“The Hunger Games trilogy and smash hit movie brought Collins a level of fame most authors don’t achieve in a lifetime.” The unbelievable informative biography “Suzanne Collins” by the fascinating author, Kerrily Sapet, reveals the life of the award winning writer Suzanne Collins and her books. Firstly, Suzanne Collins was born on August 10, 1962, in Connecticut by Michael and Jane Collins. While Collins was growing up she had to move a lot of places due to the fact that her father works in the military and was fighting in Vietnam. As a child, Suzanne wanted to be an actor and had her mother’s passion for reading books about fantasy and mythology. Suzanne was an actor involved in many theater creations and tried writing for a script and she had realized that that was her passion. After, Suzanne went back to school at NYU to study dramatic writing. Suzanne wrote scripts for television shows on Nickelodeon for kids. Over the next few years Suzanne worked on scripts that soon became popular, because of her writing. Subsequently, Suzanne got married to Charles Allen Pryor and had two children, forcing her to move to a house. While working on scripts Suzanne had become good friends with James Proimos (the creator of Generation O). Suzanne had been told by Proimos that she should try to write stories. Suzanne had listened to her friend and switched to writing books. In 2003, Suzanne had published a book that was released by Scholastic called Gregor the Overlander. Surprisingly, Gregor the Overlander had become a best seller which was a rare achievement by new novelists. Suzanne then wanted to create a book that would have the ideas of wars, myths, and roman gladiators which came to the idea of The Hunger Games. Subsequently, Suzanne worked a deal with the publishing group Scholastic and the book was published. In two months it had made the best seller list, got named best book of 2008, and won many spectacular awards, which brought fame to Suzanne. However, Suzanne was not done. She created a trilogy of The Hunger Games and made a deal with “Lionsgate” to make a movie about it. The movie won many awards including Best Picture and seemed to make her fans devour every book and movie she had created. As one can see, Collins was successful in her life and pursued her goal of being a writer.

Later on I had questions regarding the biography about Suzanne Collins. What do you like about this person? I like how she got famous from writing Hunger Games but acted like she was a normal person and she would never brag about it and never acted like a celebrity. Tell why this person became famous. Collins became famous because of her astonishing books that would always fascinate people and how she would create different ideas from her prior experiences. If you could meet this person, what questions would you ask them? What were your emotions when writing the Hunger Games? How did you feel about writing books for children and adults? Will you make another series relevant to the Hunger Games? As one can see, these questions helped me understand in-depth Suzanne Collins life.

I would recommend this book to anyone for numerous reasons. First, the book illustrates all of the facts and history of Suzanne Collins in a way that everyone would understand. Second, the book has no advanced wordings so that kids could read this book. Third, when Kerrily Sapet mentions some history about Suzanne Collins that is hard to understand, she put a photo to make it easier to understand. As one can see, “Suzanne Collins” by Kerrily Sapet is recommended to anyone that is interested in Collins life.

If you want to know the author behind "The Hunger Games" then this is an excellent choice. It takes you from her formative years, thru college, geographic moves, and ultimately her natural progression into writing novels. Finally gaining ultimate traction in Ch.4 explaining how the Greek myth of Theseus & the Minotaur blossomed into the story we love so well; Ch.5 introduces us to Jennifer Lawrence. A quick read, and time well spent if you are a HG fan.

Cursory biography of teen-lit powerhouse. Most of the information is cobbled together from various interviews (all source notes provided in the back). Lots of pictures fill out the just-over-a-hundred-pages, making this a good choice for the biography book reports.
