Never desiring a man for purposes other than feeding and fornication, the Countess continued her search for a good minion.
Naturally, the minion she now possesses, Jason, is sexy and willing to be subjugated to the point most men would find humiliating; but he is also an ignorant piece of perspiring filth. Therefore, not only undeserving of her time, but the immortal gifts in which she could bestow. Thus far, no one had been worthy of her gift, never mind being on her arm for eternity.
That is, until she meets Jason's brother, James, who is the polar opposite of Jason. It may be problematic that he is engaged to someone else, but that isn't an issue for the Countess.
Lindsay Weigel has kept her sanity and social life by living in her own mind and writing what the voices tell her to. Living in New Hampshire with her family, including the dog. She makes her living cooking, cleaning, care taking, and dog walking (also known as a stay at home mom.)She plans to continue writing even when she returns to the world of working adults.
What a different way to look at the whole vampire/minion concept. I was immediately sucked into the story and seeing it from the vampire's perspective, as opposed to the human's really changed the story. I was impressed. It was dark in parts, which I loved, and just plain fascinating. The only problem I had was that I got confused a couple of times as to if we were in the present or the past, but I am 99% sure that was because it bugged me every time I needed to stop reading it, so I would pick it up while sitting in the drive thru at the bank or while waiting in the driveway for my son to get out of lessons, etc. Reading five minutes here and five minutes there is not the best way to read a book, but sometime a book calls to you and you simply "have" to read it.
I think my favorite part about this book was watching the story unfold through the eyes of the Countess. She is beyond not a nice person (vamp) and has some really horrible thoughts running through her head. She is narcissistic and can be down right cruel. She is most certainly not someone I would ever want to meet in real life. Seeing things from her perspective was simply fascinating and I think if it was from a different characters point of view, the story would not have been any where near as interesting.
This book is an adult book and not meant for teen readers.
Ok all im going to say is WOW, i really liked this book....im not big on the whole romance thing, but i really enjoyed this one. I really liked how it was in the Vampires mind set and not the other way around like most books are....N the ending was not what i expected at all and i loved it and respect the way she ended it that way.....way to go Lindsay Love ya girl!!!!!
