This is a quick book to read because once you get past the history text at the beginning, much of the book is simply photos. I loved the project to reproduce Nordenskiold's original photos a hundred years later. I can only imagine how much time and effort that took. In most cases the "modern" photos were taken at the same time of day so even the shadows are the same.
My biggest complaint - really my only complaint - about the book is that the small size doesn't do the photos justice. They had to be scaled to be only about three inches wide, making much of the detail hard to see. I wish I could've seen the gallery exhibition of the same photos at large scale. Or, alternatively, I wish the book was published as a large format hardback where the photos could've been more like ten inches wide.
