To win her heart, he’ll have to touch off her internal combustion.

Even after ten long years, Frankie Sepkaski’s success as the best vintage car mechanic around still hasn’t overcome her teenage rep as a promiscuous troublemaker. No matter how tempting the prospect, the last thing Mac Galbraith needs is for her to take him out for a spin. Especially since his family thinks he should be looking for a prospective wife among the local socialites, not slumming with a grease monkey.

Mac likes vintage rides, but buying a new one every month just to have an excuse to see his ridiculously sexy mechanic in her overalls? That’s pathetic. When she finally says yes to his date offer, he’s not fooled. It’s only because she has every intention of using him to indulge her fantasies—then walking away. But Mac knows something else: underneath her bad-girl persona is a woman worth her weight in lug nuts.

It might take a crowbar to get her to admit she has feelings for him, but he plans to put the pedal to the metal to convince her to keep him around for more than just a test drive.

Warning: Sweaty, down-and-dirty sex between a mechanic and her best client. Read at your own risk. Dangerous curves lie ahead, and these roads are slippery when wet.

Mac likes vintage cars, but he likes his mechanic Frankie Sepkaski even more. They are a case of opposites attract, he is from a prominent family, with a successful career as an architect and she is the grease monkey trying to take over her father’s vintage car business who can’t seem to live down her promiscuous past. After buying a new car every month just for the excuse to see her he finally wears her down enough to agree to a date. Afterwards Frankie decides she may not be willing to open herself up enough to be Mac’s girlfriend, but she is interested in becoming his friends with benefits.

Overdrive was a short, fast read. When the story starts out Mac has already had his sights set on Frankie for a while. Their relationship has been ongoing, apparently he has asked her out repeatedly and she keeps turning him down. Mainly because she thinks he’s too good for her and she still can’t get over her own issues with her high school reputation. They quickly go from their customer/mechanic relationship to a sexually intimate couple. Mac gives Frankie the freedom to get over her insecurities and embrace her sexuality. They have a couple of very hot sexy scenes, and one phone sex scene that was smoking. Of course, Mac’s overbearing mother interferes with their relationship, a misunderstanding ensues and Frankie runs off. Mac has to figure out a way to get her to realize that they are perfect for each other and to give them a chance for more.

I liked this story. For such a short read it held my interest and kept me engaged. I had issues with the I love you, I want to marry you and for you to have my babies coming so fast, but then I’m really not a fan of insta-love at all, even in novellas. I just don’t care for them. Even though I understand they had an established relationship when I started reading, the happy ending seemed sudden. They jumped from flirting acquaintances to talking about love after one date and one night of sex. I did enjoy their chemistry and thought the sexy scenes were very well done. All in all, an enjoyable short, sexy read.

“Do you want to know why I’m really here? It’s because I couldn’t wait another second to see you. I can’t get you out of my head. I dreamt about you…us. And every time I tried to get something done in my office this morning, I’d lose my train of thought. All I could think about was you, last night, calling my name as you came. I’m not here about dinner. I’m here because I want you so bad I can hardly see straight.”

Okay so right off the bat I wondered if this was a spin off or in a series, as it just felt like we were missing something regarding the main characters. No, it's not. It's just rushed and we got the info we needed later.

It was very insta love for me... but in general this wasn't bad. But for someone who supposedly didn't know how to "girl" at all, she was exceedingly girly for the majority of it.

The plot regarding the mother wasn't surprising.

But I did like it, so 4 stars.

A nice short story. I really liked the two main characters - there was some hilarious dialog between them and even though it was a very short story where everything was sped up x100, I could still see that the Frankie and Mac were a really good couple. I sometimes don't get that feeling with 400 pages books.

Great writing! Wish it was a bit longer. One thing that kind of annoyed me was that there was a small mention of Frankie's issues with her mother's lack of presence, which Mac made a note to talk over with Frankie, but that was completely ignored for the rest of the book. Thought that was weird and kind of unnecessary. Why include a plot point, mention it twice, only to completely brush it off??

Other than that I didn't have any criticisms. It was a nice, short story. Probably one of the best I've read for its length!

I liked this one well enough, but I found Frankie's character a bit uneven. She was so girlie girl at some moments, but then totally shut down in others. I enjoyed her interactions with Mac, and the quality of the writing was excellent, but I just found her way too wide-eyed innocent in some moments. She read more like the virginal heroine of a historical romance who was unschooled in the ways of love.

That said, the sex scenes here were good (they tended towards the overt with descriptions, which I'm not a huge fan of, especially the "creamy" descriptions).

It's still a fun, quick-paced beach read. I liked the attention Cole paid to cars, without using it too extensively.

One weird complaint? The cover. It really looks like two guys. (I'm all for m/m reads, I just found it surprising this was't one.)

This was a fun one. I loved how Mac has been secretly lusting over Frankie for years, to the point that his hobby, which brings into contact with Frankie, is starting to get out of control. Frankie's admission to Mac at dinner of how she got her rep had me laughing, it would have been horrifying for her, but entertaining as hell for the rest of us. I was surprised by Frankie's proposition to Mac and loved it when he turned it around on her. It looked like they both were about to get what they wanted until Mac's mother turned up. What a piece of work she was. Although she did win me over in the end with her actions.

Hot!!!!

Hot!!!!

I enjoyed the relationship between Frankie and Mac. Frankie afraid to let go and Mac loving her secretly all along. The sex scenes were very explicit could have done without the graphic detail.
