I have to say, this book is very different from anything I have read before. There is a bit of mythology, a bit of modern religious beliefs, and a very compelling voice from the demon princess herself.

In the first couple pages, I honestly wasn't certain I would enjoy this book. There is quite a bit of back story given about Ilana's 'real' life on the other side of the veil, what her job is, and the people surrounding her and her family, that I thought I would get lost. However, the voice of the character was so compelling and entertaining that I had to read on. And I'm glad I did.

I really, really like Ilana. She is tough, capable, and does her best to do what she sees as right, even if she is half demon and certain values (such as faithfulness to one's spouse) aren't quite in keeping with a traditional romance story. I was drawn in by the problems she faced, the fact that she was helping fallen angels, trying to protect her family (and really everyone with the job she has), and the strength she had within herself to do what needed done. I also enjoyed the details about mythology and other fantasy elements incorporated into Barber's world.

There were parts in which I got confused as to which character was speaking, which did detract slightly from my overall enjoyment. That said, it was never enough to stop me from reading. The idea for this story is unique. I felt as though the main characters weren't just a rehash of everything I'd already read before, and I think it's a great start to the series.

Four stars from me and a wonderful job on this author's debut book. I look forward to reading more by Jordana Barber and more in this world she has created.

I really enjoyed the escape this book offered.

I love all mythology so I may be a bit biased but as soon as I read that Azriella was in fact a princess who took on the job of one of the fates I'll admit, I was hooked and wanted to know more immediately. I mean, cool. A princess who could really just sit on her but who takes on one of the hardest and most demanding jobs in the known universe! My imagination promptly woke up and started going wild. I won't go into details cause I don't want to spoil it but I will tell you that I loved the story and all of it's dynamics from start to finish and could not stop turning the page for more. I loved that this story wasn't the same old thing redone a little differently and is in fact something unique. I will certainly be reading more of this author.

This was an enjoyable read. Wasn't what I was expecting, but in a good way. The plot was always surprising me and kept me guessing, which is a nice change as other books I've been reading recently have been predictable. I love how its a totally unique storyline ( I won't spoil it for you) aswell as strong minded characters which really strengthened the dynamics of the book. The only thing I wasn't so keen on was all the affairs Llana had throughout. One extra lover would have done it for me instead of many, but then the affairs were part and parcel of the book and plot (just would be nice in the next book for her to stick to the one guy....well the three husbands :p). I look forward to reading the next in the series, this book has left me on a cliffhanger :)

From the moment I saw the cover and description of The Timekeeper, I knew it was a book I wanted to read. I love unconventional stories-stories that you don't read every day and aren't the rehashing of the same old trends-and this one was no disappointment. It was filled with love and action with some politics sprinkled in. The main character, Ilana was fierce, witty, and strong, and didn't rely on others to come dashing to her rescue. This, alone, was a breath of fresh air. I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

I love the cover. But it is not only the artwork that gained The Timekeeper its five stars. I found the plot to be highly imaginative, creative and stimulating with a rather unique flavour. The dash of romance combined with the supernatural and strong characters make this book a gripping read.

I enjoyed this story a lot. The author's style creates a great pace with smooth delivery and the mythology of it all was fun. I will be looking for more from this author. This is a great read and a fun world.

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this book. I found the main character (whose name changed so many times I lost track and I don't know what she's called!) to be unlikeable, self-centred and sex-obsessed. Everything was about how attractive she was or how attracted she was to others. She showed no respect to any other character and was perfectly happy to walk all over everyone. The side characters were also shallow and frustrating and didn't show much to like either and they all had far too many names!!

Plot wise, I lost track of what was going on. I expected one storyline from the blurb which didn't really materialise and the whole thing seemed to jump from one thing to another.

The story started to get enjoyable in the last chapter but ended on a massive cliff hanger, just as things seemed to get interesting.

c2012. A kindle freebie. There is certainly a good story in this book - in fact, more than one. The problem is that it seems that every thought or possible plot is thrown at the reader with little coherency. Dreadful, dreadful editing and the use of the wrong words in the wrong context just makes it a really tiresome read. But the imagination is there - if not the use of English language. The book needs to be polished and honed a lot more before being released on the, well, I was going to say unsuspecting - but I think we all know by now the quality of self published works often leaves a lot to be desired. Oh, and there is a really irritating habit of shortening 'must have', 'could have', 'should have' to could've, should've etc etc. It may be, in part, trying to emulate how people would actually speak but...don't?

The Timekeeper is a very short story that you can read in fifteen minutes, just to pass time. I didn't quite liked the writer's style, the dialogue was short and uninteresting, characters shallow and confusing.

The worst part for me was the story develop. Everything happens quickly and there's nothing explained. That resulted in confusing and too fast pacing plot.

I do think this story had a chance, if only the writer took more time for developing the plot, characters and their personality and the idea. The summary revealed almost the whole book, although it made me think the book was great.

Overall rating is 1.5, just because of the good idea and the writer's work.

.....I couldn't read this....

It was impossible to read. The sentence structures were horrible. Barber, I'm thinking doesn't speak English as a first language...and if she does, she doesn't know how to use it properly.

The dialogue was very forced, and extremely overkill when it came to witty banter. It didn't flow well, and often times didn't make sense at all.
