As a very self-assured, independent woman who doesn't listen to anyone, doesn't care what anyone thinks of her, and is up front, honest, and transparent with people, I didn't read this book for inspiration. Rather, I read this book for validation that I am "doing it right" and being true to myself, being a fierce, independent, opiniated woman, is exactly what this world needs. There were a lot of great quotes in here I whole heartedly agreed with. Don't be afraid to break rules and push boundaries. Never settle and always wear yourself proudly.

Here were some of the best quotes from this book:

"You don't need some one else's approval to do what you want; just figure it out and do it, damn it!" - Megan Mullally

"If women are supposed to be less rational and more emotional at the beginning of our menstrual cycle when the femal hormone is at its lowest level, then why isn't it logical to say, in those few days, women behave the most like the way men behave all month long?" - Gloria Steinem

"I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." - Marilyn Monroe

"Men always think I'm too demanding... but all I ask is that they treat me like the goddess I am." - Kathy Shaskan

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." - Eleanor Roosevelt

"A lot of people are afraid to say what they want. That's why they don't get what they want." - Madonna

"Women who pay their own rent don't have to be nice." - Katherine Dunn

"Whenever anyone has called me a bitch, I have taken it as a compliment. To me, a bitch is assertive, unapologetic, demanding, intimidating, intelligent, fiercely protective, in control -- all very positive attributes. But it's not supposed to be a compliment because there's that old, stupid double standard. When men are aggressive and dominant, they are admired, but when a woman possesses those same qualities, she is dismissed and called a bitch." - Margaret Cho

"Most chick singers say 'If you hurt me, I'll die.' I say, 'If you hurt me, I'll kick your ass.'" - Pat Benatar

"Don't talk to me about rules, dear. Wherever I stay, I make the goddamn rules." - Maria Callas

"I've never had a humble opinion. If you've got an opinion, why be humble about it?" - Joan Baez
