Explicit adult content! A magical oracle forces the austere Mr. Taggert to fall in love with his capricious student Duncan.
Duncan’s numerous absences caused him to be held back three times. At age 19 his last chance to graduate is in Mr. Taggert’s class. He’s happy to be there since he’s had a crush on the sophisticated disciplinarian for a while. Taggert is shocked when the boy flirts with him. No one’s ever looked at the stern man that way before. At first he thinks Duncan is teasing him, but the boy soon makes his feelings clear.
Taggert isn’t about to have his career destroyed by a lovesick schoolboy—even one as lovely as Duncan. When Duncan prays to the oracle to intervene the flustered teacher is put in an even more compromising situation!

I'd like to say I was mislead but it was my fault for not reading the summary more carefully. The only thing I remembered when I picked this up was the cover which led me to think it would focus on spankings.
And then the book ended. Not sure why the author split the book in two. 2.5 stars worthy.
I am so into this woman's writing. I get everything she puts out and I'm never disappointed. I'm kind of turning into a stalker fan type. I see how each story evolved from the last one. Before this was Treasure Prince which was about a demon and a boy who fell in love but the boy couldn't be with the demon because of the obligations his father put on him. This is taking that same theme but pushing it and making it all sexy and taboo in a school setting.
Basically we have Duncan who was held back for 3 years. He had a crush on his teacher Mr. Taggert before he was his student. Now that he is his student he figures he's old enough for marriage and Taggert is still single so why not go after him. This is another one of those neat realities this author likes to do. Everyone in this world gets a 'soul mate' from an oracle who they fall in love with and marry. Most of the matches seem to be man/woman, but apparently there are man/man matches too. Duncan's brother got mated to a man. It's accepted in that society. Plus it's a cool kind of Victorian England world. Mr. Taggert 41 and never got a mate. He's thought to be weird by the other teachers because he's 40 and never got a soul mate. It's really sweet and sad that Taggert feels like there's something wrong with him. He's bitter and lonely. He actually is flattered when Duncan hits on him but he's scared to lose his job.
Obviously the oracle is going to put Taggert with his student Duncan. Now the story gets really good. Taggert knows it will be a huge scandal if he is soul-mates with a student. Duncan just wants to do him. Now Taggert has to fight Duncan and his emotions to try and keep the job that he loves. This causes major squee moments for me! You can see how desperate Duncan is, you can see how Taggert melts whenever he touches him, but he's so conflicted. He really is this serious teacher who's supposed to be above all that stuff. This is just a great concept!
I'm on board here. I want to see what's going to happen next. I think the dynamic between Duncan and Taggert is really sexy. You just want to watch and see where this is going to lead. I'm so excited now! I want the next part NOW! Crossposted from Amazon
Surprisingly cute and not as lurid as the cover suggests. It is short though, even for one of those annoying serials. The story ends at 78% of the listed 39 pages; the rest being a preview of something else. But if I came across more, I'd read it. I wouldn't call it yaoi though.
I was just looking for a very simple and quick read instead of sleeping, and this was it. Despite the sexual warning content at the beginning, there really wasn't much in it. I found the universe quite interesting though, and wonder what more could be done with it. I would probably read the second one just to see what happens next between the two main characters, if it was free like this eStory story was, but until then I'll just live in suspense.
THIS REVIEW IS FOR BOTH PARTS OF THE STORY. I actually read this in two days (last sunday and today) but whatever. It was a nice, entertaining read. It had a few errors here and there, but overall, the plot was interesting, the development of the relationship was realistic, even with the unlikeliness of the situation depicted. I liked it. It wasn't flawless, but it was good. Three solid stars.
This was the very first Yaoi I have ever read... and the writing style was phenomenal. Drew me right in and didn't let me go. A month later, I still remember this story and how I felt reading it. That equals good writing.
Enjoyed the percous adult student and his zelous persuit of his lonely middle aged teacher. Had trouble finding part two but the author emailed me a link thank you!
I'm not angry. I'm just disappointed. Mostly in myself, but that's neither here nor there. It's madness, but despite consistently poor writing, grammar, and deceptive advertising, I keep finding myself giving this author another chance, mostly due to the fact that, despite many, many, many flaws, the story concepts (and occasionally the artwork) are fascinating.
Yet every story seems rushed. The characters are never fleshed out nor are they properly developed, and the plots quickly grow lackluster. And then, as if to add insult to injury, the stories are often serialized (without any warning) and the last half of the book is just advertisement after advertisement.
Honestly, from what is depicted in the bio, the author is so desperate to survive off writing, that quality is sacrificed for quantity. I never found the second half of this... Novella? But from what I read in a review, perhaps that is best. It seemed quite disappointing, so best not to have wasted my time. As neither should you. Move on from this 'book' and this author. Never. Return.
I wish I had the option of rating this as a single unit. I’m leaving my star review for the conclusion (part 2). This first part was fairly short, but enough that I was itching to find out what happened...review concludes with the next book.
**Yes, this book concludes at about 40-50%. But, it is free on Amazon (where I purchased it). I also checked and it is free on iBooks, Smashwords, and Nook. So if you are lucky enough to get the second part free through the newsletter (this did not work for me as it never showed up), then it is a free story. If you do not get the second part through the newsletter and want to finish it, you pay 99¢ for the story. Even if you have to pay for part 2 like I did, that isn't a hardship, I've paid 99¢ plenty for a short story.
One half ads, the other half truncated and unsatisfying
This book, while the story has promise, is disappointing. It stops dead in the middle of the build and the entire second half is ads for other books. What passes for the entire contents of the story here could be a free sample out of a larger book. It drives me nuts when authors or publishers split what is truly one book into several different volumes and don't say that's what it is. I have no problem with serials, I just like to know that's what I'm getting into rather than having my read abruptly and unexpectedly aborted.
The actual story in this book is not 80 pages, as indicated on the store page. It ends at the 39% point (~31 pages), and the other 61% is spammy advertisements for other books.
Granted this is Part 1 of the story, but this book doesn’t really stand on its own. It just randomly ends and asks you to sign up for a newsletter to get the complete story. As such, the entirety of this book seems more like an advertisement than anything else.
What was included in this copy seemed to be very well written (but also didn’t really have any correlation to Yaoi).
This story was so short that even if it was twice as long, it too would be so very short. Leaves you disappointed with so many unanswered questions, what happen the remainder of the school year with the young man and his teacher (lover). Not much about the Oracle but played a major rule. I believe this book needs to be rewritten, there is so good writing in it but again too short. The next book seems to be another story, is it just as short. Yamila Abraham needs to sit down and finish the story without so many questions at the end.
Although I enjoyed the general plot of this story it's been split into 2 without the ability to get part 2 (at least through the links in the book and Amazon) - thus only 2 stars.
Whilst the end of this was a decent stopping point in the sense of plot, there wasn't really anything to this story. It ended the same way it began - *minor spoiler* a student lusting after his teacher.
The kindle book ends at 40%, with a whole lot of pages just advertising other stories - mainly through their covers and links.
Okay, I got Prof. Snape vibes from the main character. Not gonna lie. However, don't look for a lot of magic in this case. In fact, the story felt rushed. There just wasn't too much character development going on. Since the adult action was also at a minimum, I believed more time would have been spent world building or making the readers feel a connection with the 2 leads.
The story stops at 40% and the rest of the file is ads for other stories. While it has YAOI in the title, and a drawn cover, it is not manga. The story itself was interesting, though very short and incomplete.
This was a good, interesting start, but woefully incomplete. You're offered Part 2 if you subscribe to the author's newsletter. I did that, but still no Part 2 & no Part 2 up to buy. How many parts until this story is complete & when will the rest be available?
This story is only half the story, to get the rest you must sign up for the author's newsletter.
Yaoi is Japanese based love stories between two males. Usually one is smaller and/or younger than the other.
This story, it is unclear what era they are in. If you ignore that and concentrate on the characters it makes the story better.
An Oracle makes the unions but there are more men than women so lately men have paired with men.
Callum Taggert is a teacher but he has no space for anything in his life but his work. Now in his forties, he has still yet to be paired with anyone. He sees himself as different because he has never had a blessing from the Oracle.
His life is disturbed by Duncan. Duncan has had a hard life and is now trying to finish school. A bright man but he was held back 3 times due to his job at the foundry. Duncan however has a chance to get on with his family covering his shifts. Duncan however has one problem, he is in love with his teacher Callum Taggert.
Duncan tries to explain his feelings but Callum is against it, as he is a student. Things are made worse when they go to the Oracle to bless the school year and the students. Duncan moves forward to the fountain and wishes to be pair with Callum. When you are paired the Oracle marks your wrist. Duncan is overjoyed but Callum is not happy with the way things have turned out.
Trying to keep it a secret things go from bad to worse.
The book ends at the middle. As I said the author has the second part that will be emailed to you when you sign up for the newsletter. That is the only reason this book got 4* and not 5*. The characters are well written but I do not like stories that just stop.
I really enjoyed this. Other than some fan-fic I've read, it's the first Yaoi for me and I'll be reading more, because of this.
Yes, there were a few small issues with missing words or spelling, but I loved the story that much that it really deserves a 5. Funny, intriguing, kept me reading and had me laughing out loud and squirming at the risks Duncan took. I just love his character. I can't wait for more of these characters and to delve into this genre.
It was a nice reading, but i didn't like it finished in the middle of something. I don't appreciate having to look for the rest of it somewhere else, so i won't. But the part i did read was very nice. I started hating Duncan for being too persistant and really annoying, but after a while i acepted as part of his personality and it was easier to care for him. It was a fun story to read, i enjoyed it.
The summary sounded good so I decided to give it a go but honestly it suffers from what most short stories do, that is feels rushed. You don't have the time to get to know the characters or get fully immersed in the world before its over. Yes, there is a second part but the whole thing could have been written as one book and left it at that. I say all this to say I didn't hate this book I just wanted something more from it.
This will be a brief and short review. After reading the first few paragraphs, I was immediately hooked into the story. I'm not quite sure why these use adOrable and how this tradition came about but it puts a nice spin on getting the two main characters together. I really like the story.
It's very interesting~ I think I'm gonna get the second one~ Just to see what happens next~ And for some reason I thought this was kinda like a Harry Potter style but like they say: “Never judge a book by its cover~"
I'm no longer rating stories in genres I write because conflict of interest. This is part 1 of a story that leads into part 2 which is also a free story for mailing list sign-ups. So I'm studying how the marketing side of it is done.
