i really enjoyed this book and hope that Richard gets his own story! maybe with Jase??

This book was a hodgepodge for me, some things I liked and several that made my eyes roll in exasperation. The basic story was interesting, but not hugely original, and the writing fairly strong. My interest was held from beginning to end, although it wasn't a book I couldn't put down.

The characters were likeable enough, but we don't really get to know much about them, and the story was entertaining. It also jumped around far too much veering from one direction to the other as though the author wanted certain things in the story whether they fit or not. I'll put my specific issues behind a spoiler tag...

Richard was a character who never really made sense to me. Presumably Hunter is working with him to find out who was stealing women from Richard's clubs and selling them. First - and I'll admit to having no expertise in this area - if Hunter wants to go undercover and gain the trust of the bad guys why the heck is he openly friendly with Richard, the man who owns the clubs these baddys are using to find potential slaves? Within the club Hunter and Richard are seen to share women and confide in one another, so why would any human traffickers assume Hunter wants to be part of their "gang"?

Then there was Hunter's possessive attitude toward sharing Kerri. Evidently he and Richard share submissives, but Hunter doesn't want to share Keri. Kerri is too innocent and he can't stomach the idea of another man's hands on her.... but then he does a complete turn around and shares her with Richard. Not even the kind of sharing where Richard is limited in what bits he can touch, no full on double penetration with a young woman who has never experienced any such thing. Yes, she showed some interest when it was brought up, but that didn't mean she was ready for such a thing to happen in reality. Yet the entire scene seemed to be hinged on the expression of interest and arousal on Kerri's face, and presumably Hunter's desire to give her what she wants. It felt like a complete 180, suddenly included right after we read that Hunter never want to do anything like that. It made me dizzy and I lost faith that the story was anything more than a thin excuse to include a bunch of hot scenes. When scenes like that fit into the story they're great, and very hot to read, but when tossed in like some sort of check list I just find them frustrating.

Throughout the story Kerri asks reasonable questions about what is expected of her as Hunter's submissive, but there is never much of a discussion about hard limits or specifics of any kind. That's fair enough, if the author doesn't want to include a lot of negotiation which can be rather dry, but I would have felt a bit more secure in their HEA if their had been some little indication that such a discussion had taken place. I suppose the title tells us she is finally going to leave it all up to trust in Hunter but, in all honesty, I wasn't convinced that was a good idea. The man flip flopped more than several politicians I know.

There is just something about this book that struck an emotional chord in me. I re-read it occasionally because I just not! Kerri is a law student and is in lust with one of the lawyers at work. She is waiting to go into a club with her friends when he approaches her to help him out, she agrees before realizing what she is agreeing to! Hunter needs her to act as his submissive in a BDSM club that is in the private area of the club she is waiting to go into. Shaken by the experience, she is none the less intrigued and agrees to continue to help Hunter. Hunter is amazed at how well Kerri fits in with him and the lifestyle. He never thought he could have forever and that is all he thinks about with Kerri. He pushes he further and harder into her submission and realizes he can't let her go and has to convince her to stay with him forever!

This book is a wonderful debut! Its steamy, has a sexy hero & a fantastic interesting storyline! I really look forward to Lavender's next one!
