Until now…

I think this book had the potential of at least 100 more pages, I'm really not sure why the author didn't try for more! The beginning was very cute and the first love scene was hot but once they got together, there was a lot of fade to black, as if the author wanted to speed up their relationship.
Libby's concerns made sense but we never knew if she had ever had tests to determine whether she inherited her parents' issues - was she just assuming she was going to die young based on her parent's history? Also, I didn't believe that she would do a 180 so quickly. I think this is the kind of thing that takes time to figure out. I know what I'm talking about here...I was a commitment phobe when I met my husband (he was the opposite...just my luck that I would fall for a man who was into serious commitment!) Anyhow, it took me several months to realize that I had either to take the plunge or lose him. It wasn't something I figured out in a couple of hours.
This author has potential though so I'm willing to give her another try. I also love the setting in London during the Olympic Games!
This short book is all about Jack and Libby. Yes, they have a romance. Yes, they are two adults who have endured a lot. Yes, the book ends too quickly. Yes, I want more. Yes, I love the way Natalie Anderson writes. Yes, it is a wholly believable romance. Yes, I still want more. It is worth reading. I will read more books by Ms. Anderson.
A fun, flirty, sexy novella....I should probably add delicious to the mix too!
I'm never going to be able to look at a bottle of Maple Syrup quite the sameway again...to find out why you've got to read this book.
For a Novella this book had enough emotion and depth to pack the same punch as a full lenght novel. Great characters and an engaging storyline make for a very satisfying read!
I really enjoyed the story and the writing style of the writer. Libby was a delight of a character. She was equally strong and vulnerable at appropriate times. Jack was a wonderful male lead. He was caring and over protective of his family. He thought she would distract his Olympic bound brother Tom but it turned out she was his much needed distraction. The book was nice sweet and short.
"You know, you were right about me. That kiss wasn't impulsive. I've been plotting it for hours now."
Please be reminded that 2 stars means "it's okay" so this doesn't suck at all. It's just that I don't like it that much. I understand that this is a novella but I was expecting for more. Instant attraction is okay and expected but jumping into bed that fast was quite off. Both of them weren't looking for a long-term relationship and was quite reluctant, right? Or did I get that wrong?
For both characters, their attraction to each other wasn't built well. The fast-forward/days-after didn't worked for them either. Their relationship started too fast and was also skimmed. It was like their story was leaping from one point to another. Their turning point and realisation seem abrupt as well as the ending.
Libby doesn't want a fling at all, but her inner struggle with her attraction to Jack isn't believable. If I was Jack, I might see all signs saying that she was attracted to me. She keeps on denying it but she doesn't fight it either. Her reason who she was so cynic was also absurd. Was she seriously saying no to family because of what happened to her parents? I might have understood if her dad cheated with her mom, or anything like that.
With Jack, I don't even understand his issue at all. He became his siblings' parent and he's busy, so? He easily noticed how Libby looked so I assumed he actively attracted to women. I don't see the point of not having a girlfriend, even short-term relationships.
Maybe if this was a bit longer, it would be better but everything felt rushed without being able to tell the story effectively. They were cute with their banters but that's it. I really can't find the connection with the characters. Maybe this would work for you, guys but unfortunately not for me.
BARGAIN IN BRONZE by author Natalie Anderson is an Entangled Publishing release for August 2012.
Libby Harris was just making muesli for an Olympic trainee, but his brother mistook her for Tom's girlfriend. Jack Barnes was just being protective of his younger brother. But he couldn't deny the sizzling awareness he felt for Libby. But what type of a brother would make a move on his younger brother's girl?
Then he asked Libby if she was interested in his brother and hearing her deny any involvement, Jack makes his move.
Libby was not ready for any long term commitment anyway. Could she just take her fun and walk away?
And will Jack let her walk away after their sizzling encounters?
BARGAIN IN BRONZE is written with warmth, compassion and charm. It is another sensational story from the superb pen of Natalie Anderson.
This was a quick basic read. It didn't really have any emotion to it. It wasn't a bad book but i lacked a lot of depth.
The 'break up' part of the story was quite rubbish. Its was so basic that it hurt. I dont think reading short books are for me. I like to read about a happy ever after not a book that says at the end that they should take it one day at a time.
It wasnt really my type of book, but it was alright.
I picked this up for free on Amazon. I have to say the characters jumped into bed rather quickly (and with very little chemistry), and then the second-thought reasoning as to why they couldn't have a relationship did not convince me at all. I'm a fan of Entangled's books, but if you take out the sex, there wasn't much to this story.
This was a quick, but cute and endearing read. It is sometimes refreshing to read something without the constant back and forth denial of one another's feelings towards each other, unlike so many romance reads nowadays. This was sweet, short and sexy...great freebie read!
This is a book that I couldn't put down. I love the story of Jake and Libby. It opens your heart to true feeling some people experience sometime in your life. I look forward to reading the books that ft follow and many more.
When Jack finds a strange woman carrying a knife in his house, he immediately assumes the worst - and when she claims she’s been hired by his rowing prodigy brother to make him muesli, he continues to make assumptions, namely that his brother has much more than muesli on his mind. But the woman in question, Libby, is telling the truth, and has been through a tough past few weeks, having had to put her cereal making business on-hold after losing the kitchen she worked from. So Jack makes her a proposal - he will provide her with premises for making her cereals so she can continue to provide his brother with all the muesli he desires. It isn’t long before Jack and Libby are giving in to the attraction between them, but Libby has no intention of getting into a serious relationship - no matter how much she likes Jack.
This was good. It’s short and sweet, with a quite a fun and unusual premise that plays out quite nicely over the course of the novella. The chemistry between Libby and Jack is quite good, and there were some sexy scenes between them. However, I really didn’t feel some aspects of this book worked as a novella. Libby’s backstory, in particular, felt very heavy in that she seemed to have a lot of trauma to work through and I didn’t believe how their romance concluded. The writing was generally good throughout but I thought their fallout and reunion felt very clumsily done - mostly like the author knew they had to wrap things up but wasn’t quite sure how. It was a shame because I enjoyed the core aspects of this book, I just thought its ending let it down a little bit. Still, it was a quick, easy read and it passed the time quite well.
When I saw this book on offer I absolutely had to have it……..little realising that I had already read it some time ago. As I started reading again I realised why I loved it the first time. I so loved this sweet heartfelt story and enjoyed it the 2nd time just as much, I still cried even though I knew it was a happy ending. Great characters, great story and great HEA, thoughtful recommend ❤️
It's always a risk buying a Book by an author you aren't familiar with. But, so rewarding when you find yourself loving the characters, their story and the excellent writing. Natalie Anderson is now on my list of favorites. I look forward to reading the rest of this series and more.
The biggest problem is that it was to short. The story and couple are both adorable but the problem that causes them to part is never really resolved. A pretty little speech just makes everything better.
BARGAIN IN BRONZE was a basic read. It lacked in making that deep connection, but it wasn’t a bad book. If it had been longer, I think more could have been done to make this ‘wow’.
Jack Barnes has had to be both brother and parent to his two younger brother and sister. His brother, Tom is days away from competing in the Olympics in the national lightweight rowing division and when Jack find Libby Harris in is home, cooking for Tom, he isn’t going to let anyone distractions by him.
Libby is appalled by Jack’s demeanor with her. He doesn’t believe a word she tells him about making her famous muesli for Tom. Despite his ill attitude, Libby can’t help but be aware of the pull she feels between them.
Libby also has demons following her. Losing her mother to a heart condition and her father to a heart attack mere months later, Libby is sure she’s next and is determined not to put any roots down with anybody. Instead she’s put her focus into starting her business.
When Tom gets home and assures Jack he’s only after Libby’s muesli, it’s up to Jack to get Libby back to make some more. To do that, he offers her the use of a commercial kitchen to use at night. The catch, he has to be there to watch.
Night after night the tension grows as they spend hours together. She cooking and he working, both stealing glances at the other.
As they finally start their short term time together, it’s more than either was expecting. Jack finds himself realizes his siblings have been right about him not finding the joys in life. Something he tries to change by giving Libby his house key.
The meaning of a house key sends Libby panicking. Jack has to decide whether she’s worth fighting for. With encouragement from Tom, Jack catches Libby and makes her realize nobody is guaranteed tomorrow, so make the most of Today.
Bargain in Bronze by Natalie Anderson was such a delightful read! I took a chance on this and wasn't sure what to expect considering it was free (on Amazon) and by an author who was new to me. However, I loved the blurb and dived right in. What a pleasant surprise! Bargain in Bronze had everything that I was looking for: engaging characters, humor, a huge dose of sexy, and a fun plot.
The book description did a fine job of describing what the story's about so I won't regurgitate it. All I'll say simply is that Bargain in Bronze was really a wonderful story. I had a great time reading about Libby and Jack. Their attraction was instantaneous and undeniable. I enjoyed their dialogue and the sizzling chemistry. Although this story took place in only a few days timed, the author made their budding relationship and chemistry believable to the reader. I can feel the heat & passion between them and it was pretty hot between these two. Also, I probably won't be able to look at maple syrup the same again ;)
For a novella, Bargain in Bronze packed in as much as a full length novel to leave the reader satisfied. I finished this in one sitting and highly enjoyed it. Bargain in Bronze was super sexy, fun, and charming and absolutely worth the read. I'm impressed and am now looking forward to other works by Natalie Anderson. For a sexy contemporary romance, Bargain in Bronze is one that I would not hesitate in recommending!
Not a bad book. This short novella written by Natalie Anderson is very different to what you might normally read regarding bossy billionaires. The story starts with Libby Harris. With the rental kitchen she normally uses to make her muesli being burnt out, she has been commissioned to make her muesli for a famous athlete so she is using the kitchen in what she thinks is his home. Whilst taking a brief break she tours the home only to bump into the real owner of the home who happens to be her client's older brother. When Jack Barnes sees Libby in his house he is immediately suspicious of her but can't help find her attractive and sassy. He thinks she is a distraction to his brother but when he finds out that all his brother really wants is her muesli he goes out of his way to help her by letting her use one of the commercial kitchens he owns. He stays with her every might while she cooks and as they get to know each other they start falling and get intimate. With similar backgrounds they are both afraid to commit but when Jack offers her the key to his house she runs. Libby is afraid to get close to anyone incase something happens to her like it did with her parents. She doesn't want to put anyone through what she went through but after the time she has spent with Jack she realises it is better to love than go through life alone so they get back together and live happily ever after.
The three books in this trilogy are novellas, so much shorter than Natalia Anderson’s usual books, but were all still very enjoyable. This is Libby and Jack’s story. She is focussed on selling her home, made healthy Muesli as a way of encouraging healthy eating, and is determined never to be in a relationship so as never to feel loss again. Jack has been the surrogate parent to his brother and sister after their parents died. The chemistry between them is off the charts but problems come when Jack wants more. NA is an excellent writer and squeezed every word to make it play its part in this novel. Lovely, emotionally satisfying - but short! I love a longer book and I think that would have allowed more character development; and I love an epilogue, so I have reducedthe rating to 4 stars, but I still recommend it as a very good read.
Libby Harris is a copywriter by day and by night muesli creator. When champion rower Tom Barnes asks her to personally make her muesli for him she jumps at the chance. Jack Barnes doesn't know who this strange woman is standing in his apartment but he certainly wants her gone. Jack hopes this isn't another of his little brother Tom's ideas so close to his next meet. Jack admires Libby's spunk and determination after losing her place of business to fire. Libby finds herself attracted to Jack and hoping the feeling is mutual. Libby accepts his offer to use a bakery premise during the evenings as long as she cleans up after herself. Will Libby admit her attraction? Will Jack admit his attraction? Will Libby get her business off the ground again? Your answers await you in Bargain in Bronze.
Libby makes an awesome museli which she sells to Tom, a rowing candidate for an Olympic gold. He swears by her museli and must eat it daily. It's his lucky talisman. His brother Jack becomes attracted to Libby. Both have been hurt in the past by family tragedies. Jack and Libby become attracted to each other but are afraid to allow themselves to fall in love as they fear another loss in their lives. Libby suffered the loss of her commercial kitchen in a fear and Jack makes arrangements for her to use the local bakery's kitchen housed in a building that he owns. He goes over to the bakery nightly while Libby makes museli for Tom. Needless to say they become attracted to each other and decide to enjoy a fling... This is quick, fun read.
I love this quick read. It had all the feeIs. I like the characters and the story line, I just wish that it was longer. Libby is a copywriter by day and and makes gourmet muesli by night. One of her regular clients hunted her down to ensure he had it, when she had to halt production when her commercial kitchen burned. He offered to let her make it at his house, which was actually his older brother's apartment. They is hoe Libby meets billionaire businessman Jack. Jack comes home to find a stranger in his home. He is instantly suspicious Even though he's also instantly attracted. This cute story is told in dual POV. There is plenty of sasss and plenty of steam in this book. Definitely recommend. Their back and forth banter is really fun.
This is my first Natalie Anderson book. I really enjoyed her writing. For such a short book, she brought the characters to life, writing living, breathing, three dimensional people. This book was a freebie, so the reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the story felt rushed. I would have really liked to hear a lot more about Jack and Libby. There are more books I'm the series, and I'm now a reading a preview the sequel built into this book, but to my disappointment it isn't about Tom, Jack's brother. At least I think so. I'm not done reading it yet. I'll most likely continue to seek this author, to see what else she's got out there. :)
This is a quick, read it and finish it before your coffee gets cold, sort of book.
I enjoyed it but it could have been so much more and some parts either didn't get explained or just don't make sense, like the part where Libby is worried about her health after what happened to her parents. Because of this she is supposed to have turned into a commitment-phobe but decides in a very short time that she was wrong and everything's hunky-dory.
Saying that though, this was okay. It was a pleasant read.
