BEGIN MURDERER is a British detective-thriller set in 1950s Sussex. Lindsey Grey, the narrator, is a private, ex-policeman detective investigating the death of a wealthy painter, critic and art collector, and the strange disappearance of much of his collection. Grey soon finds himself embroiled in a series of murders, with two beautiful women and an unscrupulous villain to contend with.
Desmond Cory made a name for himself as a first-class writer of thrillers with his first novel – and has enhanced an already enviable reputation with his second. “Begin, Murderer!” is ingenious and original, and is written with an easy smoothness and a freshness of style. This is a story packed with action and well flavoured with romance and humour. Its characters are well drawn, and its plot skillfully developed with an unexpected dramatic climax.
I was fortunate enough to be able to read this for free, I am more than grateful. It is a thoroughly well written story that sets a fast with some tough and scary characters. The plot begins when Lindsey Grey a private detective and ex cop becomes involved with the murder of a rich man in the art world. From then on the mystery and danger is a continuous theme. Lots of interesting characters and thrill along adventure make this a book very well worth reading.
