Seeking sanctuary could be the hottest mistake she ever made.
The Triple Horn Brand, Book 1
A lifetime ago, Zuri Prescott kicked the dirt off her boots and ditched her small-time small town for the glam city life—and lived to regret it. When she’s framed for a bank job, she lights out for home, seeking refuge with her old high school sweetheart while she figures out her next steps. Only she discovers that the boy she left behind is the last man she should trust.
Sheriff Colt Triplehorn knows trouble when he sees it, especially when it comes in the form of a familiar trespasser, caught naked between an angry bull and her underwear. Sure she’s up to her usual no good, he grants her sanctuary at his ranch—the better to keep an eye on her, and purge her from his system once and for all.
Reconnection is sweet and hot, but the heat can’t hide the truth. When Colt inevitably finds out what Zuri’s running from, it’s too late to put the fire out, and he’s got a career-compromising choice on his hands. Follow the letter of the law, or follow his heart.

Such a great story. I loved the heat, desire snd commitment between Zuri snd Colt. It was so well written. Characters were relatable and believable. They had loved each other in high school and because of misunderstandings, Zuri left town, leaving Colt with a broken heart. Years later, through troubled circumstances,Zuri needs a place to hide out from a man hunting her down, so she comes back home. I will read anything by this author, she never disappoints!
I always love to read a story that is set in a small town with a couple that have back history from when they were younger. It is always amazing how they can come back together and rekindle what they had and make it better. Great second chance read
Fast paced, sexy, and romantic. Colt and Zuri had great chemistry. The story included some intrigue, suspense, and action. Easy to read and enjoy in one sitting.
I always love the start of a new series especially one by an author I read regularly but they also make me nervous because I always wonder if it will be as good as previous series’. If Laying Down The Law is indicative of what we can expect from Delilah Devlin’s new Triple Horn Brand series then I have no doubt this series will be a winner!
Zuri Prescott and Colt Triplehorn were high school sweethearts and lovers but twelve years have passed and they didn’t end on the best of terms. Zuri is in trouble but she has no idea that the one person she trusts to help her could very well have her arrested. I enjoy lovers re-united stories mainly because they usually move at a pretty quick pace, the interested parties have been there done that so it never takes long for the heat to come up to boiling again. In this case, the heat goes from freezing to hotter than hell in a blink of an eye!
Both Zuri and Colt have reasons to not trust each other and although their reasons come from a big misunderstanding, it was interesting to watch how they both tried not to engage their feelings. Zuri has a lot of inferiority issues and while Colt has never made her feel that way, in her head she doesn’t understand why he ever wanted to be with her. Colt is raw from the way they parted years ago but he’s never gotten over Zuri leaving. These two had some major issues to work through and when you throw in the trouble that’s following Zuri, this becomes a really intense story. Of course the intensity leads to some pretty smokin’ hot sex scenes leaving us no doubt that Colt likes to be in charge.
I enjoyed the characters very much and can’t wait to find out what happens with Colt’s brothers, Gabe and Tommy. I loved the realistic quality of the flash flood; anyone who’s lived in Texas understands those are something you don’t mess with. As always with a book by Delilah Devlin, the love scenes were passionate and very gratifying. Laying Down the Law is a great, quick read and a fantastic start to a new series!
An erotic adventure between reunited high school sweethearts—one who’s running from the law and the other who is the law. What fun!
Who can resist a heroine who is in trouble with the law and decides to run to her high school boyfriend’s hunting cabin to hide? Zuri Prescott survives a robbery at the bank where she works. Then she realizes why she felt that the masked robber seemed so familiar. He’s a cop she knows and she’s been set up to take the fall for the robbery, or to be killed once he finds her. When he does catch up with her, he forces her car into the river and she’s once again fighting for her life.
She survives the car accident, but a bull makes a mess of her clothes when she’s bathing in the river at the hunting cabin. Her bra floating down the river catches the attention of Colt Triplehorn, the boyfriend she left behind five years ago, the day they graduated. If that’s not a bad enough day, she’s naked, yelling at a bull when Colt finds her, asking more questions than she’s willing to answer, especially when she’s naked.
A humorous reunited lovers story, it doesn’t take long for this couple to show each other how much they’ve missed one another. Their sexual attraction is beyond their control, even though there are hurt feelings simmering from years ago. Then there’s this little matter of Zuri being wanted by the law, with this crazy story about being framed and Colt, who is the sheriff in his small town, thinking about hiding a fugitive. What more can happen? I’m sure you’ll have as much fun finding out as I did.
Delilah Devlin knows how to heat up the sheets and keep the reader wondering what will happen next in an entertaining story, with characters you can easily care about. Oh, and did I mention that Colt Triplehorn has brothers? Something to look forward to in THE TRIPLEHORN BRAND series.
NOTE: Goodreads has LAYING DOWN THE LAW listed as 123 pages, but it was 246 pages on my Nook. Not sure why such a huge page difference but I felt there was plenty of time to get to know these sassy characters.
Devlin has done it again! I pretty much gobble up anything she writes and "Laying Down the Law" is another hit. Zuri is caught up in a bank robbery and ultimately is framed for something she didn't do. What else can she do really but go back to her small hometown and to the only person she has truly loved? Colt Triplehorn is surprised to find Zuri back and can't help himself when he decides to be her protector. His family is against the idea and feels he should leave well enough alone, but he goes against their advice and brings Zuri back to his home and his life. I think the magic in Delilah's character's are in their simplicity. You feel like you know Zuri, know her motivations and understand why she does the things she does. it creates a likeability factor and you root for the couple throughout the whole story. Plus, Delilah writes in such a hot way the pages almost burn your fingers. Fun and fast, "Laying down the Law" is great for fans of western romances or someone looking for that great next "hot" read! Desperately waiting for the next in this series, I can't wait to know what happens to Colt's hot brothers!
This is a contemporary erotic romance novel, more like a novella than a full length book. Set in rural Texas, the heroine returns to her small hometown, 10 years after escaping small town life following graduation. Zuri, who has a creepy stalker that managed to frame for a robbery, runs to the protection of her first love, Colt. Colt is bitter over her departure and shocked to see her back, but his feelings for her run deep.
Although trust issues abound, the sexual chemistry is still hot and heavy and before long the two rekindle the passion. Devlin knows how to write a tantalizing and erotic bedroom scene, shower scene, out in the field scene... you get the idea. This couple gets it on, early and often.
While many of the complications the couple experiences aren't new, Devlin does a good job writing relevant dialogue, creating realistic and sympathetic characters.
There are some interesting secondary characters introduced, and I look forward to reading their stories.
I actually started this one yesterday after reading Delilah's blog again. More or less stocked it. I was in between books and could not decide which one to start reading. Reading her blog made that decision very easy. I started it last night and finished it this morning. I did not want to put it down. Young love that comes back is one of my favorites. It is like having a second chance. And I believe in giving second chances. I finished this one and then moved right on to the next one in the series and finished that one this afternoon. And now I am wanting more. I am loving Delilah's books. I have never had one let me down.
She sure knows how to get you hooked in and keeps you in. You want to keep reading until you know the end.
Zuri and Colt were both stubborn and let go of something so good when they were younger. Not really knowing what the other felt. Neither one said how they truly felt. They went their own ways. Fate had a different story for them and brought them back together. Tension builds and the truth has a way out.

This is the first book I've read by Delilah. Now I'm going to have look at her other books.
Laying Down the Law is the first book in The Triple Horn Brand series, I can't wait to find out who's next and what the book is about. Laying Down the Law was not what I expected. Honestly, I'm not sure what I was expecting. Reading this book reminded me of Maya Bank's Colter's Woman, without the added guys involved. I loved the way the Triplehorn brothers stick together.
Colt is sexy on so many levels, I can't begin to explain. I love the picture of the guy carrying a big gun and using it.
When Sheriff Brock Cooper stopped Dr. Melanie Cooper for traffic violations, they both realized a few things. He realized she was no longer the funny looking teenager he and his friends taunted. She realized a dozen years hadn't lessened the pain of being mocked relentlessly and as soon as she settled her mother and her aunt. Then she noticed his sickly looking son.
For my taste this outing felt rushed overall. The mystery piece worked well enough but the romance felt awkward for the most part as both characters were distracted, her with the difference a dozen years make and him with his current obligations. Brock's ex seemed unnecessarily heavily weighted with negativity for compare and contrast in their triangle. Rating: 3.5stars
So this was a sexy little read, great for in between more substantial books. Colt is a hot, delicious, alpha-male sheriff/ranch owner; Zuri an old flame, who as a result of a misunderstanding had been out of his life for 12 years. She's now in trouble with the law and of course where better to seek shelter than with her smouldering sheriff ex-boyfriend? Lots of steamy scenes between these two (I mean long chapters full of their bedroom exploits) but with a decent little storyline (don't expect any major twists or turns, the plot is very basic but sometimes keeping it simple is a good thing too) and a great HEA too. Enjoyed it.
Highly enjoyed Laying Down the Law. This was my first story by Delilah Devlin & I was not disappointed. Loved her writing style. Story was nicely written. The characters were well developed and likeable. Story was fast-paced with a pinch of suspense thrown in.
The love scenes were well-written & definitely kindle-melting hot! *fans self* Colt & Zuri def had some great chemistry ;) In all, thoroughly enjoyed reading every minute of Laying Down the Law & looking forward to more books in this series!
What a lovely surprise. Ex-girlfriend comes back to small town, seeks refuge w/ex. They broke up because neither one trusted and other enough, and they didn’t talk about it. I loved the fact that they talked and figured it out, like grown ups do. The chemistry between them was smokin’ hot. This is one of Ms. Devlin’s best.
Love Love Love Delilah Devlin! Everything she does is delightfully fun, sex, and I always feel HELLA GOOD when I've read one of Ms. Devlin's stories... She has become one of my top ten favorite authors.
I'm always a fan of Delilah Devlin, especially her cowboys. Laying Down the Law delivered the smokin' hot men and feisty women I've come to associate with Delilah's writing.
