In this, the fifth book of the bestselling Mystic Saga, we return to New York City to the very day in 1949 when Braxton makes his leap from the Empire State Building. Following the events in book four, it’s now known that Evelyn wasn’t in New York alone that day. Over the past two years, Cyan has found time to get a job and settle down in New York to be close to the one he loves.

With the police closing in on a curiously powerful man who has no history prior to Roswell 1947, and a Mystic closing in on Evelyn, there’s not much room for mistakes. Especially when all the while, the Earth itself is in danger of something far worse brought on by the blatant disregard for the laws of causality (in book 3).

Scott's first novel, Mommy's Choice, was originally published in paperback under the pseudonym Scott Curtis. In under a year on the bookshelves, that novel won the National Christian Choice Book Award for romantic suspense. When Scott moved to a different publisher and started making his novels available to Kindle readers, he returned to his real name and reduced the prices to the absolute minimum allowed by Amazon.
Scott McElhaney currently resides in Ohio with his wife and two sons. He's a Desert Shield veteran of the US Navy, having served on the USS South Carolina CGN-37. Although his books didn't become available to Kindle readers until December 2011, over 250,000 digital copies have been purchased to date and he still maintains a position in the top 100 worldwide in the "Sci-fi Space Opera" category.

Convergence returns to the main plot line that was developing through book 2 and 3. Where book 4 was a way to grow connected to the characters Cyan and Evie, answer questions about the race we learned about in Violation, as well as make a lot more sense in context of the events that played out in Convergence.

The new installment of the Mystic Saga does not leave much room for a breath. This is probably the most chaotic (as in lots of things going on), action packed book of the series. Braxton goes a little crazy trying to kill his target, Cyan and Braxton both get in trouble with the law (for different reasons) which constantly peruse them, poor Evie is constantly bombarded with stimulas, and the introduction to the CtynMech make for a very big addition to the series.
I give it a solid 4 stars. Good, fun style, always good dialogue, and lots of neat "plot twists" (CtynMech!). At times though I wish there was a little less action, but I understand why there had to be (it wasn't useless or mindless). But in the style of the author, Convergence felt completely different from the other books, but it still felt like you were reading the same series. Oh, and in closing: Rion Incident. Don't know what that is? Read Convergence and find out. Easily one of the best books of the series and well worth the wait.

Well, now that I have completed the series, my view of the whole story is this:

The plot as a whole is good - the idea of life on another planet(s) that may or may not be more technologically advanced than us. Then something happens that allows us to travel there etc. The idea that time travel exists and the repercussions of this.

All this is a good starting point. However, my problem is that each installment has its flaws - whether that be plot holes, character development or just the overall timing/flow of the story.

All that aside, I really enjoyed reading the Mystic Saga and look forward to reading more from the author

Convergence

This book, overall, is the conclusion of the Mystic Saga 1-5 book omnibus. In assorted ways it does wrap up many things left dangling in the previous 4 books.

Convergence, like Indenture, Legacy, Violation, and Judgment is a fast fun read. I could have a field day with critique but when you're juggling time travel, ancient societies, advanced societies, and a bevy of great science fiction, while hooking up with characters interesting enough to care about and you're burning pages... it isn't really fair to point out all the glitches.

If memory serves, Convergence, is one of the books that makes sense straight from the beginning. Other offerings in this “Saga” can be baffling as far as half way through the books. I do have to admit that, confusion or not, each outing in this Saga does leave you satisfied as you turn the last pages.

In this outing we have primarily Evie, The Cyan trifecta previously known as Stein, and the Mystic, Braxton (Minus Diana) who has appeared at least a couple times in the overall Saga. In Convergence, let's not forget the hovering deus ex machina lingering to play its part in the conclusion. I don't want to offer any spoilers but will offer that I was enthralled and turning pages. Tackling the massive mind game of time travel is something many science fiction writers have tried and failed. In this attempt I was sincerely intrigued.

I do believe that the 5 books in the Mystic Saga should be one book, so get the omnibus rather than taking these out one at a time. My 4 stars on Convergence is a 3.5 rounded up as it does do some things for the overall Saga that needed to get done. I could write a quick hidden spoiler on this Goodread's review but if you picked up this one, you're going to finish no matter what I do, or do not, say.

Probably the best of all five books in the saga. This and book four seem to tie the whole story together beautifully. Well worth the price and the time
