If you have not had the pleasure of trying on a corset simply for the pleasure of feeling sexy, it is an indulgence you must try. I still remember the first time I felt that snug embrace and how sexy it made me feel. It is that very feeling that I was reminded of the moment I began reading “Text Appeal” by Lexi Ryan. Riley Carter, is a lingerie addict who has a passion for flirty fantasies that make her feel sexy.

On a first name basis with the sales clerks at Frederick’s of Hollywood, she does her best to keep her addiction in check but simply can’t resist when she sees a sale sign in the window. Hoping she goes unnoticed, Riley finds herself in a predicament when she is ogling the latest arrival and is caught by none other than Charlie “The Devil” Singleton. A champion poker player, well known womanizer, drop dead gorgeous, and her roommate’s brother, Charlie is hard to resist.

Riley is a “good girl”. Heiress to her father’s multimillion dollar company Carter Enterprises, she doesnot act the part like the many socialites that appear in the gossip rags. Determined to succeed as a business woman without her father’s money, she does her best to prove she can run her father’s hotel empire and stay out of trouble. It isn’t until she has an encounter with “The Devil” that her “ING” (inner naughty girl) decides to come out and play. Knowing her current boyfriend Chaz (aka Charles Spencer) wouldn’t approve of her lingerie fetish and naughty thoughts, she does her best to keep her desires to herself. It isn’t until her roommate Lacey suggests that Riley spice things up with a few suggestive texts, that things get interesting. After some confusion with who she was actually texting, Riley realizes that she may have been falling for the wrong man. Perhaps the best thing for this good girl is to give in to the bad boy to lure her to her darkest desires.

I love this story and was literally grinning from ear to ear from start to finish. Lexi Ryan brings back the feeling of being that girl that falls in love with the boy that she is forbidden to see. That excitement of sneaking around and the possibility of getting caught had me turning the pages so fast I thought my fingers would bleed. Charlie Singleton is a sexy and confident, but shows his vulnerable side when he learns that some of his past discretions are catching up to him. Determined not to make the same mistakes his father made, he proves to be the better man and take ownership of his future. It is that vulnerability hiding underneath his confidence that had me falling head over heels in love.

I adore Riley Carter. She too has a past that haunts her and is determined not to repeat the mistakes of her mother. Torn between the life she wants, and the life her father wants for her, she is stuck in a vanilla life with a womanizing jerk that is using her to get to her daddy’s money. It isn’t until she begins texting or should I say “sexting” with Charlie, that she realizes perhaps her life is not what she wants it to be. Although some scandalous events take place, and Riley does indeed become the tabloid favorite, Charlie helps Riley overcome her fears and see the exciting side of life. She finally begins to live, and realize that perhaps her inner naughty girl is not something to be ashamed of. When rumors of her affair lead to trust issues and fears of being used, Riley must determine which Charlie is being truthful about his actions and which one is simply using her to broaden their opportunities.

With some elevator rides that will make you blush, and a kink for lingerie that will have you running for the closest corset, “Text Appeal” will have you smiling and blushing from beginning to end.

I read an excerpt for this book last year and if I remember correctly it was at the end of Just One Night (Decadence Creek, #1) by Lexi Ryan. I did enjoy reading this book, in fact I read it in one sitting. The Characters that are introduced seem to all fit well, hot and steamy scenes between Riley and Charlie, and it’s even a little funny at times.

So we have Riley, father’s golden girl. Sadly she lives her life to please her father, dates Chaz; someone she knows her father will approve of. Works hard at her father’s company, though he would rather she didn’t work at all. But Riley is determined to show him that she can be strong, independent and deserves the GM position. Then we have Riley’s dance class, ah her outlet. This is how Riley rebels against her father, although its minor. She knows her father doesn’t want her to dance because of what happened to her mother.

Enter Charlie ‘The Devil’. The sexy bad boy who knows how to play woman just as good as he plays cards, but of course he’s getting tired of it and what does he want? Riley. And then there’s Lacey, who happens to be Riley’s roommate and Charlie’s sister. Oh, too good!

Although I did enjoy reading this book, there was something that bothered me. Maybe it’s JUST ME but I found that Lexi Ryan had too much going on at once. Let me list what seemed like important events taken place throughout the book:

Spoiler below!!

I’m hoping that someone else who has read the book comes across my review so we can share thoughts and I can find out if i’m the only one that was annoyed with everything happening. I would indeed recommend this book for anyone to read though!

Bad Beat.

Flop.

Pocket Rockets.

River.

If you know what all these words have in common, you get a gold star! One of them I had to look up. (Yeah, yeah, I know this is my column but I'm a romance author. Pocket Rockets takes on a whole new meaning when you write romance.) For those of you who are scratching your heads, I'll fill you in on the secret: the common theme here is poker. Anyone who's been to Vegas and hung out at the tables has likely heard these words. But if you're the type of person who doesn't "get" the hype of poker, doesn't think it's interesting or even particularly sexy, then I have a book for you. After reading Text Appeal by Lexi Ryan, you'll quickly change your mind.

Riley Carter is the daughter of a wealthy hotelier who works for her father and has her sights set on being his GM when he retires. A reckless stint as a teen that left their relationship tattered convinced her that going the route of the good girl was safer and more respectable. So instead of pursuing her dream of being a dancer, she heads to her office everyday, wears her conservative suit and heels, even dates her father's right-hand man. A man she's not overly attracted to but who has garnered her father's approval, and who she believes is stable and good for her. However, Riley has a secret obsession: sexy lingerie. If she can't be the bad girl on the outside, she'll be that girl on the inside. The problem? Her boyfriend doesn't know about the obsession. Or the fact her roommate's brother -- professional poker player Charlie "the Devil" Singleton -- ran into her in the mall and bought her the revealing corset she'd been trying desperately to talk herself out of.

Charlie's in Vegas for a poker tournament -- likely the most important of his life. He's always been attracted to Riley, and over the years they've had a flirtatious, albeit chaste, relationship, but the timing for more was never right. And now she's dating some loser who works for her father. But when he runs into her in the mall and sees her eyeing the suggestive lingerie, the chemistry that's always been between them bubbles to the surface. He takes a gamble and offers to buy it for her. She refuses and confesses she won't wear it. He can tell she still wants it, though, and knowing her stuffy boyfriend won't be the recipient of his highly inappropriate gift only cements his decision. Even with his career teetering on the edge and his personal life in shambles, this might be the time. Riley's the only person who's every liked him just for him. Not for his money or fame or status. And now, he realizes, is the best chance he's ever had to go all in.

The next day, Charlie texts Riley, confessing that he can't stop thinking about her. Riley, not knowing the contact list in her phone is messed up, thinks she's talking to her boyfriend. Truth is, she's been thinking a lot too -- but not about her boyfriend, like she should be. She's been thinking about Charlie, how good he looked the day before and how much she's always wanted something more with him. Feeling guilty over that fact -- and knowing it'll just get her into trouble she doesn't need -- she plays along with her "boyfriend's" texts, surprised he's being so open. Even though she's contemplated breaking up with him, she knows it will ultimately upset her father, so she's willing to give him one more chance. Her body might crave Charlie, but deep down she still hopes to be that good girl her father wants. And she knows she'll never be that with some professional poker player who lives life with no rules.

What results is a series of steamy texts that encourage Charlie and leave Riley even more confused. Every time she gets a sexy message, she imagines it's from Charlie, then berates herself for that thinking. Not until the message finally reads "Come Over" and she goes to her boyfriend's apartment, catching him with another woman, does Riley finally realize the man she's been dating isn't the one she's been sharing sultry texts with. Free of her ties and with nothing to lose, Riley finally has the chance to be the bad girl with Charlie she's always wanted to be. The question remains though: Where will it go? And what will happen when her father finds out she's seeing a gambler? She's not just putting her heart on the line by jumping into Charlie's bed, she's risking her reputation and, quite possibly, her future.

I'm not usually a fan of misunderstanding plots. More often than not, if the author would just let the characters talk things out, their problems would be quickly resolved. But Text Appeal had several layers, and though the text mix-up added to the conflict between the hero and heroine, it wasn't the root of that conflict. Riley and Charlie had bigger issues to contend with than a simple contact list snafu. Real life is messy, and what I liked most about this book is that the author didn't try to wrap everything up with some contrived and easy fix. Both characters were able to grow because of their relationship, which then filtered out to all those other issues in their lives that were keeping them stuck in the same place. Change is scary, but Riley and Charlie were both willing to make major changes in their lives because of what they'd learned from each other. At the end of the book I could easily see them living that Happily Ever After we all hope for in a good romance.

Did I learn a bunch of poker lingo in this book? No. But I did get to peek into the life of a professional poker player, and I will admit that it did make me want to take a trip to Vegas. Text Appeal is smart, sexy, filled with great writing and memorable dialogue, and features characters you won't easily forget. If you like poker -- even if you don't particularly like poker -- I highly suggest you pick up a copy of this book.

And for those of you still wondering what Pocket Rockets are...

Well...you'll just have to look that up.

This was definitely an adult romance read with fairly explicit sex scenes and lots of surprises for the characters involved. I enjoyed this book far more than I expected to. It was fresh and interesting with characters very real to life, each of whom had pre-conceived ideas about who they were dealing with.

Riley had grown up wanting to please her father and gain his approval, overlooking what she may have wanted or needed for herself. She appeared very straight laced and "perfect". That in turn caused her boyfriend of several years to perceive her differently than as the "tigress" within. Thus their love life lacked the luster that each of them needed to make it work. Of course, Chaz was a jerk, being drawn to Riley's obvious forthcoming inheritance a little too keenly. Then there was Charlie the "devil" Singleton who had been a womanizer from the get go, but had never experienced real love. Riley did not perceive him as husband material, but as a way to have sex and fun...a good time Charlie, BUT she didn't consider the real Charlie. (I couldn't help but picture Charlie Sheen when I'd read about Charlie). Yes, Sheen's a mess, but Singleton had a lot of insecurities too.

Anyway, Lexi Ryan has great writing style and drew me into her story lock, stock and barrel! I loved the growing bond between Charlie and Riley, loved the dwindling relationship between Riley and Chaz; especially loved the mix up with the text (sext) messaging. The most important thing I loved was how Riley's father went from controlling his daughter to accepting her for who she was and what would indeed make her happy. (We are never too old to change, thank heaven). The story was very well written and was an enjoyable read! So if you love romance, you shouldn't pass this one by, in my humble opinion.

This book was a quick, fun read. Not a lot of drama which is good. I don't always need a lot of drama in my books. I like fun, flirty books every now and then!

Riley is a workaholic. She wants to prove to her dad that she is the right person for the GM position. She knows it's a long shot, but she really thinks her dad will see what a hard worker she is and give her the position. But can she be content with her personal life. She has been dating Chaz for two years, but there is no chemistry there. He is a safe bet for her because he is a workaholic also. But when Charlie comes into town she can't stop daydreaming about him. She has always thought he was good looking, but with his bad boy rep she has stayed away. But can she stay away this time? Or will she let her inner bad girl out to play?

Charlie is tired of living the life of a professional poker player. It isn't as easy as it seems. He is tired of living out of hotels and worrying about who will sponsor him next. Once arriving in Vegas a bomb is dropped on him. He is questioning a lot about his life. He also wasn't expecting to run into Riley so soon. He wants her and plans to claim her until he realizes she is involved with someone else. But once he realizes what a loser she is dating he sets out to show her what she is missing. Can he help her without getting his feelings involved?

This is a book where I wanted more. It was short and I wanted to know ore about Riley and Charlie's lives. What happened with the news Charlie received? But this is a great read!!

Text Appeal by Lexi Ryan was a deliciously fun book with loads of witty repartee, naughty, sexy scenes and wonderful characters to enjoy!

What started out as a joke by Riley Carter's BFF, Lacey Singleton, to help her escape her mundane, censured life, turned into a spicy, dangerous 'sexting' encounter with mutually stimulating results. It also revealed some well kept hidden lust and some not so well hidden secret liaison. Lacey was determined to help Riley blossom into the warm, sensual woman she was, including revealing her secret sexy lingerie addition. After all, "a girl needs nice things"!

What ensued was a fun, seductive romp with loads of delectable Charlie Singleton, gorgeous bad boy Professional Poker player, and eventually, less of courteous and gracious (boring) Chaz, Riley's boyfriend.

Charlie was the man who for years, had "made her insides do a little Snoopy Dance....and cause her skin to tingle with his come-hither smile. His life has just taken an interesting turn with concerns re future sponsorship and with the revelational existence of a teenage son. But most dramatically, his true feelings for Riley emerged leaving him unsure of his future both professionally and personally.

If you enjoy humorous, passion filled Contemporary Romance, you will love Lexi Ryan's Text Appeal . I had never read any of her work before, but I can assure you, I am now a fan.

To be honest, I don't really remember this book. I read it a couple weeks ago and I have a hard time recollecting moments. I remember that there is sex in it, and a lot of teasing and confusion because the main guys have the same name. It is actually kind of a love-triangle with a touch of insta-love.

What I liked:
The story is half interesting and the premise is really good. Also I like Riley's character arc, even though most of it happens in the end of the book. I expected something else though, after reading that there is accidental texting. I thought the book will be about that, and not about a misunderstanding.

What I hated:
While I don't remember much of the actual story, let me tell you, this book is FULL of editing errors and spelling mistakes. I am in no way a pro, since English is not my native language, but probably because of that, I spot these things really quick. Some of them are so bad, they make my eyes bleed.

I'm pretty sure people who love quick, easy romances with bad boys will love this book. Just stick to reading the summary first and maybe you'll love it. Please be aware that mature content is included.

Initially, there were two things about this book that I found alluring: the title and the premise of the story. However, after finishing it, I didn’t feel fully satisfied. There were some “nuts and bolts” that could have been “screwed tighter” to make this story truly exceptional. Some of the scenes were simply confusing and left me wondering why they are there and how they enrich the story. I felt that the main male character, Charlie, was not developed to its full potential. Charlie’s “bad boy” magnetism should have played an elemental function in the developing story. In many instances, however, it has been imperceptible. As far as Riley, the female protagonist, her growth towards the independence seems to be missing “the hook”, to make me “care” one way or another.
I don’t intend to tell the author how this novel should have been written, since it’s neither my vision nor my “sweat and blood”. As a reader, however, I just wish that some angles of the story were explored in different ways. Overall I’ve enjoyed this book.

Read this book in one sitting. It was a quick, fun read that had me laughing and kept my attention. The text conversations were hot!! Riley stepping out of her comfort zone and living life like a woman in her twenties was humorous and inspiring. It's a reminder that it's never too late to let go a little and live your life! Charlie was sweet, while Chaz was a prick! At the end of the day, I think everyone got what they deserved!!

Wow. I should have read this book when I first added it to my TBR list - I stayed up late last night to finish it, and I'm going to bump Accidental Sex Goddess up to read next. Lexi Ryan has exactly the right voice for me - funny, sexy, believable, sweet. She's my new Victoria Dahl or Rachel Gibson. I'm going to storm through her backlist and love every second of it, I just know it.

This was an enjoyable romance. It had a great premise, interesting characters, a nice twist, steamy scenes and great pacing. I enjoyed the build up to Riley learning she had been texting Charlie instead of her boyfriend. There were a few times I had to suspend reality a bit because it is hard to believe a couple of two years wouldn't discuss in person, or at least mention, the texts Riley thought she was sharing with her boyfriend, but overall, this was a great story.

This is the first book I have read from this author and it was pretty good. Not a terribly original storyline (rich girl controlled by her Daddy is dating the "safe" guy while pining after the "bad" boy and guess who is the real bad boy), but the characters were likeable and overall it was done well.

This review is also posted on my blog.

A sweet and sensual romance amidst the glitz and glamor, the strip clubs and high-stakes poker tournaments in Las Vegas. Twenty-six year old Riley Carter lives her carefully structured life as the heiress to a hotel empire. She's daddy's good girl and has worked her butt off to make him proud enough to hopefully earn the chance of taking over for him when he retires. She's dating Chaz Spencer, the "golden boy" of the business, and better yet, daddy approves. Technically, Riley has it all. What she doesn't have are the thrills and sensations from wild, hot, toe-curling sex. Chaz doesn't see her that way, so she has to keep her ING (inner naughty girl) and her extensive lingerie (addiction) collection neatly tucked away where they will never see the light of rumpled sheets, end up in a heap on the floor or hanging from the lamp shades.

"You are the woman I want to talk to when life gets hard. You're the woman I want to raise my children." Bile rose in her throat. Did he want a wife or a nanny?

She tells herself she can live that way, and that Chaz is her best shot at a secure future, and being in the business as well, he understands the long and arduous work schedule. Everything is going as it should, until Charlie 'The Devil' Singleton shows up.

This was such a fun and easy read, that I couldn't stop flipping the pages. Despite her numerous insecurities, Riley was a very likeable character. She's young but sheltered and afraid of rocking the boat. She's also The exact opposite of the spoiled rich girl that would may expect her to be. She doesn't make outrageous demands or act as if everyone is beneath her. In fact she's sweet, a little naive, she's caring, a good daughter, a great best friend and girlfriend, but darn it, she has needs! It does come across as if she's being manipulated from everyone around her who claims to care about her. Some do it for her own good, and others have their own agenda. In that, the story and certain events were very predictable but they didn't bother me or stop me from reading.

Charlie was her perfect counterpart. Like her, he had his own insecurities but he hid them well. His persona as a professional poker player has left him with a reputation that would scare most women away (at least the types worth taking a chance on). Luckily he and Riley have been friends for a while since her room mate is also Charlie's sister, Lacey. She already knows about his reputation and he knows she's nothing like the women who normally throw themselves at him. Sounds like a recipe for attraction. And what a recipe it is! He wouldn't try to steal her away from her boyfriend Lacey said a few meaningful words and also helped them along via a cell phone number mix up. From then on it's all sexy, flirtatious humor that shows how perfect they are for each other. But will she realize it before it's too late?

Charlie looped his finger under the ribbon of the panties he'd caught Riley holding. He lifted them from the bin. "On second thought" he murmured, "the vibrant pink would look good with your dark hair."

Riley covered her face. "Oh. My. God. You did not just say that."

"What?" He pulled away her hand.

"I don't want you thinking about my hair down there," she whispered.

Charlie chuckled. "Who said anything about down there?"

I story may have been a little too fluffy to be believable, but stranger things have happened. I thought it was perfect for them though. It allowed them to bare themselves little by little even if they didn't know it was all a big misunderstanding. However the truth always has a way of coming out, and their notoriety doesn't allow indiscretions or scandals to come and go in private. I felt that Riley made quite the character transformation from beginning to end. I really enjoyed seeing her reevaluate her life and her choices, to pluck up her courage and go after what she wanted for a change. It wasn't smooth sailing all the way, but was rooting her on all the way. Charlie has his own share of problems to face, but what I loved about him was that he put Riley first, always.

I was a little worried a few times that Chaz would manage to worm his way back into Riley's good graces, but she did me proud. The writing flowed well, even if I did notice maybe three minor errors. I loved the humor and teasing between the main couple, and I felt like I was there with them every step of the way. The ending was sweet, ending with a text and an elevator ride. It ended much like how it began :)

This is the perfect book to curl up in front of the fireplace, or if you're lucky enough to be on the beach or by the pool, grab this book and lose yourself in a steamy read for a while.

Only in Sin City can steamy text messaging by a notorious bad boy professional poker player nicknamed "The Devil" tempt a good girl hotel heiress with a secret obsession for sexy lingerie to go all in and risk her straight-laced reputation and future!

Riley Carter is the daughter of a wealthy Vegas hotelier who works for her father and is determined to one day run the hotel empire when he retires. So she leads a straight-laced professional life and dates her father's right-hand man, Chaz, aka Mr. Right. But this good girl has a secret obsession for sexy lingerie.

Charlie "The Devil" Singleton is a notorious bad boy professional poker player who knows his way around the poker table and lovely women. With his personal life in shambles and his professional career in a slump, he's looking to make some changes. He comes to Vegas to participate in a poker tournament that just might change his luck and life around.

Charlie runs into Riley at the local mall outside a lingerie shop, where she was eyeing a sexy corset. They've known each other for years, Riley is his sister Lacey's best friend, and he's always been attracted to her but never had the chance to pursue her. He offers to purchase the corset for her, but she refuses saying she wouldn't wear it, he knows she really does covet the sexy lingerie and buys it anyway.

The next day Charlie texts Riley, and she thinks that the texts are from her boyfriend. But when the texts become more seductive and suggestive, Riley finds out that the sender of the steamy text messages is really Charlie, and she has to decide what she really wants out of life and if it includes the bad boy poker player.

Text Appeal is a sexy good girl - bad boy romance story that is simply a wickedly delightful read! Written in the third person narrative, author Lexi Ryan weaves a sassy little tale of two very different people who find love under the glittering lights of Las Vegas.

Rich in detail and vivid descriptions, the author transports the reader to Las Vegas, the most famous gaming town in the US, where money and booze flow, and exciting entertainment and sex appeal is part of the storied town's history. As a former casino dealer in Atlantic City who dealt BJ, Craps and Poker, I absolutely loved the knowledgeable gaming references that the author weaves into the story. Even if you're not a poker enthusiast, this story will peak your interest and teach you a little bit about the exciting game of chances that are available at your local gaming houses.

Charlie and Riley have a sizzling chemistry that leaps off the pages. I loved how their relationship blossoms as the story unfolds. The exciting twists and turns keeps the reader guessing what will happen next as Charlie and Riley decide to take a chance and make changes in order to get what they want in life. With humorous and sassy dialogue and steamy interactions; and a wickedly sexy storyline that is sure to curl your toes and keep you turning the pages; Text Appeal is one heck of an enjoyable romance story that will simply make you smile.

3.5 hearts!

Riley Carter is a good girl working for her father in Las Vegas. She has as perfect boyfriend and soon hopes to have the perfect job, making her life just...perfect. She has a hidden naughty side, though, one that loves sexy lingerie and bad boys. Bad boys like her roommates brother Charlie Singleton. Charlie is a professional poker player with a bad boy reputation and dwindling sponsors. A chance meeting with Riley in sexy underwear store opens both of their eyes to the possibilities of taking a second look.

Although parts of the story were predictable--the bad guy and the circumstances that separate Riley and Charlie--it was still an enjoyable and romantic read. The writing was smooth and there was nothing the characters did that upset me or kicked me out of the story.

I liked watching Riley find her self-confidence and take charge of her dreams. I wish there had been more shown of the relationship between her and her father; there are a few scenes where it seems like he comes across as controlling when he really just has Riley's best interests in mind.

And reading about this Charlie reminded me of devil may care and player named Charlie, one as seen on TV. Unlike that Charlie, this Charlie matured throughout the story and grew up. The story skimped on showing this development but it was apparent in his feelings for Riley that he was ready to settle down and stop looking for his place in the world.

Although set in Las Vegas, this wasn't the dominating feature of the story. Sometimes when this location is used as a setting, it permeates every aspect of the characters lives. It was a nice change to see Vegas in snippets but not feel overwhelmed by the glitz. When I heard the author lowered the price for the length of this tour, I quickly hit the buy button. With the length and quality of the writing, it's a steel! ;) I enjoyed the characters and the path Riley and Charlie had to navigate to be together. I am hoping that Charlie's sister, Lacey will get her story someday (hint hint) and we will get to revisit Riley and Charlie as well.

How have I not stumbled across this author before? This is the second book I've read by her in two days. I love what she does with her characters. Reading this second one, I can tell she has a format she uses, but it works for me. I was stuck in an airport and just hated, absolutely HATED that I finished it before my flight was called.

So, did anything stand out I need to mention? Yes ...
1 -- Her characters. Chaz was an asshat. Total and complete. Charlie was one you wanted to watch. Watch, like in eyecandy. He was tough, sweet, insecure, but a wonderful, absolutely phenomenal lover. He was considerate, sexy, made Riley feel beautiful and sexy. Loverly! Riley was good too, but more on her in a minute.

2 -- Love the whole poker backdrop. Would have loved more of this.

3 -- Texting was its' own character in this book. It was fun to watch it all unfold.

There were a few thing I though could have been better ...
1 -- The ending seemed rushed. I hate when that happens.

2 -- Riley. She could have had more depth. I thought Charlie very well drawn, but Riley had some holes. She came across as a bit immature to me too. And, the whole, being groomed to take over Daddy's world and then you find out she really wasn't doing more than any executive assistant would do. I just thought this one could have been better.

3 -- The cover is yuck! But, love the title.

I'd love to read more by this author, but not sure which one to select. I think she gets in a rush about 2/3's into her stories. I think both I've read appear to be a bit rushed. Wonder what would happen if she dug a bit deeper with her story and thought about the wrap up a bit more. I bet I'd have a new 5 Star read.

BTW: I've added this author to my "author love" shelf. I'm convinced I'll like all this author has.

Happy Reading!!

This was a sexy story with an immensely likable hero and a heroine that annoyed me only once or twice. They seemed to bring out the best in each other where she finally started living for herself as opposed to other's desires and he endeavored to become a better man. Their relationship started out in a clever way that allowed the sexual tension to build to a steamy and sweat-inducing conclusion. Their sexual interludes were nicely paced allowing real emotions to come through helping them achieve their HEA. The world of poker is a fast-paced one, and while Ms. Ryan does a nice job incorporating it into the story, I wish we'd seen more of it. There was a lot of build-up for something that's only dealt with on 4 or 5 pages.

Along with an entertaining main couple comes Charlie's sister, Lacey. She's the perfect supportive friend to Riley, funny yet honest to a fault. I'd love to see her get her own story as she's a colorful and humorously outspoken character who could give her man a run for his money.

While I found the majority of the story satisfying there were parts of the storyline that were predictable. The smarmy ex-boyfriend who only wants the rich girl for her money has been done before. He was smarmy from the start and didn't get near the comeuppance I was hoping for. With a conclusion that was a bit rushed, his ending along with those of Charlie and Riley was over too soon.

That's much to recommend this story. First and foremost are the likable characters whose relationship is entertaining as well as satisfying. There's moments of lightheartedness amongst the angst that kept me glued to the pages and cheering as the story sped to its conclusion.

Audible Review Post:

"Appealing to the Inner Naught Girl"

I loved Text Appeal, and Piper Goodeve is a great narrator. Even though readers get varying perspectives, Piper makes it easy for readers to follow the storyline and understand the internal musings of the characters. Riley Carter is a female heroine who many readers will be able to identify with because she clearly is a "good girl," but there's a naughty girl inside ready to breakout; it just takes the right man to do it, and Charlie Singleton is definitely up to the task.

Riley and Charlie's sexting and steamy encounters are everything Riley's been craving but has never felt confident enough to ask for from her boyfriend, Chaz, who is a definite douche bag!

Readers can easily see the deeper feelings that are there for both Riley and Charlie before they really even do themselves, which makes for great storytelling because we get to watch that play out and even though there are missteps and misunderstandings, ultimately, readers know, like Charlie's sister/Riley's best friend knows, that there's always been something there between them; they just had to be in the right place to admit it and take what they wanted, which is a lot easier for Charlie than it was for Riley.

Riley learns with Charlie's help that it's never been hotter or more rewarding than to be a little naughty; it doesn't make you bad...it just makes you human because perfection is not something that can be achieved regardless of how hard you try.

Charlie 'The Devil' Singleton is the face of professional poker. Notorious for playing cards and women, Charlie's ready to change his ways. He's had his eye on hotel heiress Riley Carter, his sister's best friend, for awhile, but his reputation as a "bad boy" and her reputation as "a good daughter" stand in his way. However, A mix up in Riley's contact list makes all thoughts of being good go out the window for Riley. The hot, hot texts she is getting are coming from her boring boyfriend, and when she finds out they're coming from Charlie all thoughts of being the good daughter leave her. All of a sudden she's tired of doing what's expected, and if she can't find Mr Right, she'll settle for Mr. Right Now with Charlie.

I have been a fan of Lexi Ryan's newer books, The Accidental Love Goddess, and Wish I May, and now I am reading her older books. Definitely a fan favorite of her writing, and I love seeing how she has developed from this earlier writing to the breakout author she is on the newer stuff. She provides fully developed characters and great plot lines, with steamy love scenes thrown in. Her newer stuff is not your every day romance story. But this one? This one is pretty standard romantic fair.

A good fun read.
The passion between Charlie and Riley has always been there but denied so once they give into it, it takes on a life of it's own that quickly leads to love.
The interplay between Charlie and Riley is just so cute and flirty.....and oh so sexy! Once they become involved it is so easy to see that they were made for each other. I loved how Charlie stepped up to the plate when his past comes calling but still wish he would have had it verified first. He has fear that he will not be good at this and once Riley understands the situation she oh so on board to support him. It was so sweet and sexy how Charlie helps Riley overcome her fear but in doing so leaves them both open for some heartache.
The author does an amazing job keeping this book fun and witty along with sexy with a dose of romance.

Riley is the good-girl heiress (on a budget) of a Vegas hotel mogul, and Charlie is the good-looking (but going broke) face of pro poker...not to mention the brother of Riley's best friend. Complicating matters is Riley's longtime boyfriend Chaz, who's also her fellow employee at one of her father's hotels. When some not-so-innocent texting gets out of hand, it leads to a little more than any of them bargained for...

Lexi Ryan has crafted such an engaging story with TEXT APPEAL. Not only is it a very sexy read -- from the lacy lingerie to the romantic dining to the hot elevator scenes -- but it's also well plotted, showcases humorous and smart dialogue, and has wonderfully charming main characters. Definitely check it out. This steamy contemporary romance is a sure bet!

That was cute, some hot scenes, but sweet abduction utterly predictable. I had skip quickly through the non-texts scenes because of Riley's naivete, but right after she wised up, the book got awesome, then it flipped and I didn't need to read each scene to know what was going to happen next. The worse crime though was that Charlie and Riley never actually discussed anything. Charlie got upset when Riley assumed they were just about sex when that was all it was about. He plans an evening that was not about sex, but started it by sending her super-sexy lingerie to wear, um, contradicting! And even in all the predictability that occurs, if either actual spoke to each other instead of storming off, viola, not quite so formulatic. Even so, for a cute, quick read, it wasn't a bad story
