Meet Layla, Reese, Chanel and Skye: four long time friends with everything going for them…except their relationships with men. The ladies are vastly different in temperament, looks, career choices and pastimes, but are entirely too much alike when it comes to matters of the heart.

Layla has been in a semi-committed relationship with Conrad for five years, impatiently waiting for him to marry her. Semi-committed because only she brings that element into their relationship, while he continued on living life as a single man while in the midst of their relationship. After numerous failed attempts to get him to marry her, she has a choice to make of either accepting the status quo or seeing him as the selfish, string-along guy her friends have been telling her for years that he is.

Reese has it all worked out. She knows exactly what she wants and won’t stop until she gets it. The problem is love eludes her and she can’t pay to make her dream come true. Although she has everything, her inability to attract the right man to marry her and who will understand her unique circumstances has started to affect her self esteem. Will desperation make her take matters into her own hands and if she does, will it grant her the results her heart yearns for?

Chanel is beautiful, feisty and hardworking. She’s also plus-sized and can’t see past the size of her assets to know that her size is no indication of the type of man she deserves. After a string of hook-ups and situationships, she takes a breath and a step back to reassess her life, only to run into Craig….a man who sends her world into a tailspin. Is he all that she’s dreamt of or is he only masquerading as the real thing?

Skye is beautiful, bold, rich, and powerful. She lives life on her own terms. Men can’t seem to get enough of her. But she’s a diehard commitment phobe. Once was more than enough for her to let her heart lead and where it led her changed the course of her life forever. Now, she’s sworn off ever needing anyone or letting anyone get close enough to hurt her again. But even superwoman has frailties….

The characters in this book are fun, loyal to their friendship, in their thirties and on the ball! Like so many women, their dreams of the white picket fence, 2.5 kids and the successful black husband has elude them. These are the upscale girls living next door, the girlfriends from college, the relatives we can identify with. St. John has done a fantastic job penning their stories. I found myself laughing at their antics, crying at their struggles, rejoicing at their triumphs...seeing pieces of myself in each of them. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read and I look forward to reading the next installment.

Dirty Laundry

This was a interesting story about four friends and their quest for happiness. They have been friends forever and have seen each other through good and bad. They're extremely supportive of each other in whatever they aspire especially with affairs of the heart. It was an extremely heart warming story of the ups and downs of life.

I really enjoyed this book. At first I thought it was going to be a woe as me plight of the black woman dating kind of book, but it really turned out to be something different and good. All of these women had the same bottom line issue, but all of their situations were totally different, and really relate-able. This book had a lot of drama, bad relationships, good relationships, hurt, and a wold of pain. But these woman came through it all. I would have like to see Travis and Layla's storyline wrapped up a bit better, we are left hanging there. Also what was Skye's outcome, and what happens to Chantal? It looks like there is the making of a sequel here which I would gladly read.

Sister/Friends

Kayla, Chanel, Reese, and Skye are four sister/friends with four different levels of education, self-esteem, family problems, man problems, jobs, and beliefs. A well written story, I enjoyed watching these ladies grasp hold of their issues both individually and collectively.

Dirty Laundry was a ok read.To me it wasn't enough drama and to much was left out in the End.What happened with Skye? Where did Travis Go? It was a lot of things I needed to know Didn't read about it being a part 2 so I'm left hanging. Still a good read just wish it would of been better.

Spilling the Tea!

What a great book. Telling stories about four different women who faces similar situations and all looking for the same thing which is love. This book also teaches you about not settling for anything or anyone.
