Planning the most-talked-about wedding of the year is enough to break engineer Frith Taylor out in a cold sweat. She's used to construction sites, not wedding fairs! But estate manager George Challoner's offer of help is one that's too good to resist. George may be the rebel of the prestigious Challoner family, but his insanely good looks are giving Frith wedding fever! Charm personified, he's making her feel things she hasn't dared feel before. Maybe her little sister's wedding won't be the only one Frith's planning...?
After a haphazard career spent working and travelling around the world, I stumbled into romance writing as a way to fund a PhD. My first book, A Sweeter Prejudice, came out in 1991, and since then I've written a further 59 books, some of which have won awards in the US and the UK. I live in York, a historic city in the north of England, and waste the best part of my days planning trips away or on Facebook and Twitter, both of which mean that I end up writing late into the night. As well as romance, I write 'time slips' as Pamela Hartshorne, and am a freelance project editor and occasional writing tutor.
In May 2013 I will publishing the Jessica Hart Vintage Collection of five of my early books from the 90s. For news of forthcoming books and exclusive offers, do sign up for my newsletter: email jessica@jessicahart.co.uk or come and find me on Facebook.
This is the second book from the new Kiss imprint that I've read, and I have to say, I think this imprint is a keeper especially if you like lighthearted contemporary romances that are really fun and just a little sexy.
The heat level for me falls between the Romance line and the Presents line, with the males not being quite so Alpha.
This book felt like it could be a Hallmark movie. Frith (I would like to know what kind of parent names her daughter Frith) is a career minded girl. A little to career minded, but when combined with George Challoner's laid back manner, things get fun.
I loved the opposites attract nature of the story and I liked how both characters came from "money" though in different ways.
I also loved the secondary characters, Saffron, (Frith's sister) and Roley who runs the estate Frith is working for.
There's conflict, but it is never anything that would make you think that these two weren't going to get together in the end.
One of my favorite parts of the story is George and Frith's ringtones. I loved that he kept changing them into more and more absurd things. It was just a bit of silly fun. The other thing I really liked was how the sex was more alluded to, rather than in your face.
This book was pure fun. A great Sunday afternoon read. The thing that kept it from being a perfect read? I would have liked George to get his clinic for the horses, rather than have him work for the same firm Frith was.
'Het was zo fijn dat zijn vingers nu door mijn haar woelden en hij lieve woordjes in mijn oor fluisterde, dat mijn zintuigen in elkaar overliepen. Voelde ik de frisse geur van zijn overhemd onder mijn handpalmen? Was dat de smaak van zijn lippen die mijn huid schroeiden?'
Ja, hallo. Niet alleen de zintuigen van het hoofdpersonage liepen in elkaar over dankzij dit boek. Verder was alles natuurlijk ook heel romantisch.
I have really enjoyed the Harlequin Kiss collection so far and thought I was onto another winner with Hitched! It started so well and I loved the first quarter, but as I continued reading things got worse and worse to the point where I struggled to finish.
The first few pages had me laughing out loud and it all seemed cute, fluffy and funny. I really liked the characters. George is everything I like in a leading man; he is charming, sweet and funny. He was breathtakingly honest and fun. I liked Frith too, sure she was a little uptight but her inner voice was hilarious and I thought I would really love her. But as the book went on Frith when from someone I liked, to someone I couldn’t stand.
My God she was just so irritating. The more the book went on the more uptight she got. She had a plan for everything and staunchly refused to divert from her sensible and dull goals. She constantly made assumptions about other people’s needs especially where George was concerned. ‘He needs a woman who can do this, looks like this, acts like this’ or ‘he needs to be a father, I won’t be able to give him that’ she was just full of self-pity and never once asked what George wanted or needed. I get that she was hurt by a boy when she was a teen but honestly who hasn’t been?
The romance started well and there was loads of chemistry but when they got together it faded. Honestly I don’t know why they were together. They are nothing alike and none of the issues that were bought up through the book were resolved. Some of these things were quite important like Frith not wanting kids.
Hitched! Started well but really lost its way. Jessica Hart is clearly able to write and proved with the first quarter that she can write well, but the personality of Frith bough this book to its knees.
The publisher provided me with a free copy of this book in exchange for and honest review
A civil engineer meets a handsome man on site - then her daffy socialite sister arrives with demands to hold a celebrity wedding in a stately home. Plans are put on hold and chaos ensues.
Frith Taylor is the less beautiful of two half-sisters, the older and more sensible. She doesn't want her father's money, and has a plan to make it on her own merits as an engineer. Whellerby Hall in Yorkshire is developing a conference centre to help pay the running repair bills. Frith can cope with the incessant rain and mud, the hardy workmen who scorn a female supervisor and the lack of incentive to cook for one. But George the estate manager gets under her skin, with his pleasant admiration, jokes, horses and his putting a random ringtone program onto her phone. Just as she's got to the stage of sharing a meal with him in his cottage, Saffron, society's darling who doesn't know how to earn a living, arrives in hysterics because her chief bridesmaid is letting her down and demands Frith take over the job.
Frith reluctantly agrees to host the hen night as an Edwardian house party, with the agreement of the stately home's owner, and due to capable staff the evening is a success. She's persuaded George to pretend to be her boyfriend, promising that she'll accompany him to his grandmother's party. Fiction slowly becomes reality, despite the snide allegations that George was embezzling from hedge funds in his family's bank. But the conference centre is almost completed, and Frith is applying for more work, once the chaos of the celebrity wedding is over....
HITCHED is a pleasant slow-boiling romp through modern English society, with contrasting characters, from Frith's hard-boiled self-made father who claims nobody looks down on you when you've millions in the bank, to the posh-schooled City bankers who get jobs through family ties, not ability, and look down on everyone. The two sisters are each lovely people, while George's ability to gain the trust of his horses makes him a very sympathetic character.
Jessica Hart always makes sure to capture the very hart of her readers and she has done so again!
In Hitched I discovered that this was one of those delightfully fun and easy reads, with the perfect Jessica Hart touches.
The characters were both very fun to read and each had very delightful surprises up their sleeves for the me as reader.
We have a workaholic "I always mess up everything " heroine and we have the utterly, devistantinly handsome hero that saves her from a "messy " situation.
Mrs Hart used a perfect and very enchanting setting as backdrop. Her characterization was excellent and I completely adored the idea of a wedding to bring two totally stunning characters together, and yes that has been done before but for me not with so much feeling as Mrs Hart has done it in the perfect little pick me up read.
I have also gotten to know that Mrs Hart leaves me with a feeling of love and warmth when reading her work yet this time around I felt just a little something more, the author loaded the book with emotion and truly made a connection me with as reader, through her characters.
Mrs Hart has proved that she once again knows how to add HART to her delightful tales of romance. And ladies do not let the somewhat "boring" cover scare you off ,the brilliance is inside the pages !
5/5 star review
"Getting "Hitched" has never been this romantic"
I was provided a copy of the book by the author in exchange for a honest review.
I kind of struggled with this Modern Tempted book a bit and couldn't figure out why until I read the blurb advertising it: it's written in first person point of view and in this sort of book it just doesn't really work for me as a reader. Things that you could forgive looking at it from a bit of a distance, such as the main character Frith's self-consciousness and her struggle to look beyond her life plan to the thought of relationship, just seemed massively self-involved and a little whiny when viewed from Frith's point of view. It was just a barrier when I read it that I couldn't seem to get past. On the brighter side though, I thought the rest of the characters were really well fleshed out and I loved the caring-but-slightly-annoyed relationship between Frith and her half-sister Saffron. Even her relationship with her absent father was written carefully and well, and those parts of the story were the bits that I really got into. A nice story that was let down for me by the POV. 2.5 stars.
This was cute. Harlequin has started a KISS line and HITCHED by Jessica Heart is a lovely addition to it.
I rather liked the fact that our girl was a real professional in a man's world. She's the engineer on a construction site.
George is charming, but sad. He's been kicked to the curb by his family over doing the right thing. Made me want to smack them as much as it did Frith.
HITCHED follows along as most romances do, and that's why we read this type of book. This was a nice way to spend a couple of hours.
The only "but" that I saw here were some of the names. Frith? Is that an English name? I kept waiting to hear the explanation for it, and it never came. I found that rather odd. I guess it did pair well with her sister's name, Saffron.
Thank you, NetGalley and Harlequin KISS, for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
The plot of the book had potential, but the author wrote such a disagreeable female character that it ruined it. I just hated Frith. She had the worst personality. I hated how insecure she was and the way she kept putting herself down. She blamed it on others and the way they saw her, but nobody, throughout the book, said or did anything bad or hurtful to show it. Also, I didn't like how she mocked her sister's intelligence. Her sister was always nice to her, and she didn't deserve that.
I only gave the book a star for George. He was sweet and shouldn't have ended up with Frith cause he deserved way better.

Nope. I'm just.. Dissatisfied. I honestly expected more after two success with her book before this. I've come to like her lighthearted and fluffy romance, and now I feel like I don't really want to read some other books of her that I already have in my hand.
1. I love the cover 2. The names are ridiculous lol 3. The content of this book: -Silly, poorly built characters -Corny plot -Corny plot -Corny plot
Light and fluffy romance. I liked that some of the tropes/cliches are gender swapped and the sibling relationship felt really strong even between their different lifestyle. A nice little read for a rainy afternoon.
E Frith ci deve fare i conti.
Hitched! is the last of the Kiss launch titles that I read. Once again, it showed how much variety there is across the line. This one threw me though, because it is written in the first person POV, and I struggled with that. It screamed more Chick Lit to me than Harlequin Romance, and I found being constantly in Frith’s head, with no glimpses into what made George tick, disconcerting. I enjoy getting more input from the hero, and as I was only privy to Frith’s thoughts here, that wasn’t possible. I never felt connected to George or his motivations, because of that. Frith’s voice is fun and upbeat, but I have some kind of mental block when I am confronted with category romances written in this point of view. I always have, and it seems, I always will.
Frith has been lassoed in to helping her younger sister plan her extravagant wedding. She doesn’t want anything to do with it , though. Always feeling like an outsider in her own family, she doesn’t get along with her sister’s friends, and her wealthy father isn’t in her good graces. After her parents divorced, Frith watched her mother spiral into unhappiness. Her mother was never able to get over her father, and due to his indifference to her, Frith’s relationship with him withered. Determined to make something of herself without his help, she put herself through school and landed a job at a construction company. Her dream is work at a huge construction project overseas, and she won’t let anything get in the way of her dreams. Not sexy George or her sister’s much publicized wedding. Frith has a plan, darn it, and she’s sticking to it!
I did love Frith’s personality. She is a planner. A mega planner, actually. She works off of five year plans, where everything is spelled out for her as she marches toward her career goals. George, the estate manager for the construction site she’s currently working at, is her exact opposite. He has no plans, and he just takes things one day at a time. He finds Frith’s planning ridiculous. How can you live your life if you’re so worried about sticking to a plan? Frith has developed her five year plan, with no room for a serious relationship, to keep herself from falling into the same trap as her mother. She will never allow herself to feel that passionately about a man, and so her focus is on herself and her career. All of her previous relationships were tepid and easily forgotten. All except one, that is, and that one, awful experience is something that she never wants to repeat.
At first, Frith is able to resist George and his flirty ways. She doesn’t trust him, and she feels that he’s a threat to her plan. As the days tick by, however, and they are both roped in helping with the wedding planning, a companionable friendship develops between them. This is what I enjoyed most about Hitched! The romance is slow to build, but once Frith starts to give in to her attraction for George, it quickly steams up. I am not a huge fan of the love at first sight trope, and am usually not convinced by the HEA, so I liked how Frith and George’s relationship changed and grew. They both have demons from their pasts to face, and together, I know that they will conquer all of their insecurities. Frith’s belief in George was also refreshing. After hearing unfavorable gossip about him, she quickly dismissed it as untrue. She didn’t let the drama overcome her feelings for him, and instead trusted him enough to explain the situation himself. There are so many contemporary romances were the heroine takes gossip at face value, driving the couple unnecessarily apart, so Frith’s trust was nice change. The only thing keeping me from enjoying Hitched! more is the POV.
Two polar opposites find themselves falling head over heels in love in Jessica Hart’s irresistible first-person romance for Harlequin Kiss, Hitched!
Frith Williams doesn’t like to leave anything to chance. Hard-working, conscientious and determined, the dedicated engineer is driven to succeed and has her future all mapped out. She wants to get a big construction job under her belt, and then once she’s gained the necessary experience, she plans to leave England behind and head overseas. Relationships and affairs of the heart are strictly not part of the plan for Frith. Unlike her socialite sister Saffron who lives for wild parties, excessive shopping sprees and designer dresses, Frith is more at home on a building site, dressed for comfort and armed with her plan of action. Frith’s life revolves around her career and when she gets the job that could set her on the path to success, she is adamant that nothing and nobody will mess this up for her – so it’s just a shame that estate manager George Challoner seems to take a particular delight in seeing her get all hot and bothered…
George Challoner is good-looking, charismatic and has way too much charm for his own good. The hunky estate manager may spend his days teasing Frith and making her blush, but she is well aware of the fact that, despite all of the banter and flirting, a man as gorgeous as George would never even contemplate the thought of taking a Plain Jane like herself out for a date. Men like George Challoner would much rather go out with stunning supermodels who look like they’ve just walked off the catwalk and not with a woman who spends her life covered in dust wearing boots and dungarees! However, little does Frith realise that there is more to George than meets the eye…
As part of the illustrious Challoner banking dynasty, George had once lived in a world of affluence and luxury. But upon realizing that not all that glitters is gold, George had turned his back on his old life and instead relocated to the countryside where he has been leading a very happy life as the manager of his great friend Roly’s country estate. When Frith Williams had arrived at Whellerby Hall, George had been absolutely bowled over by her. But despite his best efforts, Frith doesn’t seem to want anything to do with him!
When Frith’s panic-striken sister comes to Whellerby Hall begging her to help her organise her wedding, George immediately offers to help Frith coordinate the society wedding of the year. Thrown together by circumstance and united by a sizzling attraction that simply cannot be denied, Frith and George soon find themselves getting closer and closer…
Will there be wedding bells in the future for them as well? Or will they let stubborn pride and a reluctance to put their hearts on the line destroy their chance of happiness?
Warm-hearted, deliciously witty and absolutely impossible to put down, Hitched! is a brilliant contemporary romance that will tug at your heartstrings and have you laughing out loud. I loved Frith – she was funny, engaging and had hang-ups and issues that we can all relate to and emphatise with and George was absolutely scrumptious. An intelligent and sexy hero with a wicked sense of humour, I defy any woman not to fall madly in love with him!
Smart, sassy and spellbinding from start to finish, feel-good contemporary romance does not get any better than this!

Good book. I really liked both Frith and George. Frith is an engineer working on a project in Yorkshire. She has a life plan for the next five years and no intention of straying from it. She is organized to an insane degree and as a result doesn't have much fun. George is the estate manager who is constantly in her way. He is interested in her but she rebuffs him constantly. When her sister shows up needing her help to plan her wedding George steps in to help.
Frith was an interesting character. She is a workaholic and something of a stick in the mud. She was so determined that she not end up like her mother she was rigidly stuck to following her plan. Every time George asked her out she shut him down. His constant cheerfulness and day to day attitude drove her nuts. When her celebrity sister shows up and talks Frith into helping plan her hen party George steps in to help. This creates a need for them to spend a lot of time together. Frith discovers that she enjoys spending time with George and there is definitely an attraction between them. Because of her lack of self esteem from comparing herself to her sister she doesn't think that George could be interested in her for long. So she keeps reminding herself and him that she will be leaving for an overseas job soon. Even when she realizes that she loves George she still sticks to her plan instead of seeing if there is a way for things to work out. I did like the way she stood up for him to his family.
George is great. He's cheerful, happy in his job and really good looking. He has made a new life for himself after breaking with his family over some ethical problems. I love the way that he keeps trying with Frith until he finally finds a way to spend more time with her. He is great at getting her to loosen up. He has a terrific attitude and I really like the way that he shows her you can work hard and still have fun. I loved the banter between them and his playing with her ringtones is so much fun. I also loved the way that he was there for her when she really needed him. I liked seeing how good he was with his nephews and got a chuckle when they were playing pooh sticks. I also liked the way he was there for his grandmother even though it was difficult being around his family.
I also liked the secondary characters of Saffron and Roly. Saffron was a great foil for Frith. Though she seemed pretty selfish and flighty at the beginning I did see some good changes in her. Roly was a nice guy and I thought he was pretty cool to help the way he did. I liked the way he helped Saffron at the end, though I did see it coming.
The only real problem I had with the book was that it was written in first person. This meant that I didn't get anything from George's perspective which I really missed. It doesn't seem like a complete story without it.
From time to time, I look for cute contemporaries to read in order to lighten my mood after a bad day. Hitched was the perfect cute contemporary because it oozed adorableness. It might be very predictable, but in the end it was just for entertainment.
Hitched! tells the story of Frith Taylor, an engineer, whose baby sister asks her to plan her wedding party. With the help of George, the uptight Frith, manages to plan the party, and along the way falling in love with him.
Frith was a very career-driven woman. She knew exactly what she wanted out of her life and she planned everything carefully. Yes, she has planned 5 years into her future. An engineer, she's incredibly smart and logical. Before she made any kind of decision, she reflected the outcome and then planned. I liked that she was this goal-oriented, ambitious woman who knew what she wanted for herself, but at times I did think she thought too much into her future. Her ardent nature stemmed from her rich father who didn't pay enough attention to her except only to gift her money, which she clearly did not want. I also really liked that Frith didn't accept her dad's money, but instead wanted to stand up for herself. George, on the other hand, was much more of a free spirit. He was spontaneous and very open, not hesitating to speak out his mind. Fun and at the same time irksome, he loved to annoy a defensive Frith. He liked to push her buttons, forcing her to let go a little and have a great time. He was not without his secrets and once his secrets were brought out into the open, my respect for his character grew because it shed so much light on his integrity and honesty.
The relationship between Frith and George was like a yo-yo. It went back and forth with Frith flustered with her growing feelings for George. She wasn't very used to men vying for her attention and has always made sure that no feelings were involved when she was in a relationship. Over the course of the book, Frith learned to open up to George. I thought that the banter between them was really fun. They poke fun at each other and I really enjoyed them as a couple. Of course, the book was very predictable, but I honestly did not care because it was so much fun to read and once in a while it's relaxing to indulge in such books!
If you're looking for a cute, fun read with spunky characters, Hitched is the perfect read for you!
It’s not very often I get chance to read adult books nowadays but I have a huge TBR pile and I’m going through it quite randomly at the minute. This one seemed like a quick and easy-going read at only 224 pages.
The protagonist of this book, Frith (I really hated her name) is a busy woman. She’s just taken on a huge project which she hopes will make it possible for her to get an amazing job overseas in the not too distant future. She has a plan you see, and doesn’t want to stray from it. I loved that Frith was so rigid with her lists and plans because that aspect of her character sounded just like me. She likes to be organised and likes to know exactly what’s going on. However, as she doesn’t want anything to get in the way of her plans, she doesn’t tend to have much fun. Or any really.
Even though Frith is out in the middle of no-where, her celebrity sister Saffron, is planning the wedding of the year and when she has a melt-down, she enlists Frith to help. Saffron is as opposite to Frith as you can imagine and the contrast in characters was a good one. Saffron isn’t actually in the story too much but her being around makes Frith panic and change how she acts. This is where love interest George comes in. Frith needs a date to one of Saffron’s parties and George has been asking her out for ages. While Frith just wants a favour, George wants much more.
The banter between Frith and George was funny throughout the whole book, especially as one character was more into the other to begin with. The two characters are also quite different so their personalities coming together was interesting and entertaining. The journey the pair goes on was light-hearted but also sweet and romantic at the same time. While this is an adult novel, there is no adult content in the ways of sex scenes etc. so this will appeal to readers younger than adult age as well.
It’s been quite some time since I’ve read any chick lit but Jessica Hart reminded me of why I like it so much. The story was a lovely, easy read and one that was entertaining throughout.
This story kind of reminded me of one of those Lifetime movies, or maybe a Hallmark movie? Whichever movies are lighthearted, a little cheesy but still cute. I don't think it's Lifetime because I keep seeing serial killers for husbands and domestic violence victims running away in my head for Lifetime movies. Anyway, this book was cute and of all of the Harlequin Kiss books that I've read, this one was my favorite.
Frith Taylor is an engineer who is more comfortable on a construction site than she is anywhere else. She's smart, she's capable and she's got a plan. One that doesn't include weddings and hen nights (which I'm assuming is the American equivalent of bachelorette parties) but when George offers to help her, she finds herself going along.
Frith and George are complete opposites. She's very rigid in the way that deals with everything in her life which doesn't lead to a lot of wild nights filled with fun. It's hard to be out having fun when you're determined to not end up like your mother. Sticking to her plan has been her M.O. for as long as she can remember and she's not going to let anything or anyone distract her from that. But George is more easy going, always smiling and trying to shake Frith up. He's interested in her because she's interesting and like George, I wanted to shake her up a little too. Seeing the two of them grow closer and closer, the more time they spent with each other was a fun ride. One that I'm glad to have been a part of.
I enjoyed getting to know both Frith and George and I also liked the other characters like Saffron and Roly. This book is told in first person so that might turn off some people because we get this entire story through Frith's POV but it didn't take away from my enjoyment. I liked Frith, she had an engaging voice even though she was kind of uptight. I recommend this book to lovers of chick lit, Kristan Higgins books and contemporary romance. I liked it.

This book is a deceivingly light, fun little contemporary romance. She is a workaholic who has a 5 year plan for her career and love does not come into it. He is a happy-go-lucky, charming, funny, not-a-care-in-the-world kind of guy. The deception is that underneath both characters are deeply-hurt beings. She, Frith, is afraid to open up to love so as not to get hurt therefore is willing to leave instead of love. He, George, is hurt by a family that values reputation more than family and therefore is blamed for risking the family's reputation instead of them rallying around him and standing up for his integrity.
The romance of the story is the best part because it is fun, light and comfortable. George is interested in Frith from the first but she rebuffs him because she has little self esteem. George gently weedles his way into her life first by getting her to go out with him. You know, the old "let's go and discuss your problem over dinner" routine. I enjoyed how he took care of her without her realizing it. They argued and bickered and laughed and enjoyed each other. They knew more about each other better than her sister and future husband did.
The steam was not really there but there was a warmth between the characters that I enjoyed. Taking this from another reviewer here: the author slammed the bedroom door on the reader. Normally, I prefer some more steam but in this case it works. The author wrote in first person and usually it is difficult to read a sex scene as first person. To me, it shows the author has more talent for me to be interested in the characters even without the steamy sex scenes!
This is a new Harlequin series called KISS. I have already read all four in this month's series. I am seriously HOOKED!
Hitched is in the Harlequin brand new series called Kiss. This book is flirty, fun has love scenes and lots of family problems. I liked it.

This was a pretty fun, flirty and cute read. I love ready a book before bed that is pleasant and easy to read. This book was exactly that.
Frith is an interesting character. She seems so frazzled all the time. Then there is George and he always seems so calm, easy going and laid back. It drives Frith nuts and she keeps refusing his advances.
Then her sister enters the scene and she is a huge celebrity, the exact opposite of Frith. Regardless, Frith is the closest thing to a female figure in her life that she would never let her sister down, even if it means she has to be part of her wedding.
Things get more complicated when George offers to organize the ball they were going to throw for her sister at the mansion Frith lives on the grounds of. The Lord of the manor is very nice and completely smitten with Frith's sister even though she's getting married to a rock star.
During Frith's time with George, she realizes that he might not be as bad as he seems. One night pride gets the better of them and the make a deal. What they didn't know, was that this deal would affect their lives in ways they never imagined.
I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others. It didn't jump out and grab me, but it was pleasant none the less. I give this story four stars for being an easy read.
Dude. That blurb sucks. It sucks worse every time I read it too. I dont remember Frith planning her own wedding even once. And what the fuck kind of name is Frith anyways?
In spite of my miff with Frith *gigglesnort* I really enjoyed this book. This is one of those stories where once the girl actually gives into the guys advances, they have a pretty solid relationship. Unfortunately Frith just doesnt see how it fits in her five year plan.
Ugh, I just read the blurb again. I REALLY fucking hate that blurb.
Where was I? Oh yeah So youve got Frith, the career driven woman who is, admittedly, not that likable at times and George, who really is charm personified, on an estate in the English country side with horses and utterly drool worthy ham sammichs
Damn, now Im hungry. See, this is why you needed a snack.
Again Im sort of at a loss. I cant really tell you my favorite moments without ruining the book. Or why the chips on shoulders were there, or how the characters overcame them. I can tell you that its a highly enjoyable little contemporary romance with an ending that was a bit surprising (always refreshing) and I recommend it.
Hitched! very much reminded me of a Jane Austen novel. The terminology used was very British which I admit sometimes lost me, but for the most part reminded me of some of my favorite books. The characters were very Austenesque as well. Roly, or Lord Whellersby, reminded me very much of Charles Bingley from Pride and Prejudice, awkward, yet adorable. Frith was very much Elizabeth Bennet, independent and determined even after she falls for the good looking George Challoner (a nicer Mr. Darcy). Frith’s sister Saffron was flighty and attention seeking just like Lydia Bennet.
I though the story was cute and it was nice seeing George and Frith fall in love instead of the insta-love that often takes place in romance novels. Their friendship turned more was sweet. It was also very nice to see the man making the sacrifice in the end. Normally it’s the woman that seems to give up everything to be with the man she loves, but not this time and that was beyond refreshing. Jessica Hart did a great job bringing these characters to life and creating a believable love story for the modern age that had an old country feel to it.
This book tells the story of Frith, a civil engineer taking care of a project in an estate where George works as estate manager. He is attracted to Frith and has asked her on several occasions, out for date but was ignored by her. Frith have a five years plan which she intends to follow thru and it does not contained time for love relationship. Enter Saffron, her younger half sister who thought of nothing else but her wedding. She has no one to plan her hen party and have requested her sister, Frith’s help to organize it. Frith have no time to follow thru and George offers to let Saffron’s party at the estate. Frith wanted to have a date for the occasion so she comes to a deal with George, that he will be her date for the night and in return, she will accompany him to his grandmother’s birthday.
I enjoyed reading this book very much what with the fun banter between Frith and George. They have different personality but they seem to be able to accommodate each other well. I especially like the scene where Frith stood up for George when his family attached him at his grandmother’s house. It is so heartwarming to see her doing it. ;)
This was a cute read that actually spent some time on building the relationship between George and Firth instead of just rushing into it as is often the case with these types of books. I loved the relationship between Firth and her sister Saffron too, you could tell that they deeply cared for one another even when they were getting on each others nerves.
The one fault I did find with this book is that it was done all from Firth's point-of-view which I found less interesting than I would have found it if I could know what was going on in George's head as well. It also wasn't what I typically think of when I think of Harlequin, but more like something I would think of when I think of "Cosmo". It was very chick-lit, and while I did mange to get through it was some favorite parts, it wasn't one of my favorites.

The practical and ambitious site engineer, Frith is determined to focus on her career and not let romance get in the way. The seemingly laid-back estate manager, George Challoner is equally determined to woo her. Frith’s life gets complicated by the sudden arrival of her flighty and famous model sister. She finds herself landed with the task of organizing her sister’s hen’s night party. George Challoner is charming and helpful. However, at the party, his sordid past is revealed. How Frith and George set about rescuing each other from the clutches of their respective past forms a sweet emotional story.
The story has lots of witty dialogue and that’s just my kind of romance fiction. Amusing, entertaining and emotional it’s a lovely read.
Hitched! by Jessica Hart is a sweet and fun read that you leave you wanting more.

This is a fun light read that is perfect if you want something light and breezy. The hero and heroine are a delight but the hero was swoon-worthy.
Some complaints I have about the book, I felt that it should have had the hero's POV not just the heroine's. I kept wanting to read about the hero's thoughts of situations Also I felt that the heroine was way too negative throughout the book, I got about the fourth or fifth time that she doesn't think she is worth much and that feelings are not part of her five year plan.
This is a new line that Harlequin has come out with recently and I think I like it. This one takes place in England with a girl who's a civil engineer and a guy who is from a banking family but his integrity got him kicked out of the families good graces. Although she's very standoffish with him at first they are able to work through some tough times together, working on her half-sisters wedding plans. I enjoyed the characters and the story line.
Although there is a sexual relationship, it didn't get graphic, so I was able to enjoy the story.
