I remember stumbling upon this book my senior year of high school and becoming enthralled by the story of a president from my state that I knew relatively nothing about, especially considering the enormous political gravity of his tenure.
For all Tennesseans, it's a great read and filled with places and people that are easily identifiable. For Civil War-era buffs, it's also a great window into the life of one of the War Between the States' most unsung and often-berated heroes.
