After defeating her master and releasing the enslaved wolves, Pride, Logan, Stone and the rest of the pack return to the Canadian mountains only to discover a village in chaos. Feeling responsible for the carnage, Pride is determined to show the world exactly who the monsters really are.
When her pack refuses to let her fight alone, Pride and her team set out to change mankind. But when her leadership is tested and a traitor emerges, not only must Pride pick between the two boys who love her most, her choice could either help put an end to war on the wolves or it could endanger the very existence of her kind.
Well it certainly has been something special to take this journey with Pride from book one to book three. Pride has been one of those characters I just loved everything about. She’s a wolf shifter, but like I’ve mentioned in previous reviews for Pride, she is more wolf than human. That’s just how Cat Kalen rolls, and I love it.
In Pride’s Pursuit we catch up with her after escaping the compound with Logan and a few others. They make their way to Canada, only to find Logan’s town is on fire. Pride feels this is her fault, and has heaped the burden of “making it right” on herself. And what comes next is an action and drama packed story.
In this book I’ve decided, finally, what love interest team I am on. Team Stone. I honestly thought I would go Team Logan, he and Pride seemed to have it all. But there is just something about that true mate link that just gets me. I love Stone. He is my favorite type of alpha male, stubborn, hot, and madly in love. So there it is, Team Stone. Over and over, things happen hat enforce my hope that Pride and Stone will be together.
But Logan isn’t bad. He’s actually very good for Pride. He’s calm and strong. He is able to help her keep her wits about her, to think before she acts. He obviously loves her. He’s young and sexy, and completely alpha. So why can’t I just jump on board? I don’t know!!! Maybe he is just too good, ya know? He’s saved Pride when she couldn’t save herself. He’s the “good guy” and there it is. He’s completely wonderful, just not bad enough for me.
Ok, I digress. Back to the book. There is a lot that happens in this book. There’s a traitor, and that is a very scary concept. And then Pride gets to know her father a bit more. That was really awesome and wonderful in so many ways. And then a PTF agent makes a difference in Pride’s life.
Between forests, caves, and compounds this story’s backdrop is beautiful. Pride has to worry about the cat shifters out there, and the PTF. And the climactic battle is really something terrific. The relationship with the other characters is what makes this special. Pride is such a strong woman, it’s almost like she is the Alpha, while Stone and Logan allow her to make decisions that will affect the whole group. The whole series is just wonderful, and I really recommend you give it a shot! Cat Kalen’s writing is fantastic; you really get to feel like you are right there. Or have you already read this series? I’d love to hear what you think!
I'm sad that this trilogy has come to an end but ecstatic with the way that it ended! The first half of this book progresses at a breakneck pace which left me concerned about how Cat Kalen was going to wrap-up this series without rushing it but I'm happy to report that the ending was picture perfect. I loved how everything came together and was awestruck by the unexpected twists. I'm overjoyed that Pride got her perfect happily ever after because if anyone deserves one it's her. Pride's Pursuit is emotionally charged, incredibly satisfying and one of the best Young Adult werewolf books of 2012.
This third and final installment wastes no time and picks up right where Pride Unleashed left off. If you're contemplating starting this series, then I strongly suggest you start with the first book because Kalen loses very little time with recaps. I normally prefer it when an author does a brief rundown of pertinent past happenings but in this case the characters and story are just so memorable that it's not necessary. I had no trouble diving right back into Pride's world even though it's been over six months since my last visit. Cat's first person POV writing style is gripping and wild which gives readers a real sense of viewing the world through a werewolf's eyes. I love the animal feel of Kalen's novels; it's what hooked me in the beginning and it's what keeps me coming back for more. Well, that and her wolves (of course).
I have a somewhat love / hate relationship with love triangles, especially in YA. I'll either spend the entire book rolling my eyes at all of the corniness or devour the drama. In this case it was the latter; I've been so torn over Pride's Stone vs. Logan dilemma that I just couldn't see an ending that would appease everyone. Cat surprised me with her cleverness and I was genuinely pleased with the result. I didn't feel cheated and all of the characters receive what was ultimately best for them in the long run which is not an easy feat to accomplish in any love triangle. However, I would have been happy had it gone either way; it really was a close race. Admittedly, the final decision is left up in the air until the last chapters which made for one heck of a suspenseful conclusion to this series.
The ending was by far my favourite part of this book and quite possibly my favourite part of this entire trilogy. The twists are skillfully written, the revelations are shocking and the culmination is exquisite. I loved how Kalen weaved in the surprises about Pride's father's master plan, the Paranormal Task Force's role and how she solved the true mate quandary. Pride's Pursuit is a brilliant ending to this wonderful trilogy and I can't wait to check out the spin-off series next year!
I was a bit disappointed, I'll be honest. There's a lot of action with no real resolution in this book. It's short. Very short. Less than 130 pages, which is barely even a book in my world. The author seemed to wander a bit, unable to decide how to end things. I think the author knew where she wanted to go but just couldn't quite get there.
Things do get resolved, but in a very unsatisfying way. The overarching plotline just sort of...finishes. Very quickly. In a few pages. I found it unsatisfying. Of course the love triangle gets wrapped up, but since I didn't care all that much about the love triangle to begin with...yeah. Quite a bit of this book is focused on said love triangle. We never really do learn more about the panthers, except for literally one or two sentences about their origin. The big secret her dad is holding is resolved the same way. One or two sentences.
Overall I found this a disappointment. The series started strong but just couldn't keep that momentum.
This was the perfect ending to this trilogy. It was short but sweet. Fast paced and not a dull moment. Picks up exactly where Pride Unleashed left off. I could feel the emotions and intensity between each character from the beginning to the end, especially the end. You can tell Pride has a deep love for both Logan and Stone. Even though it was kind of predictable yet fitting who she chose in the end i was happy with the decision, yet I was a bit unhappy that she didn't choose (well I won't spoil that) it was sad and I could really feel his pain in the end. Oh well I loved both of the wolves and like I said earlier i was content on the decision she made. The only thing is I wish there was more dialogue between the characters, I felt there was just a little to much dialogue on Prides thoughts and not enough interaction. But it was still one heck of a series!
This book is part of a three book series. Book one had an abrupt ending and I decided to read all three books in the series before writing a review. Each of the three books is quite short, not one tops 200 pages. The story moves swiftly and kept my attention. There is a twist in this book that is not well concealed enough to be called a twist. The love triangle is resolved in this final book in a way that felt appropriate to the overall story arc. In the end the story wraps up in more or less the way I expected it to from the very beginning. I wouldn't put this in the same category with classic fantasy/supernatural writers like H.G. Wells or Stephen King but it was far from the worst thing I've ever read.
This book wasn't really very long, it was short but it was really intense. I was barely breathing during the fight and I cried for Pride as to how she lost one of her pack and had to let one of the two Alpha's go. I honestly could not decide between Logan and Stone during the series but when it come down to the choice in the end I was thoroughly satisfied with it. This entire series proved to be heart stopping, nerve wrecking and left me in awe kind of like a rollercoaster. I believe this is my favourite shifter book to be read this month.
I enjoyed the story and was happy to find out where Pride's path takes her, but this book had significantly less action and didn't quite hook me the way the other two did. The love triangle was a bit annoying and I'm not sure I like how it turned out. There was a lot of build up around the secrecy of Pride's past (or her father) that really never resolved. This book was ok - but I am probably biased since I was so invested in Pride.
Cat Kalen left no stone unturned with the final installment of the series. I wasn't sure how the ending would fare with all the twists and turns it had. What I will say though is that if you get a chance to read the series you won't be disappointed.
A couple of little negatives were the same I had throughout the series with its repetitive explanations but I think it's probably the way I like to read or not read.
Wow great series. Can't believe this series is ending. I'm not ready to say goodbye to Pride. I'm super excited about the spin off series coming out soon and secretly hope Pride shows up at some point.
That ending made me content with the book because all the issues regarding the protagonist were addressed even though some, like; where did Nova ended up? What happened to Blaze, Sandy, 'that' PTF, the good pack of panthers, and MOSTLY, Stone? Nevertheless, I find the ending fulfilling...
I was riveted from the very first chapter in the first book. I haven't been able to put them down since I started. Absolutely amazing series I will enjoy reading again and again. Give it a chance, you may end up loving it as much as I have.
It was a good ending, but the story just wasn't developed enough. It was too short. Really books two and three could have just been one book. Epilogue was cute.
