I'm not...,I can't...,I don't.......even know what to say or where to even begin with this. I feel like I have been repeatedly punched in the chest over & over & over again & again for the last couple of hours. This book has been the hardest to handle in the series so far. It was like looking at a car accident, you don't really wanna see the carnage but you can't seem to look away either. It emotionally strips you raw & than kicks you in the gut. I cried, screamed, cringed, & cried some more & more. I don't even know where to go from here. I'm at a complete loss. From start to finish non-stop action & gore. Surprise after surprise ramming into you at break-neck speed. A truly horrifying heartbreaking experience with a nightmarish villain that will leave you shaking. There is just NO emotional breaks in this one. I'm freakin exhausted. I think I actually stopped breathing once or twice. The ending left me screaming & pulling my hair out. I NEED TO KNOW where the story goes from here like I need my next breath, but at the same time I am so terrified I'm desperately looking for a happy conclusion but I just don't "see" how. Deep down I do realize these are just books filled with fictional characters, but I have been following this series & this group of people for so long now I just don't know how much more of this my heart can take. I guess that is the definition of truly fabulous storytelling. You're sucked in so deep you have a hard time separating fantasy from reality. Tim O'Rourke really is a phenomenal Author & you would be missing out if you didn't give his books a try.

MICHELLE'S REVIEW:

5 OUTSTANDING POTTER STARS!!

“See you later, alligator.”
With a lump in my throat, and unable to look back, I whispered, “In a while, crocodile.”

I’m going to say it. Dead Statues is the BEST book so far in the second Kiera Hudson series. I wouldn’t normally choose best books, but, Tim had my cheeks hurting within the first five chapters. I’m not talking my sweet-cheeks, I’m talking my face, lol!

I know, that wasn’t funny:(

Murphy and Potter together just ‘feels’ like home to me, they are so comfortable with each other and I sensed that it gave Potter a bit of a reprieve from being the oldest one. He got to have his older friend to shoulder some of what is thrown at them. Murphy brings out that banter and snark that I love about Potter. But we also get to see another deeper , more caring side to Potter....*sniff*

Tim had me laughing and then I was getting thrown into those action scenes that Tim does so well. Whether they are on a moving vehicle, in the air or on the ground when the wings come out, the action was on, double time!

I did laugh at all the potty mouth that all the characters were using. Everybody was putting money in the swear jar and I LOVED it!

“I hardly touched him,” Potter said. Then looking down at Sam, he added, “You’d better man-up or wolf-out, boy, because some of your furry friends are getting ready to tear us all a new set of arseholes!”

“Really?” Potter barked. Then turning his attention back at Sam, he added. “Did you sue him?”
“Sue who?” Sam asked confused.
“Your fucking hairdresser,” Potter grinned rolling up his sleeves, readying himself for the Skin-walkers who were growing ever nearer. “If I came out looking like you with hair and shit sprouting outta me, I’d be demanding a refund.”

However hard you try Kayla, you can’t polish a turd.”
“I’m not a piece of shit!” Sam barked at him, his eyes glowing
fiercely.
“Glad to hear it,” Potter smiled at him. “Because now you’re gonna get a chance to prove it.”

This book is from Kiera and Potter’s POV’s . Potter stole the show for most of it. Whether he was bantering with Murphy, Sam, getting deep with Kayla, putting his foot in his mouth with Kiera BIG TIME, or just having the gang back together and being Potter.

Between you and me Kiera, Potter really does have to explain that Sophie business.

* raises one eyebrow at Potter *

I felt very sorry for Kiera, I don’t blame her for thinking what she was thinking.

“Don’t you dare call me that!” I shouted, just inches from his face. “I’m not your tiger – sweet-cheeks – or anything else. Why don’t you just fuck off?”

Tim has sown those seeds again, little bits. The statues have got my theory juices bubbling away. We learn more, but Tim only lets us in on a bit. The statue morsels he spreads about like breadcrumbs, my theories are getting a bit more solid now.

Poor Kiera and the choices she is being forced to make. Tim you are being rather hard on Kiera. I 'felt' ALL of that particular scene between Kiera and........

In true Tim style he gives us the mystery and action mixed with some smexi that is....................... lordy, Potter has some explaining to do. The gorey scenes are still there, the LOL moments and the banter that I love.

Tim is just so comfortable with Potter and Murphy. These two are the odd couple with Murphy and his pipe and comfy slippers , they are so good together. I laugh so much when these two are together.

With his thick, white hair blowing back off his brow, and pipe
dangling from the corner of his mouth, he roared up at us, “What are you waiting for, you fucking Muppets! Jump!”

He looked down at his slippers which were now covered in mud. “Oh sweet Jesus,” he groaned.
“Is that all you’re worried about?” I snapped at him as he stood looking down at his feet in the pale morning light.
“I’ve had these for years,” he grumbled at me.

“You could’ve fooled me. You went screaming across the roof of that train like fucking Beaker. All you needed was the bright orange hair and I would’ve never known the difference.”

“I’m sorry to piss all over your fantasy, sarge,” I cut in, “but can’t you just take your shirt off a little bit quicker and get your claws out?”
“Okay, okay, don’t hassle me,” Murphy complained. “You know I don’t like to spoil my uniform. I just hate those goddamn creases you get when you just rip your shirt off and...”
“Fuck the creases!” I shouted. “Claw up right now or we’re gonna die!”

“Just like old times,” Murphy grumbled, as he lashed out at a
berserker who dared to stick its snout through the window.
“You wouldn’t want it any other way, you old fart,” I said, burying my right claw into the eyes of a berserker which was scrambling through one of the broken windows.

This installment in the series was particularly made for a movie I thought. Visually awesome, dialogue was hilarious, and touching, with a touch of manic thrown in there for good measure.

If you haven't started Kiera Hudson series, start off at Vampire Shift and work your way through to the second series. I can assure you , Tim has a unique style of quirky, British humor, with characters you connect so well with, and a mystery that he weaves through each series that would stump Inspector Morse.

I 'feel' very invested in this series and indeed in all of Tim's works. He just has that 'Tim Factor' he stamps on each book that has us coming back for more, demanding when the next book is releasing.

Was in such a rush to read this as wanting to know how the story continues but find myself shouting out, and do not possibly want to believe what is happening. As this has been a long journey and I feel as though I have travelled along side the gang all the way. You're compelled to keep reading even though you might not like what you find on the otherside. This book has got it all the thrills, the action, the heartaches all the things you'd expect from one of Tim's books. The only downside is you finish them too quickly but I just can't help myself when you start you have to see it through till the end!!!

This novel has left me feeling utterley shocked and impatient to find out exactly what is going to happen next. Keira Hudson is definitely back and the main focus of this book, along with Potter. The story is told from both points of view and is completely filled with mystery, emotion, action, adventure, fear and dread.

At the beginning of the book is an Author's Note. This is a short account of what 'Dead Statues' has in store for the reader, i.e. the areas and characters it will be focusing on. It also explains the connections between the previous novellas, 'The Wolf House' and 'Dead Night - Potter's Secrets, and this novel. I, personally, would take notice if you haven't already read the previous novellas as they do provide great background information and knowledge of certain characters that will help the reader understand the emotions behind this novel.

Keira and her friends have just escaped a huge attack from the Skin-walkers, however it did not end well. They are all contemplating what had just happened and are trying to rest before they figure out what to do next. Before much can be said we find that they are in the thick of it again with the Skin-walkers. When events begin to calm, Keira is made aware of secrets that Potter has kept from her. Keira is hurt, angry and confused. How could Potter do this to her? She thought that he loved her.

Because she feels deceived and has found out that her father is alive in this 'pushed' world, Keira decides to leave her friends behind in search of her dad. Her friends, in the meantime, have problems of their own. And Potter has a great deal of making up to do. Potter goes in search for Keira, hoping to explain himself to her.

Throughout this novel it is easy to sympathise with Keira as she is the one that was kept in the dark and deceived. However, for those that have read the two novellas, Potter is also easy to sympathise with as the reader will understand the how's, where's and why's. On saying this, I do believe that Potter should have explained all to Keira, for at least then she would know the truth firsthand, without becoming more paranoid and having more questions and doubts.

Throughout this series we have been introduced to the statues. These statues seem to appear from nowhere and when unseen they change positions. Some appear to whisper, but without their lips moving. They are eerie and it is the whole mystery surrounding them that make the reader fear for what or who they are, at the same time as wonder whether this will end up being Keira's fate. These statues remind me of the Weeping Willows in the 'Doctor Who' series. And, likewise, they make me feel all goose-bumpy as they are strangely ghostly. Who are these statues, where are they from and what connection do they have to Keira and her friends?

The setting for this main novel is largely at a cottage where Keira's friends are holding out for her, a graveyard near Keira's fathers' house and Keira's fathers' house. The atmosphere is very moody, very emotional, scary and terrifying. The snow is falling all around, in contrast, creating a more calm background, especially as the last novel was very stormy with thunder and lightning.

The ending of this novel is a complete cliffhanger and it is an absolute must to read the following novel, 'Dead Seth (Keira Hudson Series Two, Book 4)'. Keira and Potter both seem stuck in at their own dead end and it is impossible to know what will happen next. Will their enemy succeed? Will Keira or Potter be saved? I hope both, but the chances are slim.

Once again, O’Rourke sets the scene for a powerful Kiera Hudson book that will have readers second-guessing all the characters, but mainly… the most beloved, Potter. This novel is much darker than the rest; with the recent death of a character very close to our hearts and the constant fighting and “betrayal” amongst the remaining characters, O’Rourke makes this a heartbreaking tale. Moreover, the vivid descriptions of flesh being torn from bodies makes this novel not for the faint of heart. It definitely made me cringe at a level I haven’t experienced in an O’Rourke novel until this point, and it’s my understanding that it has to get worse before things can get better. But, I love it.

O’Rourke’s novels whisk me away to an alternate world where werewolves and vampyrus walk the earth, and though it’s very dangerous, especially in this “pushed” world (a world turned upside down—like a parallel universe), I still very much want to be a part of it. And when O’Rourke begins his tales, that’s exactly what happens. Don’t miss out on this amazing series, especially as O’Rourke has just released the next installment, Dead Seth, so if you’re afraid of the cliffhanger (and what a cliffhanger it is!), rest assured, the answers are coming.

I just adore Tim O'Rourke's work. He's one of the few independent authors who's work I purchase as soon as it's available at full price because I know it's going to be well written and worth the $$. :)

Dead Statues was no exception. This one was much darker and gorier than the previous books in the series. It's told from both Potter & Kiera's view, which I just loved. Much of the book was focused on dealing with their own grief and guilt over things that happened in the past. For the first time, I think we really get to see some insecurities in Kiera which just makes her that much more "human" and relatable to me. We see a softer side to Potter and get to understand why he does some of what he does. The scene between Potter and Kayla was tissue-worthy.

There is so much more I'd like to say, but I don't want to ruin anything. My only caveat is that if you haven't read the whole series up until this point, you'll be completely lost. You have to read the books in order to appreciate the world Mr O'Rourke has created for Potter, Kiera & gang.

Kiera knows Potter is keeping secrets from her, she just doesn't know the reason why. As this book is told from both Potter and Kiera's POV, it offers us a valuable insight into their feelings and the guilt that they both live with over the choices they have made. Kayla gets to the heart of the matter when she seeks vengeance for her brothers death though it does not lessen her grief. A terrible misunderstanding will change the course of their lives and in a world that has been "Pushed", one wrong move could be their last. How far would you go to save the lives of the people you loved? The ending cried out for more pages but alas there were none following so I will just keep waiting. It is not often that you find an author who shares so much of himself and his work with his fans. I guess that is why he has such a loyal fan base who love his books and this series. I am proud to say that I am of them and will avidly await the next instalment about my two favourite characters, Potter and Kiera.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Tim you absolutley killed me with this ending! Instead of reading another book, I now have to dig out Dead Seth (the bastard!) so I can find out what happens next. I really feel all sorts of emotions right now, especially for Kiera and Potter who were played like banjos by Jack Seth. Nice surprise seeing Murphy back where he belongs..right next to Kiera, Potter, and Kayla.

I love Kiera. She is very loyal and always tries to do the right thing, but right now I'm kinda thinking "what the flip" and I am kinda mad at Potter for being so closed off. I hate cliffhangers. The waiting kills me. One of the things I love about Kiera is that she is so noble. She is also smart and can kick butt.Man I just want the next book. I love this series and this book was awesome...( all Tim's books are awesome).. I can't wait for the next one!

In this book I found the darkness I could foresee in the previous ones, skin-walkers, Vampyrus in hiding, living statues or dead people turned to stone? And the group is now having trouble, too many secrets coming out into the light, too many dangers lurking around them. The past attempts to catch up with them and kick them off balance. How will the gang be able to stay together and survive? Will Potter be able to redeem himself? Will Kiera believe everything that's being revealed to her?

This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through!
It seems that Tim O'Rourke wants to take us on another emotional roller coaster with high stakes and let me tell you I am here for it. The group is in danger and it is closing in and at the worst possible time, something I have been dreading and yet excitedly waiting for has come to pass. Kiera has learnt about Potters secret!
There is so much going on emotionally and its clear to see how this affects Kiera and her logical mind. With the threat of the skinwalkers, turning to stone, potters revealed secrets and the prospect of seeing her dead father I didn't know where to turn in this story that didn't cause me stress in the best possible way. The mystery of the statues that are following her intrigue me so much and I'm dying to learn who and what they are. The ending got me amped for the next book and I can only image its going to be so much more stressful than this, I cant wait.

The storyline continues with a few main characters giving up or being miss leaded, I do find it see if that they have not come up with a way to protect there eyes from wolves getting control.

Another phenomenal episode of Kiera Hudson’s life packed with drama, pain, love, passion, death. As always, I was kept sitting at the end of my seat! Poor poor potty mouthed Potter almost screwed over by one of those bit** wolves again! Then of course Kiera – how that girl keeps it together – wow. Yet, you see her almost crumbling (literally) with the choice Seth tells her she must make. Then the fighter comes back to us when she realizes what she needs to do to save ALL the people she loves.

The last paragraph made me say “Go on Kiera give it”!...

Slowly, I raised my head. I looked across the room at Jack Seth and matching his stare, I said with the upmost defiance, “My name is Kiera Hudson – who are YOU to make me choose?”

Thank you Tim A-MAZ-ING !!!

I loved the way it kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning.I have read both of the Kiera Hudson series and can't wait for the third series to begin.
