Ali has been hiding in an attic since civilisation collapsed eight weeks ago.

When the plague hit, her neighbours turned into mindless, hungry, homicidal maniacs.

Daniel has been a loner his entire life. Then the world empties and he realises that being alone isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Finn is a former cop who is desperate for companionship, and willing to do anything it takes to protect the survivors around him.

When the three cross paths they band together; sparks fly, romance blooms in the wasteland and Ali, Daniel and Finn bend to their very human needs in the ruins of civilisation.

Lust, love and trust all come under fire in Flesh as the three band together to survive, hunted through the suburban wastelands.

A smutty version of "The Walking Dead" where Rick and Darryl share a girlfriend. I don't mean it is fanfic, I just mean that if you watch or read The Walking Dead, but wish there was sex in it, this book is for you.

We have Ali, our girl who is afraid of everything, found by Dan, a super funny and likable character. They get together and are traveling during the Zombie Apocalypse when they run into a gang that wants to steal Ali and kill Dan. Luckily, Finn, an ex-cop, has been watching these two and he saves their lives.

How do you pay back the guy who saved you and your girlfriend's lives? Share your girlfriend with him, of course! That is why cops and firefighters get all the women they want. It is just polite to have sex with the person who saves you.

Sorry, but I need to go set something on fire now, so this review is over.

I don’t do horror.

Let’s put it this way: If you wanted to torture me, strapping me to a chair and forcing me to watch any one of the bloody “let’s kill people slowly and painfully” gore fests that pass for entertainment these days would be the way to do it. State secrets? Yeah—they’d be secrets no more.

So…when I first heard of “Flesh” in passing, I thought to myself, nuh-uh.

But I have to say, once I read the excerpt, I was hooked. Kylie Scott is an author who has an excellent “voice”. Her prose is clean, witty, and grips you from page 1 and never lets go.

Although a post-apocalyptic world is the backdrop of this story, the focus is primarily on the relationships between the heroine Ali and her two men, Daniel and Finn.

Did I just say TWO men? Why, yes I did. ;-)

Confession #2: I don’t do ménage either. At least I THOUGHT I didn’t. But let’s face it, as Daniel aptly puts it, the world has changed, and so have the rules. And as the story unfolded, and I was introduced to these very different, yet equally attractive men, I started to understand how Ali could fall for them both.

Daniel is early forties, tall, tattooed and broad shouldered, with baby blues and just a touch of gray peppering his dark hair. Uh, yum! So if you like the whole older man/younger woman thing like me, there ya go.

Finn is twenty-something, blond, beautiful, and a bad-ass. He’s got soft green eyes and a take charge attitude, both in bed and out of it. He’s also a few years younger than the heroine Ali, so if you’re into the older woman/younger man scenario, you’re covered too. Something for everyone.

The sex is hot, and let me just clarify that although this is a ménage, both men are focused solely on Ali and never on each other, if you get my drift. ;-)

As for the gore, there are some gory parts, but if you’re like me and hate horror flicks, that may just work in your favor. I found that since my mind doesn't have all these gory images lurking around in there, the bloody parts of the book ended up being somewhat whitewashed and glossed over. I’m not making any guarantees that it will be the same for anyone else, but that’s how it was for me.

So, in conclusion, whether you're into “The Walking Dead” or…not, I recommend you give this entertaining erotic romance a try.

5 Love in the Apocalypse Stars ⭐

Desolation, zombies, love, and let's not forget two men to see to your needs and protection. So okay, I loved this. I utterly enjoyed the struggles caused by the end of humanity, the dangers associated with bloodthirsty savages, and of course the steamy moments with two men desperate for the taste of their woman.

"The virus had made monsters of everyone."

With the end of the world upon them, a virus has eliminated most of the population and zombies are the final straw. Ali, has been hidden in an attic for weeks, but when lack of food becomes dire, she's forced to step outside.

Daniel has been out on his own since shit went down; so excuse him if he's a little overexcited to find a woman, and a pretty one at that. But Ali isn't pleased to play Eve to his Adam, even if she is tired of being scared and alone. And she will soon realize that Daniel is far too irresistible to resist. A stranger that provides security, as well as much needed comfort.

"Since you’re in such an agreeable mood we could have sex to celebrate. That would be nice. A real bonding experience."

With a lot of negotiations and a tentative exchange in trust, Ali agrees to accompany Daniel to safer lands. Except the situation soon goes pear shaped. And to their good fortune, they are aided by Finn, another man who is seeking companionship.

Where Daniel may have laid dibs on Ali, he is also pragmatic. In a new world where everything and everyone is fair game, he knows there is safety in numbers. And if that means Ali being shared between himself and Finn to keep her safe, than that's what will be done.

So I can only say that this story was hot hot. Once Ali gets on board with this new arrangement, this relationship gets a whole lot more intimate and oddly romantic.

Buddy read with Tom, Sarah, and a whole buncha others. Erotic zombie post apocalyptic cray-cray....bring it on!!!!

************************************************
"Humans are social creatures. I didn't realize how much until nearly everyone was gone."

Ali has been hiding for months in the upstairs floor of her neighbor's house. (because zombies can't climb) Civilization has crumbled, and she has locked herself away in order to survive. When she goes on one of her rare outings to find food, she runs into Dan. Dan is starved for human companionship...and let's face it, sex. Not a lot of women around after the fall of modern society. (Which is never explained...one BIG question mark!)

I loved, love, LOVED Dan! He's just a big lonely, funny, horny guy. He tends to look on the bright side of life, regardless of the situation they're in. Dan's dialogue is so full of one liners, I could probably quote him for pages.

"Tell me I'm right again. Slowly this time. Really draw out the words, play it up for me. Feel free to pant in between if it feels natural."

and

"Why can't you give me a straight answer?"
"Why can't you ride me like a pony?" He scowled straight back at her, unrepentant. "Don't pretty girls like ponies? I thought they did."

After Dan convinces Ali that he's not out to rape and pillage, the two decide to stick together. Problem is, Dan is so smitten that he can't seem to keep his mind out of the gutter long enough to protect his female. (insert chest beating here)

And in steps Finn. Finn's a younger guy...mid twenties and used to be a cop. He's the serious protector that Dan and Ali need, and Dan somewhat reluctantly accepts his help.

I knew going in that this included zombies in a post-apocalyptic world, erotica, and three main characters...hmmm...erotica-->two guys and a girl. Hmmm...wonder what's gonna happen.

"Someone needed to run her out of town, pin a nice big red "A" on her chest. Pity the only two people around to see it seemed to be encouraging the behaviour..."

Silly girl! What two guys in a godless, lawless world wouldn't take advantage and tag team your a**? Pulease!!!

So I have to be honest, I went into this just wanting something fun and different, which is why I think I enjoyed it so much. It's certainly no life altering story full of deep revelations of the human spirit. But it was fun and fairly fast paced, and sexy as hell!

I love post apocalyptic worlds. I love the slight differences that authors use to explain away the zombie virus and how they each portray or barbaric world when we are reduced to mere survival instincts. I think if there was one glaring deletion from this book, it was the world building. I wanted more zombie!!! Ali, Dan, and Finn are immersed in scary, running from zombies and rape-happy groups of men, hiding in high places at night. But other than as a setup for the book, there wasn't a lot of description and explanation. I wish there had been more. More description of the days following the zombie takeover and more of an idea of what the future holds.

Despite the lack of wow factor in the world building, I was thoroughly entertained. I don't suggest reading this unless your in the mood for silly and unrealistic. But it was all in good fun, and I'll definitely be moving on to the next book!!

1 skinny, anorexic, starving, zombie dick star.

What did I expect when all that the main characters think about is having sex. Hellooo, Zombie freaking Apocalypse go get some freaking canned foods and run away to the country side! You're doing it wrong! WAIT, at least they had condoms. RIGHT? AM I RIGHT? PRIORITIES.

My reasons why I disliked this book so much:

1. Terrible writing. If you're going to write a Zombie book, do it right. If you're going to write an erotica, do it right. This writing was below average. I rather shove a stick up my butt than read badly written characters and plot!

2. Whining, annoying, extremely irritating main character. Seriously, I've read MUCH better Zombie books where the main characters are 16 years old. You're freaking 26, grow the fuck up. It's the end of the world, stop screwing two guys. I know, I know, it's the end of the world, but it was just so hard to connect with the main character when she's such a fucking idiot. She's 26, she makes dumb 15 year old decisions! She acts more like a baby than my puppy! ( Who is really demanding.)

3. Love interest was so forced. Seriously, I rather have my dog pee on my bed then read Adult insta-love. YES OK, it's the end of the world, but why do they have to act like such horny teenagers? Both of the guys were written so badly, zero character depth. Just like the main character. The words 'I love you' were just thrown at eachother like it didn't mean a thing only that they had great orgasms. *shudder*. And it should've put more depth.

I wish they all died. Ugh.
I don't read eroticas, at all. But this was a zombie one, I thought it would be more zombies, but alas, I was wrong. It was just a book about badly written sex that I skimmed through cause *cough* ahem, don't really care about the main characters. Just wanted to see if anyone would die. Unfortunately, no one died.

I think I have a new favorite genre: Post-Apocalyptic Erotica

Flesh is a well-written, witty, action packed and highly erotic story of basic survival and raw gritty love. Daniel, Ali and Finn stick together and fight against these:

description

And soon form an unconventional relationship that includes a lot of this, but WAY steamier:
description

Daniel and Finn both love Ali and she loves them and the relationship the three of them have is the heart of this story. It moved me, I loved their commitment to one another and the sacrifices they made for companionship and love, even in a scary world full of the "infected"

Zombies ain't pretty:

But this story is pretty damn good!

2.5 Stars.

Grrr, I was so damn sure I was going to love this book. I don't really know what happened to be honest.
I kept finding myself skimming here and there too, which is never a good thing.
I wanted to rate this book higher, but as my problems with it piled higher and higher, I just couldn't. I have to be honest.

What I absolutely adored about this book was Daniel. He's such an amazing guy. I loved how he called Ali 'his girl'. *swoon*
I couldn't really see why he was so attracted to her really, bar the fact that she's the only woman he's come across in two months, there wasn't anything outstnading about her.
Dan was so wonderfully sweet, bursting with excitement at just having someone to talk to again.

My happiness was short lived because then Finn came along. Finn was/is a cop, who's 15 years younger than Dan (41) and seemed like an arrogant prick. I was right, he is.
He was following Dan and Ali around for days, ranting on about how he could protect the woman (Ali) better than this guy. Then within ten minutes of meeting her, he's mooning at her and calling her 'Al' which annoyed the shit out of me. Who gives someone a nickname after knowing them for half an hour? Also her name's Ali, is there really any need to shorten it?

The sex scenes were good, but not out of this world. Then there's the condom issue.
They're getting all hot and sweaty and I'm having this long-arse conversation in my head... don't laugh ;)
Wow, if it's the apocalypse then I guess people priorities have changed, I doubt people are carrying condoms around in their wallets or pockets anymore. And I doubt the chemist is open now so the pill's out too. What would you do from now on then? I guess you'd just have to pull out and hope for the best, no?
But wait, what? Oh okay, he has a condom in his bag? Phew, what a relief.
It's a little unbelievable. When packing a bag of only the most important things that could possibly end up saving your life, I doubt condoms are at the top of said list. This happens repeatedly throughout the book and it doesn't get any less annoying.

The ménage relationship just felt... wrong! I pride myself on being very open-minded. The thought of three people in a relationship doesn't bother me at all. It was the way that Finn completely shit Dan out and vice versa. It made the scenes very uncomfortable for me to read :(

Towards the end of the book the action really picked up, which was fantastic.
The very last sex scene of the book was amazing. Dan and Finn were so much more comfortable and relaxed around each other. But then it was ruined by this... They're planning a baby or she might already be pregnant. What the hell? One, they've hardly been together a few months by this point and are barley a functioning threesome. Also, bringing a baby into a post-apocalyptic world, where zombies are roaming, feasting on human flesh? What a wonderful place to raise a baby? Stupid!

I feel so awful, ranting about this book when there were some really great things about it too. I would advise people to just read it and you can decide for yourselves :)

This popped up in my recommended books after reading Lick, and after reading the synopsis and seeing words like "plague" and "erotica" followed by "m/f/m", I clicked the "Download Sample" button and went in kinda like this...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

And this book surprised me! It did. For erotica, it's pretty well-written. You expect erotica books to be just snippets of weak story strung together by sex scenes, and there is quite a bit of sex in this book, but the story itself is also engaging, which kinda throws you for a loop, all things considered. The characterization was interesting, though I felt Scott spent more time developing Daniel and Finn than she did on making Ali even remotely sympathetic. I adored Daniel, and Finn was the quintessential alpha, but Ali bugged me a bit. She didn't act 32. I'm 32. I kept thinking Ali was more along the lines of 18-22. The constant references to her "rabbity" feelings got a wee bit irritating, as well. Still, I was surprised that I was able to come to grips with the relationship between the three of them. Usually you think relationships like that are doomed to end, and you're sitting there wondering how they can possibly pull it off...but the bond the three of them forge while trying to survive makes their sexual relationship completely plausible to the reader. Scott delivers a scenario that actually makes sense; women are now commodities, highly valued, and a woman having more than one lover is more sane than everything else that's going on in the world.

Just keep in mind that this is erotica. If you're looking for deep literature, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a zombie story with threesomes, this is your book.

Turns out I'm a TOTAL sucker for polyamorous postapocalyptic romance.

Which I guess I knew already, because Eve Dangerfield's Taunt is also one of those (well, almost) and that's one of my all-time favourite books. Really it comes down to characterisation, and Kylie Scott has hit a home run here.

32-year-old Ali has been hiding in the attic ever since the apocalypse went down and zombies took over the world. It's not clear how they started, exactly - some sort of plague - but basically, everyone she knows is dead and she's surviving off cereal bars while crouching with the rats. Enter 41-year-old Daniel, a brash and charming ex-mechanic who's determined to keep Ali safe. Though she resists initially, she's not stupid, and the two end up partnering together while heading off to look for a safe place to live.

Unbeknownst to them, they're being watched by 26-year-old Finn, a former police officer who desperately wants Ali for himself. He gets his chance when he saves the couple from a bunch of thugs. Daniel, ever crafty, quickly realises that the best way to ensure Finn is invested in Ali's protection... is by inviting him into their bed.

While I LOVE dub-con, this is actually a lot less dub-con than it perhaps sounds - Ali is shy but attracted to Finn. He meanwhile feels like all his dreams have come through, but there's drama to come as he has to work out how he fits into their 'coupledom', especially when they realise other single females still exist.

✔️ I really love the way Scott has characterised them. Finn, despite being the youngest, is cool and ruthless, while older Daniel is the laid-back fun-loving one. I massively enjoyed this role reversal. Ali meanwhile is scared but understandably so, and works through it believably without being stupid. All three of them have a great dynamic together.

✔️ The MFM aspect is handled very well. There's real internal emotional exploration of what it would mean for them, not just 'let's suddenly become a threesome'. And no M/M which is a real bonus for me. (This seems like as good a moment as any to announce that I loathe the word 'throuple'...)

✔️ There's fast-paced action, though the romance to some extent takes precedence. I can see diehard zombie-apocalypse fans being disappointed at the relative lack of gore.

I wish there were more books in this series - it seems like Erin was going to get her own MFM book, which alas no longer appears to be the case.

4 stars! Sexy, charming, and well written, but needs more zombies.

“I like you cranky,” he said. “I like you cuddly.”
“Are you trying to be Dr. Seuss?”
“Only if you find his works sexually arousing.”
She snorted. “No. Not really.”
“Probably for the best.”

Since the zombie-virus ripped humanity a new one 8 weeks age, Ali has been hidden in her neighbor's attic, slowly working her way into agoraphobia and in desperate need of a shower. She only leaves to scavenge for supplies. The zombies tend to be lethargic during the day and hunt mostly at night, but there's still other survivors to deal with - roving gangs of violent psychos who are only too happy to fuck shit up.

So when she runs into an armed mountain of a man, she's understandably a little freaked.

She shrieked every insult known to woman and man, fighting him off with all she had. “You fucker! You motherfucking cock-sucking asshole. Get your fucking hands off me! Get off me!”

Meet Daniel! He's thrilled to meet another human survivor, especially of the non-psychopathic variety. Ali doesn't want to make friends, even once she understands Daniel has no interest in hurting her. She hasn't even seen another human in months. Trust isn't exactly second nature to her anymore. Daniel still makes his case with Ali; they are better off having each other to watch each others backs. They need humanity where it is scarce.

And if some sexy times happen, that's all well and good too.

They need a pack, a family.

And who better to round out their little family of survivors than Finn, ex-cop and muscled badass. Who also has a raging boner for Ali. And try as she might, Ali finds her self very attracted to both Daniel's soft care and humor & Finn's ruthless protective instincts.

What's a girl to do?

If you can't tell already, I really enjoyed this one! It's always hard to find really developed M/F/M relationships in erotica - a lot of times you run into nonstop jealousy or just shallow cardboard characters. This really worked for me, because the characters acknowledge that they might get jealous. They might fight, squabble, have make-up sex, and do it all over again. Daniel's first choice wouldn't be to share Ali. But he likes Finn - and he would be an idiot to send a capable fighter away, especially one who wants to protect his gal.

Once it's clear that Ali wants them both, there's no point in fighting it.

And I liked Ali's scrappiness! She starts out so scared - her instinct is to hide, not to turn and fight. But she's willing to learn, and she's not about to roll over and die. She's a survivor, whether that means hiding, learning to shoot, or throwing herself down a flight of stairs to escape.

She lay there and cried from relief and horror both as the sunset faded and the infected gathered below.

I did want more zombie action! As is often the case in zombie stories, the humans are more of a threat that the undead people eaters, but they didn't feel quite present enough for me. I wanted to feel that constant threat. Although I will say, that the final 10-15% was quite zombified, and I was pleased.

Overall? One of the better eroticas I've read. Certainly the best post-apocalyptic, end of civilization, menage, Australian, zombie erotica I've found. Like The Walking Dead with significantly more boning, but sadly no Daryl Dixon.

Everything needs some Daryl.

Holy crap. This book was FANFREAKINGTASTIC

I've gotta be honest. I picked this up for its novelty. I've been known to like a post apocalyptic book here and there. I've enjoyed a few zombie books. Erotica has certainly taken up a good amount of my reading material lately. But all three together? How it the heck was that going to work out? As it turns out, it works out amazingly well.

I've got to give huge props to Kylie Scott. She managed to write characters that I loved almost immediately, without really knowing anything about them. Seriously, within the first few pages of meeting Dan, I would have let him cart me anywhere he wanted to go.

" You promised to behave," he scolded. "Bad girl."
"Fuck you."
"Good idea, I love where you're going with that. But let's say we talk first? Get to know each other? "
He gave her the biggest shit-eating grin of his life, that one that had been dying to burst out of him since she'd burst in.

Oh Dan. How I love thee. Let me count the ways. Dan is sexy, funny, laid back, protective, and just plan amazing. I usually scoff at love at first sight, but for Dan and Ali it just feels perfect. If there was ever a time to find someone and hold on with all your might, it would be in this dangerous world that Kylie Scott has created.

"People had done some horrible things to survive. He knew he had, the worst of it keeping him awake at night, scared of what might come out of the dark. The virus had made monsters of everyone. "

I adored the interplay between Ali and Dan. You could feel their connection. They were so real with each other. This is no perfect couple, all sweetness and light.

" Relax. Come and lie down. You can fight with me tomorrow. I promise. "

"I only took off my shirt, Daniel. The bra isn't even all that revealing," she replied, cool as can be, plush mouth set all prim and proper. "If all it takes for you to lose your cool is the hint of hard nipple then I'm concerned on your behalf."
"Shit. Say hard nipple again."
Her body vibrated beneath him with soft laughter. "No."

Oh, and then we meet Finn. I was a little worried about his introduction. I'm mean, I loved Ali and Dan together. I couldn't see how a third was going to work. Finn is undeniably hot. He is a former cop, and when he sees Ali, his protective instincts kick into overdrive. I was surprised at how they got together. I never would have forgiven Ali for needing more, and hurting Dan, and I certainly didn't think Dan would be keen to share. Heck, I couldn't imagine Finn wanting to share either. It turned out I was both right and wrong.

Watching Dan, Ali, and Finn find their way into a new family was just amazing. The backdrop of constant worry about flesh eating zombies led to some heart stopping moments. My one and only complaint is I wanted MORE. More Dan and Finn and Ali. More about their pasts, more about their future. I was so sad to say goodbye to them at the end of the novel.

This is a great story. I've never read anything by Kylie Scott before but I'm so glad I read this one. I love the show The Walking Dead and the season just ended so I'm going through withdrawal. From the sound of this story it sounded like walking dead with sex and it kinda is. Very cool "Zombie Apocalypse" type story (although in the story they're called "infected" not Zombies).

The story starts out with Dan and Ali meeting. It doesn't go well at first because all Ali wants to do is hide. She's been hiding for weeks and has seen stuff the survivors have done that makes her wary of trusting anyone.

Dan has been lonely for human contact and falls head over heals for Ali as soon as he sees her. He's determined to stay with her and protect her and wants to find a place to settle in more rural areas to avoid the "infected". Dan and Ali end up running in to some bad guys while foraging for food and end up in danger and in walks Finn to help them out.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like Finn at first... He wanted Ali for himself and was planning to woo her away from Dan. Finn felt Dan wasn't able to take care of her well enough and that he was the better choice. Problem is that she has feelings for Dan and wasn't going to just drop him. Dan sees that Ali would be safer with both of them. He's not happy with the thought of sharing her but is willing to do it to keep her safe and happy.

They run in to trouble in their travels and Ali has to deal with the men and if she's willing to be shared while they're fighting for survival. There's a pretty good action plot line with a couple different twists. I really liked how the relationship between Ali, Dan and Finn worked out. Finn came around so I liked him more and all three start working together and making a family with each other. It wasn't smooth but it felt more real because it wasn't. The story does end on a HEA note with them relatively safe and happy together.

I really loved this book and had bought the second in the series before I was even done reading this one (I'll be starting it in about 10 minutes :D ). I'd highly recommend this story. 2 thumbs up! :D

2/14/15 - I just completed a reread of the story. I still think it's a great story. It's not a perfect story but it's well written and I really liked the characters (although Finn took a bit to warm up to) and the plot. It's still a great zombie apocalypse story with erotic romance thrown in. :D

7/10/15 - I reread this for a BoTm. I still love this story. :D

A super virus is released into the world that causes a zombie apocalypse. Ali has watched from her hiding place all her neighbors turn on each other in unimaginable ways. Can she trust the intentions of the two hot strangers Daniel and Finn that she is forced to travel with on the road to safety?

When I think of erotica zombies are the last thing that come to mind, so wasn't sure what to expect with this. I'm also not a big fan of ménage storylines in general, but being a fan of the Walking Dead and Resident Evil made the premise intriguing. Surprisingly this worked on a lot of different levels. The way this ménage relationship developed between strangers was so believable to me. I really liked that the female was really the focus of these guys, and not just a conduit for homoerotic subtext. Of course none of that is supposed to seem gay, which is the usual tone of books with this theme. The zombie chaos lends itself to why this unconventional relationship is being played out.

If you are sick of werewolves and vampire storylines in your Urban Fantasy, this is definitely worth a try.

Don't read this for the world-building or thrilling sci-fi suspense. There is none. The plot IS the romance and the zombies are a just a stinky, moaning distraction from the MFM hanky-panky. In fact, the overall tone is light and playful. Despite the abundance of flirting and sex, it's light on the menage and not infected by vulgarity. Add to that imaginative writing, and you've got a wild cocktail of erotic, gory fun.

”There is nothing to fear but fear itself.”

It’s been months since the plague hit, Ali stumbles on Daniel at a suburban home and he is beyond thrilled to see her. No matter how happy Daniel is Ali is scared shitless and tries her best to get away from him.
”That was not nice. Stop and think. I have done everything possible not to hurt you. I only want to talk to you. You’ve shot at me, scratched me, kissed me, and now you start biting. Apologize.”

Daniel knew that Ali was “his” and slowly brought her out of the shell she has been living in.
”The world may have gone to shit but we’re still alive, don’t ge you think it’s time to start acting like it?”

Daniel got Ali to trust him and they set off away from her safe haven to find other survivors, Ali gives into her body’s demands and they begin a relationship,
”What say we call it a night. Find someplace safe to hole up and practice our repopulation methods. Do it for our country. What do you think?”

Along the way they get into trouble with some bikers but are saved before any real damage is done. Finn, an ex-cop, has been following Daniel and Ali, wanting to protect her, knowing he could keep her safer that Daniel. Daniel knows there is nothing he wouldn’t do for his girl and knows that he needs Finn to keep his girl safe so he agrees. Daniel understands that Finn wants Ali, and coax’s Ali to invite Finn into their bed.
”Where Daniel played, Finn took. Both ways apparently worked for her.”

They found a settlement where they offer their expertise to rebuild a community. So along with the relationship drama, they are dealing with the infected, rabid dogs and trying to survive. Everyone is lost, rule and order no longer exists and not everyone is happy with the way others are choosing to live.
”You must be the one who came in yesterday, the one with the two men. Whore.”

They have an unconventional relationship, the three on them together but not, almost like there were two different relationships, there was jealousy but in the end they knew that between both men they could take better care Ali. Ali knew she was being selfish by wanting them both but she didn’t care
”Never wanted to let either of them go. Never would. They were hers. She was theirs.”

I’m struggled with this one, I think because I went in expecting to love it, I ended up jinxing myself. I generally don’t have issues with unique relationships, but somehow between Daniel, Ali and Finn, it didn’t really work for me. Flesh is told from Daniel, Ali and Finn’s POV, they are all distinct voices so it was easy to make out whose head you were in at the time. I think of the three Daniel was my favorite, Ali annoyed me with her constant ”rabbit” references to a point where my eyes were rolling, Finn was an interesting character, strong and capable, but compared to Daniel (who is almost 15 years his senior) seemed like a little immature boy. It was definitely interesting and maybe I’ll have better luck with the next book, Skin.

This book just didn't work for me. It was well written but I just never really liked any of the characters except for Daniel. Ali was just a little too immature and her "rabbit" heart got old after awhile and I never liked Finn. He was arrogant and entitled and I didn't like the way he treated Daniel. The world building was just okay - I kept picturing "The Walking Dead' since this book described a world A LOT like that series. At first, I thought I was going to like/get the menage plot, after all Daniel had good reasons for wanting Finn to be invested in Ali's safety/life. The problem I had was threefold: At first Daniel knows this is best for Ali but doesn't like the thought of sharing her at all and then all of a sudden he's fine with it (What happened - how did he get to this point?). The second is Ali who doesn't want to get involved with Finn at first because she loves Daniel and then all of a sudden she's not only totally on board but she's in love with Finn as well. And finally, this was more Ali having a sexual relationship with two different men, not really the three of them in a relationship together. At the very end, there is a scene where they are all together but by that point I just didn't buy it. I also thought that the "love" came WAY TO QUICK". Daniel and Ali were in love within days of meeting and Ali and Finn also within days of his joining them. I think the book would have been better if the author had stuck to the "need" aspect vs love. Anyway, between my dislike of Finn and the instant love (I didn't even mention the fact that they always had condoms even though it's an apocalypse) I just can't give this book more than 2 stars.

Okay, I just had to listen to this one when I noticed that it was available on Hoopla. I have liked Kylie Scott's writing and it takes place during the zombie apocalypse so I was more than a little intrigued. I mean it isn't every day you have the chance to read zombie smut. I wish that there were more zombie in the book and there was a whole lot of insta-love but it was fun.

Just in case anyone is wondering - my husband keeps telling me that I cannot have a boyfriend even in the event of the zombie apocalypse. Bummer.

DNF @ 49%

I like dystopian/zombie romances, MFM and instalove, but sadly this one didn’t work for me. 😔 I think it needed to be less instalove (more feels) or more unhinged (less feels 😅).

I did like how each character’s POV played with perception though, especially how Ali and Daniel saw Finn, and how Finn saw himself. I might finish this at some point to see if there’s a big payoff there.

3.5 ~ 4 stars

Who would have thought a book featuring a ménage relationship set in post apocalyptic Australia with zombies running amok would work? Well until I read Flesh definitely not me!! However, in my never ending quest to find a read off the beaten path I decided to give it a try and I’m so glad I did.

Flesh is well written, surprisingly funny (mostly due to hero Daniel’s witty banter and snarky comments), and emotionally charged. It comes across as a much steamier version of Walking Dead yet just as gritty. When not tangled in the sheets with one or both of the sexy heroes, Ali was vulnerability, strength, and tenacity personified. Her men, Daniel and Finn, were resourceful and utterly devoted to her care and safety. The author did an excellent job of showcasing the intricacies of their ménage making the relationship fairly believable even under the most unbelievable circumstances. At times the ease with which Daniel accepted and encouraged Ali's relationship with Finn bordered on incredulous, nonetheless, his lighthearted way of coping highlighted the need to adjust beliefs and expectations in order to survive as the world he once knew crumbled. Unfortunately all of the fighting for their lives and attempts at rebuilding civilization left little room for character development but with such weighty issues at stake I decided the author deserved a pass :)

So while not perfect, Flesh definitely satisfied my craving for something different. Since I'm jumping right into the follow up Skin (Flesh, #2) by Kylie Scott I'm looking forward to finding out if Kylie Scott is as talented as I think she is, or if her zombie tale is a one bite hit wonder.

WHAT. A. MESS.
I see a lot of good reviews, and I’m just asking myself how? This is a few years old so maybe it was gold at that time? I just really don’t understand it.

The writing is bad, the characters are catastrophic, the plot? What plot? Although, since it is erotica maybe I shouldn’t have expected a plot. It gives major rapey vibes, the characters are absolute dumbasses, and I would’ve liked if the zombies had eaten them… but no such luck.

This review written by Angela sums my thoughts nicely.

Spoilers ahead, 3.5*

I may not sleep well tonight and I'll be eyeing my neighbors for a while but I enjoyed this zombie apocalyptic tale throw in a menage and I was a happy camper.
I liked Daniel and his sense of humor but honestly I'd have expected Finn as the guy in his twenties to be the laid back one. Daniel and Finn were both bossy as hell and Ali was a bit weak in the beginning but thankfully the guys settled down and Ms. Ali showed she could be a kick ass h. The romance felt more out of necessity than anything else especially as Finn flirted with Erin but in the end they worked ok together.

Not a change the world romance but entertaining enough for what it was..... I'd probably have enjoyed it more if Finn and Dan were together too 😂

OK.

I'm going to take a breath here and compose myself.

OK.

I'm ready. Please be advised this 4 star rating has NOTHING to do with merit and everything to do with the enthusiasm with which I read this book. Thank you.

When I snagged this for free off a review blog I thought "hmm, this sounds interesting" and it was one of many freebies that Friday and mostly forgot about it. I was browsing my kindle one night and this gem was in the far back and decided to give it a go. I didn't really remember much about it other than I remembered thinking "I think I want to read this" and "it's about zombies and a love story".

Well, let's just say I was blushing about 20 pages in. Were they... is this... oooohhhh, yes this is porn. Zombie apocalypse porn? In literary format?

HOLY CRAP IT IS. It took me about 4 heartbeats to be completely engrossed; it was bizarre, enchanting, steamy, scary, and totally ridiculous.

I think the part I found the most enthralling (aside from all the sex and being chased by zombies) is how quickly I accepted the world Ali is in and the rules in which they are living. There was no moment that I thought "oh this is corny", it was really well written (for the genre) all the while artfully walking the line of absurd, Kylie Scott knew when to back off and let things develop natural lulls (how else are they going to get their freak on).

It's everything you never knew you wanted. READ IT.

When I found out about this book series, I did a happy dance.

description

I am a HUGE zombie fan. From Resident Evil to Walking Dead, if it has a zombie in it chances are I've seen it or will be seeing it. And, yes, that includes made for TV crap that most people turn as soon as they see SciFi or Chiller channel. LOL

So, how could I not love a story that is like the Walking Dead, but with sexy times.

YES, Please!
description

The book starts strong and really does push you into a world of flesh eating infestation. Loved it. Ali and Daniel were good, strong characters. I liked Ali not being a wilting flower who gave in to his advances immediately. However, while I get that she'd been through a lot - I mean a lot - but the writing around her 'rabbit heart' sometimes felt like it didn't fit. I wish she just would've made it 'survival instinct' or something.

The introduction of Finn was a nice little twist, but I had a hard time believing some things.

In the end, I didn't rush through this book. It's not a part of my "read it one sitting" group or even my "rereads" BUT it is a great combination of two worlds I love.

This gets 3.5 stars, losing half a star because I could put it down or skim certain areas and not miss out.

Definitely recommend.

I did not expect to enjoy FLESH as much as I did. Especially since, at this reading, FLESH only has mid range rating. I've found goodreads to be pretty accurate when it comes to scores. But there's always the exception.

I had to give this book a chance. Zombie apocalypse manage romance? Yes, please!

What I loved...good writing. Story had good pacing, multiple POV, drew me in, felt real, WAS NOT disjointed, didn't have cheesy lines. Thank you Kylie Scott.

I think most of the reviewers who gave lower ratings, did so for personal preferences. They even said so.

Not everyone likes menage. If they do, only certain types. I perfectly ok with menage where not all parties are sexually involved with one another. FLESH is two guys loving one woman.

Some reviewers thought Al was too wimpy. For me, she was perfect; I'm not a big fan of the female "bad ass" characters. Again...a personal preference.

Some thought Finn was a jerk. Yes, he was for a bit. But not too such an extend where I couldn't enjoy him growing into the relationship.

And Dan? Well, I think everyone loves Dan. Uber masculine sensitive type.

Zombie apocalypse? Ms. Scott gave me just the write amount of action and tension. Enough to be superbly enjoyable and not so much that I wanted to tear my hair out.

Finally, the relationship between Al, Dan and Finn. LOVED! Misunderstandings...sure. Some jealousy to work through....you bet. But Kylie Scott gave me a perfect balance of conflict and resolution.

All this means major 5 stars from me and staying up way too late to finish the book.
