Magee Sinclair has had it up to her sassy short hairdo with the recent blunders pushing her family's advertising agency to the brink. How can she accept the promotion her father plans when she keeps making costly mistakes? She needs to bring in more business however she can. So when new client Justin Kane asks her to role-play as his girlfriend for a weekend in exchange for a lucrative campaign, she jumps at the chance.
Justin's goal to expand his chain of bike stores hinges on a distribution deal with a manufacturer. First, he needs to impress the man at a mountain resort while they bike trails with their significant others. But Justin's girlfriend dumps him, forcing him to find a quick replacement. Magee—pretty, clever, and a skilled cyclist—is the perfect choice to masquerade as his "lover."
Or so Justin thinks.
Because Magee is in major trouble. She knows no more about mountain biking than Justin does about demi-bras. Before long, an irate ex pops up, fake identities abound, and a whole lot of doors slam in the middle of the night. Yet, through the chaos, Magee and Justin discover what it really means to fall head over heels....
Cindy Procter-King writes steamy romcom and contemporary romance bursting with laughter and emotion. Sassy feel-good fiction!
Cindy’s books are available from eBook retailers all over the world, as well as in trade paperback, some library hardcover and large print, and some foreign editions.
Cindy lives in Canada with her family, Ghost’Da Allie McBeagle, and too many grand-dogs to count.
This was just OK nothing remarkable about it there was some funny parts and some parts that were really annoying and the whole part on basis for lying I didn't buy but overall not bad and I liked that it was based in Canada Vancouver specifically and could recognize some of the settings so that's always fun.
I really wanted to like this book. I'm a huge romantic comedy fan, but haven't read anything from this author before. First, I had trouble relating to the two characters. The whole thing hinges on their businesses and I didn't enjoy her advertising agency role or his bike stores. Since I have no interest in either, it didn't really help me connect. Also, the concept was in no way original. I've read a million books with the same concept. Since I wasn't a fan of the characters, this one didn't stand out. Yes, there were cute and funny moments and I was happy there was a good ending. Overall, it gets three stars for being a good read but not anything to get excited about.
This book read like a romantic comedy movie.... It was cute, but extremely predictable and cliché..... why is it in all, well maybe not all, but most books with humor the female has to be a klutz??? Not going to lie, there are parts where I actually laughed out loud, but it was so over-the-top and so predictable, I mean really nobody is quite the klutzy, I don't think.... As in on romantic comedy movies this book also had a happy ending, although I found it very rushed....
Okay, I have to start by saying—the name Magee just made me SO happy! Like, truly, what a gem of a name for a gem of a character. Unique, quirky, unforgettable. There’s no perfect comparison, but honestly, she gave me major Mr. Magoo vibes—in the best way possible! She's out there doing her best, but somehow always tripping into the chaos (and occasionally into Justin's arms, which… I mean, yes please).
And Justin? Whew. He’s that perfect mix of sexy, silly, and surprisingly sincere. A total goofball with a heart of gold. The chemistry between him and Magee was chef’s kiss—equal parts hilarious and heartwarming.
This book had me full-on laughing, groaning, swooning, and occasionally yelling at the pages (lovingly, of course). The banter? Sharp. The awkward moments? Delicious. The emotional payoff? So satisfying.
If you're in the mood for a rom-com that leans into the chaos, brings the laughs, and delivers a couple you can root for, this one’s a total win. Highly recommend for fans of humor, heart, and just a bit of mayhem.
Cindy Procter-King did it again! I loved Where she belongs, and although I knew nobody would ever be able to compare to Adam Wright, I really loved her writing style so much that I was pretty sure I would like this book too. I wasn't disappointed in the least. I read it from the first to the last page without interruptions, I couldn't put it down. Head Over Heels is a fast-paced, funny and romantic novel, which will keep you entertained from the first to the last page. I even cried with laughter when I read the scene of their first "practice kiss", and I swooned throughout the book at things Justin said or did. He's quite a charmer, that one! Magee Sinclair is a great heroine, and although she's a little clumsy every now and then, she's also strong and determined at the same time. I couldn't help but love her, and laugh at her clumsiness but I also easily related to her. She was a very believable character, a girl I'd like to have as friend in real life. Justin Kane might appear as the typical player, the businessman who doesn't want to commit himself to a woman before he's achieved his goals. That's the impression the reader gets when the book opens with him being dumped by his girlfriend who wants to get married and have babies. But as the story goes on, and he starts interacting with Magee, we get to know the real Justin Kane, . Justin is hot (no denying it!) but he's also sweet, and he's funny. I loved their interactions, their friendly banters, and the dialogue was just brilliant. Kudos to the author; once again you didn't disappoint my expectations, Mrs. Procter-King! PS will we get a sequel? It would be fun to read more about Magee and Justin!
Head Over Heels by Cindy Procter King Justin who is in charge of the company mountain bike side of things has set up a weekend with the Willouby's from England who might want to invest in the company. He was to take his girlfriend Trina with him and mountain bike on the trails with them but she broke it off with him and now he needs to find another to take her place. He finds his ad agency agent Magee and she's agreed to do what needs to be done. She finds herself to be a klutz and everything goes wrong even in her ad agency that her dad has left her in charge of while he's on a vacation. On the trip to Whistler they stay at Justins family house and the real Trina shows up and causes havoc with the whole plan. Now it looks like sabotage has taken place at Magee's place of business and she starts snooping to find out who's got it in for her. She left Justin and all the others to work out their problem as she sorts through her own turmoil.
The writing wasn't too bad, but the whole story is based on a false pretense that just doesn't make any sense. The main character is pretending to be Tina, Jason's girlfriend who just dumped him. I can understand that she may need to take on Tina's name in order to fool Jason's clients, but having never met them before, why does she have to pretend to have all of Tina's characteristics (details of her life, job title, number of siblings, etc). It just didn't make any sense. She could have stayed herself and just taken Tina's name. Because this whole thing made no sense to me, I found the book to be rather irritating at times.
Funny and cute. It makes you laugh to know what they will do to make a deal. I still couldn't figure out how he didn't know she wasn't an advanced cyclist. I am sore after a little riding and then to go on the mountain? I also like how he handles the other girlfriend. Scenes are hot!
Cindy Procter-King does a great job of sucking the reader right into this story from the beginning! HEAD OVER HEELS is a sweet, funny love story that makes you smile from ear to ear!
I gave this book a few chances but just couldn't make it through. I think I reached about 55% on my kindle.
The main female - Magee - was klutzy, a nervous wreck and walked around like she had a rod up her backside - always serious. I just could not like her. And I couldn't believe that Justin was starting to like her.
I found this book for free on Amazon.ca via BookBub; this is my honest review. -First I have to agree with one other reviewer that the timing for sex wasn't that great BUT he wasn't unfaithful - and won't be - and that's enough for me. -It starts as a fun read and doesn't let go until the end. There are a lot of LOL/OMG moments, all believable because Magee is so klutzy and Justin desperately wants to do business. -Justin and Magee make a balanced pair and it was fun to see them getting "in these nutty situations" as the author would say. -Loved the end at Magee's office and loved the end at Justin's office. This is business, and business only.
This is my first book by Cindy and I assure you it will not be my last. I enjoyed Magee and Justin’s story. Being a romantic at heart, I know that all the ‘fake’ relationship books never end how they the couples plan. They always fall in love even though some fight it. Magee and Justin are good together and even though it was ‘pretend’ their attraction was real. Justin came to his senses and had to let go of his aspirations for expanding his business because love won plus he didn’t want to end up like his dad. It only ever takes love to make you change your life plans and goals. Look forward to the next book by Cindy.
This was a cute fake-girlfriend story. Magee Sinclair has the PR account for Justin Kane's bicycle shop. He wrangles her into posing as his girlfriend when the original one backs out of a weekend with a potential investor. Apparently his GF breaking up with him would make him an unstable prospect..... Magee has her own challenges, after losing several accounts for her father's firm. She can't lose this one, so agrees to pose as Justin's significant other. The story was pretty predictable, and I didn't like all the lying that was going on, but I did enjoy the characters.
5 stars I received a free copy of Head Over Heels by Cindy Procter-King and this review was given freely. A strong sense of family duty, and a ingrained need to give her all in any situation has Magee agreeing to impersonate her client Justin's ex-girlfriend. Sabotage, Irony, some episodes of clumsiness, realistic characters, and attraction leading to a happy ending make this short sweet romance an interesting and quick read.
A good story especially if you enjoy slapstick humor. Magee is delightful when she isn't beating herself up. Justin is primarily a goal oriented, business minded individual. He particularly lacks any insight into people who aren't him. But, over the course of the story, he improves enormously. The story ends quite well.
Relationships don't work well when they are build on lies. I didn't like the lies they were telling. I didn't like the resolution, it is unrealistic. Business doesn't work that way. For those who love chick flicks and don't have any real experience with romance, maybe this book would be fun for them to fantasies about. I need more than lust and drama to enjoy a book.
This is a book about lies and deception and how they get us all tangled up. But it is also a nice little HEA romance set in Vancouver. My favorite character is Magee because she was just so endearingly cute and nice. This is a nice read for a lazy summer afternoon.
My first read for this author. Overall quality of writing was really good. Two people, two businesses, wanting to succeed they work together to make that happen, but lead off with a lie. Lesson learned? Read and find out. No cheating or cliffhanger and you get a happy ever after. Enjoy 🤓
An amusing book of lies creating havoc. When an advertising agent lies about being able to mountain bike leads a bike retailer to ask her to be his pretend girlfriend for a business merger negotiation after his real girlfriend dumped him two days before this important weekend it leads to a comedy of errors.
I absolutely loved this book. The villains and all. The know it all worker and especially Tina and her vindictive nature. I thought she left him to be with someone else but s by e wanted marriage and babies. Love how everything came into play. Bravo on the book!
Justin Kane is trying to impress a client but his girlfriend Tina dumps him and he is in a bind. Justin asks Magee Sinclair to pose as his girlfriend to meet his client. Magee works with her family at their advertising business. There is an instant attraction between Magee and Justin. I really enjoyed this amazingly hilarious rom com novel.
This was a awesome read. The storyline was great & well written. Mage & Justin captured your interest at the first chapter & kept it until the end.The story makes the point that no good comes out of living for any reason.
Everything seems to be going wrong and things get even more crazy when doing whatever needs to be done to come out ahead in business. Unfortunately, more happens than just business. A cute romance with lots of laughs. Recommend it!
It was an unusual story. His girlfriend dropped him because he was wanting to wait to start a family so he gets a stand in for his business meeting and ends up asking her to marry him. It was a very unusual situation. An interesting story.
She’s an advertising agent who lied about her mountain bike skills to get an account. He now needs a girlfriend to get a merger. Two lies make for a mess but also a recipe for love.
This is a cute story with an interesting plot. While it has elements I've read before (a "web of lies" that unravel and derail the blossoming relationship), the characters are likeable and the story kept me interested.
The story is adorable (very funny, spicy but not too graphic, and lots of “aww” moments). Nice, quick weekend read, full of endless mishaps, a perfectly not perfect pairing, and the HEA they deserve!
