The action packed conclusion to the Dark Matter Heart Trilogy!
Cor, Taylor and Caitlyn fled the city, leaving a trail of chaos in their wake. Attempting to regroup, the trio learns that Caitlyn's actions have put Cor's mysterious new friend, Diana, in mortal danger. He must risk everything to save her, only to discover that she may not be who he thought she was. Secrets, lies and new enemies are uncovered down every path that Cor takes as he desperately tries to make things right and so he can ride off into the sunset in search of a normal life.
Last in trilogy but I'd be surprised if we don't hear from these guys again.
This again picks up exactly where 'Chaos' left off with Cor, Taylor, Caitlyn and Renfield leaving to get themselves together and work out their next move, they're being followed by Detective Orlovsky. They're tired and hungry and they've all been through so much. The pace of this book is much faster than the previous two and there's never a full moment. Cor has lost so much and blames himself for most of it, Taylor is as resourceful as ever and for along time we're left wondering exactly what's going on with Caitlyn. While the trio and Renfield leave town Trent is left behind and it soon becomes apparent that this is where the danger lies, Diana is also back but is everything as it seems. I loved the first book but I think this is the strongest of the three, when it comes to the last book in a trilogy it's always difficult to keep everyone happy after all after reading all three we know the characters and all have our own opinions and ideas how everything should be rounded up so I have to say on the whole I'm happy how this finished and I'd be very, very surprised if we don't hear from these guys again it was certainly left open enough for another series but then closed up enough to end this series....you know what I mean. Caitlyn for me has been the weak spot in both the previous books and surprisingly enough I liked her more in this one despite a decision she made that I still don't really understand, well I do but it didn't fit for me. There's one issue from the previous book that's not mentioned at all so I can only assume it's been left open it will feature in future books, I hope. All in all this has been a fantastic series, I love these characters and hope we get more of them.
Paths Of Thorn and Flame sees the gang in hiding. They dont know who to trust and are running out of time and food. Caitlyn hears of a plot to take Diana so Cor has to go save her. He finds out she is not whom she seems. POTAF was the best one of all three. It was action packed from the start and didn't let up. From the start the gang are risking everything to try to have a normal life. Cor has lost alot and doesn't want to lose any more. While I really liked this one some things just annoyed me.
What was the point of saying Cor was a descendant from Dracula?? It wasnt explored and there was no need. Also why did Caitlyn go to the dark side, so to speak? What was the whole point of it? Why did she kidnap Diana? It just seemed the story was a bit silly at times.
This is a good ending to the trilogy. There is lots of action and some suspense. I liked that Diana was brought back into this book, and thought she was good at helping Cor calm down and think things through. I liked Taylor, but I'm still not so sure that he could be where he is as an orphan/teenager. Caitlyn is a confusing character; I'm still not sure what to think of her. I didn't understand the point of her leaving at all. I didn't love what they did to the blood bank van, but I guess it was better than the alternative. I felt the part with Orlovsky was not resolved. It was mentioned later on, but we never saw it through. The ending was ok. I felt like he was leaving it open for either another book or another series. I liked the series and thought this ending fit. There is violence, gore, deaths, some gruesome descriptions, and an "intimacy" scene. I would recommend it for college age and up (This one may not be that high, but the first one is.....so therefore, the others are as well.). Action packed from start to finish, Paths of Thorn and Flame will have you on the edge of your seat as Nathan Wrann continues the story of Cor Griffin- teenage vampire trying to find his place in the world. Following the craziness that happened in From out of Chaos (if you missed my review for that click HERE) we are taken a whirlwind of events that have Cor and his friends take on dangerous missions which risk their lives and others around them. With no clues on where "The Creeper" has gone the group of friends face another enemy which leaves Cor trying to figure out who he can really trust.
Thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable Paths of Thorn and Flame is a great read for guys and gals who want an action packed escape from reality. I would highly recommend it to readers between the ages of 13 and 25.
Just couldn't make myself finish this book. Let's kill the parents, "fall in love" with 2 different girls within a matter of weeks and kidnap a cop. No thank you.
