I am a knight. To be precise, I am the Church of the God of Light’s Sun Knight.
The Church of the God of Light worships and serves the God of Light, and theirs is one of the three largest religions on this continent.
As the whole continent knows, the Church of the God of Light has the Twelve Holy Knights, and each one has his own unique personality and features.
To be the Sun Knight is to have shining golden hair, sky blue eyes, a compassionate nature, and a brilliant smile.
“The benevolent God of Light will forgive your sins.”
I must have said that line at least a million times in my time as the Sun Knight.
However, the greatest wish in my life is to be able to stand before the entire continent and roar, “Damn your ‘the whole continent knows’! This Sun Knight just doesn’t feel like smiling! I just don’t want to forgive these human trashes! I just want to pepper my sentences with ‘f***’!”
Unfortunately, even to this day, I continue to wear a smile as I say, “The benevolent God of Light will forgive your sins.”

Earth’s face froze, and he turned his head to ask Storm, “Do I have to be here to watch him bathe?”
“Captain Judgment wanted us to watch over Sun,” Storm quietly assessed. “So you have two options. Number one, violate Knight-Captain Judgment’s orders. Number two, see Sun’s naked body.”
“…F***!”
F*** what? In any case, I am actually a fair and beautiful man, with a head of long blond hair, and now because of sleeping for half a year I am malnourished and too thin. Simply by looking at my figure from behind, I might actually look very much like a lady…Wait a minute! Come to think of it, later on when I bathe, there will be three men staring at me?
F***!

This book was blissfully hilarious, as were the previous volumes, but also very serious. Okay so: a bit of a warning. This review actually contains spoilers for the previous book! I couldn't avoid it, sadly!

Following the freaking cliffhanger from the previous books, this one continues half a year later. Sun has - in those past few months - actually gone insane. And the moment he wakes up, everyone still believes that he is insane as an effect of the spell they used on him. Side effects being: randomly shouting, having nightmares, and desperately trying to kill himself (even acting that he was sane so he could off himself). This put all of the knights on edge, not to mention the pressure they faced from other parties.

After all, the Demon King turned back to the candidate, and he cannot control darkness unless Grisia dies. And as he was insane, and coulnd't challenge DK, this was the situation.

And thus begins the quest for Grisia (now fully aware) to confront the DK, along with his band of missnamed Knight Captains and one vice captain.

“Henceforth, we’re not allowed to use the titles Sun, Storm, Metal, and Moon. We’ll just directly call each other by our real names. Is that okay?”
“Only you would have a problem with that!” Metal… No, rather, Laica yelled, “If you dare to continue calling me Slime, you better watch out! I’m Laica!”
Everyone reported their names one-by-one.
“I’m Ceo!” Ceo smiled extremely radiantly, seeming to hint that if I were to call his name wrongly one more time, he was going to make me meet my “death”!
“I’m Vival.” Moon repeated it seriously, “Vi. Va. L. And definitely not ‘Voila’!”
If you read Vival a little faster, isn’t it “Voila”? I only read it a little too fast, that’s all!
“Tyler.” Tyler helplessly said, “Knight-Captain Sun, please don’t call me Tyre anymore.”

And this quote actually summarizes the entire series so well:

Storm glared at me. “For this entire year, first it was you going blind, then it was Judgment dying, and then you dying. Even after you were revived, you were in an insane state. Hell Knight becoming the Demon King, lands of death encroaching further and further, the Cathedral of the Shadow God wanting you dead… Which one of these is not earth-shattering? It’s not easy to scare us nowadays!”

And finally: everyone mistaking Sun for a woman. That was interesting.

“Sun, you are still so…” He laughed, shook his head, and said, “How in the world should I describe you?”
I suggested, “You can say that I am astonishingly wise and astute!”
“You are shameless and despicable!” Laica roared.
Laica, you’re not a princess! Only princesses like to describe me with ‘shameless’ and ‘despicable.’

Only one book left... Sigh.. I don't want it to end.

Almost close to the end! This is all about Sun Knight and his fate as the Demon King candidate. The land is almost taken over by darkness and he has to move fast, but it does not help that he was in a coma where he also tried to off himself with every chance.

But now Sun is back up and running and going to the Cathedreal of the Shadow God for the final showdown! In this novel, we get to see more of usual Sun's knack for plotting and holding secrets left and right to reach the conclusion he wants. You can see it coming, but it is still so nice to actually see Sun back at his old habits and not only being a straight laced person.

There are some wholesome scenes in this volume and Roland is truly a sweetheart! The novel ends with a twist, like almost all the later ones, but the 8th volume will be the last to end this whole saga!

After reading the last book, I thought nothing could surprise me anymore.
I've never been so wrong.

Ở trong tình huống làm Ma vương, Sun không còn lựa chọn nào khác cả. Nếu từ bỏ vị trí ứng cử viên thì Sun sẽ hoàn toàn mất đi khả năng sử dụng ma pháp. Vì phải trả giá cho ba lần dùng phép hồi sinh trước đó, cậu đã bị mù, mất màu vàng của tóc, và mất khả năng hội tụ thánh quang.

Vậy nên, nếu không còn năng lực cảm ứng, bị tước bỏ sức mạnh ứng viên, thì Sun sẽ bị mù thật. Một Sun Knight như thế, thì liệu còn có khả năng gánh vác trọng trách và công việc cho Điện thánh không? Tất nhiên là không thể rồi...

Vậy nên chỉ còn cách trở thành Ma vương mà thôi. Chỉ khi trở thành Ma vương, thì Grisia mới có đủ sức mạnh để có thể tiếp tục làm Sun Knight được.

Phải nói đây là bộ fantasy mình yêu thích nhất trong năm nay. Ai là fan của fantasy thì mình nghĩ nhất định phải thử đọc “Mệnh kỵ sĩ”. Series này được đánh giá hơn 4 sao trên Goodreads.
Mình biết đến “Mệnh kỵ sĩ” khá muộn. Tình cờ được bạn cho mượn đọc thì mình mới biết là có một bộ fantasy hay như thế mà mình lại chưa hề nghe đến. Lúc mình đi tìm mua thì tập 1 của series này không còn bán trên các sàn thương mại điện tử nên mình phải lặn lội lên các group bán sách cũ, và cuối cùng cũng tìm được người bán đủ bộ.

“Mệnh kỵ sĩ” là câu chuyện kể về cuộc sống và tình đồng đội của 12 thánh kỵ sĩ. Truyện được kể theo ngôi thứ nhất, đứng dưới góc nhìn của Sun Knight. Có hai điểm mình thích nhất ở series này:

- Truyện cực kì hài hước. Mình đảm bảo cho dù tâm trạng của bạn có đang chìm sâu trong hố đen tăm tối hay tuyệt vọng thế nào thì đọc bộ này xong không thể nhịn cười được. Văn phong của tác giả này vô cùng đặc biệt. Nó khiến độc giả đọc đến đâu cười đến đấy, đứng ở chỗ đông người thì đúng là khổ luôn (chắc tại đang đọc sách mà đột nhiên cười há há thì sợ mọi người nghĩ mình điên quá :))) Đọc nhiều truyện hài rồi nhưng đây là bộ fantasy duy nhất khiến mình cười mất kiểm soát như thế :))))

- “Mệnh kỵ sĩ” không chỉ đơn thuần là giải trí mà nó đem đến cho mình rất nhiều ý nghĩa về việc con người phải đeo lên một chiếc mặt nạ khác với tính cách bên trong, về khả năng lãnh đạo, về tình đồng đội, về đức tin, thậm chí là cả những sự thật đằng sau câu chuyện dũng sĩ giệt rồng, giải cứu công chúa, đánh bại ma vương,…

Ngoài ra thì hình thức truyện rất đẹp, bên trong được vẽ minh họa nhìn thích lắm.
Truyện rất dễ đọc, phù hợp với những ai yêu thích fantasy và khao khát có được những trận cười xả láng nhé.
