Jeanette Murray starts off her Semper Fi series with an entertaining romance! THE OFFICER SAYS I DO is a funny, charming and sexy novel!
Captain Timothy O'Shay has hours left to enjoy the Las Vegas nightlife before he is deployed again to Afghanistan. Though it's not normal for him, he throws caution to the wind and indulges himself...maybe a little too much. The next morning, he's still a little fuzzy on the details and that scares him. Yet Tim leaves the city, and the gorgeous girl he spent the night with, behind to go back to his military life.
When Tim's deployment plans suddenly change, he heads home to discover a woman waiting for him. It's the woman that has been haunting him for days since he left her alone in the bed they shared in Vegas, Skye McDermott. Yet, she's no longer McDermott...she's Skye O'Shay, his wife. When she does the unthinkable and asks if he wants to take a chance to see if this marriage can work, Tim surprisingly finds himself saying for the second time that week - ‘I Do.'
THE OFFICER SAYS I DO is a straightforward, yet ultimately sweet contemporary romance. With a military hero, I was wondering if this novel would have a suspenseful edge, but was pleasantly surprised to find a lighthearted story about two complete opposites falling in love. And really, these two characters could not be more different. Skye was a carefree spirit that let Fate be her guide. She was messy, she was colorful and she was everything Tim was not. He had a life that was guided by a military discipline and kept his emotions in control. He was rarely impulsive and always had a plan. Despite how different they both were, I adored them both. They shared a passionate attraction, and also the ability to not accept failure, which is what encouraged them to take a chance on their relationship. Reading about making the most of their situation was adorable and delightful.
Really, their differences may make you question whether or not these two could fall in love. The beginning of the novel leaves you in a state of disbelief, which isn't totally unreasonable considering the circumstances. Yet what makes THE OFFICER SAYS I DO worth the journey is watching these two characters change in order to make their marriage work. As with any marriage, sacrifices are always made, so you get to experience these two adapting to the situation because they want it to work even though they aren't sure yet that it can. It's a completely unusual situation, yes, but I admired how they weren't going to call it a mistake and leave it at that. At first it seems ridiculous, but as the novel goes on it makes more sense, because you realize they are building in a positive way what attracted them to one another in the first place.
Also, be prepared to become involved in Madison and Jeremy's secondary romance. Unfortunately, Ms Murray just gives you a little taste to whet your appetite until their book is released! So this novel certainly leaves you with something to look forward to. Not only that, but Ms Murray creates a really fun group of secondary characters. They make you laugh and truly appreciate the close relationship they have. Murray even gives you a great insight into the ins and outs of military life. It is something unique and of course fits into the plot with how it complicates Skye's and Tim's new marriage.
Charming and surprisingly loveable, Tim and Skye's story is easy proof that opposites attract in the absolute best ways! Fans looking for a light hearted, new contemporary series, with military heroes to make you swoon, should check out Jeanette Murray's Semper Fi series. THE OFFICER SAYS I DO is a ridiculously fun novel with fabulous characters that will you leave you smiling and writing that will leave you wanting more. It's all a girl could want and then some!
