For years, I accepted that Heven was more popular than me. I never liked it but I lived with it. I walked in her shadow, I stood by her when no one else would. When I finally thought her spotlight was mine things began to change. She began to change. Now she hardly ever calls me back, she spends all her time with her hot new boyfriend and everyone at school thinks she’s back on top. She had it all. But apparently she wants more. She wants Cole – my boyfriend. What’s worse is that it looks like she got him. I’ve had enough and she’s going to be sorry. Why?

This was an okay short story about Kimber, who as usual jumped to a lot of conclusions and was fairly selfish. This story was about how she became a witch, and how she ultimately ended up in hell.
I always wonder about secondary characters in books, what they think about everything and how they react. Sometimes even I find myself loving secondary characters more than the main ones and sometimes I don't like them at all.
Bewitched is the story of Kimber, who is one of the later secondary characters. You just love to hate her. She is your typical spoiled brat who you occasionally feel like slapping. But her story...now that's something you love reading about.
I found myself loving Kimber's point of view through out the whole little story. I loved watching her while she buried herself deep into her problems, always making the wrong move and ending up with even more things to deal with. From the first moment where she thought her boyfriend was cheating till the very last, Kimber managed to keep me wanting more. Her voice is so fun and cocky, yet you manage to see that deep inside she is nothing more but a lonely little girl.
From just 45 or so pages I went from hating Kimber to loving her. Now, that's something to watch out for. Thank you Cambria for the review copy.
I got a copy for review in exchange for an honest review.
As far as short stories go, this one is really good. I like seeing the point of view of Kimber, she certainly wasn't one of my favourite characters in the rest of the books, but seeing from her point of view made me like her more. She likes beauty and popularity, but she also just wants to be cared about.
In this short story we get Kimbers point of view so you have better understanding of some events that happened in Charade. Too bad that sometimes there is a lap in tiem and it took me a few seconds to remember in Charade and what was happening to Kimber then.
To conclude: a good short story and I liked to see Kimbers point of view. There where some time lapse that broke up the pace of the story, but overall it was a quick read and shed some extra light on events in Charade. I can't wait to read the next books and see what happens.
In short, this book was no different than the rest of the series, being that I loved it. Cambria’s ability to write her characters into life is uncanny. Kimber reminds me of the girl in high school that we all couldn’t stand because she was so into herself and clueless about everything else. But as we look back at her actions as adults, we can see that she was also acting out of insecurity and Kimber is no different.
I love the fact that Cambria writes the novella’s in between her full length novels not only because it gives us a little more of the wonderful Heven and Hell series and keeps us going to the next book but also because it gives you more insight and back story into what and why a certain character did in the previous book. You really get to know each character and get a full understanding of the story from all points of view.
In closing, Cambria Hebert has done it again and I can’t wait to read the next FULL installment of the Heven and Hell series.
I Love this book! OMGOSH it's so GOOD!! I love when authors write from different character's points of views it gives us readers more behind the scenes of what really happened but from another perspective and for some it gives more time with our favorite characters! because come on who can't get enough of Kimber? lol Bewitched is fun, addictive and entrancing.. a magical & wicked read from start to finish! Don't believe me? read on and see if you can make it through without being "Bewitched"!
Genre: YA Urban Fantasy (Short Story) Publisher Type: Indie My Rating: * * * *
My Review: This is a fabulous short story best read immediately following book #2, Charade, and reads much like a "deleted scenes" feature on a dvd. True to form, Ms. Hebert's amazing gift for bringing characters and their surroundings to life permeates this brief glimpse into Kimber's experience with the paranormal. The scene where Kimber experiences her powers for the first time was especially well done and I loved getting to know Kimber better; she's got personality in spades! It rocked to finally see how her part in book #2 all played out: how she came to betray those she loved best and how she ended locked up in the dungeons of the underworld. Though quite brief, this was a fantastic addition to the Heven & Hell series. I will note the only thing I didn't love was the limo driver was a bit over the top to me, but other than that, this was one sweet read!!!
Way Favorite Quote: His face was whiter than ever and his limp, lifeless body lay among white and peach roses. I bent down, scooped up my necklace and fastened it around my neck. "They make conditioner for hair like that," I spat then turned away.
Cover Art: I just love the covers to this series, though I miss the gold glitter from the first few covers. Why do I love gold glitter so much on books, I couldn't say? I'm not really a gold glitter girl in real life, but for some reason I'm crazy for it on my book covers! What can I say?
I have to say the cover of this book is so pretty. It lives up the images I have always had in my head of Kimber. This book like the cover was all I expected it to be. Cambria just seems to get better and better with her writing with each book. I loved that we got to get a more indepth view of Kimber's world. I started to feel so sorry for her after reading this novella. It really shows why she was the way she was. I used to not care for Kimber at all but she came to be a character I can tolerate more after reading this book.
Kimber was used to being second best to Heven and thought it was finally her time to shine but then Heven was healed and Kimber went back to being ignored. I really felt that Kimber thought that everything she did was ok because she felt slighted by Heven. I hated that she didn't trust her friend more though and realize she wouldn't treat her badly. I loved that Cambria wrote Kimber's feelings so perfectly. She really made you feel for her and my heart ached at how alone she really was once Heven and Cole became busy.
Overall I loved this book and it was the perfect teaser while I wait for Tirade to be released. I love Cambria's writing style. She just has a way with words and makes everything flow so well. She has a knack for creating characters that you feel for. I loved how detailed she was and the pace of this book was just right. I highly recommend this both to lovers of this series and others that want to know more about this series. It just gets better and better.
I absolutely adore this series. It truly is just one of those fun fabulous series with wonderful characters that are very memorable and have a way of sneaking into your heart and camping out.
And of course I have to mention how much I love this cover, once again it is gorgeous and Cambria has outdone herself!
I loved the idea of this novella. To finally get inside the head of Kimber and be able to see what makes her tick.
After all of her antics in book two, I was dying to read this and see her side of things. And I will be honest, I was really hoping it wasn't as bad as it appeared to be in Charade.
And I am not going to tell you if I was right or not. If Kimber was good, if she is bad. Nope, you will have to read it for yourself.
I will say this though, this novella was awesome and just left me wanting book three NOW! I can't wait to see what happens next. To see who lives, to see who dies.
As always, Cambria has done a fabulous job with this one and I give it a very solid 4 Stars!!
Although Kimber is quite a bitchy character I didn't find her difficult to get on with when reading this short novella, in fact the story made me understand her motives more and how she was misled, but then I guess that was the point lol. Bewitched tells select 'in between' scenes of Charade from Kimber's perspective, there is a few instances of jumping ahead which makes the book a little less fluid but not less enjoyable. I'd strongly recommend reading Charade before you pick this up if you prefer to avoid spoilers but its not one to be missed either as it answered a lot of questions I had when I'd finished reading Charade and I think it makes a great little addition to the series.
Favourite quote 'Finding out what was going on with Heven and Cole was a definite must, but getting hacked into little pieces by some stalker wouldn't accomplish that. And it would ruin my hair.'
Talk about best friend from hell! This chick is on a whole other level. She’s not my favorite character, so I had a bit of a hard time getting through this one. But there are key scenes that answer some questions from scenes in Charade. And Cambria was spot on with how she brought this character to life. Kimber is very vivid, like her aura, and she jumps off the page. Let’s see if she can get her shine back. Tirade, here I come.
Bewitched is book 2.5 in the Heven and Hell Series. I really liked Bewitched and can't wait to continue with the series. I liked seeing what Kimber was going.
“Four stars: An engaging look at Heven and Hell's most memorable character.
Kimber has it all: money, popularity, handsome boyfriend, good looks, designer clothes and an impeccable taste in fashion. Yet, for some reason other people didn't get the memo and she is not at the top of the heap. Soon her world comes crashing down when she discovers Cole, her boyfriend, with Heven. No one cheats on her and gets away with it, especially if it is her best friend. Seething with anger, Kimber encounters a beautiful woman in a cloak who promises Kimber her heart's desire if she helps her with one small favor. At first, the headstrong Kimber declines. She isn't stupid after all, but then she wavers. Soon she is striking a deal with the devil and she finds that getting what she wants this time comes at steep price. Can Kimber redeem herself, or is it too late?
What I Liked: *Kimber has always been one of my favorite characters in the Heven and Hell series. Sure, she is spoiled rotten, prone to jealousy and not exactly a good best friend, but there is just something about her that draws you in. She has sass, spunk, and she is downright funny. I thoroughly loved getting an entire novella told through Kimber's eyes. Kimber isn't the most likeable character, but she is snarky and some of the things that come out of her mouth made me laugh. She is a great contrast to Heven, who tends to be the good girl. I only hope that things turn around for her. I would even love to have an entire book told from perspective just because she is funny. *I enjoyed that this filled in the blanks for many of the events in Charade. In this novella, we learn how Kimber is swayed and why she ends up acting the way she did and how her poor decision landed her in trouble. I admit, I actually felt sorry for her after reading her story. She might appear to have it all, but in reality she is an insecure and lonely girl. One whose parents tend to throw money toward and ignore instead of spending time with her. *I enjoyed Cambria's writing and especially liked seeing this all new side of her in this novella. She never ceases to amaze me.
And the Not So Much: *This is definitely a novella that you must read after you read Charade (Heven and Hell Book #2). If you pick this one up without knowing the back story you will be lost. I admit, it has been a few months and my memory was a bit fuzzy regarding the events in Charade so even I was a bit confused. You can easily avoid this by reading the whole series. *I always feel this way about novellas, I like that they are a quick read, one you can do in a sitting, but I always hate that they are so short. Indeed this was the case. I was really getting into Kimber's story and laughing at her one liners and then it was over. I personally want more of Kimber.
Bewitched is a fun little novella perfect for the Halloween season. It has witches, demons and even a boney dude! I loved seeing things through Kimber's eyes. She is full of fire. This is another great addition to the Heven and Hell Series.
Favorite Quotations:
“But Hell-ooo everyone knows that redheads are better than blondes.
Unfortunately, no one seemed to get that memo, either.”
“Finding out what was going on with Heven and Cole was a definite must, but getting hacked into little pieces by some stalker wouldn’t accomplish that. And it would mess up my hair.”
“Being brave when I only thought there was a stalker had been easy, but now that I was faced with one (one who looked supciously like the Grim Reaper) made me want to pee my pants. but I wouldn’t because these pants were too nice to ruin like that.”
“It was time for a little payback. And as far as I knew, payback couldn’t be bought at Walmart (wouldn’t that be convenient.”
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for this review and all opinions expressed are my own.” Posted @ Rainy Day Ramblings.
Kimber is so selfish, and spoiled, and just an all around unpleasant person. I was a little unsure after reading Masquerade after her blowing up at Heaven down by the lake. Then came Charade, and after that utter betrayal my face might have looked something like this *~*. Then Cambria Hebert announced that we would be seeing things from Kimber's point of view. I was like, "Okay, maybe we'll find a deeper reason as to why she would hate Heaven other then jealousy of her rank in popularity. NOPE!!! Kimber has always hated Heaven just because she was more popular then her. Not only that, but after Heaven tells Kimber repeatedly that nothing was going on between her poor boyfriend Cole and her, she refuses to believe it. Then, she simply trust the QUEEN OF WITCHES like it's nothing. Ugh. You can't see it, but right now, I've got my Kindle out, and I'm on the cover page, chastising Kimber for being horrible. Give me a minute ..... You selfish...... Of all the people to trust.......That scroll wasn't even Hecate's to begin with.......Popularity isn't everything......Gosh, why would you do this?!?!?!? 'k I'm done. Anyway I'm giving this book four stars, really three point five is not because I didn't like Kimber's attitude because Cambria Hebert portrayed that very well and I also love her writing style, but because the one scene I really wanted to see from Kimber's point of view where Heaven explains to Kimber that Cole and her are brother and sister, you don't get to see. utter sadness. Plus, on the plane riding back from Italy, she says that to smooth things over with Heaven, she'll buy her some new boots. HAHAHAGHHA....haha.hehe.heha That was hilarious, but still If she was to betray me the same way she did to the rest of them, the next time I see her, I wouldn't wait for Kimber to give me her apology boots, I would be punching her in the face. I wanted to see some growth in Kimber. Some realization that what she did was unforgivable, but she never truly gets it. I'm waiting for Tirade, but as of right now, to me, Kimber is a lost cause. R. I. P. Kimber's moral compass
She held out her hand, her blood-red lips curving into a smile. I put my hand in hers. It was the beginning of my downfall.
I love these little insights that Cambria Hebert gives us, through these novellas, of the secondary characters in the Heven and Hell series. Even though they're not classed as main characters, they all have a great impact on the story.
Bewitched is Kimba's story and takes us through the events that lead from her being Heven's best friend to completely betraying those that she claims to love. I actually really liked Kimber at the start of the series, but she slowly eroded that. And now I'm torn. There is that part of me that feels some sympathy for her. Her parents are absent most of the time and think that they can make up for that with money. But that being said, that was pretty much where my sympathy ended. Kimba is quite self centred and superficial and having her story told through her eyes really highlights that. She had a boyfriend and friends who loved her and instead of having trust in what they told her she takes the option of betrayal by delving into darkness. But then as things spiralled out of control I really hated to see what was happening to her and found myself right back to caring for her again. I'm so confused!!
Cambria Hebert's writing is as always, fantastic. I'm just sorry that it took me so long to get around to reading this because I truly love this series!!
I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH!!! I’ve been saying since the first book that I didn’t trust Kimber. In this short story, you get to see why she is the way she is. People make bad decisions when they think they are being betrayed. And her loneliness only feeds into her negativity. For someone so vain, she has several insecurities.
This story is mean to be read after Charade, even though you get insight from the stories before. Kimber’s parents are pretty much the worst parents. They buy her things to keep from actually seeing her. Which leads me to this… I don’t fault Kimber for her feelings. I understand that she doesn’t have it so easy. But I do fault her for her choices. Two wrongs never make a right. But I understand why she makes them. I actually love Kimber as a character, and in the end, she learns a lot from her choices.
so, if it were you, would you forgive Kimber for the things she’s done? Could you ever trust her? Would you let her back into your life, even at an arms length? Is that fair to only be partially committed to your friendship, since you can’t seem to trust her. I don’t know if I could. I’m good about forgiveness, but I don’t forget, ever. I don’t know if I could let her back into my life.
so with that said, you’ll have to read and make your own decisions! I seriously love this series and I’m SALIVATING to get my hands on Tirade… CAM HURRY!!! I will stop harassing you about WEENIES so you can write faster!! Hahahaha 5 PAWS!!
When I learned that I was getting an ARC of this book I actually jumped about my bedroom I was that excited! This book was SO short but SO good! It really packs a punch for how short it was! I loved that it was from Kimber's point of view after we learned so much about her in Masquerade and Charade! I also loved that I got to feel what Kimber felt at certain points in Charade and it also helped me understand her more! I saw Kimber go from fragile to vengeful and then to desperate in 42 pages which was amazing! My emotions went from sadness to excitement while reading this book! I felt so sorry for Kimber when she thought that Heven and Cole had slept together and then I got seriously excited as I was getting to the end of the story as I didn't want it to end but it was so good at the same time! I was looking for a bit more Heven and Sam through Bewitched but I can't really complain though because they were mentioned a lot throughout this story! The ending makes me want Tirade EVEN more than I did before! The cover is absolutely stunning as well! Big thank you to Cambria for the ARC!
This all started because I had felt betrayed and alone. Yet, here I was, more alone and betrayed than ever.
Kimber is a simple girl who just wants everything. Cast in Heven's shadow, she struggles to find a way to get what she wants - people to like her the most. It's not that she doesn't like Heven, but she knew she was meant for greater things, and seeing Heven get everything she's always wanted... well, that just rubbed Kimber the wrong way. So, Kimber did what anyone in her position would - took matters inter her own hands.
Followers of the series will know that Kimber has been around since Before. As Heven's best friend, she's very much a part of Heven's life. Until the day she isn't. Hurt, Kimber makes a deal she doesn't understand with a person she doesn't know.
The characters are what really drives the story. Kimber's larger than life personality takes over the pages and grabs the reader in. While readers of the other books may know the ultimate outcome of her actions, seeing Kimber's side of it gives a whole new appreciation/understanding of what she's going through.
Short, dark, and full of emotion, Bewitched fills the gaps with "Kimber logic" and sets the stage for more drama to come.
Kimber has grown to be one of the my most likable character in the series, her bubbly personality is what attracts me to her character and I was always entertained to read about her friendship with Heven, they reminded me about my relationship with my own best friend.
However in Bewitched, I saw a side of Kimber that I never thought existed.
Insecure, betrayed and alone.
Those are a few words that should not exist in Kimber's dictionary, however I couldn't help but felt for her as she went through what she thought was Cole's and Heven's betrayal. She made bad choices, yet it didn't affect my affection towards her! I couldn't wait to see how everything plays out.
Once again, Cambria has managed to pull me into her enthralling world of paranormal with just merely a few pages. Isn't she awesome?
Tirade comes out November this year, so keep your eyes open!
This was Awesome add to the Heven and hell series, Cambria delivers in Bewitched her writing skill are Fabolous.,Kimber really, show off her anger and jealousy, she can no longer try to pertend she is happy around Heven... kimber think's haven betrayed her .and she want revenge in the worst way . WoW we get to see how ,Kimber came to be Bewitched and how strong her power' are..and we get to feel how she feel when she around her bff Haven. and really you would never think kimber feel like that, not her popular well dress rich ..but deep down she is lonely and hurting ..bring her to why she make's the decision she makes throughout the book's .that was good fast read I try to put no spoiler. All you Heven & Hell fan hear comes and Awesome book to the Series,
This novella is a great addition to the Heven and Hell series. I love the way Cambria uses short stories and novellas to link her books together. I don't recommend skipping them. This one is interesting because it is from a different p.o.v. than the other books. I also love the quick dose of these characters while waiting for the next book.
I really enjoyed this look into Kimber's inner thoughts and feelings. I'm a sucker for anything magical, so having Hecate and all her dark magic weaved throughout this book was a sure fire way to get my attention.
Bewitched was a quick read which held my interest and left me wanting more!
ok this is another short story and i will start off saying i loved it. it was a story that i couldn't put down until i finished it. if you haven't read any of this series or haven't read this book you should. i want to thank Cambria Hebert for sharing this wonderful short story with me.
