Born in Visalia, California, I'm a small town girl at heart. I love central California's golden foothills, oak trees, and the miles of farmland. In my mind, there's nothing sweeter in the world than the heady fragrance of orange blossoms on a sultry summer night.

As a little girl I spent hours on my bed, staring out the window, dreaming of far off places, fearless knights, and happy-ever-after endings. In my imagination I was never the geeky bookworm with the thick coke-bottle glasses, but a princess, a magical fairy, a Joan-of-Arc crusader.

My parents fed my imagination by taking our family to Europe for a year when I was thirteen. The year away changed me (I wasn't a geek for once!) and overseas I discovered a huge and wonderful world with different cultures and customs. I loved everything about Europe, but felt especially passionate about Italy and those gorgeous Italian men (no wonder my first very Presents hero was Italian).

I confess, after that incredible year in Europe, the travel bug bit, and bit hard. I spent much of my high school and college years abroad, studying in South Africa, Japan and Ireland. South Africa remains a country of my heart, the people, the land and politics complex and heart-wrenching.

After my years of traveling and studying I had to settle down and earn a living. With my Bachelors degree from UCLA in American Studies, a program that combines American literature and American history, I've worked in sales and marketing, as well as a director of a non-profit foundation. Later I earned my Masters in Writing from the University of San Francisco and taught jr. high and high school English.

I now live in Seattle and Hawaii with my three sons. I never mind a rainy day, either, because that's when I sit at my desk and write stories about far-away places, fascinating people, and most importantly of all, love. I like a story with a happy ending. We all do.

BE MINE, COWBOY by Jane Porter

Suddenly he reached out to her and placed his hand on her knee, his palm warm against her skin. From someone else the touch might have been sexual, but this wasn't sexual Cade, it was loving Cade, the Cade who knew her and had once been so good at comforting her.

I probably should make a category for heroes who are former alcoholics. Alcoholics in remission.

Cade left Rachel five years ago, after she laid down an ultimatum that said he'd have to give up drinking to be with her.

Now he comes back to town, a bouquet of flowers in his hand, two years sober. He finds out Rachel is poor, has lost her house, and is a single mother to an autistic four-year-old.

In a surprising twist for Harlequin, Cade is NOT the child's father. I don't think I'm spoiling anything here, Porter tells you this on page 33.

Porter is not pulling any punches with this story, she goes straight for your gut. This story is meant to be both powerful and tearjerking.

Neither the hero nor the heroine are perfect people, they were both flawed.

That was his girl, back there. His woman. And it was damn hard to walk away from your woman, even if it was the right thing. 10%

Cade realizes he did the wrong thing in walking away from Rachel five years ago, and he realizes her life is fucked up. He has a need to prove himself as a changed man.

He told himself five years ago he was leaving her for the right reasons. He'd told himself he was walking because he wanted a different life... a better life than the one he had with Rachel.

But it wasn't true.

He'd walked away from her out of laziness. Selfishness. He'd left her because he hadn't wanted to change. He'd left to send her a message that he wasn't about to let her start controlling him. He'd had enough of that growing up, being bounced around from home to home in foster care, and he was done being dictated to. Done having people tell him who he was supposed to be and how he was supposed to behave. Done being criticized and marginalized. He was a man and he was going to succeed his way, on his terms.
16%

I feel this on a spiritual level. I completely understand where he's coming from. Instead of judging him, I'm nodding. This makes perfect sense to me.

But, he regrets the decision he made.

Acid burned his belly. He longed to lean out the window and puke. To vomit all the pain out of his body. But it wouldn't help the pain in his heart. 17%

But at times Cade has a short temper, and I can't stand men with a short temper.

"You can get DVD players cheap now, Rachel," Cade said shortly, angry, so angry, and not even knowing why.

"Not cheap enough," she answered, raising her voice even louder to be heard over Tommy's wailing.

Cade's gut hurt. His emotions were so damn raw. "I've seen them for sixty-five bucks - "

"And that sixty-five bucks will pay for ten hours of child care or buy groceries or pay for a half hour of speech therapy,” she snapped, facing him. Color flooded her cheeks, making her gray eyes luminous. “So I have to make choices, and they need to be good choices, and unfortunately buying a cheap DVD player so Tommy can watch Scooby-Doo isn't one of them!”
26%

This woman gets it. Cade doesn't get it. See this scene later in the story:

”What happened?”

“I don't know. Everything's back together but something's still not working. The car's not idling right or it dies while idling, despite replacing the alternator, and Phil doesn't have any more time to figure it out tonight - “

“Yes, he does,” Cade interrupted, reaching for his phone. “He's not going home and leaving you without your car for another day. That's ridiculous. I'm going to tell him to suck it up and work late - "

"Don't." She stretched a hand across the table, placing her fingers over his, stopping him from dialing Phil's number. "His daughter has a basketball game. He needs to be there."

"No - "

"Yes," she said more firmly. "He does. Trust me. He does. I can make it another day without a car."
34%

These scenes make me question about how things are going to work out between these two. I'd prefer a man who doesn't have a tendency to fly off the handle.

Rachel's also flawed. Sometimes I feel like she's fighting Cade's help just to fight.

Rachel wasn't sure she liked Cade telling her what was good for Tommy. Tommy was her son. She was responsible for him. And while she appreciated Cade being kind to Tommy, as well as exposing him to new things, she worried that Tommy was becoming too attached to Cade, forming a bond with someone who wouldn't be able to keep the promises he'd made to her son. Because let's face it. Cade had disappeared on her before. 36%

Again, I completely understand this feeling. Instead of feeling angry with her, I completely understand and sympathize with this. It would be so easy to let Cade sweep in and take care of everything, but she's not sure she can rely on him. Also, I know this feeling of Tommy belonging to her and accepting help from someone else makes her feel like Tommy doesn't belong to her as completely anymore. It can seem ridiculous to someone who hasn't experienced this, but let me tell you, it is true to life.

Even though we see Cade struggle with his temper sometimes, at other times he is surprisingly calm and accepting. I'm never sure what I'm going to get with him.

But Porter knows how to slam you with emotions.

And maybe they were only puppies but still, love was love, and Tommy was in heaven. He was. Now and then he'd let out a little yelp, inarticulate with joy, and Lacey would go to him and give his face a lick, as if he was one of her pups, too. Rachel suddenly turned away as Tommy nuzzled Lacey back, kissing her soft muzzle as if that were the most natural thing in the world for him to do.

She walked to the window and stared out, a hand pressed to her mouth, fighting tears, fighting joy, fighting to maintain control because life wasn't easy for them, and few things were simple for Tommy. But this was, and she was grateful. Grateful that for a couple hours her son could just be, and be happy, and good... not good as in well behaved, but good as in peaceful. Good as in complete and perfect just the way he was made.

“You okay?” It was Cade, and she'd heard his boots as he'd come up behind her but she couldn't totally pull herself together in time.

Rachel nodded, wiping away tears, keeping her back to him.

“What's wrong?”

She shook her head.

“But you're crying.”

“He kissed Lacey,” she whispered, her voice cracking.

“Is that bad?”

She shook her head, wiping tears that suddenly wouldn't stop. “No. It's good. Sweet.” She gulped a breath and struggled to smile through her tears. “It's just that... he doesn't kiss me.”

Cade would never forget that moment. Never. It would be burned into his mind for the rest of his life.

Her face. Those gray eyes, filled with tears and shimmering like silver. Her lips trembling, struggling to smile. And those words. Just four little words.

He doesn't kiss me.

Cade reeled inwardly, sucker punched, as it hit him harder than ever before just what his girl had been going through.

Bravely. Uncomplainingly.

If it'd be okay for a man to cry, he would have cried right then and there because his heart was breaking for Rachel, and for the life she'd lived while he'd been riding bulls and broncs and trying to figure out which end was up and learning how to forgive himself, never mind like himself.

But he'd gotten to the other side of some dark, scary stuff and he was still here, and he was stronger for it. And God help him, but his scars and toughness had to count for something. His scars and banged-up heart still had to be good for something.

They had to be.

“You've raised a beautiful boy, Rachel. You have. You should be proud of yourself.”

HOW'S THE SEX, CARMEN?

So, this is an awkward situation. The book is awkward. Coming back after a five year absence in the hope your woman will take you back? You're sober now, but you fucked up. A single mother raising an autistic son in poverty? While the whole town judges her not only for being a single mother but for having a 'badly behaved' son? This is an awkward and occasionally tearful and angry book.

But Porter makes it clear that these two still have it in bed. When they are flirting with each other and kissing, it's the only time things don't seem awkward between them.

As if reading her mind again, Cade gave her a wry smile and crooked his finger, beckoning her. "Come, darlin'. I might bark, but I don't bite."

She blushed and fidgeted with the string at the neckline of her peasant blouse. "You used to bite."

His smile stretched, his blue eyes warm. "That's right. And you, darlin', used to like it."

Rachel's eyes widened and she gulped, growing warmer by the moment because yes, it had been good with them. Very good. And she'd once thought that maybe it was this way for everyone, but then she'd slept with David and it hadn't been the same.

Kudos to Porter for discussing this truth. Sometimes your first is so fucking amazing you get the incorrect idea that sex is amazing, not realizing sex is only amazing with him. Then when you two break up, you are shocked and saddened to find that sex is not always the wonderful and amazing thing it was with your first. Great job bringing that up, Porter. She brings up a lot of good, truthful points in this short story.

The actual sex is not described, so don't get excited.

TL;DR Touching, heart-rending, awkward story about an alcoholic who reforms and comes back for the woman he left behind. She's poor, a single mother, and raising an autistic son who isn't the most easygoing child. While the story has it's flaws, and I think both hero and heroine could have been better people, I was charmed by Porter's storytelling and enjoyed this. 4 out of 5 stars.

HILL COUNTRY CUPID
by Tanya Michaels

Cute story that is lighthearted about a woman with low self-esteem who tries to set up shy horse rancher Nick with blonde, pretty Farrah. But Tess ends up wanting Nick for herself. But she's too insecure to go after him, or even accept his love. Which made me frustrated.

HOW'S THE SEX, CARMEN?

No sex.

I refuse to shelve this as a BBW romance even though the author says that Tess is 'five to ten pounds overweight' which I refuse to believe makes her a BBW and I also doubt what she is telling me since this woman is a ballet instructor and was in the ballet corps.

Be Mine, Cowboy by Jane Porter
Cade has come back to Mineral Wells to try to renew his relationship with Rachel. They had been in love years earlier, but Rachel couldn't handle his drinking and gave him a choice - straighten up or leave. He left and has regretted it ever since. He eventually straightened himself out and now he wants to show her that he's changed. I loved the way that he knew he had a lot of work to do to show Rachel that he wasn't the same irresponsible jerk. I also loved the way that he was so good with her son and had the patience that was needed to help her with his special needs. Rachel had been heartbroken by Cade's departure, but was fantastic as a mother. Her greatest problem was an over abundance of pride which kept her from accepting help when it was offered. I really liked the way that he refused to give up.

Hill Country Cupid by Tanya Michaels
Series: Hill Country Heroes (Book 3.5)
Tess is known in town as a pretty successful matchmaker. She has known Nick for most of her life and can't understand why the ladies in town keep overlooking him. She makes it her mission to help him overcome his shyness so he can find his soulmate. Nick is happy to accept her help, but soon realizes that the only woman he is interested in is Tess. Both of them have some real self esteem issues. Nick has always been shy and quiet because of his stuttering when he was younger. His older brothers are very outgoing, so he tends to get overlooked. Tess is shorter and curvier than her older sister and always seemed to lose out on everything to her. This also causes her to think that no man will ever be interested in her. When Nick starts pursuing her she can't believe that he really wants her and it takes some hard work on his part to convince her.

Rachel James is a single mom of an autistic son. She recently lost her grandmother and is in the process of moving out of the home that not only she grew up in, but the only home that her young son has ever known. Unexpectedly, Cade King, comes knocking at Rachel's door. Cade was Rachel's first and only real love. Several years prior, Rachel told Cade that he had to stop his drunken ways or he could no longer be a part of her life. Surprisingly, he got up and walked out of her life. She was shocked that he could just leave and forget all that they had and shared. When he showed up at her door she was full of emotion. She still had strong feelings for Cade, but she couldn't allow him into her life knowing how much his drinking affected her. She also wouldn't allow that around her son.

Rachel was having a streak of bad luck. First she loses her grandmother. Then she has to deal with losing the house that she grew up in and then her car not only breaks down, but is going to cost her more money than she can afford. Thankfully Cade is there to help drive her around. Rachel learns that Cade has battled his drunken demons and has been sober for a while. Will Rachel allow Cade back in her life? How will Rachel's autistic son feel around Cade?

I really enjoyed this book. It was very well written and drew me in right away. I liked the characters a lot and found myself rooting for Rachel. Once again, Jane Porter has produced a very well written book that draws you in right from the beginning. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a great read with a romantic story.

A honest and heartwarming story.
My Cowboy Valentine by Jane Porter and Tanya Michaels is a book with two great stories in it.
Jane Porters story Be Mine, Cowboy is a honest and heartwarming story dealing with hard everyday problems but it's a Harlequin so you are guaranteed a happy ending.
It's the first Harlequin American Romance story I have read by Jane Porter but I can honestly say that I loved the story. It made my cry and laugh and had two great characters in it. The heroine, Rachel and the hero, Cade.
I love reading Jane Porters Harlequin Presents and I truly love them, but I read the Harlequin Presents when I need a big romantic story.
This is different, more honest to real story that you easily can relate to. It deals with everyday problems and I like that. I can highly recommend this story for Valentines Day.
Tanya Michaels story Hill Country Cupid is also a great heartwarming story. It's the first story by Tanya Michaels that I have read but surely not my last.

Delightful! I loved the duet of novellas in My Cowboy Valentine. Jane Porter manages to draw the reader in, making us care about her characters immediately. Be Mine, Cowboy is a wonderful story of reunion and redemption, of love and forgiveness. I especially enjoy the heroine, Rachel James. She is seriously down on her luck and burning the candle at both ends...but she doesn't let our hero rescue her. I love that she found love on her own terms, not as the answer to her problems.

Tanya Michaels's novella Hill Country Cupid is a sweet story of a matchmaker who doesn't realize that she's met her own match. Michaels manages to present two people who always felt like second best without making it too precious. A very enjoyable read.

My Cowboy Valentine is perfect for Valentine's Day--or any time you want the sweet feel of an American Romance.

I really liked this book, first its about a cowboy and he comes back after turning his life around to his first love. I love a second chance book, and who doesn't like a good cowboy book, Cade comes back into Rachel's life and he wants her back...of course she has to learn to love again for he left her heart-broken, and she has to think about her little boy Tommy that has autism, of course Tommy starts liking Cade alot and is just the beginning of a good story...gotta read this book to know the ending. I like Jane's books, she writes a story like I'm one of the characters and she keeps you wanting more...

I haven't read this style book in many years and wasn't too sure about reading it. Just a few pages in, I thought, "No worries, this is pure Jane Porter!" I'd have love to see this story in a longer, women's fiction novel. My heart was won when I read this line: "Absolutely perfect and just the way God intended him to be." Like Rachel's son, my son is profoundly handicapped. I have said this exact thing numerous times.

Jane doesn't shy away from any topic and handles them all with finesse and grace. She makes me want to meet her characters!

As a note, I only read the first story in this book. I don't think I can read the second after reading such a horrendous story.

Be Mine, Cowboy is the story of Cade King fighting for the love of Rachel James. You can get the gist of the story from the goodreads description if you haven't read the book.

I understand the appeal of this book, it is a feel good day dream of what many of people want, a former romantic partner to come save the day and make the world a better place. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with stories that are supposed to make us feel good. In a world that is so frightening and often feels hopeless, it's nice to have something to retreat into in order to relax.

The problem that I have with this story is that is terrible from a mechanical standpoint. There is no sense of time in many passages, leading to unnecessary confusion about what is happening in a particular moment. At one point, you're led to believe Cade King got hit in his truck by a bicycle but you realize through the page that it's a flashback to when he got git by a bicycle as a pedestrian. There's no indication of a shift in time, which I could understand if it was done intentionally, but it very much feels like Jane Porter forgot the fundamentals of writing at points.

It's a trashy story. It's not good. I don't recommend it. I did read all 116 pages, although had it been any longer I would have given up.

4 STARS

My Cowboy Valentne is two shorter stories set around Valentines Day.Be Mine, Cowboy and
Hill Country Cupid. Both also have cowboys, kids & romance.

Rachel is a single mom and things are tight. Her son is 4 and has special needs. He is cute. Rachel is trying her best to give her son what he needs. She has lost her home and then things get worse.

Cade is a rodeo champion and a acholic. 5 years ago Rachel wanted him to get help with his drinking. If he did not then they were done. Cade chose boose over Rachel. Now Cade is sober and he is back. Will he remain sober and can they work things out.

I know that boose can really mess up peoples lives. It is hard to believe in acholics word. But they can change with hard work. I like both Rachel and Cade's characters in the book. They both have faults and good traits. They are likeable.
I enjoyed reading Jane's story and will look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Hill Country Cupid Tess sees the single father Nick looking shyly at another single mother of one of her balet students. Tess decides that Nick needs help to connect to his high school dream girl.

Nick was shy. He had a stuttering problem as a young kid. He is a good caring father.
When Tess shocks him by telling him that she would help him to get the other women.
Things don't go as planned.

I like Nick he does not give up on when things are important to him. It was too short I wanted more.

I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley.

My Cowboy Valentine – Jane Porter & Tanya Michaels

Be Mine, Cowboy by Jane Porter
Cade is a recovering alcoholic who is back in Rachel’s life after walking out on her five years ago when she attempted to help him with his problems. In the five years since her heart was broken, Rachel has been struggling to raise her autistic son, doing everything she can to protect him from people who don’t understand him. Now that Cade is back she is struggling with feelings that never went away and has to decide whether or not she can trust him not only with her but also with her son.

Be Mine, Cowboy is a sweet, emotional read. Rachel’s love for her son is evident in everything she does and you really feel for her and the issues that can come with raising a special needs child. Cade knows that he hurt Rachel when he left and is doing what he can to make amends and win Rachel back. I really enjoyed their story and Jane did a great job. My only wish is that it was a longer story.

Hill Country Cupid by Tanya Michaels
Tess is known for doing what she can in helping out her friends in giving them a push towards something that they want. She’s known Nick for several years and decides that he needs help in courting the woman he’s lusted after since high school. While helping Nick become more comfortable in flirting with the opposite sex, Tess realizes that she has feelings for Nick but doesn’t want to be anyone’s second best.

Hill Country Cupid is a nice, fun Valentine’s read. I loved Nick and Tess together and seeing them overcome the obstacles keeping them apart. I really enjoyed Nick’s determination to show Tess that she is his first choice above anyone else and that they belonged together.

Be Mine, Cowboy

Rachel James did a lot of growing up when Cade King walked out of her life. She has a career making custom cakes and an autistic son to keep her life busy and full. Rachel has no time and less energy to spend on romantic frivolity.

Cade knows he was a fool to ever walk out on Rachel. His successful rodeo career will never fulfill him the way loving her did. Now he is back with one goal in mind and no intention of backing down.

Rachel has already been burned once. Now she has more than her own heart to worry about; she has her son’s. But Cade is not just a rodeo champion; the cowboy knows how to win no matter what the odds.

Hill Country Cupid

Tess knows exactly what Bailey Calhoun needs in her life. Bailey needs a new mom just as much as her dad needs a good woman to love. Fortunately for the Calhouns, Tess is a matchmaking expert.

Nick Calhoun cannot believe Tess wants to help him win the woman Nick has been crushing on since high school. His daughter Bailey is longing to have a special woman to fill the empty space in their life. With one failed marriage in his past, Nick is not convinced he can find and keep the kind of woman Bailey needs.

New clothes and a new outlook might be just what the love doctor ordered. But the more time Nick and Bailey spend with Tess, the less interest he feels in dating. In fact, the only woman Nick wants to attract is Tess.

Both Ms. Porter and Ms. Michaels have penned quick reads with simple plotlines and loveable characters. The two westerns mesh nicely in this single volume. This book will probably not wind up on the read it again and again list, but they are a pleasant way to escape for an evening.

My Cowboy Valentine by Jane Porter and Tanya Michaels
Be Mine Cowboy by Jane Porter
Cade is back in town after riding rodeo and he brings flowers to Rachel's grandmother only to learn she died years ago.
Rachel is there and has just finished decorating Mia's wedding cake but he thinks it's her wedding cake for her wedding the next day. He had his chance once. Larry at the diner sets him straight and he goes to visit with Rachel
to find she has a disabled child and she's lost her grandmother's house. Next day she can't deliver the cake her car dies. He rescues her and they go to pick up Tommy her son and he gets to learn more about her life now.
Love the time they spend together where he gets to learn about Tommy and how he can help him because of the research he's done and
Rachel gets to find out about him since they broke up many years ago.
To me the best part was learning about the disability and how to handle it with loving people around...

Hill Country Cupid by Tayna Michaels
Tess Fitzpatrick ran the dance studio. She's going to help Nick Callhoun get a woman. His other brothers on the family ranch haven't done much better.
In return he can teach her about how to ride a horse and not be so afraid. They get to spend a lot of time together, usually in the company of his daughter, Bailey.
Because of that others think THEY are a couple, instead of Tess helping him get a higher level woman.
First they get his hair cut, then she pushes him into a clothing store where he is to ask the advice of the sales clerk. She goes off with Bailey for girl time. She teaches him everything to do on a date and it is backfiring...

My rating is only for Be Mine, Cowboy by Jane Porter
It is a sweet contemporary read. I can feel the heat of the hero and heroines attraction. I love that the h's struggle to raise her son isn't glossed over - that she did not appear to be saint. Instead she ended up a heroine I admired, and made me cheer for her knight in shinning armour. In this case, her cowboy with shinny buckles.
The hero, sigh....he made me want my own cowboy. Enough said.
I don't want to short change how great this hero is. The book blurb is correct about him. But what endeared him to me is his willingness to lay is heart at the heroine's feet once again. He knew he screwed up in the past and he knew is neither perfect today but he knew the heroine was the 'it' girl for him and no one else. He knew how slim his chance is but he's trying anyway. When made an unavoidable mistake, his speech asking for one more chance was heart melting for me. Something to the effect of: "I know I made a mistake, and I will again but no one can love you and your son as much as I do."
Great read. I will definitely check this author's other books.

Unfortunately, the other story cannot hold my attention. To me it's trying so hard to be funny that it lost my interest.

Wow. What a great Valentine's Day gift from Harlequin! I started to refer to this book as half tragedy and comedy, but I think that oversimplifies the two stories in this collection.

Porter's story has all of the pathos of a great tragedy: a rodeo star who's a recovering alcoholic and a single mother with an autistic child who's about to be evicted from the only home she's ever known. Still in the midst of such a dire situation, Rachel shows great strength and humor as she raises her son. It doesn't take Cade long to figure out that Rachel's the only girl for him, but will Rachel be able to trust him again?

Michaels' story is liberally laced with her trademark humor starting with the premise: town matchmaker Tess thinks it's high time the women of Fredericksburg took note of single father Nick. Even though this story of playing cupid seems light, Michaels weaves in some truly emotional moments revolving around the underlying vulnerabilities of both Tess and Nick. When Tess's tutelage helps Nick find his confidence, will he be able to convince Tess that she's the only valentine for him?

A kiss from a cowboy…

Be Mine, Cowboy by Jane Porter

Years ago, Rachel James gave Cade King an ultimatum, and he walked. Heartbroken, Rachel moved on. Life is tough as a single mom, but Rachel is doing just fine.

Now Cade's back after burning up the rodeo circuit, and things are different. He's sober, but with one burning regret. He has some work to do to show Rachel he's changed—but he's up to the challenge.

Hill Country Cupid by Tanya Michaels

Tess knows what young Bailey Calhoun wants: a mom. So when she sees shy cowboy Nick Calhoun giving someone the eye, Tess goes into full matchmaking mode.

Nick is happy to have Tess's help…but her matchmaking backfires. How can he convince his cupid that she's the one he wants?

These are two contemporary romances being sold as one book. They are sweet and easy reads. Be Mine is a bit predictable, but Hill Country Cupid was a pleasant surprise.

2 short stories from Jane Porter and Tanya Michaels

Be Mine, Cowboy - Jane Porter (4.5 stars)
I'm not really drawn to the story. But I just loved Rachel's character for her love and struggle to raise Tommy, her son with special needs, as a single mother. I loved the idea that most people needs most of the time was second chance, and that's what exactly Cade and Rachel both need.

Hill Country Cupid - Tanya Michaels (4.5 stars)
This was my very first with Tanya Michaels and I loved it. I smiled a lot while reading this one. I loved the idea when the matchmaker was actually the one who needed help. I also loved when Nick finally realized who he really wanted, how he smoothly trying to made allies with Tess' two best friends. :D

I really enjoyed reading these two stories. A very nice, sweet reads for your valentine. ^^

It has probably been about a DECADE since I’ve read a traditional romance. A friend of mine knows that I love everything that Jane Porter writes…so when she saw her Harlequin American Romance novella, My Cowboy Valentine at the store, she bought it for me. It’s a sweet and easy read. I finished it in one setting. There are two stories, Be Mine, Cowboy by Porter and Hill Country Cupid by Tanya Michaels. Both are great. The Porter story really hit home as the heroine, Rachel James, has a son with autism, as I do. Porter really nailed the struggles and heartbreaks involved in parenting a child with special needs. I’m very lucky, because I have a wonderful husband who is a fantastic dad. But I do have friends who are single moms in a similar situation and dating gets very, very complicated. Loved that Rachel found her cowboy! Sweet & romantic.

Really interesting tale that had my attention the whole time. The pace was wonderful and the characters engaging. Great dynamic in the relationship that made it very believable. Beautiful storytelling that entertained the whole time!

It had really great flow and did the job of making me think at times. I love a book that taps into my emotions. I am a real sucker for a sexy romance!! I laugh, I cry and I wish the hero were real so he could be mine! LOL

I would love to see more from this author! Definitely one to watch in the future.

'My Cowboy Valentine' has two very enjoyable romances. One story will make you cry and the other will make you laugh. 'Be Mine Cowboy' by Jane Porter tells the bittersweet romance of Rachel James and Cade King. When Cade walked out on Rachel, he broke her heart. Now he's back, but Rachel is a single mother with a special needs child. The author deals with real issues while giving the reader a memorable romance. Tanya Michaels in 'Hill Country Cupid' shows how a born meddler, Tess Fitzpatrick, plays a matchmaker for Nick Calhoun and finds that she wants to be his love and a mother to his daughter, Bailey. The chemistry between these two will make you heart beat faster. This book is perfect for the holiday.

My Cowboy Valentine was such a treat with two great novellas in one package. I always know that with Jane Porter it will be a great read, and I was pleasantly surprised to love Tanya Michaels' novella as well. Porter's Cowboy Be Mine, not only taught me something about autism, I thought she handled the topic beautifully and realistically. Porter never ceases to amaze me on how she can pack so much into each story and character. Michaels' novella had a great sense of humour and the characters were very likeable and I will defintely read more of her stories.

If you want to see the soft side of cowboys, My Cowboy Valentine is the way to go. Both stories, Be Mine, Cowboy & Hill Country Cupid feature cowboys just made for falling in love with. Jane Porter does a great job at giving the reader the satisfaction of a reunion story with a happy ending. Tanya Michaels shows us that good things can happen when you spend a little time stepping outside your normal routine. Both stories are funny & heartwarming.

You get 2 great short stories in one book!! Be Mine, Cowboy by Jane Porter is sweet. It grabs your attention right from the beginning. Jane delivers a great story every time and it's perfect for Valentine's day.

Hill Country Cupid by Tanya Michaels is a fun story that also keeps you wanting it to continue. These two stories and authors compliment each other and have you not wanting the stories to end.

I really liked this book. Two stories of cowboys in one book. Love how Cade comes back into Rachel's life with a desire to make things right with her. He has regrets about their past relationship ending so he has to figure out a way to break through her barriers and fix what his drinking caused him to lose.
Great valentine's day book!

This story is about a cowboy named Cade who was with Rachel many yrs prior but left after not taking her ultimatum. He has since returned and is a changed person. Now that Rachel has moved on, will she be willing to see Cades changes! Ms. Porter wrote another great Harlequin romance. Can read this story over and over.

I wasn't in love so much with Be Mine, Cowboy. I found Rachel irritating and too harsh. Other than that, not a bad story.

Hill Country Cupid was really cute. I enjoy the stories where the characters have that moment that they realize that the other is the one they didn't realize they were looking for (if that makes sense?). I thought the dialogue was amazing as well.

Be Mine, Cowboy speaks of redemption and something like forgiveness. The hero is flawed, but masculine at the same time.

Hill Country Cupid brings together a handsome hero, who still feels out of place in society, with a heroine, who also does not recognize her appeal.

Two stories - one by a favorite author, Jane Porter, that revolve around cowboys, kids, Valentine's Day and romance. What else would you expect from a Harlequin? Nice to curl up with.
