Librarian's note: This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN: B006455BJK.

The long-awaited sequel to A. Jacob Sweeny's smash hit Pulse of Heroes -
Of Blood And Pulse picks up the story right where Pulse Of Heroes left off...

After a rocky start, Michelle and Elliot's relationship seems to be hanging on nothing but a few fraying strings, despite the great love that they feel for one another. Haunted and scarred by the events of the past year, they both suffer from the traumatic consequences.

To complicate things even further, someone who knows far too much about Elliot shows up unexpectedly, bringing revelations that even Elliot as a 4700 year-old immortal has a hard time grasping. This visitor's mere presence adds yet another strain to the couple's already fragile relationship.

However before Michelle and Elliot can remedy and mend their love, they must heal themselves, and that task will not be as easy, or as safe, as it seems. Join Michelle and Elliot on an epic life-and-death adventure that will take them to the four corners of the world in search of the key to their survival.

No! Pirated file sharing IS NOT like reading the book for free at the library. It's like taking that book home, making tons of photocopies of it, and then giving those out to whoever. It is Illegal and the same goes for E-books!!!!

I have been writing and storytelling ever since I was able to hold a pen. When I spent time working as a teacher with children of varying ages I was fascinated by the awesome power of words to excite and inspire the young mind. The art of Storytelling is what makes a good teacher great.

My degree in History with an emphasis on Ancient Near East, and my personal interest in world myths, combined with my fieldwork in archaeology have inspired my research and development of many elements in the story.
I also remember what it was like to be a girl myself and have often wanted to share my own thoughts, fears and dreams during that age with others. I read many books during my teenage years and some of them were essential in helping me make it through that time, and helping me become the satisfied person that I am today. I want to be able to return that favor to all the readers out there.

When I finished reading Pulse of Heroes, I could not wait to get my hands on Of Blood and Pulse. As much as I hate leaving spoilers, this review will have them because I can’t express what I think without talking about some scenes.

First of all, this book is pure and simple, an epic story of when people are literally made for each other. Elliot and Michelle are made for each other physically and this doesn’t always mean that they will get along emotionally.
A. Jacob Sweeny did a wonderful job taking us through this story. I really liked one scene in particular where Michelle had told Elliot it was over and she never wanted to see him again and he ended up with another woman. This is how a man would react, men don’t pine (especially ones who are thousands of years old.) Elliot heard the words it’s over and in his mind, it was. This was real, raw emotion, which happens in real life. In some books, the male characters come off as what we would like them to be, not what is real.

Sweeny writes about guys very well, it makes me wonder if she had a couple brothers growing up, because she has caught the brotherhood of the pulse guys really well. Sometimes it’s hard for women to write male characters and their interactions, same goes for men writing women characters. I’m very impressed with this part of her books.
In the first book, I wasn’t as drawn to Elliot as in the second book. In Of Blood and Pulse, I really connected with him a lot more, and understood where he was coming from a lot more. This is because we dive deeper into his character and history in this book.

Both books took me a little while to get through the first couple chapters, but most books are like that for me, but once I got through those first couple chapters I blew through the rest of the book. I am so glad I got the Kindle version so I could read it on my treadmill.

The history in this book is amazing, freakin amazing. I love, love, love how much depth she goes into. I love history and she weaves it into the story just perfectly. I can tell that history and different cultures are a love of hers, as it flows over into her writing.

In Of Blood and Pulse, Michelle and Elliot are exploring their relationship on a somewhat higher level. Michelle was almost raped in the last book, and she is having nightmares and other problems because of all the trauma she endured. Elliot knows he needs to be careful with her (once he finds out about it) so many parts in this book are coming of age style, fooling around, with each other. I believe this was all done very carefully and respectfully, also creatively.

Of Blood and Pulse, like Pulse of Heroes, is a very long book. So be prepared and know that this isn’t an “easy” read.
I love this series and I cannot wait until the next book comes out!

FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!! I couldn't put this book down b/c I wanted to know everything that was going to happen and at the same time I didn't want to see it end...I am in withdrawals right now b/c I finished it...NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW!!!

I am so in love with this series!! More importantly, I am in love with Elliot! He is so wonderful and funny, and the love he has for Michelle is mind-blowing...

A. Jacob Sweeney has created a world in which is like no other and I have fallen in love with it. With Pulse of Heroes and now Of Blood and Pulse, I can never put it down because each one is a page turner that has drawn the reader in, hooked them to the very last page...

Our heroine, Michelle, is only a teenager, but she has experienced so much and in this book she has grown so much. I love to see character growth and she has definitely done that in this installment. She and Elliot go through some rough trials, but the true love story in this book causes my heart to swell with joy and all I can say is that I am mesmerized!!

A DEFINITE MUST READ!!! If you are like me...you will also fall in love with this series...

Wow...what a thick book with so much inside! A. Jacob Sweeny is definitely moving into a new class as she writes these first novels. I liked "Pulse of Heroes", but I must say that I really enjoyed this second book. There was more of everything in this story: myths, history, biblical references, adventure, romance, and once again the teen angst that this author continues to nail on the head.

It was refreshing to see the characters evolve and interact as the adventure of being in a relationship unfolds. This is not an easy thing to accomplish considering the lifetimes of differences between Elliot and Michelle. A. Jacob Sweeny obviously spent a lot of time researching the information to write this book and I wouldn't be surprised if she traveled back in time to her high school days to depict those feelings of youth so accurately!

The ending and epilogue has once again left me praising and cursing the author as I now have to wait for the next book in the series! Great job!

Oh myyyyyy !! THIS CERTAINLY HAD MY BLOOD AND PULSE RACING ............

I’m a fast reader but was determined to drag this baby out!!! I savoured every chapter, and dragged it out for days... longer.... I know you say why if you loved it... I just didn’t want it to end!!

AJ has done it again!! More mythology, more history, more characters and so much dam action I’m sure the kids on the pin ball machines would get a run for their money... yes its like the litte balls in that pin ball machines... every corner is a page turner and every page something new and that ping you hear is your brain wandering which direction the story is headed!

In Of Blood and Pulse Aj has introduced new characters, some in which I fell for - I was sheepishly grinning at Jason ... he definitely grew on me... I laughed at the funny antics, shed a tear in certain parts, and also had my reader in frenzy in the end... Silently screaming to myself NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh man what a climax............ My heart was racing and my finger was sliding across the reader until finally the end page came: Epilogue came and I sighed.. But wow what an ending... So now AJ certainly has me intrigued as to where it’s headed...

Aj will take you to places you have never been, she has certainly done her research here with this story and myself not being a history buff or really having any idea I was totally in awe of the information she has put forth!! Certainly intrigued... So much detail... so much of everything..... Her research and knowledge certainly did this book justice..

Her descriptions where easily envisaged, I could see the vikings, the forrest, you name it, such vivid detail I felt like I was there walking through the forrest, trudging along behind Elliot and the others. I could see everything and felt everything, AJ certainly drags you into her world.

Fluent flowing storyline, taken off from book one and progresses at a steady rate till of course you hit 3/4 through and Oh my !!! NOOOO

My heart ached for Michelle and Elliot their relationship did certainly take the tug of wars in this story. Like a roller coaster ride this story will take you on many twists and turns and have you wandering and guessing in which direction she is taking us. There love certainly took on a new level, one which I must say also had my heart doing flips, and my toes where curling along with Michelle’s lol.. Elliot is such a dream boat.... sighs - - -

A must read series.. It will leave you gobsmacked, have your heart palpitating, and have you anxious throughout... It will leave you contented - sighing - yet sheepishly grinning and also raising an eyebrow at the ending.... hmmmmm..... Cant wait for Pulse Genesis !

When I was 16 I had just finished reading all the books in the Twilight series. They to me were the absolute greatest things. I thought to myself, there can't be anything better than this. Moving on a few years, and reading many more books since then, I found that they were all lacking the same feeling. Then one day, I saw rave reviews about a new book I had never heard of. I was skeptical at first but I decided to snatch it up.

Ah, Pulse of Heroes - A breath of fresh air! I had finally found everything I was looking for. When you can read something and feel blown away, amazed by the words, thought, and feeling put into making such a thing... It's special, and it becomes dear to you. That’s exactly what happened after I read Pulse of Heroes. Now, after waiting months and months for the second book to come out, the day had finally arrived – Of Blood and Pulse was announced. Time to pre-order!

Of Blood and Pulse will not disappoint and will definitely leave you breathless and wanting more. Elliot and Michelle are the new couple. When Bella and Edward are gone and forgotten, Elliot and Michelle will be there in their place to take over. The amount of energy and research A. Jacob Sweeny put into this book is astounding, and it has definitely paid off. I have a feeling that this amazing book, along with the entire Pulse series, will be re-read by myself and many others time and time again.

Well A. Jacob Sweeny did it again! This series just gets better with each book. If your looking for a book packed full of action, history, high adventures plus an epic love story then this is the book for you. With a great story line and loveable characters A. Jacob Sweeny has a series that will reel you in and have you begging for more. The story starts off exciting and ends in the same way. The Twilight Saga doesn't hold a candle to this series. I was getting so sick of the same old vampire, werewolf and fallen angel books. Then along came The Pulse Myths series. It has a refreshing storyline that doesn't follow the crowd.
Mrs. Sweeny puts so much love and effort in her writing and it shows in every word she writes! I was so blowed away by this series that I can't sing its praises enough. I am so grateful to had the honor of reading this book. The only thing I can find to complain about is the long wait for the next book in the series to be written and released! I hope you take the time to pick up this epic series and read for yourself exactly why I feel so strongly about these books.
One last word of advise A. Jacob Sweeny put so much time and effort into her work that truly hope you would never try to steal her story! She has had this to happen to her first with Pulse of Heroes and then again with Of Blood and Pulse. I am strongly against this and frown upon the theft of someone's hard work. So please do the right thing and BUY DON'T STEAL her work.

This book is an amazing continuation of Pulse Of Heroes! Just when you think that the story couldn't get any bigger and deeper, A. Jacob Sweeny takes us on another thrilling ride/s through history and mystery. Only this one is much grander in scope. It's like if you loved the first book then you graduated and can now be allowed to read the second. The history and the amazing travels we go one is EPIC! The depth of character just opens up for the reader a whole new world. Getting to know so much more about Elliott and where he comes from adds to our understanding of him, and makes us love him all the more. And Michelle, suffers yet matures through out the story. If you loved the first book you are sure to go crazy over this one. The twist and turns, the emotions, especially of Elliot in Rome, and the love he has for Michelle and she for him is felt from every direction. They grow so much closer and it is so delicately told, you feel like you are the one there, but maybe you shouldn't and let them alone in their privacy. This is an epic masterpiece. Go read it!

SO JUST READ so you don't! well that was my great advice of the day

Hello y'all Anne here and I've just devoured the last pages of AJ Sweenys' work of art Of Blood And Pulse and let me tell you that again I am completely blown away by this book. The amount of riveting history and jaw dropping scenes of past places, times, and events is amazing and very indicative to Pulse Of Heroes hence why I love book 2 just as much if not a little more than book 1. In Book 2 you will pick up right where Book 1 left off and see how now back in America and struggling to stay together Elliot and Michelle have been scarred and broken by the past events. Michelle is a girl coming of age and her innocence is charming, she is girlie and needy and totally in love with a guy that she is petrified to show it to. Michelle soon to be 18 and wanting to be with Elliot but she knows that the damage inflicted by Haden is taking its toll she can't let it go she can't seem to heal herself from wounds she won't even discuss out of fear of what people think. So like any good teenager what does she do she rebels!!! Here's why I think most people love The Pulse Books it's because they are real events to some of us, we have been there and done that. Girls are passionate and unpredictable, volatile and fearsome, we love whole and endlessly, but we are most of all fragile and delicate. It sometimes takes a man who has been around longer to show us the most important parts of ourselves and that is what Elliot does for Michelle, after the trauma she suffered and he has as well he caters to her whims and tantrums, to her closed mind and yet needy heart. Elliot reminds her how much she is loved and that it's not because of The Pulse but because she is herself and he adores her. When things go array for the broken couple only hope and love will return the two souls together, and like real life this takes patience and time. Michelle needs her time to heal and while Elliots' heart is breaking he gives her what she needs the most, space and time. In the mean time Elliot discovers not only is his wound not healing but it's getting worse and his friends embark on a journey to find a miracle cure. Traveling to Rome, and other countries the guys take us on not only a journey of the here and now but their pasts open up even more as they enter countries from their lives much changed by time and evolution. Life altering changes begin to take place for Elliot who is thousands of years old, well his world just flipped upside down. Michelle returns realizing that she loves Elliot and now is ready to try to heal herself and her broken relationship, and learns that the love her life is in need of serious healing as well. Angry for his lack of concern Michelle and Elliot move through all the ups and downs of a normal relationships, testing strengths and weaknesses and learning about each other via trial and error. This is so dead on for real life, real people don't just meet and fall into this perfect romance, it's work and it's dedication and that's what makes love true you must work for it care for it and nurture it through all the good times and the bad. Michelle has a ton of new experiences in this book learning trust and relinquishing control to her life to Elliot allowing herself to open wholly to him she shares intimate things and finds deep down inside herself is a woman that Elliot is in need of. Elliot never never pushes Michelle, he shows her that real love is not only physical but its emotions and mental state as well. He loves her and is extremely careful not to damage her innocence he allows her to explore at her own pace and shows her how much fun relationships can be when done correct. Dear Elliot can only love Michelle with every fiber of his being, he can't loose her again ever so he stands by her side and they walk together through whatever the world throws at them, and let me tell y'all it's some crazy stuff. But in the end after several points where I personally shed tears, wanted to shred the book, and squealed with joy in fits of giggles this book was nothing less than extraordinary and captivating and as I said in my last review Mirabolante (beautiful in italian) I can't begin to tell everyone I am on edge for the next book, but while y'all are waiting too go grab A Sword For His Women a short story opening up past events in the guys lives. 5 out of 5 stars for Of Blood And Pulse by AJ Sweeny if i could give it 10 stars it would have them because it deserves no less. Can't wait for book 3 Pulse Genesis hopefully coming soon.

I can't find enough good things to say about this book, without giving away some key spoilers, so I'm going to do my best to keep things simple without giving anything away...

First and foremost, there are so many twists and turns in this book, that you truly are on the edge of your seat the entire time. I thought I was in love with Elliot and Michelle before, but after this heartbreakingly beautiful book I have to say that they are competeing for the number one spot in the part of my heart that is saved for fictional couples.

In all seriousnesses there is some brilliant writing here. I was so engulfed by this beautiful world that was created, I couldn't put it down, but I didn't want the story to end either. This is a MUST READ if you want to be swept off your feet by some serious devotion and loyality by the main characters. The only part I'll complain about is the wait for the next book in the series! A++ 15 out of 10 ten stars!

Oh my god this is a big book. With SO much going on - where to begin??
One thing I love about A Jacob Sweeny is the way she can twist and turn on you - one minute you're feeling the terror, then the pain and crushing heartache, then laughing as the characters make their observations about life. All those things are woven together flawlessly.

I believe all the people who are so crazy in love with Pulse of Heroes will appreciate this book even more! The new characters, the exotic locations, the depth of history and the human experience bursting off of every page. Love it love it love it. These books are on a par with anything else out there, and are obviously going to stand the test of time. They need to make this series into a movie!!

This is an amazing book. I loved Pulse of Heroes, but Blood and Pulse is even better! It has grown into a historical, romantic, suspenseful saga of epic proportions. This book has everything I love in a good story, adventure, romance, travel, history, humor and the characters are very well written and continue to draw you into their lives, past and present. The climactic scene close to the end, was so exciting, I had to keep taking breaks to get my heartbeat back under control. As you can tell, I loved it. Gigi

Spoiler alert !!!!This is the second time I read this amazing book. But below I am posting an argument against the person (Christine)who gave this book a one star.
(caution spoiler alert)I have to write this because I have no idea if we even read the same book. I read Of Blood And Pulse twice. Once in kindle and once in print. To say that nothing happened in the book is very strange to me.

First, not once is there a mundane thing about Michelle waking up and going to bed. But we find out that Elliot is very sick, but he thinks that he can control it to live a regular life with Michelle, We find out that Michelle is filled with guilt and fear and has nightmares about what happened with Haden, we find that Michelle is filled with insecurities because of the sexual and emotional abuse she suffered in the hands of Haden and that is why Sweeney chose to put the intimate scenes in this book. It is precisely to show how this effected Michelle and her body image-nothing was done out of place, it all had a purpose to serve and it was so realistically portrayed. Also there are only 3 sexual scenes in this book and it is over 600 pages, so to say that there is constant sexual scenes is a lie.

But to get back t what happens. Elliot and his friends go on adventures to try and find a cure for his sickness. Elliot is finally able to let go of Leta's memories and visits Rome after not being there for over a thousand years or something like that. He also sacrifices more of his health by helping fight a fire.
Oh, then Jessica a sister that he never knew he had shows up and Michelle gets a letter from Haden's daughter.Elliot and Michelle get back together and both decide to be honest and open with one another. We also find out that Haden is Elliot's brother. Then we head on a sailing trip where we find out so much about the other immortals, after which we go on an adventure to figure out if the ancients crossed over the Atlantic. In between all this, Elliot's and Michelle's relationships matures and they became much closer.

You also complain about the history. I had no problem with it, so I think this speaks more about you then the book. It was easy and I wanted more. Sweeney put the history in there and it was fascinating. We learn so much about who the guys are and why they are the way they are because of all these past experiences.

You complain that Michelle is awful to her parents? How is that? there is one scene when she tries to assert that her love for Elliot is the most important thing to her, but that's it.

To say that Elliot coddles Michelle is just out there. Elliot loves Michelle and is aware of what she has been through. Maybe you don't know what love patience and understanding is? First of all Michelle is only 17 and she was almost raped, abused and almost killed. She can't trust people, and Elliot is supposed to tell her off because of that? I think that you are right. This book is not for you, because you obviously didn't understand it at all, and don't seem to realize that this is a romance story between two people who come from different backgrounds and neither is perfect. You should try something a bit more simple next time.

First off, let me say that I have NO IDEA why it took me so long to finally pick this book up off of my shelf. I have learned my lesson though, and I will definitely be starting book 3 as soon as it arrives at my door.

My mind has been blown!

Of Blood and Pulse is the epic and exciting continuation of The Pulse Myths series and I enjoyed every second of the phenomenal adventure.

This book is rich with history that has been researched tediously and it not only does it make the series even more outstanding, but it is informative and enjoyable at the same time. AJ is one heck of a writer. She weaves a tale so vivid and powerful that I can see the things she describes in my head. She also makes me want to travel to all these amazing places. Plus, the already well developed characters have become even more developed. We get to hear a lot more about everyone's past, especially Elliot's, and we get to meet some new and very interesting characters.

Of Blood and Pulse is every bit as magical as Pulse of Heroes was, only better. It's powerful and full of so much deep emotion. I laughed, nearly cried, and wanted to throw my book across the room. (I would never really do that) It really was amazing how much this novel made me feel. Only a very talented writer can make their reader feel exactly what the characters are feeling, and let me tell you, I felt it!

The romance is breath-taking. The heat level has risen a step since Pulse of Heroes. I loved how AJ wrote the intimate scenes in great detail without them being distasteful or erotic. They really showed the progression of the relationship and still held an innocent factor.

Of Blood and Pulse picks up right where Pulse of Heroes ends, and does not stop. This story was addicting and hard to put down, but I spread it out over a few days so that I could really delve into the story and savor. The sweet/cliffhanger ending left me both completely satisfied and hungry for the next book in the series, Pulse Genesis.
This book is the perfect mixture of romance, suspense, and history, along with exquisite and lyrical writing and a magnificent story. Definitely one of the best books I have read in 2012!

If you have not already, I highly encourage that you pick up Pulse of Heroes, Of Blood and Pulse and A Sword For His Women, a short story in the Pulse world!

I loved this book as much as the first!
In Pulse of Heroes we get to meet the main characters and in this book we go deeper into their minds. and wow, we go to so many places and meet some very interesting new faces. The adventure part was dynamic, I couldn't breath at all the last two chapters. Loved all the guys interacting with one another. We really get to follow them around and it's so much fun.
The historical flashbacks were great and kept me wanting to know more. It really narrowed it for me about Elliot. I actually ended up looking up a few things while reading. The author done her homework and she has obviously given so much in this book.I love it.
I also fell in love with Elliot and Michelle even more and I cared about what they were both going through. I felt that Michelle matured in some ways but at the same time she becomes very skiddish after Haden almost raping her and that makes perfect sense. I think the author nailed that. Of course she's going to have problems trusting any man, even Elliot, and she loves him.
I appreciated the sexual scenes with Elliot and Michelle because it was done so natural and innocent. It reminded me of my first time lol because it felt so real. I remember being just as nervous as Michelle One reviewer here thought it was unbelievable that Michelle was so clueless about sex for her age. But I never got that from this book. Michelle obviously knew about it, but she was insecure about her own body, especially after what Haden did to her. She was also excited and nervous. I loved it that she couldn't stop giggling. Also not everyone is that into it until later in life. I had so many things to worry about in high school that sex just had to wait. I was almost twenty and although I knew the technicalities from taking sex education class, just like Michelle I was unaware of the rest. The class was very fact on and that's it.
A Jacob Sweeny is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can't wait for more and I will be sad when this series ends. I hope she changes her mind.

Again another amazing book!!! I could not wait to get my hands on this book, and when I did wow. I had my emotions all over the place with this book!!! I could NOT believe some of the things that happened, and it tore at my heart strings but in the end I calmed down and tried to see some reason, did I still feel a little put out by what Elliott did, yes and I don't think I can forgive him anytime soon.

There was a lot of OMFG moments for me in this book. Again Michelle kind of pisses me off, here she has Elliott, PTSD of everything that happened and still doubts him. I can see how she would be a little put off but really?! Michelle makes up for it a lot though, she puts herself out there even when she isn't in her comfort zone. I have to give her credit on a few of her other decisions, but sometimes I just want to slap her. Elliott is the same though for me he stole my heart but really?! He did something that ruined me, and I am not even a character. I wish I was though hot damn some things I would do ;). But this series has me addicted and waiting for book 3 is going to try my patience.

This author has a lot to offer in her books, there is something for everyone, and I mean everyone. I can't explain what it is about this book, but it hooks you and you just wish you cold be Michelle or a dog or something to be near these hotties!!! I don't know how else to put into words my thoughts on this book. I recommend it to you all :)

ARC For Review ~ I also bought the Kindle Version of this installment, in support of this very gifted and hard at writing author.

OMG EPIC! This second installment is even better than the first.. it picks up right where Book 1 left off, an emotional roller-coaster ride, Michelle is insecure about her feelings for Elliot, so much so that she over-reacts to certain events causing herself more than enough pain for both her and Elliot. Elliot has issues of his own to deal with, the emotions are intense and well described you can just about guess how one will react to certain situations.

Imagine yourself on a boat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with three rocking hard bodied drop-dead gorgeous and sexy as hell HEROES! A Female's Paradise. That is just one scenario in this amazing journey of an EPIC LOVE so strong filled with history, romance, action, raw emotions and feelings. Absolutely Refreshing!

If you are wanting a Amazing journey to embark on, this would it.. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

If you thought that the first book was good, this one will blow you away!! Not only do you get the romance between Elliot and Michelle, but the suspense and the drama that tries to pull them apart. I read this book in like two days, it is one of those books you dont want to put down. I also loved the amount of history that is tied into the story, how you can look into Elliot's life before Michelle. Everything in this book is beyond awesome, and I would recommend it to anyone, but especially teen girls. Girls can relate to Michelle in this book because she goes through the same feelings and dilemmas any teen girl can face. I love this book and YOU should read it!!

Another amazing book! This book is huge (600 pages) but I still wanted more. I actually decided to re-read book #1 (pulse of heroes) before reading this book. Glad I did because I had forgotten some stuff that was important to this book. Let's just say I haven't been very productive this past week! Thanks again A. Jacob Sweeny....Love your stuff!

Michelle may be back from Europe but the events that took place there are fresh and vivid in her mind. Suffering from nightmares, Michelle is struggling to cope, and has only let Elliot into her confidence so far...even with his abilities, does he know everything Michelle is feeling?

Elliot is also keeping secrets...one that could have devastating consequences for both himself and Michelle, if he doesn't find a solution and fast. Just when it seems that things cannot possibly get any worse for Michelle and Elliot, Michelle witnesses something that makes her re-think their entire relationship.

Is everything as it seems? Futhermore, will Michelle and Elliot be able to heal themselves from the events in Europe and re-build their relationship or will unforseen events and enemies tear them apart forever?

Taking me on an emotional rollercoaster, A. Jacob Sweeny has written a sequel that is unforgettable.

One of the things that I enjoy about Sweeny's writing style is her ability to bring out the emotions of her characters; their voices and feelings leap off the page. While reading Of Blood and Pulse, the pain and sadness that Michelle and Elliot sometimes experienced felt so raw and intense, that I was left speechless. One scene in particular, I had to go back and re-read because I was just so swept away by the emotions of Michelle and Elliot. I don't want to go into too much detail about the scene as I don't want to spoil it for anyone. I'll just say that it involves a car and someone's reflection in the rear-view mirror, as the car drives away. Wow.

Of Blood and Pulse is a supernatural/paranormal story, so naturally there are many paranormal elements and events but there is also so much realism to the novel. I love how Sweeny balances the real world with the supernatural world; in particular, Michelle and Elliot's relationship. Both character's make mistakes and both learn the importance of communication. In addition, the shyness and awkwardness that Michelle sometimes feels around Elliot, adds an innocence to the story which I really like.

Of Blood and Pulse is full of even more mystery, suspense, history and romance, and with twists and turns that will leave you shocked, you will find yourself wondering which new character's can be trusted. As you reach the final pages the suspense does not end, Sweeny writes a jaw dropping cliff-hanger that will leave you eagerly awaiting the final installment in the Pulse Myths.

4.5/5

Of Blood and Pulse by A. Jacob Sweeny is the second book in the Pulse Myth Series and did not disappoint. It picks up where Pulse of Heroes leaves off and Michelle and Elliot continue on their journey together. Sweeny’s descriptive writing put me right back into the story without a missed beat. The lands, the history, it just comes alive! I am still in awe of the way the author manages to make the story flow while teaching me all about history. The excitement level of this book revs up the series a notch and never leaves me wanting. The romance is also advancing, at a pace that makes the story believable. No, girl meets boy, sex, sex, sex in this book! New characters are introduced and Sweeny made each one a living, breathing person to me. I find the balancing act of supernatural/paranormal world to human quite well done. You always believe in the story, the characters, and this is no easy feat. It’s the little nuances that make this story evolve so well. For example, Elliot reacts to the “we’re over” scene in a way that is so typical of how a man would react and Michelle’s reaction to Elliot’s reveal of his injury is also a typical way for a woman to react. Elliot became so much more to me in this book than the older, wiser boyfriend of Michelle. He became more real. Seeing his emotions, his attachment to Michelle and hearing more about his past lives really brought Elliot alive for me, made me feel more of a connection to him. I also liked that Michelle got to travel with Elliot in this book. It added more to the story in that she got to see Elliot in a different light. Seeing him react to others of his kind, other than the “brothers” he lives with, shows Michelle a new side of Elliot. It also allows Michelle to become deeper involved in his life instead of sitting on the sidelines of his other side. While adventure, history and excitement are definitely evident, this story, at its heart, is one of true love and this second book shows that. It brings a whole new level of romance and relationship to the table. Great job A. Jacob Sweeny, I can’t wait until the next book!

I love this book so much. I read it in one sitting. I could not put it down. I love AJ’s writing so much and how she pulls you into the history and lives of all the characters.

So this book takes up right where Pulse of Heroes left off. Michelle and Elliot are back in the states struggling with everything that happened and trying to stay together. Michelle loves Elliot so much and wants to be with him but she can’t heal the pain of what happened to her. Since she won’t talk about anything Haden did to her Elliot feels helpless and lost and doesn’t know what to do to help her. With both of them broken Michelle walks away to deal with her pain and Elliot lets her even though it breaks his heart to do so.

With Michelle off doing what normal teenagers do Elliot finds him self not healing from the wound inflicted by Haden so his friends take off to find a magic cure. Michelle comes to realize that she loves Elliot and wants to heal herself and their relationship. But it’s not easy as more things come to light for the both of them. But through it all they deal with it and their love only gets stronger.

At times while reading this amazing book I found myself yelling, crying, and laughing out loud. I am waiting impatiently for the next book to see what adventure AJ takes us on next. I know it will be amazing and filled with lots of history, action, and most important a love that will transcend everything.
5/5 stars although I wish I could give it more

Let me start off by saying that I really liked this book. I love Elliot and Michelle, Also, even though he has just a small section of this book, I really liked Jason. I also, still feel like something is amiss with Jessica, I felt that way since she was introduced.... But again, I felt like the history could've been reigned in a bit. I only say this because, I would get to a point where Elliot would describe something in history and it would last a while and when we finally get back to Elliot and Michelle, I completely lost track of what was happening. Now, I did love the history, I just think it had a little too many details, we don't need to know 5 pages of history to answer one question.. I still give this book a 4/5 And Thank you A. Jacob Sweeny for letting me have this amazing book, and the chance to review it!

WOW!!! That's is the only word that came to mind at that moment! This book was just WOW!!! I have loved every one of Sweeny's books! Each time I picked one of these books up I couldn't put it down unless forced. Even then I was in a mad rush to finish what needed to be down, so I could get back to reading!! Sweeny is a mastermind at creating these characters & giving them true soul. Every single aspect of these stories pulls me into a magical trance. The emotions are so strong that you can't help but feel it all right along with them. Sure to keep you up until the very end...when she'll be sure to leave you with just enough to have you begging for more! YES PLEASE!! Waiting very anxiously for the next book!!!! ;*D

What an amazing book 2 and I can't wait for book 3 to come out! I read the entire book in two days because I was so drawn in. I was very impressed by the emotional depth of the characters and watching them grow through each of their trials and lessons, especially Michelle. (It brought me back to my younger days!) It is a true talent to capture and fully describe events in a way where you, the reader, are completely drawn in as a part of the story. This second book has so many twists and turns that I didn't expect and I loved learning about south american history and myths. And of course there is the introduction of Jason...LOVE him!
