The old house at the end of the haunted street seems emptier with the people missing and the lives lost. Sam thinks he has Hanna all to himself now but The Roses have other plans.
Ari and Aimee struggle to cope with the changes they've suffered through, the newest one being Giselle. She is thrust into the role of Vampire Royalty and with it come certain obligations and limitations.
None of them really have much time to feel sorry for themselves and the deaths of their loved ones. An ancient bloodline, tracing as far back as Adam and Lillith, is discovered with an heir to the power living closer than they thought.
Enter the young and confused Ophelia, who has no idea of the power she has or the role she plays in it all.
Ophelia is the 17 year old we meet at the start of the book. Everything changes when she uses the Ouija Board. She starts to hear what people are thinking, she can freeze people. She has 6 ghosts that are identical to her that follow her around. Hanna's loves Sam who is part Siren, part Fallen Angel. Sam convinces Ophelia to come back with him to Lydia's so she'll be safe.
When they get to Lydia's. Ophelia finds out that she's a witch. She is the witch of all witches the one who would lead the witches. Ophelia begins learning about her prophecy while Sam and Lucas start looking for Aleks father. Sam gets a message from Hanna telling him she's going to meet her family. He begins to all worry because he understands how Sirens live their lives.
Ophelia meets Oliver. Oliver is Ophelia fathers best friend. Mind you her father is evil. Ophelia father is a evil bad guy who has her twin brother and mother captured and wants her dead. Oliver says he loves Ophelia and has loved her for her entire life. Now Ophelia and the other Roses have to figure out if he is setting them all up to die or if he really does love her and want the best for her.
Once everyone learns what Sam did they go crazy. Ophelia has no idea how her powers work. Sam, Oliver, Hanna and Ophelia work together to try to figure out how to reverse it without using dark magic.
Giselle finds out that she is Queen Vampire. Giselle has only been a vampire more then a week when she gets this information which is sort of crazy. It gets intense seeing how Giselle handles becoming Queen and all the responsibilities and consequences that come after it.
Ophelia's father also has Aimee captured. Oliver convinces everyone that he can be trusted and help then come up with a plan to get Aimee's sister back. The plan includes killing Ophelia father and brother before they kill her.
This was a very face paced read and I really enjoyed the story. I give it 4 stars and recommend this book to those who like books about super natural characters.
DNF. I cant. I tried so hard but the dialogue was just so hard to listen to. Sisters calling each other “homie”. And the speed at which the MC goes through guys gave me whiplash. Just not for me.
EPPS, this book held so many twists and turns I hardly know where to begin. OH wait I know, Sam and Hanna, oh my wow, rip my heart out and for good measure stomp on it. Tara Brown really knows how to gut you. I had myself a right and proper tissy over their breakup (though that hardly describes it) I felt the knife dig into my heart as it dug into Sam's.
Ophelia, our wonderful new character is a witch. I love how the book opens. I seriously did not expect for everything that changed was because of her wishing it. Talk about powerful, can I have that power? New to the whole scene just like many others before her O has a tough time and makes so many wrong choices.
The whole concept had me giddy. I was so intrigued by the whole twin thing. I was honestly expecting him to be this total bad guy and take the power from the sisters and make her watch or something. So when Tristan was finally (I say finally because Brown likes to use tricks) introduced I had a jaw dropping moment before I lost it and giggled uncontrollably. I loved him. That left the dad to be the nasty villian. He worked the role well.
Oliver, what can I say about him. . . he makes me question him at every turn, yet when he has O in his arms all I can do is 'awww' at them. He is the bad guy and works for her dad - so many lies fall from his lips but in the end he may have a reason. Was it a good enough one?
Complications form when Sam's attractions fall on O after she performed a ceremony that left him empty hearted. His sireny nature only lets her fight it so much.
The biggest plot twist I have read in a long time falls to this book. If I could award Tara Brown an award, I think I would. I can't even say much about it without giving it away but I will say this: "Sometimes all you need is a little push."

There is nothing to say that can convey the absolute awesomeness of this book. It made me laugh, get frustrated and cry - and I want nothing more than to be a rose. I now can't wait to read Death. These books are ones that will stay with me and that I can enjoy over and over again
This was the biggest piece of trash I have read. There are so many problems with it. Plot? Hard to follow. Characters? Basically the same people on repeat. Setting? Confusing. Transitions? Horrible. I am not sure if there is a redeeming quality in this entire book. I’m just going to go ahead and bullet point a few additional things:
- I know this is a novel for young adults but as far as high school is concerned. NO one speaks like that. “Slut” every few minutes in the first chapter talking about how everyone is a whore? AND THEN the (apparent) protagonist is looking to have sex with everyone throughout the entire book?
- almost every male character is big and strong and smells good or like sex? Why would a virgin 17 year old know what sex smells like? Is she creeping in her parents room?
- SHE’S 17! I felt gross reading about these (25 in body but 300 in experience) guys wanting to have sex with her. Not to mention some scenes are boarder-line rapey and she…finds that hot? Talk about toxic.
- Why do the female characters all seem vapid and horny? While the males seem a step away from rapists.
- The book ALMOST hit every stereotype. (Females = weak and dependent on men. Gay guys = “super gay”. Men = big, strong and horny with macisimo/rapey bs. Black woman = mammy sounding even though it’s been hundreds of years since slavery. Matriarch = articulate woman who (despite the written proclamation) seems to still have a dominant relationship over the black woman.)
I simply can’t believe this book has such a high score. I’m absolutely baffled.

Witch: A Dark Paranormal Romance (The Roses Book 4)
Book is absolutely awesome 😎…over the top with so many plot twists and the series is still coming together. I know there is so much great more stuff on the way. Well, I'm off to read the next in series.
Oh good Lord, much better. Aleksander is back!!!! And they all remember. I do miss Sam, but he was a complete idiot. He didn't even give Hanna a chance to explain or apologize. Didn't make sense. Hopefully there won't be too much pushing in future books. Will see.

3.5 Stars A little better than the first 3 books, but I think I'm done. These books are written for teenagers except for the steamy parts. I just can't connect to these characters enough to care how this ends up.
"I will love you as long as I live. My heart will belong to you forever. Even when a thousand years has passed and you don't remember me, every heart beat will be for you"
WOW!!! Where do I begin? Witch was intense from page 1 until the very last page. We start with the prologue. Where Lillith is giving birth. When the green eyed witch announces it's a girl, she's told to get rid of it! That is until she realizes she's having TWINS!!!
First we meet 17yr old Ophelia. Everything changes when her sister and her friends make her use the Ouija Board. Now she hears what people are thinking, she can freeze people. Oh... And there are 6 ghosts that are identical to her that are following her around. She then meets Sam. We met him in the last book. Remember him? Hanna's love. Sam is 1/2 Siren, 1/2 Fallen Angel. He convinces Ophelia also known as "O" to come back with him to Lydia's so she'll be safe.
Now they get to Lydia's and O learns she's a witch. But, not just a witch but THE witch of all witches!! While she is learning about her prophecy Sam and Lucas are looking for Aleks father. Sam gets a message from Hanna telling him she's going to meet her family. Now, he's all worried because he knows how Sirens live their lives.
Ophelia meets Oliver. Oliver is O's fathers best friend. Mind you her father is evil. He has O's twin brother and mother captured and wants her dead. Oliver says he loves O and has loved her for her entire life. Now Ophelia and the other Roses have to figure out if he is setting them all up to die or if he really does love her and want the best for her.
Sam and Hanna just can't seem to catch a break either. After they get into a fight Sam uses his Siren powers on O to get her to use her powers on breaking his match with Hanna. Once everyone learns what Sam did they go crazy. ESP, since O has no idea how her powers work. And, once Sam's feelings are turned off it can drive someone crazy. Now Sam, Oliver, Hanna and Ophelia need to figure out how to reverse it without going to the dark magic.
Speaking of dark magic. Giselle is now Queen Vampire!!! That was pretty crazy/funny because she hasn't been a vampire more then a week. It was def intense reading how Giselle handles becoming Queen and all the consequences that come after it.
Now, they're still trying to get Aimee's sister back. Which turns out that O's father has them. Oliver has convinced the Roses that he can be trusted and they come up with a plan to get Aimee's sister. And kill O's dad and brother before they kill her.
This book was so intense from start to finish. I loved Sam and Hanna from Hyde. It was crazy because no matter how much they love each other they can't seem to catch a break. Just like Oliver and O. Everytime O puts her trust into Oliver she seems to get knocked back down. But, you can really see the love he has for her. It's just a matter of time before who and when he'll betray someone. This book was full of action from beginning to end. I really do love all of the characters. I've also learned to not get to attached to characters. ESP, when Ari is around. I'm super excited to read the final book Death and see how the last battle is won!!
In this book we meet Olphelia (I always liked that name Ol-phelia haha) shit really hits the fan in this book, after reading it I'm still processing the whole book. Everyone is acting weird since Aleks died, and well it's just weird you'd think it was Jesus who died. Blake has apparently turned into a dick and Aimee's sister is still with him. It really does sadden me that Blake turned into this crazed person he was like a nice boy in book one. Ugh Hanna pissed me off ROYALLY in this book like really how can she treat Sam like garbage!! "Good I don't to love you anyway. It feels forced like I have no choice in who I love. I wish I never loved you. Jesus Christ just turn around and talk to me like a real man. You're acting like a bitch." So weird the Aleks and Marcus are alive again (I mean YAY!) but it's still weird. Giselle is no longer a vampire, (at this point I'm truly confused as to what the hell happened) SAM DIED!!!!!!!!!!! like wholly shit right! Blake isn't a dick anymore as well, and Alise is back to her "I'm hot, outspoken self." FINALLY I jumped for joy when Aleks and Aimee get together I wanted this from book one (no I'm not just talking about the sex although that was nice too I'm talking about them being together together as in forever) and I really LOVE their banter: She grinned and took a step back, "Where are we?" He sighed impatiently, "I told you my place." "Country?" "Italy." "No shit?" "None." Let's not talk about the cliffhanger as I'm still upset over if but I think this one is my favorite book out of the series!

Tara has made a life long fan with this one! Bringing Ophelia into the mix was genius. Making the sheriff a bad guy was awesome. Ophelia casting spells or using her magic without special words or an actual spell is great. For me, it made it more realistic that witches exist. When O finds out that Jake has been under a love spell that she didn't know she cast; that was great. It was all just wishing. I really loved the part where O meets Giselle for the first time. I was laughing so hard. When Giselle's fangs pop out and she says "They're like a dude'th thingy. They jutht pop up randomly", I lost it. I could imagine a newborn vampire with a lispe. It's awesome! Making Giselle Queen of the Vampires...epic! I was a little sad though to see Marcus go but hey...the story must go on =) Breaking up Sam and Hanna was a little brutal for me. They fit perfectly...her ying to his yang. But I understand why. It was a necessary break-up to push the readers along. I'm glad you did it =) Having Ophelia feel for both Sam and Oliver was nice. Sam's sireny goodness and Oliver's dark magic juju would do that to me too. It's just a shame what happens to Sam and Oliver has to be a dick. For a while, I thought that Blake was her twin. He fit the role...it seemed plausible. Then I was introduced to Tristan. He sounds so cute and girly =) BUT the part I LOVED most...was when Ari changed the world. I won't say anything else because I've said too much already. I had the biggest Koolaid smile then it went away. BUT... I think I like the new world much better. Tara...you are an amazing writer! Please don't ever change! Now if I can't wait for book 5, Death to come out!

What can I say.. I have always been a big fan of Tara's writing and the 4th installment of The Devil's Roses didn't disappoint.. it was EPIC! I laughed, and cried.. but they were definitely tears of joy. (Don't wanna spoil it and tell you, but I was so happy at one part in this book I was jumping up and down while reading.)
I laugh at myself, though when writing a review for this series, because there's always so much that's going on.. there's never a dull moment. So I am going to make this review as short and sweet as possible.
Ophelia's POV: Ophelia is a new character to this series. She is a witch, though didn't really know it until one day she explodes the glass out of her classroom windows. If she thought that was strange, imagine Lucas (sexy werewolf) and Sam (Half siren/half fallen angel) arrive at her doorstep to take her away to safety... to the Roses. Then if things couldn't get any worse, she is told about a prophecy that she will have to kill her father and brother in order to restore the earth's safety.
Sam's POV: He finally has his mate Hannah, they were bound to each other early on in life. But when Hannah was sent to find out more about her heritage, being a half-siren as well. Sam finds her in a precarious position and they have it out. Sam decided to undo the bond he had with Hannah, leaving him emotionless.. empty.
All of the Roses have to work together to fix Sam and try to save the world!
This book started off so well, but it did a HUGE nosedive. I couldn’t believe how bad this book got towards the middle and end. The author should have just stopped after book two. Book three was pushing it!
This book starts off with Ophelia. She is a witch but she obviously didn’t figure it out until she went to Lydia’s. And that’s how all the other books started as well. Aimee needed to find her sister because Blake was keeping her hostage and used as a blood slave. Ophelia’s sister got kidnapped too. Um… Sam and Hanna’s connection gets broken and then Hannah goes back to Marcus because he comes back to life after a ‘Push’ from Ari. But then Sam is dead. But Lucas and Aleks are alive again….. What. The. Hell! I honestly don’t even know what else to say about this story. It was soooooooooooooooooo confusing. Noticed all the o’s. I know how to read, and I know how to follow a plot. This book was a train wreck. The writing style became so messy that parts of the book made no sense. The author kept changing the plot so many times that I just couldn’t keep up anymore. These books need some MAJOR editing. I finished this book as quick as I could, but since I already PURCHASED… yes I wrote Purchased… the last one, I migt as well read it. It was only $1, but still.
I thought that the ending to book 3 was a shocker, I was wrong, This was the most shocking book I've read this year.
In “Witch” we meet Ophelia, she’s a normal girl (oh so she thinks) living in a normal world (Oh hell no) and living a normal life…well that’s about to change. Weird things start to happen when Ophelia’s around, wolves chasing her, people freezing, your average goings on.
She has been in “Love” with her high school beau Jake since forever and he starts to notice her all of a sudden….(Alarm bells ringing yet O?)
Ophelia learns that the family she lives with, isn't her real family (not much of a shocker) and in fact she’s something extremely powerful and her history dates back to the Adam, Lillith & Eve days.
I can’t believe Alek’s and Ben died in “Hyde”, like what the hell!!! (Sorry for the extra exclamation marks, but they totally deserve to be there)
How are we supposed to get over a trauma like that!
This is probably one of the saddest books in this series to be fair, I thought Hyde was bad for making me shed tears, but oh no Tara decides to whack an even bigger shocker in this book and it just gets worse for the Devils Roses.
I wonder what will happen in the 5th and final book “Death”.
Will the Devil’s Roses get the outcome they deserve?
Meet Ophelia. The newest character you will ride along with in the Devil's Roses series, along with Aimee, Ari, Hanna, and the entire crew that by now, you have grown to love (and still hate a little, sometimes.)
In this book, more of the main story line is revealed, and although we are still learning about the newest Rose, we are also inundated with deaths and non-deaths, past and presents jumping ship and starting over, futures that look bleak one second and hopeful the next, and all kinds of love and hate and trust issues, all related to one ancient story that drives all of these characters. It will drive you, too.
In my previous reviews on this series, I warned you not to get attached to anyone just yet. See why? But then it's okay again. And then it's not again. That's what I mean.
By the end of this book, you will have gone crazy right along with the characters, and you'll *need* to have closure. Luckily for you, the world doesn't depend on your closure, but it depends on the Devil's Roses, and what they learn in this book.
In the fourth book of the Devil's Roses series you are introduced to 17 year old Ophelia. After letting her younger sister Abby talk her into going to a party Ophelia starts to have weird things happen to her. The first of which happens at the party when the kids are playing with a Ouija board.
As well all know people can be cruel. The girls from the party are no exception. Ophelia here "the plastics" talking about her. She hears the way they are making fun of her. The only problem is they aren't speaking out loud. In a state of rage over what is being said and confusion from not knowing what is going on Ophelia makes something happen that everybody suspects was her, but they cannot prove it at all.
Throughout the story you learn of who she is and what she is capible of. She has an emensly important role in the world and needs to be protected at all costs. She finds refuge with the Roses as they prepare for the war that is to come.
This story like the others will completely draw you in. A definite must read and a great follow up to Hyde.
Tara Brown is sooooo good! I have thoroughly enjoyed this series up to this point! Can't wait the the next book. She has kept the original character and kept them true while at the same time added so many others you would think it would get confusing but she does a great job of keeping everything lined out and straight. One thing Brown does well is character development. This book had me fighting mad, laughing, and suffering right along with the characters! Any book that can draw out emotion like these do is phenomenal. The romances/relationships in this book/series are just...love, breaking up, death, bonding, unbonding, steamy...they keep the emotions roiling! Definitely recommended. The books need to be read in order--Cursed-Bane-Hyde-Witch.
Tara Brown if you are reading this you seriously need to get an editor. The grammatical and spelling errors seriously take away from your books. I would be happy to proofread for you! I gave this book 5 stars because it deserved it but in all honesty with the lack of editing it should be knocked down to 3 or 4 stars.
These books are amazing! I can't express enough how fantastic these books are i have read a lot of good books recently but the devils roses books blow them all out of the water. I can confidently say i am a Tara Brown addict and will be reading more of here writing. So far with this series i have laughed and cried these books take you along with your favorite roses always bring new one as well as tearing old ones away. New loves and old one blossom and i often find myself rooting for certain characters to fall in or out of love. The trouble this supernatural group gets into can be funny or gory and the politics of the group can create conflicts adding to the crazy of there lives. As soon as i meet a new character i feel my heart hurt as i think of what they have been taken from and what there lives will become there struggles to understand the hidden world of the roses and dark ones always create an interesting read. I love theses books and can wait to read more.
another great read, this series NEEDS to be turned into movies! Seriously, i love how there are so many characters and so many twists and turns. The devil's roses are like the x-men on stereoids! I was soooo happy with the way everything in this book went, we sacrificed a few and we gained a few. I am looking forward to starting Death but, I don't want any of the roses to die so i'm having a mini heart attack at the title!! Tara Brown is an awesome author, people are complaining about grammar and poor editing, I think if you're looking that closely at the punctuation then u are clearly not even trying to enjoy the bookas you should. This is a great read, but if u dont lend a little of ur own imagination to it, then whats the point?
So Ophelia is the daughter of Lilith who is coming into her powers on her 18th birthday but as with everything there is a catch when she does the whole world might be in danger.
This starts where the previous book left off. Ari and Aimee are still causing trouble with their gifts and not in regular ways. As it gets closer to the end we see what desperation does to people.
Lilith is the end to all that is good to mankind because of what Adam has done to her however no one knows that because they keep fighting amongst themself.
Overall the anticipation kills me and I cannot wait until the next book which is the end.
Another Great book!! Im glad that in this book we got to see a bit of Annabelle and Lydia's story. How truely heartbreaking it is. Than we come across Giselle again. She is so hyper!! Ophelia is a witch that we meet in this one and she winds up not winning the fabor of Annabelle. I never thought that I would see Annabelle be mean to a person. How about O's brother and Olivers son Phillip!! How fun those 2 are. There is so much that happened in this book that it would be a 3 page review if I talked about everything that I loved about this one...
Amazed again how author Tara Brown can keep the suprises coming over and over. Enter character Ophelia in this installment of the Devil's Roses series and some things get so screwed up and others get fixed. It's hard not to be attached to these lives and the things that everyone goes through. Every persons gift does something different and sometimes bad things happen. But can you changed them and alter something that has already happened? Handsome angels, seductive Sirens, tough shifters and death dealers all get caught up in this whirlwind of a story. Awesome !
This was a brilliant book in the series of the Roses. The series just gets better and better as each book is read. I am really going to miss this series when it finishes as I have grown very attached to the characters - even the dark ones like Marcus. My favourite character so far has to be Aimee and the love triangle she has going on between Shane and Aleks - you must read this series if you are interested in the supernatural - it is extremely gripping, though sometimes you have to read a page a second time as it starts to get confusing with changing timelines.
Ophelia is a normal girl, trying to get through the last months of school and growing up....or so she thinks. How was she to know she is a witch or THE witch in fact. Lydia takes her in and protects her from her father who has been taken by the darkness and plots to kill Ophelia for her power. I liked this book I had a great laugh with it and I was really happy when Aleks and Marcus came back love them!
This book made me soooooo happy!!!!!!! If you have read the first 3 books I'm sure some of you are really sad....Well I'll be the first to tell you, it gets better!! This book has some major twist and turns in it. This has to be my favorite book out of this series so far. I'm very happy to be starting the last book Death. A little sad to. I feel like The Rose's are part of my family! It will be sad to let them go. This is a must read series!!!
