I read it for my daughter’s bedtime but halfway through I read it to myself to the end. I loved the story. Tom was a clever boy. He knew how to get out of work by tricking others to do it for him. The gum sharing was funny as well as the me-yow calling. Tom was a naughty boy and often received whippings. He’s innovative and often came up with something to do. That part with the dead cat was really out of this world. I’m surprised that Huckleberry Finn was in this story. I haven’t read his story yet. But it’s cool that two well known classic characters were in this story. I admire Tom and his cleverness, even at the end where he got Huckleberry Finn to do something he didn’t want to do. This book has illustrations so it was helpful in seeing where the story was going.
One day I’ll read the normal version, but this time I happened to read a young readers version. It was excellent.
I liked the book, though it was very slow, in my opinion.
The book is about a kid named Tom Sawyer who witnesses a crime. It’s a mystery, so Tom and his friends set out to find the culprit. They go on a thrilling adventure to track him down.
I like this book because of the writing and the understanding of its purpose. I also enjoy the outdoors. And having a fun time reading it.
I never understood the point of condensed classics until I had a son who just doesn’t enjoy sitting for long periods of time. This series is the reason he loves the Secret Garden and we had an equally wonderful and bonding experience with Tom Sawyer.
Though this is the adapted version, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. We did it in class for our read-a-thon and it is jam packed with adventures and brings to life what kids did for fun before technology. I also think it's important to expose children to the classics and traditional literature. My 4th graders couldn't get enough of it.
I'm not a big fan of condensed classics, but this was a good way to share the Twain classic with my son and keep his attention. We read the original "Prince and the Pauper" together, and while he liked the general storyline, the vocabulary and detail were a bit too intense for him at times.
It is a good book and it has a lot action. I think that every one knows who he is and every one wants to be his friend. Tom is always jealous that Huck fin does not have to go to school. One adherence that they tuck was of to an island in the Mississippi river. They had so much fun in till they all got home sick and had to go back.In the end they found a treasure chest and became rich.
Well dang, I thought that was some boring book required to read in high school .... It was definitely not boring! I love these Dalmatian Press condensed versions of the classics. So cool. Stumbled across this in a little library!
My kids love Tom Sawyer! The story is timeless! My boys thought it was funny that boys from then and now seem to think alike! This was a great, simple, illustrated version that I could read to my older and younger child at the same time.
Tom Sawyer is a mischievous twelve year old boy who is constantly getting into trouble and getting out of school and chores to play pirates, robbers, and other adventures with his friends. Tom and his friend Huckleberry Finn, (who goes by Huck) make a plan to sneak out in the middle of the night and go to the graveyard. When Tom heard the signal, (Which was "me-yow") he put quietly headed outside. When Tom and Huck got to the graveyard they heard somebody talking so they quickly hid underneath a bush to listen. After a while of listening they decided that it was Injun Jones, Muff Potter, and Dr. Robinson. After Injun treated the Dr. with Muff's knife he soon after killed him for getting the answer he wanted but Muff couldn't do anything for he had been knocked out. The people had arrested Muff for the murder for it has been his knife and the boys were to freighted to say a word. After a while later when things go back to normal, Huck and Tom go on an adventure and become pirates when they find an old house and began to explore when they heard talking outside and ran upstairs. They were looking through the floor boards and saw that it was Injun and a Spaniard. They watched a bit longer and they realized that they were looking for treasure just like the pirate boys were but the difference is that Injun had found some in the house. Very excited but nervous they longed for the treasure. Late one night Huck was walking along and he saw Injun walking down the street and he nervously followed him and he soon after found out what he was doing, it was his "revenge job". He ran and knocked on her door to warn her that Injun was coming and he soon told the whole story of what happens. The man told the towns people but did not mention the name of him, (Huck). Soon after Tom got back with his friend Becky and he and she went down into the caves to have a picnic but they soon became lost and Tom went on to find a way out by tying his kite string to a rock and headed off. As he was walking he saw a candle light soon found out that it was Injun Jones and ran back to Becky. After at least two days the towns people finally found them and they said that they had blocked off the entrance to the cave so that no one else could get lost but then Tom and Becky told him about how they saw Injun in there. Tom got Huck and said that he knows were Injun hid the treasure so they went and found it and when they brought it home and showed the town who now thinks of them as heroes. I think that the theme of this story is friendship. 1. Tom and all of his friends go on many crazy adventures together as friends. 2. They show such loyalty to one an other and would never turn each other in. 3.When all of Tom and his friends are together they always have such imagination together in all things such as pretending to be pirates and robbers. I did not like how everyone talked. In the book everyone has such bad grammar and I can barely, barely make out what people are saying in the book. And because of this bad grammar bugging me so much I could barley read the book and when I did I can promise you that it took me quite awhile trying to figure out what things they are saying. Although the grammar bugged me, I still loved the book because of all of the crazy, crazy things Tom would do such as run away from home and not only does he do that once, but throughout the book he runs away multiple times and even sometimes on a boat which is really surprising to me and that really made the book very enjoyable.
In this of 'Tom Sawyer' is a very quick read and gets right to the action. Tom Sawyer is a young boy who likes to have fun and go on adventures with his friends Huckleberry Finn and Joe Harper. Tom is always trying to get out of trouble from his aunt and from school and is very sly and mischievous about this. In the book Tom and Huck end up seeing the murder of Doctor Robinson by Injun Joe who framed Muff Potter. They end up trying to find the gold that Injun Joe found even though he would kill them if they ran into him because Tom testified in court that he saw Joe kill the Doctor. This book relates well to the human experience because the trouble that the boys get into is very realistic even if it is a little unrealistic. Young boys like to have fun and not do what they are told. Just like Tom and Huck. I think this is a very good book with some good adventure in it. The book went by too fast for me and I think that it could be longer and have some more detail, but it is the shortened version.

this book is about a young boy who's buring a cat, then witness a midnight murder. After the murder they draw blood in a promise to not tell anyone about the murder, because they thougt that Injun Joe will get them.So they went on trial. So when Tom told what Injun joe did Injun joe jumped out the window.Tom was so scared that Injun joe would get him.The settiings are court, tom's home, tom's school, and the cave. The main chracters are Tom Sawyer, and Becky Thasher. He solved his promblem by telling even though he didn't want to but he had to because he was on trial and he had to.He didn't get hurt by Ingun joe but was almost. This was a chracter to chracter, and chracter to socity.I think he would take advantage of me as a friend because he made someone else do his job. This was a nice book though.
reading this book make me feel like back to my childhood, it's fun, especially when it comes to an adventure's part. The beginning part of this book little bit boring, but the last part save it! and see...even that ignorant Huck can become a rich good person =D
This book is just amazing. Hilarious, easy to understand, and a quick read. Greatly recommended for people who love mystery, originals, and crazy stories.
