Beth Longly mixed among the beauties of the ton as though she belonged. In truth, adorned in the latest society fashions, she swept dashing, well-to-do Jamie Morgan completely off his feet. Little did he know that Beth was not "the lady" of Claremont House at all -- only its servant girl in disguise hoping to maneuver her way into a wealthy man's arms. Then Morgan proposed, leaving Beth to wonder how long her masquerade could last....
Morgan was pleased with his latest conquest. The handsome -- and utterly destitute -- pickpocket was quite convincing disguised as a society fop. So much so that the eligible "Lady Claremont" was immediately taken with him, even if she did seem strangely reticent about introducing him to her family. But the better he got to know the lovely aristocrat, the more he desired her. Yet once he was unmasked as the fortune-hunting rogue he was, he knew he risked losing his precious lady love forever....

I really enjoy books by this author but did not think this was one of her best. I read both the paperback and ebook and can see that there were changes for the better made to the ebook version. I did really enjoy it, however. The hero is a rogue who falls in love and becomes a better person because of his emotions for the heroine. Also, it is interesting to read about the poorer class in this time period. I get tired of reading about the "ton" and all the spoiled rich bitches and their do-nothing suitors who are selfish, greedy, and boring.
