James and Tessaira grew up in a tiny town surrounded by trees with only one way in or out. In the mountains of Pennsylvania, the two formed a lifelong friendship. Until Tessaira decided to move.
At twenty four years old, Tessaira Faye Jones, AKA Tess, left the only life she ever knew to go to New York and pursue her dream of becoming a columnist for one of the most well known newspapers in the world. What she leaves behind is her parents, her childhood, and her best friend. She had never known another person like him, and now in New York, he crosses her mind from time to time.
After losing his father to the mines that surrounded the tiny town he and Tess grew up in, James Ryan Addler, AKA Jimmy, has finally found the courage to sign on with a record label. He’s ready for what New York has to offer while working on his new CD, but doesn’t expect to run into the one person who stole his heart.
Jimmy and Tess never say good bye. It is always: See you soon.
Lindsay Chamberlin is an author who is self publishing her own works. She grew up in Northern Virginia and has been writing since she was a teenager. She would constantly write in a journal, including her day to day life and random thoughts that she found noteworthy.
When she graduated from high school with English Honors and Math Honors, she knew her life would go in one of two ways. She would either become a writer or work in finance.
Finance won. Until recently, she did not think her dream of being a known author would ever come true, but thanks to self publishing, she is finally able to get her work out to the public in hopes that they will enjoy her short stories, novels, and select poems.
Her wish for her readers is that they will find themselves within her novels, living out every scene with the characters as if they were there with them.
Books are meant for our silent escape into another world that would normally exist only in our dreams. Please, enjoy!
See You Soon was a very quick read. It's a story about Tess and Jimmy (best friends) who grow up in small town, USA. They end up going their separate ways in life and end up "finding each other" again. This love story is not all kittens and rainbows though, there are quite a few twists and turns on this road to love...
I finished it feeling like there were a lot of contrived parts. So very bad. Ongoing teenage angst for 24yos. Never grown up. Can't have a conversation because then the author wouldn't have anything to write about. Constant stupid miscommunications. Dumb as dirt h. Convenient bits that mean nothing, but she couldn't find a way to write it with out all this junk thrown in. OTT bad guy who blinks and moves on. Bits of story to make it easier for her, that she just dumps... Like it finishes leaving the mainly useless stories about both the parents just hanging out the... I agree, they weren't needed, but the author put them in there, so she should have done 'something' with them! For no real reason, the cat 'knows' who the good guy is and the bad. Endless useless trope that's slathered on thick enough to choke on. This one truly is more is more.
Great storyline, although just a little bit predictable in some parts. When Jessica and Tess went to hear the musician, I knew who it was going to be. And I got vibes off of Joey right from the start that told me that something was not quite.....right. All in all I have to say it was a good book though. Really sweet story about two kids who grew up together and wound up going their separate ways, only to reconnect four years later far from home. After some twists and turns, and Tess' annoying habit of being so difficult, the ending was nice. I would have liked a bit more closure on her dad and his injuries and if it was a happy ending all the way around, but it is what it is. Very enjoyable read!
See You Soon by Lindsay Chamberlin is a romance novel about a small-town girl, Tessaira (aka Tess), who leaves her best friend, James (aka Jimmy), behind to take her dream job in New York. Right before she leaves for New York, Tess hands Jimmy a letter. Four years past before they reconnect. Is it too late?
I really like the story in general. The characters are heart-warming. The pace is pretty fast. Since the story itself isn't overly long, I would have liked it to slow it down a little, especially at the end. On the whole, I'd recommend it to those who like a genuine story about love.
My review is short only because the story is short. Romance stories usually don't need any explanations. Plus, I don't want to give anything away.
I found this book to be an entertaining read on the afternoons. Short, simple and to the point... most of the times. I became a little "irritated" with Tess's adolescent reactions to different situations, but finally in the end she took charge of her feelings. Overall I enjoyed this book, and especially lover her full name "Tessaira".
I like having a quick and easy read, but wow, was this book beyond predictable. I will also say, Tess annoyed me greatly. A good looking, nice man (I won't give away too much) wants to be with you and you're going to act so stubborn? I also had a couple unanswered questions by the end of the book as well. I had to give this a 2 out of 5 stars.
It was okey but the main character Tessa she pissed me off!! So selfish and kinda stupid anyways story was nice but the only that bother me was that the main character was really retarded anyways yeah that's it...
It was such a quick read. I enjoyed the storyline, but at the end I was left with a "is that it" feeling. We should have been able to see more into their relationship together even if in an epilogue.
It was a cute, short freebie! Every now and then there were misunderstanding between the character that annoyed me because that was the only problem. Still cute and short book!
