Liam Yoder has been leading a double life ever since his dad was killed in a buggy accident.
Will a chance encounter with his mother cause him to rethink his decision to leave the Amish community behind? What about Lucy, the bakery owner he left behind when they were teenagers? Will she be able to convince Liam to change his mind?
This is a sweet Amish Christian romance which left me filled with hope and a huge smile on my face and in my heart! Samantha Bayarr never fails to tug at my heartstrings with her stories. I found this to be a beautiful story of hope and forgiveness. Love never fails and I definitely felt that way as I read. There are so many families today who need reconciliation and forgiveness within their relationships, and this story offers a chance to those families. It shows that it can be achieved. Read this beautiful story of the quilter's son. Precious, precious story!
The Quilter's Son is a wonderful story of love lost, life trials, and overcoming obstacles. The characters are well developed, and the story moves along smoothly with accurate description of Amish detail. I had a hard time putting the book down. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about this Amish family, and the events that changed their lives and the lives of those close to them. I've read most of this author's books, and have never been disappointed. She clearly has an excellent knowledge of her subject matter, and creates an interesting plot with believable and lovable characters.
Headstrong, Liam forsakes his Amish life for the ways of the "English" after his father dies. His beloved Lucy refuses to join him in leaving the Amish Community and in a moment of haste, he leaves Lucy, his mother and twin sister and strikes out on his own.
Seven years later he is forced to face his rebellious and selfish ways and his life takes a roller coaster ride.
As with most of Ms Bayarr's books, the plot was fairly predictable. None-the-less, it was a quick read, enjoyable and a good clean romance. The plot clearly lends itself to a sequel.
Sweet Amish romance. Good story line. I read it in 2 days as I wanted to read it through and get to the end. I plan to begin the second in this 4 book series today!
Liam has secretly attended school outside of the Amish community, to allow him a chance to set up his own company. Just before Liam is due to graduate his father is killed in a buggy accident and Liam is feeling guilty as it should have been him doing that buggy ride, or at least been with his father.
To atone for his guilt he escapes the family home soon after graduating and starts his life as an Englisher, leaving his sweetheart Lucy behind. Seven years later his mother's scheming brings them all back together when she hires Liam's company to refurbish her recently purchased dilapidated quilt shop.
This was a quick read, with sweet characters, providing insight into some parts of Amish life and a happy ever after.
I have read all 4 books in this series and I have to say I am very disappointed. I love Samantha Bayarr and her book Jacobs Daughter was the first book and serious that got me hooked on Amish books. I've struggled with finding good clean Christian books to read but I found that in the Amish books. This series was a huge let down. When tragedy struck instead of letting their faith draw them closer to God and their Amish faith they let their grief rip them apart and distance themselves. I thought by the end they would have came back together and have stronger faith but they remained set apart. With each book in this series getting progressively worse and by book 4 there was rarely mention of God, faith or family but rather replaced with teenage hormones and a few love affairs that end with a few unwed mothers. If I wanted books like that I wouldn't be reading Amish/Christian books. I cannot express how disappointed I am in this series.
I enjoyed the Quilters Son, I had read it before but enjoyed reading it again. I had also read Wild Flower before, I remember how the second story in the series goes and so I will not be reading it, even though I enjoyed the first, I didn't enjoy the fact that the author choose to kill off one of the main characters.
There is no depth to the stories. There is no character development, and the same things get said repeatedly. This series could have been so good if the characters and the story were really expounded on and developed.
I like the first book. It was ok. But the Bonus book was awful! More than childish, unsettling even. Just had to force myself to finish it. Absolutely not going to continue with the series.
This is an endearing story of a young Amish man who left the Community after his Daed's death. It also tells about the family and girlfriend he left behind.
The Quilter's Son is the first book written by Samantha Jillian Bayarr in her The Quilter's Son series. This is a heartwarming story centering around the reunion of a family after seven years apart.
Nellie wanted her son back so she purchased a shop that was in dire need of repairs so she sets out to hire her Englisher son to make the repairs. When things start moving forward her son realizes this new job was with his mother and sister. Is Liam ready to reunite with the family he left behind? Better yet is he ready to reunite with the live of his life, Lucy. With so many emotions to deal with he stays away from the shop as much as possible but he knows within a few short days everything will reveal itself. Follow this amazing journey and see what happens.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this amazing book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable review at anytime. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that i can highly recommend to all those who love the Amish genre.
Congratulations to to Samantha Jillian Bayarr for writing another fantastic book for her readers to enjoy! I will be anticipating more wonderful books from her in the future.
Ms. Bayarr is an excellent storyteller of the Amish and combining it with one or more characters contemplating the Englischer ways. Much of the Amish lifestyle is a mystery to most in the U.S. until the recent reality shows reflecting the young Amish people participating in Rumsphringa. (Spelling?)
Most young people go back to the Amish Community but during their Englischer time, they party, get jobs, get their GED's, go to college, get cell phones, driver's licenses, etc. It's a different way of life, most get homesick and go back to the Community. In this story, the hero, Liam is gone for seven years. The heroine, Lucy, remains single. They both own their own businesses, in their own way. Liam's mother brings the Yoder familye together, along with Lucy and Liam by hiring her son's construction business to do renovations for her new Quilt Shop. Hence, the series name. There are three other books to this series, which I am reading next. I'm thinking it's about Liam's twin sister and his best friend! Can't wait... I will be writing a review after each book, so stay tuned!
BACK OF THE BOOK BLURB (Taken from GoodReads) Liam Yoder has been leading a double life ever since his dad was killed in a buggy accident.
Will a chance encounter with his mother cause him to rethink his decision to leave the Amish community behind? What about Lucy, the bakery owner he left behind when they were teenagers? Will she be able to convince Liam to change his mind?
Find out in this tale of bittersweet love...
MY REVIEW This was a good short story by Samantha, A story of love and fear, fear of seeing his family and true love again but a need to see them. A story of guilt for leaving them behind the way he did and then the chance citing and the fear that they have moved on without him and have no desire to have anything to do with him.
I recommend this as a quick, enjoyable read, and yea, there are three more books! I'm already reading the second one!
I like this story because it has the theme of *Second Chances*. I did not enjoy it as much as some of her other books.
His convenient loss of memory allows him to go back in time, to before he left the community and hurt his family. He rebuilds his relationships with his mom, his sister, and his sweetheart. Forgiveness is generous as his memory is restored. His "English" company rebuilts his mother's quilt shop. His sister finds hope, friendship, and possibly future love with his foreman and best friend from childhood.
I liked the ending. I like that the Amish community joined with his construction crew to build his new home.
Everyone, but especially Lucy, spends Too much time in worry about his feelings "when his memory returns ".
I've read a few other Amish stories and have to confess this one left me wanting more. there was no weight given the characters. they were lost in a certain time and no more flesh was put on. the story leaves more questions unanswered.
I can understand why this book sells for so little. there is nothing there. you are given partial characters and story. this book could have explored so much more in the characters and story.
This was so much more than *just* a Amish love story. it was a book about forgiveness, letting go of things, and sharing, sharing your thoughts, ideas, sharing your true deep down feelings. I cannot wait to begin the next book in this wonderful series
Samantha makes the young people in this story seem so real. It must be hard for an Amish parent to give up their children to the english ways. But most of them do come back to their family ties.
