I found "Push" to be impossible to put down from the opening pages. I give it four stars, only because typos and some uncompleted phrases can be found in this first edition. If not for formatting, it would be a five-star from me! Kale is an engaging heroine who has more than her fair share of dysfunction in her family. Her mother has long-since resigned from her role as anything but a couch potato and doormat to her psychotic husband, who is prone to endless, twisted rantings and grandiose ideas about taking over the world. He obsesses over his step-daughter, convinced that Kale has a special role to play in his dark plans. Along her frightening journey to become free of his unrelenting agenda for her life, she discovers a power within herself that she didn't know she had; profound love in unexpected places; and the bitterness of betrayal. So pull up a comfy chair, and settle in for a great read. I finished it in one day. Gather snacks first, you won't want to stop for a lunch break.

It took me some time to understand quite what was going on as I watched the web of lies and deceit that Kale was enmeshed in, and then I wanted to see how it all worked out. I would have appreciated a bit more history behind the 'gifts / talents' that Kale had and whether they were rare or not, but generally I enjoyed the book.

Kale and Cole Carson live at home with a mother that has retreated from life itself, living in the world of whatever is playing on the television and withdrawn from the lives of her children, and a paranoid step-father that calls himself "The General". The General is a man with anger issues which causes him to be continually losing jobs which he blames on "The Government"
Kale has a power that draws The General's attention and she becomes central to his plans to over-throw the Government and take-over control. Kale becomes increasingly uncomfortable with this unwanted attention, especially when she learns she is expected to be an important part in her step-father's plans.
Eventually Kale, after graduating from high school, is forced to run from the crazed General. She heads to California with Brother Cole's ex-girlfriend, Dru. As Kale blossoms away from The General, Dru starts to withdraw and will eventually leave.
The book begins with Kale on the run from The General with a boy she has met named Adam. Kale and Adam slowly grow in their relationship as they try to stay ahead of The General and others that he has enlisted to help find her.
This book started out some what slow but it builds as it goes along. Kale slowly comes to understand her power and why The General wants her. She also comes to she who Adam really is and why he appears out of no where to help her. By the middle of the book it is impossible to put down. This is a very good and I recommend it highly.

Kale is on the run. Her stepfather, nicknamed the General, is after her. Her new friend Adam is helping her, but she barely knows him. He appeared five weeks ago, saying that he's always had visions of her and that he's planned for this moment his whole life. Basically Kale has powers and whatever side she chooses to fight on is the side that will win. That's why the General (a psychopath) wants her - he wants to topple the government and rule the United States.
The story is interspersed with flashbacks. That is not my favorite literary method, so that was a little frustrating. I would rather stay in present tense. Kale wasn't totally likable, her personality fluctuated too much and she acted kind of ridiculous at times. I think the relationship with her brother Cole, could've been better played as well. I would like to see more of her and Adam. I liked it when they finally admitted they liked it each other, even though their whole relationship was a little weird.
I will definitely be reading the rest of the series. I'm not sure where it is going, so it will be fun to see what happens with the story.

Fast paced book. Sure glad I was sent the sequel along with PUSH. It truly should be published as one book. Also, a redo on the editing needs to take place. Liked the characters and was fun discovering their special "talents". Good descriptions - could actually see the events take place. Probably written for the young adult market. Enjoyed it anyway. Glad I can now immediately pick up PUSH BACK and read the rest of the story. I would have really felt cheated if I had purchased PUSH and was left in the air.

The story had me from the very beginning. Don't start reading unless you have time to finish it because you won't want to put it down! Very likeable characters (except for the unlikeable ones..haha). Can't wait for the sequel!

I loved this book! I agree with the other reviewer that says make sure you have time! I had to peel myself away to feed the kids and such, but still was able to read it in one day! It is an awesome book! The story is great and the characters are wonderful! It is worth the read!
