba a ser una más del chico mujeriego, y sin embargo estaba todo el día como "oh, espero encontrarme con él. Lo quiero. Pero no voy a darle bola. Ay, me ruboricé". TODO EL FUCKING LIBRO.
Y el protagonista masculino, que se supone que tiene que encontrarse con la prota y vivir amorosamente por siempre(?) GRACIAS SI CRUZARON 10 PALABRAS EN TODO EL LIBRO.

Muy fácil de leer, rápido, refrescante, divertido, original, ideal para descansar de una lectura pesada o para salir de una resaca literaria.
Esos Ojos fue un libro del cual esperaba poco y nada y me termino sorprendiendo. No tenemos la típica historia de amor, sino que nos enfrentamos a algo mucho mas diferente.
Nuestra protagonista principal, Jo, busca a su alma gemela que la acompañó en su vida anterior. Las opciones son tres y en un momento hasta el lector duda de cual será la indicada.
Mis problemas fueron mas que nada con los personajes puesto que si bien tenemos a los tres protagonistas masculinos bien definidos, surgen problemas como el de no identificar cual es cual de las dos mejores amigas de la protagonista puesto que ambas son iguales. Muchas veces pasa que te detallan la personalidad de un personaje y sin embargo, cuando lo leemos, no notamos lo que nos dijeron con respecto a las acciones, bueno, esta no es la excepción. Sinceramente ambas amigas podrían haber sido sintetizadas en una y eso sumado al hecho de que al principio del libro Jo afirmaba no creer en las vidas pasadas pero se pasaba la vida hablando del tema hicieron que le reste una estrella.
Se lo recomiendo a cualquiera pero en especial creo que vendría ideal para chicas de entre 10 a 12 años que se busca introducir a al lectura.

Es un libro bonito, con una historia que me enganchó mucho pero que realmente no disfruté del todo porque, vamos a ser sinceros, aunque no quiera ya estoy vieja para algunos libros.
Creo que la autora tiene su foco en chicas más preadolescentes y adolescentes, algo así como de 12 a 14 años más o menos, así que para grandulonas como yo quizás le falte algunas cosas :P
No sé si este libro es el inicial de una bilogía/trilogía/saga (aunque en mi opinión es bastante autoconclusivo) pero me hubiera gustado más desarrollo. Quizás sea por el tema de que está enfocada en gente más chica y se necesite más inmediatez en los hechos, pero me hubiera gustado saber más de la historia de la vida pasada de Jo, más info sobre el triángulo-cuadrado amoroso, más desarrollo.
Para mí fueron pocas páginas para una historia que daba para mucho más, pero aún así me gustó.

"2015 Reading Challenge #32: Un libro con un triangulo amoroso"
Más bien es un cuadrado
Romance juvenil y no es la típica historia de chica buena se enamora de chico malo, y eso ya es mucho a su favor.
Creo que le hubiese puesto una estrella más si el final no hubiese sido tan desesperado, después de tanto misterio e intriga me esperaba algo más mágico.
Igual creo que la autora quiso reflejar el hecho de que una relación no puede ser forzada, por más que quieras que las cosas funcionen... debe haber una conexión.
No sé que opinen los demás, pero a mí si me pareció bastante obvio quien era Howard.
Puedo decir que Jo me cayó bien por casi toda la novela, excepto el final:
En fin, en cuanto a la historia es muy interesante. Creo que la reencarnación es un tema que puede rendir muchos frutos para una novela siempre y cuando sé sepa como usarlo. En Esos ojos el misterio en torno a sus historia cumplió su cometido... el desenlace no tanto.
Si quieres algo diferente y fresco definitivamente recomiendo este libro.

The concept or the story of this novel is actually good, kinda new and exciting, so even though i don't believe in this matter of past lives, clairvoyants, seeing fortunes and stuff...it kept me reading, i wanted to see what happens, i got curious i even googled "Hypnotherapy" because i wanted to know more, though i still doesn't believe in it.
what i didn't like is that there was so much talk about Finn, the first half of the book i was sure he was Jo's soulmate but then...he wasn't, it was Ben.And i'mnot saying that thant was bad, BUT, i didn't really get to know the real herowhich is Ben, i wanted to know more about him, other than that he has a dog named Max and wears a lot of shades.

Que libro más predecible... Solo lo leí por que me lo prestaron, porque en cualquier otro caso lo habría abandonado. Quizás si lo hubiera a los once/doce años mi calificación habría sido bastante distinta.
No me gustó nada, todos los personajes planos, llenos de estereotipos, sin trama y trementamente aburrido.

Love at Second Sight was a book I'd never heard of until I went to an Simon & Schuster event back in July, and luckily enough, I managed to snag a copy. This is my first book by author Cathy Hopkins and I must say, it definitely won't be my last.
The story follows the life of teenager Jo, who so far has been quite unlucky in love. All of her friends have boyfriends and she's sick of feeling like a third wheel and despite Jo's protests, her friends drag her to see a clairvoyant. Once there, the clairvoyant tells her that her true love is someone from her past live when she worked as a governess. Jo doesn't believe a word she's told because really, how can someone have a past life let alone a soul mate? However, Jo's friends won't let it lie and soon start a uncovering all the details about her past life. Can this all really be true? And will Jo find her one true love after all?
Love at Second Sight is such a cute and fun read. I literally read it within about 24 hours and once I started it, I found it a very addictive read. It was very easy to slip into these characters lives and experience everything they were experiencing because Cathy Hopkins make it a very vivid read. I could easily imagine myself walking through Camden Market and going to the fair. But what I liked most about this story was the journey the characters took to find Jo's past love. It was very exciting and it was really interesting to discover how you would go about finding a long lost loved one or even relative.
The love interests in the story really where a hard choice. I liked all three of them. Don't worry, there's no love triangle's in the story. It's simply Jo having to choose who she thinks is her soul mate. All three of the boys were great but it was pretty clear from the start who she was meant to be with.
Now Jo, I really liked. She's had some hard times with her father passing at a young age and that really effects how she is now. She goes to therapy and if anything, that helps her more than she willing to admit. Her relationship with her friends mean everything to her and even though they have their silly arguments, they push and support each other into doing the right thing. I loved the connection they all had and even the girls boyfriends, were fun too.
Overall, Love at Second Sight is a story about a lost love, second chances and destiny and I really enjoyed it. If you're looking for the ideal summer read, then this is the book for you.

Comencemos aclarando esto: ¡Tengo sentimientos encontrados respecto a este libro!
No odié el libro, definitivamente pasé un buen rato leyéndolo, el problema eran los humores que tenía la protagonista, o sea, esta tipa estaba así:
"Ay, me encanta Finn, es tan tierno, pero no me gusta" .
"Ay, Owen es tan lindo, sería un perfecto novio, pero solo lo quiero como amigo".
"Ay, odio a Ben, es tan serio, pero no puedo evitar encontrarlo hermoso".
Es que... ¡Arggggg! juro que es de las protagonistas más desesperantes que he leído. Literalmente desde el momento en que conoció a Ben yo ya sabía que era Howard, es que era obvio.
Creo que que la autora podría haber explotado mucho mejor el tema 'central' de la historia y no solo basarse en un, cabe decir, estúpido cuadrado amoroso.

Una historia simpática. Me esperaba mucho más, pero me encontré con un libro un tanto naive, ideal para chicas más jóvenes que dan sus primeros pasos en el amor.
Y aún así, el gancho fue el tema de las vidas pasadas, que me mantuvo leyendo con ganas. Misterios, un pasado que la persigue hasta en sueños y un amor épico que traspasa cualquier frontera fueron lo más destacable, junto con la edición, de este peque de tinta y papel.

WTF, es el mejor libro de almas gemelas y reencarnación que he leído es que desde el principio sabía que el alma gemela de Jo era Ben, desde que se miraron en el festival, no hay explicación ellos siempre serán el uno para el otro y aunque a veces las actitudes de Jo eran estresantes, el miedo que le tenía al amor me hizo entenderla un poco, todos fuimos de alguna manera Jo, con miedo a enamorarse, sin creer muchas cosas, perderse en sí misma, quedarse estancada, Jo eres una gran persona que se merece todo en este mundo y Ben eres el amor de mi vida, tu frialdad con los demás pero a la vez que la gente se sintiera cómoda contigo por que eras alguien sentimental dentro de tu caparazón de chico rudo, te amo TE AMOOO CTM

1.7... Le hace honor al título? Mmm no realmente... la historia interesante parte recién como a los dos tercios y termina demasiado rápido, demasiado predecible, demasiado pelotuda la protagonista, paso obsesionada en no proyectar la imagen que realmente si tenía y obsesionada con un tipo que se veía desde la Luna que era un pelotudo, tomando decisiones idiotas y nada... en realidad creo que era una buena idea pésimamente desarrollada...

Sus ojos es un libro escrito por Cathy Hopkins y publicado el 30 de julio de 2015. La trama comienza con una chica llamada Jo, esta se encuentra en una feria y es obligada por su amiga a ver una vidente, la cual le dice que tiene mala suerte en el amor debido a un asunto pendiente en su vida pasada con su alma gemela.
Cuando empecé a leer esta historia, pensé que la novela fue creada por una adolescente que la había publicado en Wattpad, como el típico fanfic de Harry Styles. Imaginen mi sorpresa al enterarme que la autora tiene 70 años y más de 53 libros publicados.
No tengo mucho para decir de este libro, si tengo que destacar algo bueno, es lo fácil que se lee este supuesto romance paranormal, que no tiene nada de romance ni de paranormal, si comienzas el libro con ganas, fácilmente se puede terminar en un día.
Si tengo que resaltar lo malo, es que es un cliche tras otro, haciendo de este un relato bastante común y sencillo, casi sin emoción alguna. La protagonista, al igual que el resto de personajes son super planos, sus amigas? Dos milipilis tan basiconas, al punto de no saber cual es cual, los intereses amorosos de Jo uno mas soso que el otro, super predecible con cual de estos chicos se quedaría al final. Pero lo peor de todo es que justo cuando empezaba lo interesante de la historia, donde se podría haber desarrollado un romance, esta se termina.
Si este tipo de novelas te llaman la atencion, tenes menos de 18 años y te quieres acercar al mundo de la literatura, sin dudas te recomiendo el escrito, ya que es de facil lectura y puede ser un buen punto de arranque. En cambio si las historias de romance están repletas de cliches, no son lo tuyo. Ni te acerques a este libro.

This book came at one of the best moments! I was in the middle of reading a trilogy , and right after starting the second book, I had to return the book to my library as they were doing a stock check . As you can imagine, I had one of the worst book hangovers ever! Such a good series too , and I can't wait to finish reading it. But until then, I had to fill that hollow sad feeling inside my reading life with something, and I bought a couple of books amongst which Love At Second Sight recently, so I thought hey, why not? It's not like I have anything better to do. The cover was the one that initially attracted me and then after I read the blurb on the back, I was sold. It sounded interesting, looked interesting, so surely I thought , it can only be a good read, right?
I mist say I stared it and , although it was too early on to make a judgement, after about 10 pages or so I was kind of already bored of it... Of course I didn't give up, and , besides the surprising number of times "mates" is used in dialogue, this book quickly got interesting. The captivating story kept me wanting to read more and as I got deeper so did my love for this book. I was incredibly surprised and in a good way! It completely met my expectations and I was kind of sad when I finished reading this in two days. But I was okay with that because, unlike most of my favourite books, it doesn't leave me with wanting to know what happens next. The end is perfect and there is no sign of a cliffhanger, of course, I'd love a sequel but the story was already told so there wouldn't be much to it, unfortunately. Still, this was a fun read and , as others said, this definitely don't be my last read form Cathy Hopkins . Really fun,girly and perfect in every way! Give it a try and I'm sure you'll love it.. ;)

No había tenido la oportunidad de leer nada de esta autora y decidí no leer ninguna reseña sobre el libro antes de leerlo, eso ayudó de alguna manera.
Me gustó mucho la idea de la reencarnación, aunque no es algo muy original, pero tenía ganas de saber cómo lo manejaría la autora. Si bien la historia en sí es interesante, la trama es muy sencilla y llena de clichés. Los personajes quedan muy desdibujados, no hay mucho desarrollo así que las cosas fluyen muy fácil pero sin que te den un panorama más profundo de ellas.
Jo es una chica muy racional pero llega un momento en que cansa con su actitud y por si fuera poco, el triángulo amoroso, de pronto parece cuadrángulo y esas cosas no me gustan. Yo entiendo que la novela esté dirigida a adolescentes y por eso se trate el romance de esta manera, pero al final, todo es tan apresurado y tan absurdo que no le crees ni por un momento quién es el elegido y por qué. Le faltó más sustancia, más explicación, más "algo" para que terminara bien, porque a fin de cuentas se trataba de un romance que había sobrevivido al tiempo, y quedó como muy en el aire.
Yo creo que este libro no fue para mí porque no me gustan las historias simples y predecibles con protagonistas que no pueden decidirse por un sólo chico. Lo que sí hay que reconocer es que se lee muy rápido, algo que se agradece infinitamente.

I don't rate 5 stars.
I used to do it but not anymore.
Nowadays, no matter how much I like the book I read I don't do the 5 stars thing because there is always something I won't like.
Giving 5 stars became more than a very rare thing that almost does't happen unless I'm reading a classic.
Well, this book broke the role.
This book broke too many rules actually.
I'm so overwhelmed with love for this book that I can't search my vocabulary for words that can describe it.
Rare thing no. 1:
I like the heroine which is an actual rare. I mean, when was actually the last heroine I fell for beside Elizabeth Bennet, Jane Eyre and Hermione Grenier??
I fell for Jo which is a thing to consider.
Rare thing no. 2:
This book got me to think. It's more than a rare thing for a while to me. All authors' tricks and riddles always seemed stupid to me and I always get it too quickly but this one always got me second guessing.
At first I thought it was playing other stupid trick but it was as if the author was always by my side seeing how I'd think so she will go directly the other way around.

It really was Ben after all but the steps taken to reach that fact is what truly amazed me really.

I wished for a single thing I won't like so I can cut stars but sadly failed. See, lately I became a one who love it, just love it to see authors do it wrongly so I got to judge them. It became some kind of passion to me and this book terribly failed me.
So I've got no choice but to fall for it. And hell, happily I DID.

September 25, 2013I decided to read 'Love at second sight' as the cover caught my eye, it was in the recommended section in the library and I am a huge fan of chick flicks and romance novels.
This book falls into the category of 'a book written in 2012-2013'. This category was interesting for me because new literature of modern times is interesting and easy to relate to.
This book taught me that sometimes if you look too closely at things you you miss what's right before your eyes. In this novel Jo ( the protagonist) is continuously on a journey with the help of her friends to find the love of her life. They search too much that they walk right past the guy she is destined to be with. I believe that if we look at the small details we will miss he bigger picture and Jo did this exactly.
A character in this book that was interesting to me was Jo. I believe she was too optimistic in the beginning and deep down knew something big would happen to her in the near future. I would say she gets push around by her friends a lot but I love how she is different to them. She has different interests and doesn't mind being herself. I think this is admirable in a character and it sends out a good message to the readers.

Creo que la portada original te da una mejor señal de lo que vas a encontrarte al leer este libro que la que le pusieron en español, ya que con esa imagen más la sinopsis me esperaba algo más interesante y misterioso, pero es un libro bastante girly y light, no por ello malo ya que me entretuvo bastante y es facil de leer, no tiene ninguna clase de complicación.
Todo el inicio es interesante, cuando la protagonista y sus amigas comienzan a investigar sobre su vida pasada y todo lo que averiguan, pero realmente no hay un misterios como te lo quieren hacer creer, simplemente hacia el final del libro es: Quien de los 3 chicos que quieren conmigo será mi amor del pasado y ya. El final es bastante simplón, siento que es una historia sin climax, pero que se pasa rápido, creo que si vienes de un libro pesado o que te agrado mucho esta seria una buena opción ya que no te exige mucho, no profundizan mucho en los personajes y es un libro corto.

Es un libro predecible, sabes desde el inicio con quién se quedará al final, sin embargo me gustó bastante el hecho de que no hay romances apresurados o muy empalagosos por decirlos de alguna forma, todo fluye tranquilamente, aunque el final me pareció apresurado, en 4 páginas resumió lo que pudo contar en 15 o 30 páginas más.
Es un libro muy interesante, no es nuevo porque ya había lído libros con esta temática, pero en general la historia te engancha te entretiene bastante y saber como tres amigas de preparatoria o secundaria (no tuve muy claro sus rangos de edad) pueden hacer investigaciones tan completas en temas que les son de mucho interés y lo que es escolar ahí si no hahahah me estoy desviando del tema.
Jo busca a su amor de una vida pasada Howard pero para ello tiene que creer y buscar muy bien para encontrar a su alma gemela... ufff que hermosas historias son esas de las almas gemelas, ojalá yo encuentre la mía.

¿Cuándo siempre fuiste escéptica, como puedes creer semejante "tonteria" según tú?
Esta es una de las mil preguntas que rondan por la cabeza de Jo, después de que una vidente le hablará de su vida pasada y el amor de su vida.
Sus amigas intentan ayudarla para descubrir si es cierto.
Jo está enamorada (o cree estarlo) de Finn, un muchacho de su escuela que está en una banda muy reconocida. También tiene a Owen su ex novio, que quiere volver a intentarlo.
Y por último, esta Ben el baterista de la banda de Finn, que al parecer gusta de ella.
El libro fue my fácil de leer, el trama no fue tan complicado como parecía. El tema de las regresiones y las vidas pasadas me parecieron muy interesante.
Pero me parecía que el tema pudo haber sido explotado mejor.
Además, quien era su alma gemela, fue muy predecible, y el final muy apresurado.

I liked the idea of the story. like the idea of reincarnation and how you could've been someone in a past life. I like history a lot so with that aspect I liked the book. also the fact that it was a romantic book as well also made the book really good. at one point in the book, I couldn't stop reading and was always looking forward to reading it once I came back from school. however, I felt that the ending happened quite suddenly and I thought that it wasn't as anti climatic as I thought it would've been. like I was expecting more I suppose. However, overall I felt that it was a good read and I'm glad I read it. I would recommend this book to people who are interested in the past and a bit of romance too :)

The first time I saw this book it was truly love at first sight. It was because of its cover that I decided to read it and I was not at all disappointed. Normally I would hate a book iwhich has more than one love interest but that was not the case with this book. It had a nice plot and I loved Jo too but I can't say the same about Ben too. I know that they were destined to be with each other and all but in my opinion the author should have described Ben more thoroughly. I also felt bad for Owen 'cause he was really a nice guy.

Este libro tiene un estilo de escritura muy simple y la trama en sí lo es también pero rodeado de algo interesante como lo es la reencarnación, aunque sólo lo use como el medio por el cuál se desarrolla el romance y no ahonde tanto en el tema en sí.
Es entretenido y rápido de leer. Es dulce y entretenido.
Algo predecible pero se disfruta igualmente.
Es un buen libro al cual he regresado cuando estoy en paro lector o si simplemente quiero leer algo ligero.

A lovely read for YAs who like sweet romances and a touch of magic.
