Both Proud Indy Authors: Talon P.S. and his twin, Tarian P.S. love to torment their editor with a nefarious world of foreign-lang, slang, local dialect, stretched/outside-of-the-box synonyms, as well as having been known to throw in some con-lang at times. This, of course, is all thrown in there with the dyslexia soup stock they both suffer from that makes editing with them a joy {joy: n see mental illness}.
However, the final products comes out as richly detailed holographic worlds of Gay/MM Erotic Romance; Paranormal, Sci-fi, and War time Romances; and along with Tal's favorite Space Sci-Fi Frontiers and Prin's favorite works of Post-Apocalyptic Dark Fantasies, all for readers to submerse themselves into and escape from the mundane.

Bon... Pause... Une chronique à faire... Oui...

Bon, je me lance...

Bref,

A lire absolument.

"I also tend to have a voraciously demanding sexual appetite once I've chosen to become involved with someone."

Promising start, no?

Cliff is a twinky EMT who's been left as the sole provider/caretaker for his sister, Kimmi, who has leukemia. How he winds up in Pyotr's office is a bit murky on the details, but he gets a referral ostensibly to work on his issues. What issues, you ask? Erm... *shrugs*. Pyotr's a psychologist and a dominant who's 46 to Cliff's 24. Woot! Age difference! It would've been the icing on the cake if he were a bear. He is Serbian so... I just sort of made it happen (in my head). So, Cliff waltzes in believing himself to be a dominant and straight.

description

Fifth session we get this:

"...you're just like any other doctor, making me wait on you, but don't you dare try to tell I'm too young to want to be in your bed. You keep at me about saying what I want. Well- you're fucking me and that's it!"

Alrighty then. Not that straight, huh?

*suspend reality thrusters engaged*
description

Boy, those thrusters came in handy! About 5 whole minutes after the virgin ass pounding the instalove hit triggering the throwing out of the condoms followed shortly thereafter by declarations of LUB, a move in because why wouldn't you move you and your ill sister in with a guy you've known for a handful of weeks? A smattering of drama llamaesque antics naturally follow accompanied by a heaping pile of PDA. Y'know. Typical instalove algorithm stuff. Level of Cray Cray-2.

Cliff and Pyotr's stomping ground is called... brace yourselves… Club Pain.*groans* The kink is actually the high point of A Place for Cliff-bondage, suspension, exhibitionism, flogging, zip lines. Truly, queltworthy stuff. The sex is sweaty, filled with dirty talk and an abundance of floppy cocks (a personal fave), so that's a win-WIN-WIN!!! The D/s development didn't go from 0-ARE-YOU-FUCKING-CRAZY???? which was a good counterbalance to the instalove. Ironic that Pyotr, who's mostly into B/D, would fall for a brat, but there's no stopping the instalove train. I was looking forward to some quality punishments which never came to pass. *pouts*

The storyline of A Place for Cliff is unfocused, full of dead end tangents with clunky prose and some downright odd vocabulary choices. There are so many perspective changes I started feeling schizophrenic. Sloppy editing-using 'strait' rather than 'straight' or classifying the penis as a 'gland' rather than it having a 'glans' and improper usage of words; silly mistakes that kept kicking me out of the story. Most resolutions were tied up in nice little boxes with bows. Essentially, it needs to be tightened up and an editor. Desperately.

p.s. Pet peeve: if you're going to use a foreign language in your writez, it needs to be translated. Period.

2 Hearts for good kink and floppy cocks.

My thanks to the unicorns for having a lowly pony review. *pony whickers*

Every so often a book comes my way that completely floors me and takes my breath away. This particular author has managed to steal my breath not once, but twice now. If you have not read “Becoming His Slave” by Talon P.S. and you are a fan of BDSM, you are missing a phenomenal read. Following quickly on its heels is “A Place for Cliff”; a story about a young man who is torn between his duty as a brother, and his need to be loved. Cliff was introduced in “Becoming His Slave” as a wanna be Dom who couldn’t quite gain the upper hand. Forced to fight his way to the top and failing miserably at proving his dominance, he was not quite sure where his place was and often set his sights too high. When Patronus Diesel Gentry suggests Cliff visit with a counselor named Pyotr, he is hesitant but does as he is told. As he debates on whether or not to set foot inside the office, he is not prepared for the beautiful man that appears before him.

Pyotr had been given the basics about Cliff’s situation and knew that he had his work cut out for him. The moment he saw Cliff pacing outside his door, he realized that fixing the broken man would be no easy task. Cliff was hurting and Pyotr knew he would have to completely break him down before he could put him back together again. He just didn’t realize how involved he would become. As he established the parameters of their sessions and learns about Cliff’s situation, he realizes that Cliff’s life has been a difficult one. After finding out his sister had Lukemia and then being abandoned by their parents, Cliff was left to raise his sister on his own and do anything he could to pay for her medical bills. Young, alone, and desperate, Cliff took control of his sister’s care and from that day on forgot about himself. Pyotr set to task trying to teach Cliff to talk about himself and to not be afraid to ask for what he needs. When Cliff finally admits that what he needs is Pyotr, the two set out on an emotional journey that is more touching than I can describe. While many describe a woman discovering herself as that of a flower opening it’s petals for the first time, Cliff’s self discovery can only be compared to a phoenix, broken down and burned to ash only to be raised from the dust and born again as a new creature ready to take on the world. As Pyotr teaches Cliff to love who he truly is, Cliff learns to embrace his submissive nature and to not be ashamed of his love for the man who saved him.

Pyotr has some issues of his own to deal with. A born caretaker, he has a large family that he raised on his own due to his parents being left behind during difficult times in his homeland. Dealing with adversity, and the responsibility of taking care of his brothers and sisters, Pyotr never took a lover for himself and finds that he is conflicted now that he has found a man that he wants to spend his life with. His family is not completely on board and Cliff has a lot of issues that need to be dealt with. For their relationship to work Cliff will have to deal with his sister’s prognosis, Pyotr will have to deal with his family, and the two of them will have to get through some of their most difficult decisions together.

Never have I seen a relationship between two men as gripping as this one. I found myself curious and even annoyed with Cliff in the first book of this series, and when the reasons behind Cliff’s behavior were revealed, I found myself embarrassed that I questioned his actions. He is so torn and so damaged from his parents leaving him and watching his sister go through the pain and suffering of having Lukemia.

Suffering himself with bone marrow donations and working long hours as a paramedic, Cliff’s only outlet was the BDSM club he frequented when he had time. What made me sad was that he never found his place at the club or anywhere else because he was looking for the wrong thing.

Thinking he would feel complete as a Dom, it was not until Pyotr came into his life that Cliff realized it was time to let someone else make the decisions. When Cliff finally lets go, Pyotr is there to catch him and the two of them together a beautiful. There is no other way to put it. My heart wept for these two beautiful men and the love they share between them. Yes there is amazing sex both tender and heart pounding, but this story is so much more. It is an awakening of the soul and how sometimes the best way to show strength is to allow ourselves to be weak in front of others. A Place for Cliff, exemplifies love in a way that is nothing less than awe inspiring (just keep the tissues handy).

4.5 star review from The Blogger Girls.

This story was a little bit different than I was expecting after reading the first, Becoming His Slave, but I was not disappointed in the least. While there were appearances from the other characters in the previous book, and some even played important roles, this story takes place almost completely outside the club.

Cliff is a young man who has had a pretty difficult time taking on a lot of grown up responsibilities. He was basically forced to take charge when his parents left him and his ailing younger sister, Kimmie, high and dry. He not only had to take care of them, but had to deal with all of her medical issues and treatment caused by her cancer. To this end, he has also made it a point to show people (namely people at the club) that he is a strong dominant with goals of becoming the next Dominus (or head Dom).

Pyotr, on the other hand, is an older guy, who was forced to take the role of both parents to his 10 siblings when they fled Serbia without their parents. He is very calm and confident, knows himself and what he wants/needs and realizes pretty quickly that Cliff, despite his age, is a good match for him. Their relationship begins when Cliff was referred by Diesel to Pyotr for help. It takes them a few sessions to realize what kind of help Cliff needs. With each visit, Cliff begins to warm up to Pyotr as he comes to terms with what Pyotr is offering. Pyotr reinforces the need for Cliff to take everything slowly, to savor and enjoy and see more than just the end result.

I loved these guys together. Pyotr takes his time waiting for Cliff to give in to his submissive side, as opposed to forcing it to happen. While there are some BDSM elements/scenes here and there, this is mostly about the D/S and giving up control. Cliff is on the edge of having a major breakdown when Kimmie’s cancer returns in full force, and it takes some convincing for him to realize Pyotr will be there for him when no one else has been up to this point.

I have to say that I loved Kimmie’s character, and it definitely broke my heart to see what she was going through. Definitely have your tissues handy the last quarter of this book where she is concerned.

I also loved seeing the other characters and meeting Pyotr’s siblings. There are so many I have questions about, and I still long for more of Diesel’s story. I enjoyed this every bit as much as the first book, though for different reasons. It is a very well-developed story with characters I really cared about. The sex scenes were passionate and well done, and everything surrounding Kimmi was beautiful and heart wrenching at the same time. I did have a few questions about how Cliff managed after his parents’ departure, and how he found himself at the club and into the helpful hands of Diesel, who seemed to have taken him under his wing and became Kimmie’s guardian angel. This series is getting better and better, and I’m definitely ready to read the next installment.

Where to begin... I'm not much for writing reviews, so I'll just dive in.

Do not pity Cliff for the life he had thrust upon him when his parents left him to care for his ailing sister. Do not pity Pyotr when he reveals the heartbreaking tragedy of his family's journey to America. Do not pity Kimmi when she makes the most difficult, selfless and courageous choice possible.

Instead, cheer for the strength Cliff found as he cared for her. Laugh at the camaraderie Pyotr's siblings show as they rally around the dinner table. Sob with Kimmi and tell her it's okay... that everything is going to be alright now.

And all of these things were the trials and tribulations of a tantalizing and very steamy love story. What more could you want?

This book made me laugh, cringe, rage and cry. (Not an easy thing to do.) This book.. was more than a book. It took me on a journey that had me marveling with every page.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I will admit that I did not like Cliff in book #1 but this just brought out his true character and how much he was hiding behind in the first book.
Very well writing. My heart would smile then break through the whole story. I love that in a book. All you can hope for is a happy ending with Pyotr & Cliff after all they have had to suffer in their life.
I would say this has just taken #1 in my favorite M/M book and I have a feeling the whole Series will be in my top 10.
Talon p.s. you write some of the most amazing sex scenes. Your words are just amazing. :)
~~I can't wait for the next one~~

Cliff is moving blindly forwards as he stays strong for his sister, when he is given Pyotr’s business card and told to meet him he stumbles across something he never thought he wanted nor needed… support. Pyotr finds in Cliff something he never thought he would before, someone that he sees as an equal, but Cliff is at an invisible breaking point and he has more to face, together they can pick up the pieces and find love.

The first thing I am going to say is if you have had dealings with cancer or are soft hearted then the second part of the book will tear your heart out and leave you crying. Cliff has always been the support for his sister, both mother and father after his fled (and yes I mean fled) leaving them to struggle with illness and bills. Cliff sees himself as a Dom because he has always been in charge but when he meets Pyotr he begins to find himself, and with Pyotr’s guiding hand he accepts that he needs someone to dominate him. Pyotr sees in Cliff someone who has blocked himself off as much as he can to his emotions, Pyotr sets out to break down the walls but falls for Cliff, Cliff accepts everything that Pyotr offers and the two make a match made in heaven.

Even though this book does have D/s and slight BDSM, it is woven into the storyline beautifully and is very delicately handled but very hot, very, very hot. Cliff and Pyotr both have very similar life histories and they make a very well matched pair. The further you read into this book the more you discover just how wonderful these two men are and how well suited, we also discover their stories that will make you rage at unfairness and cry at the restrictions they have faced. The supporting characters are great and you will want to gather them all together and celebrate and mourn with them, Kimmi will devastate you but you will love her for her bravery.

This is not just a book about a romance; it is about love in all forms, about sacrifices for the ones you love, about rage, grief, happiness, sadness, and acceptance. It is about two men finding that one person who is perfect for them and how they fit together perfectly with a little steering, two men finding love in difficult times and accepting what you truly need (even when you don’t first know what that is). The extended families are wonderful and made this story come alive with more detail and emotional upheaval, Pyotr’s Thanksgiving reminded me of my families get together ;-).

I recommend this to those who love strong but fragile men, hot sex, D/s, slight BDSM, a whole range of emotions to feel, exceptional characters and a happy ending… but I also recommend having handy a box of tissues (for the crying you dirty minded puppies).

Review of “A Place for Cliff” by Talon PS
By R.L. Bailey
5 of 5 Angel wings
5 of 5 flames for heat

“Can I help you with something?”
With those six words, the love story begins. Cliff Patterson is so many things. Loving and loyal brother, first responder, wanna be Dominus of the kink club he belongs to. But he’s so much more than that, and it takes someone like Pyotr Laszkovi to figure out exactly what. Cliff is a man torn between wanting to be a carefree young man on the prowl and being the responsible parent figure for his little sister Kimmi. He’s confused and conflicted, so the Patronus of the club, Diesel, also known as the guardian angel, sends him to the one man who can help him.
Pyotr is a psychariast, but he’s also a man who finds himself competely taken by the handsome younger man. Putting aside his professional duties, the two quickly discover that the attraction is a two way street.
Pyotr is older, successful, and a sexual dominant. He warns his young lover that he has a voricious appetite for sex and worries it will be too much for Cliff, who quickly assures him that he can handle it.
With Pyotr, Cliff finds the one constant he needs in his life. Pytor is, for want of a better term, Cliff’s true north. The one thing in his life he can depend on.
The two go on an exploration of life together. Soon Pyotr has become just as important to Kimmi, who had decided the man is perfect for her brother. The three soon live together, and though ups and down, highs and the lowest of lows, the love and bond they share can’t be broken. Hatred, bigotry, nothing can break them apart.
“Cliff?”
“No!” Cliff suddenly shouted, “I don’t want to be consoled. I don’t want to be told we’ll get through this! Don’t do what they do.”
“What is it they do, Cliff?”
“Tell me it’s going to be okay. That’s what they do.” Cliff shook his head furiously, “Don’t tell me that. Because it’s not going to be.”
“I won’t. I just want you to know I’m here for you. I’m here for you both.”

There are parts of this book so heartbreakingly beautiful that to hold one’s tears back is impossible. Talon weaves a story that can’t be put down. When I was done, I felt sadness, and also hope. These two, so very different in looks, taste, personality, just about everything, found each other in a sea of others looking. The two men balance each other perfectly, each having strengths the other may be lacking. I loved this story, and I can not wait for Dane’s story.

Reviewed for Hearts On Fire Reviews - 4 1/2 hearts

If you can look past the prominent editing issues in this book, you’ll find a story that will warm your heart and break it at the same time. While part of a series, I had no trouble jumping into this book first – it read fine as a standalone.

For all of his adult life, Cliff has only known the heavy burden of responsibility and decisions. He doesn’t complain about it – far from it, in fact. He loves his little sister beyond words and can’t imagine a life without her, and yet that reality looms over his head like the most oppressive of hot and humid days – the kind that barely let you breathe. He feels the need to control everything around him to maintain the little thread of sanity holding him together. But is that what he really needs? Or does he really need someone else to take control and be there to catch him when he falls apart?

Pyotr is the much older attractive man that a friend refers Cliff to for help. What starts as a professional relationship quickly turns personal and Pyotr not only becomes an increasingly important person in Cliff and Kimmi’s lives, but he also helps Cliff finally discover his truest self – someone who prefers to be subservient in a relationship, someone who prefers to give up control.

While seemingly very different, Cliff and Pyotr actually have quite a bit in common in terms of having been the primary providers and caretakers for their respective families. I was worried that things would feel awkward between them due to the significant age difference, but I needn’t have worried. They fit together perfectly and I loved their relationship.

The blurb hints at a very devastating outcome in the book, so be prepared and grab your box of tissues. Red rimmed eyes, red nose, and hurting heart – I wouldn’t wish them away or try to lessen the pain involved in the story. My heart goes out to the author and the author’s twin sibling as I suspect there’s quite a personal connection to either the events portrayed in the book and/or subsequent events that caused devastation in their own lives.

Going back to my initial comment, you’ve heard the term “Don’t judge a book by its cover?” Well, in this case, put your editorial judgment aside and see the diamond in the rough for the beautiful and heart wrenching story it truly is.

This is the second book in the Dominion of Brothers series but it could be read as a stand alone. After reading it you will want to get the first book Becoming His Slave and learn more about these amazing men.

We met Cliff in Becoming His Slave, he was seeking to be one of the Doms. This is his story and it is beautiful, heart breaking and glorious all at the same time. Cliff has had a rough time. His parents left him at the age of 19 to take care of his little sister Kimmi. She was diagnosed with leukemia. This leaves him little time for himself. When he gets a little time for himself he goes to Club Pain a BDSM club. This is where he met Diesel the Patronus who became Kimmi's Guardian Angel and also Cliff's in a way. Diesel knows Cliff is having a hard time and sets up a meeting for him with a person who can help him with the psychological and emotional stress of his situation.

Enter Pyotr Laszkovi a friend of Diesels and a psychologist with the VA. When he agreed to help Cliff he had no idea that Cliff would also be the answer to his desires and dreams. Pyotr has also had to put his life on hold for the sake of keeping his family together. His parents sent him and his eleven brothers and sisters to America to be free of the war happening in their home land of Serbia.

The journey Author Talon p.s. pens for Cliff to find his place is one of discovery, joy, heart break and love. It was a pleasure to learn about Cliff as he learned about himself. The development of Cliff and the other characters of this story and series is a work of art. Although this book isn't the length of the first in the series the pace it takes is perfect. This is one journey you will enjoy taking more than once. When you sit down to read this book you will want to lock the door, take the phone off the hook, get a tall iced beverage and a box of tissue.

Ok at first I had a hard time getting past chapter one. But once I had passed that, I enjoyed the book immensely. The first sex scene was hotter than hell. And towards the end of the book I bawled my eyes out when Kimmi died. All in All I loved it and would recommend it to someone else if they loved M/M BDSM books.

Too bad I can't rate it higher than a five star.

From the very first book Cliff was not my favorite character. He struck me as self obsessed, egotistical, with a serious "The world owes me something" attitude. I literally wanted to shove him off a cliff myself just for his arrogance at thinking he could ever take the role of Dominus.

That was before reading this book. Through the series you get to know a little more about Cliff, but in A Place for Cliff, it really opens your eyes to the life he's been through. The hardships he's had to endure for someone his age, and they are not things anyone his age should be going through. Thanks to Deisel Gentry, Cliff is sent to someone for help. Someone to help him open himself up and realize what it is HE needs, in order to get his life on track and come to any sort of peace with himself. What ends up happening is so much more than even he could ever imagine.

Cliff is left to take care of his ailing sister, Leukemia. Their parents up and leave one day, abandoning them both. At such a young age, Cliff suddenly finds himself the sole provider for them both. Just when they think Kimmie is starting to get better, and things are looking up tragedy strikes.
Enter Pyotr Laszkovi , the amazing psychologist who opens Cliff's world to so many possibilities and most of all....love. He shows Cliff that no matter what, he DOES, deserve to be loved, and he does deserve the best things in life. Pyotr is there for Cliff through everything, including the hardest thing he will ever have to go through in life, saying goodbye. But through it all Pyotr stayed bu his side, loving him, showing him what it was like to be loved, wanted, and giving him a place for himself, so when everything is said and done, Cliff knows that he is always wanted, always loved, and there is always a place for him in Pyotrs heart, and life.

I finished this book with tears streaming down my face just from the emotions and love that radiated from every single page, and with every tap of my table the tears flowed a little more, the laughter rang through the room and my heart swelled with more and more love for this amazing pair. I can honestly say this book touched a personal spot in my heart, having lost a family member to cancer and watching the trials and pain they go through, both patient and family, so for me this book was more than just a story, it was personal, and that made it all the better and all the more wonderful that Talon could take something so heart wrenching, and turn it into something so amazing that it tugged at every heart string.

This book will always be burned into my heart.

2.5 Stars!

Based on the high ratings this book has I was expecting to be blown away by it. What actually happened was me almost giving up on reading it. There are sooooo many grammatical errors....it makes me wonder if there was no one to edit this book. And besides that, the sentence structure was terrible. I understand for most characters in this book english was a secondary language but hell that doesn't mean the author has an excuse for writing this book as if english is secondary for him as well. I got so annoyed seing "." in the middle of a sentence I about blew a gasket :D.
Another think that was not in favor of this book was the way the author told the story.....jumping from Cliff's thoughts to Pyotr's thoughts and mixing them up in the same sentence made it difficult to understand who was feeling or thinking what.....for example the part where Cliff loved watching Pyotr watching his cock go into his hole.....um whose cock in whose whole? I was at a loss. And I didn't feel engaged in this story. It was like hearing someone give instructions about what to put in what hole.
And last but not least I absolutely hate when authors use terms like organ, member, nether hole etc. It's called a cock (or penis if you wish) and an asshole( not a nether hole that just sounds weird).
The only reason this book got 2 stars was because I know it takes time and effort to write a book even a terrible one like this.

A wonderful sequel!!!

"A Place for Cliff" is the second novel in the 'Dominion of Brothers' series and my only complaint is that I wish it were longer.

As with the first novel in the series, Becoming His Slave (The Dominion of Brothers), Talon's characters are so rich and realistic. While the novel focuses primarily on Cliff and Pyotr, characters we met briefly in the first novel, we get to check in on several of the characters from the first novel. The relationship that develops between Cliff and Pyotr (and Cliff's sister Kimmi) is beautifully written and emotionally powerful. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love, and, again, I wished that I could be a part of this wonderful circle of friends.

As I feel should be noted in a review regarding erotica, the sex was HOT!!! The BDSM elements also translate into even hotter sex. I should also note that the sex is M/M, so if you are uncomfortable with homosexual relationships, this book is not for you. If you can enjoy a beautiful love story and the connection between two men, then I thoroughly recommend this book.

I am looking forward to the next installment of the 'Dominion of Brothers' series.

5 Heart Review by Kat

This was one of the hardest to read in the series. We have seen glimpses of Cliff, the young Dom want-to-be, at Club Pain. He tried to come on to Kat until Trenton made sure he understood the “rule” concerning “His little mouse”! He is also the young man Paris “took down” in the Gladiator Games birthday party for Marcus, one of the “Brothers”. Cliff has had a hard life and is barely holding on. I don’t want to give things away but he and Patronus Diesel Gentry both surprised me. We have also had some previous contact with Pyotr Laszkovi, and I am a huge fan of his, especially after this book. This is the first of the three “Laszkovi Brothers” books (so far at least but hope for more) as I refer to them, and the stories of his family that Pyotr raised. Cliff and Pyotr’s story is both amazing and heart-wrenching. If you can make it out without your face wet with tears, then you are much stronger than me.

I disliked the somewhat disjointed writing that was accompanied by the misspelled or just wrong words, endearments and facts. Once the war was mentioned I was gone.

I enjoyed the story and the characters were hot, but the "Dominus" and "Patronus" kind of threw me since, supposedly this is set in New York. I also found it a little confusing at first.

I liked the characters, but didn't feel as engaged as I could have been, the writing was more telling me what happened then actually getting me involved.

I also found the spelling and grammar errors very annoying. I was beginning to wonder if the writer's first language was not English.

Enjoyable story and characters despite the distractions.

The story is as much about family love as it is about romantic love and even those readers that aren’t keen on BDSM may enjoy this one. Despite the noticeable editing issues the writing is beautiful. The author has a rather unique style I found pleasing to read. A Place For Cliff is the first book I’ve read by this author but I’ll be keeping an eye out for others.
