A typical James Patterson-fare which one can finish in one comfortable sitting without having to take a break, Private London is one of the best stories in the Private Series which tells the story of a young girl named Hannah Shapiro with a disturbing past largely owing to circumstances associated with her mother. And eight years later, her past returns to haunt her when Hannah goes to London for school.
Like some other Patterson novels, there is another tale with a twist within the story about young women being abducted and their bodies found defaced in a bizarre way in London. Patterson takes you on a wild ride of horror, seemingly into the complex reasoning of a serial killer, convincing the reader to keep on turning page after page.
The stories merged into a single uniform story and Dan Carter, former Royal Military Police Sergeant and now head of Private's (the world's most exclusive detective agency) London office steps in.
James Patterson is a master at blending what seem to be unrelated sub-plots into one cohesive unit. In Private London, there are situations where the plots seemingly spiraled out of the main story but Patterson, the master that he is, strikingly manage to tie together the loose ends in a complicated twist of events.
Private London is a thrilling story that is as engaging as any other James Patterson's novels.

A quick read, but disappointed. It seems like his newer books lack some intrigue. They move around to much in the story line. The books could be written in less than 200 words...to much fluff.

personal response: This book was a lot better than what i thought it would be and it surprised me.
plot summary: When a private security firm takes on a girl who has been kidnapped and she is now going to england to go to college. Her god father sent this very special man ex military and very well trained to watch her and keep and eye on her. He does not do a very good job and she gets mixed up with some bad people and they plan some very stupid things to do for money like plan her own kidnapping again so they plan carefully and it still goes wrong they drugged their friend and she still was able to beat one of the men up anyway so he hits her on the head with a baseball bat and she ends up in a coma otherwise the plan goes off without a hitch and they keep Hanna "locked" up when really she is the one negotiating the demands for her release little did she know she was being hypnotized and being forced to create her own kidnapping, so when jack her caretaker figures this out he tries to take her back but something spooks the people holding her and they demand more money
recommendation: to anyone who likes not well written stories and confusing books

Of course, I don't think that you can ever go wrong reading a James Patterson book. He is one of my favorite authors. Love the character Jack Morgan, the owner of Private International. But I have to say that I really liked Dan Carter the head guy at the London office as well. while he can probably kill grown men with his pinky toe, it only takes a "look" from the women in his life to give him pause and completely unsettle him. I was amused reading Dan's dealings with both is ex-wife and his what? Best friend I guess you would call her even though he is in love with her. Alas, it is not to be as she is married. But you just never know in the future do you? LOL
What Jack and Dan have in common is that they both seem to like, love and care about many women in their lives and it is fun reading how they deal with all that.
Of course the London setting is appealing in this book too. I mean, who doesn't love London? And now that Dan's ex-wife is going to work for Private, I feel that things are going to get a tab bit more interesting.

May 6, 2013After reading Private Berlin, I was interested in reading more. Private London was written before Private Berlin. Jack Morgan, the founder of Private, tries to saves a young girl from death after she and her mother are abducted and her billionaire father refuses to pay the ransom. Hannah watches her mother die and Jack Morgan saves Hannah. 8 years later, Hannah is graduating from college and she disappears. Jack uses the resources of Private London to find her. In a related plot, girls are being killed and mutilated in a sick way. The head of Private's London bureau, Dan Carter gets drawn into the murders, because his ex wife is in charge of the mutilation cases. The plot weaves both stories together in an exciting and enjoyable way.

I love Patterson's books but this was a difficult read because I do not know anything about London and did not know the meaning of many of the words used by Londoners. A struggle to read for me but an exciting story line.
