This Grady Hendrix Bestselling 3 Books Collection 1. The Final Girl Support Group 9780593201244 2. The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires 9781683692515
He's also the jerk behind the Stoker award-winning Paperbacks from Hell, a history of the 70's and 80's horror paperback boom, which contains more information about Nazi leprechauns, killer babies, and evil cats than you probably need.
And he's the screenwriter behind Mohawk, which is probably the only horror movie about the War of 1812 and Satanic Panic.
Grady Hendrix just writes great female centred horror, this was a true tribute to the final girls of 80's horror whilst also being centred around the power of friendship.
I would only recommend this book to people that like halloween and that kind of vibe, not just an average book reader or friend. can be a little cheesy at times with how many times “final girl” is used. i never knew the next turn that was going to happen in the plot. there are a bunch of characters that you slowly learn more about, their trauma, and how they all respond to it differently which is very unique. main character shows extreme growth towards the end of the book which is always nice to see. there are little excerpts of police interviews, journals, and more that clue you in on the different characters traumas and outlooks. these final girls get put through the ringer AGAIN.
The Final Girls Support Group by Grady Hendrix is outstanding. The plot twists kept coming, and I was nail-biting and nearly falling out of my seat the entire time! It’s a quick-paced story that’s perfect for getting out of a reading slump. I’ve read ‘Witchcraft for Wayward Girls’ and ‘The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires”. It's safe to say I will be picking up another story written by Grady Hendrix. His stories never disappoint!
I had some criticism about the way subject matter was handled in this at the time, but I have to say. This was the final piece of the puzzle that brought me into understanding horror as an art form and I owe it everything for that.
I thought this was going to be cheesier or more cliche than it turned out to be. The twists and whodunnit is great. I also like how all the final girls have personalities and are different responses to trauma.
This book kept me on my toes and the plot always took another turn which I really enjoyed. I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy the thriller/horror genre as Ive only read romance but this book was worth the read and sparked my interest in the genre! This book gives off ‘scream movie’ vibes which I love. If you want to read about what happens to the girls who survive a serial killers, this is your book!
This book was given to me as a gift. And it was a wonderful gift. I didn’t know how much I was going to enjoy it. This books like its title is about the final girls from like slasher flicks in sense. Girls that survived a mass murder. It follows one specific girl Lynnette on her journey to survive one last time! After reading this I was a tad spooked a little haha. Also I’m so happy for fern her plant. Anyways it has a bit of everything. Mystery, suspense, thriller. It’s crazy the things that Lynnette has done/ does just to survive after being attacked. Kinda gives you anxiety but it’s understandable for what she had to endure.
