In this fast-paced, two-part sequel Charity is finally settling into her new role as alpha female to the Drake pack. With Prom and Graduation approaching, this should be the best time of her life, but something is wrong with Levi—dangerously wrong. With his odd behavior growing daily and her now blackening connection symbol, Charity is spurred into action. It’s a race against time, and any delay could result in the death of the only man she can ever love. Can she save him in time? If so, will their undying love and a stronger-than-ever heart connection be enough to withstand the damage created?
This installment in the Charity Series is fully loaded with everything from unlikely alliances, battles and romance, to humor, mystery, and even betrayal, as well as a few other surprises along the way. You have officially been warned.
DeAnna Kinney is what you could call an eclectic writer at its best. If she can dream it, she can write it. Her main focus is YA Paranormal but also writes New Adult and Adult Romance, Action Adventure, Children's books, and even an Apocalyptic Christian Thriller Romance. She considers herself as fun-loving and a bit peculiar. Besides writing, she loves reading, all things purple, Star Wars, acting like a goofball with all of her friends, and dancing while she cooks (she can see her kids rolling their eyes as we speak). She believes whole-heartedly that chocolates and a good book go hand in hand. And, having experienced it herself, believes utterly in the power of true love. She lives in the lovely North Carolina with her husband, four kids, and a dog named Link (aka Monster).
She is very hands-on with her fans and thrives on their interaction.
Her upcoming works include:
*Maybe something about Zombies, Bullying, and perhaps the end of the world, although not necessarily in that order.
Okay, let me start by saying that I realize that this sequel is a busy one, and a lot is going on, but for some crazy reason, I like it like that, haha. Charity is trying to find her place in her new pack and is suddenly confronted with a threat she thought she'd never see......Levi himself. This story was a blast to write. I hope that comes across to the readers. These characters are just so much fun to write about. I look forward to the comments to come.
Note:I was given a PreRelease copy of 'Charity Rising' by the author for an honest review. I haven't been influenced to give this review what so ever.No biased opinions.
First and Foremost...i LOVE the cover...it so so beautiful that i can't stop staring at it..especially Levi, and i was swooning all over him..LOL....and when u read the book you will see that the cover is inspired from a scene..on a beach...(Nope..not giving any spoiler's)..which is damn romantic...!
This book is divided into 2 parts and is a bit lengthy than normal other books. It was an easy, fast paced and entertaining read for sure.
I loved first book in series - Charity Moon - Where Charity, the i don't care about anything, kinda girl meet Levi, the alpha pack of (werewolf)West Windrake and they both fall for each other..making charity's way into the supernatural world around her which she lived all these days ignoring. If they thought life would be easy.. than it was a mistake..the opposite pack alpha - Wesley - tries everything to take over and the enemy - the vampires - want nothing more than to kill the pack, and Charity becomes the bait every time..but she fights back, helps every time to save the pack and proves herself that she's not a liability and a Asset.
The second book continues from where it was left..
Charity and Levi, the alpha male and female of pack,to which charity is still adjusting herself to,are happily married and want nothing but to end their school life and start a life for themselves..prom,graduation,moving out..charity is excited and can't stop being happy. But danger is still lurking in corner to attack and something strange is happening to Levi..he's behaving strangely and now it seems charity - Levi are drifting apart, random attacks leave everyone confused..Charity is not one who will be laid back but fights against it but what she finds out may leave her speechless.
The enemy is still strong waiting for it's opportunity to attack and the good old Raven helps charity n pack no matter what..a lot of surprises are waiting for the pack, making a celebration..and old foes are trying to take the advantage of it.But with charity more strong than ever now and her ever loving husband Levi by her side, the pack supporting her and oh don't forget her weapon - the Raspberry lip balm..(LOL)..she's not one who will surrender so easily..she may have a forgiving heart and that makes everyone's life hell sometimes ..something involving *ahem* stray's *ahem*...LOL..but when required..she fights against all tides to cross the ocean and save the people she cares for.
I love Charity's strength and confidence n how she tries to solve problems straight forward ..bang on.And then their is Levi, who though is a bit intimidating and controls charity, but want's nothing but her safety n pack's..so cute and perfect couple.
There's so much that happens in this book,it will make you sit on edge and thinking what will happen next and let me tell you ..nothing will happen as what you think..LOL..and that puts us more to edge .. the past, lies, secrets, betrayal's,attacks are merged with happiness, reunion, celebration, surprises that will make every moment of book enjoyable.
New people, old foes, old friends, some sad ends but a lot big of celebration's (Lets say it gets tripled ..LOL) and a lot of twists, turns, surprises, shocks lie in every corner of book and you will thoroughly enjoy it.And the sense of humor - with charity mainly n when her big mouth is involved n confusion - will leave you rolling on floor.
Even after finishing the book after waking up half the night..i was still filled with it's after effects...but it was worth it!
I am so looking forward for the next series of books..especially Raven's..Can't wait.Anna so thank you for thinking to write other books.
If u have read the first one then u will definitely not miss this one..and if haven't read and are at least a bit paranormal freak like me or just like a 'NICE ' book which u want to read then go for this..i am sure you won't regret it and will enjoy every bit as i did.
The book is paced fast and sometimes i hoped it was a bit slow as the progress from one part to another part is rapid..sometimes..but i think that suited it overall..cos i couldn't really wait long for another book to be released if book was divided into 2 books..LOL.
First of all,I want to thank the author to give me this book to review before it actually released but due to some problem I wasn't able to read andreview before it and I hadn't even read the first book then so I tried to finish my first and as soon I finished with that..I jumped to this one and God I loved it...
I tell you I never try to finish a series so quickly but still this book was intoxicating as the first and better than the first. More elements are there. Secondly...I love the cover..It just so awesome. The guy portraying Levi is is DAMN Handsome. Wish I get Levi as boyfriend and a husband..
Whereas the first book dealt with Levi and Clarity falling in love and facing problems -wesley ,Raven..
This book dealt with more stuffs, more surprises, old enemies running loose,,,I loved the new characters introduced . In the start it tarts with all action...with Levi acting strange and with introduction of new characters and new secrets and finding out the mysteries.I love the whole concept on which this book is based on . Never was this story predictable.
Clarity was as awesome as before strong independent and finally starting and happy married life.I really liked the quality of hers to forgive. It seemed every bad person seemed to go good after dealing with her..even after giving her troubles..
There are many interesting things happening to her in whole book and I sure tell you its quite refreshing and awesome...I was really shocked to see her going powerful ..That's why its called Charity Rising!!and to know the reason behind it.
Its so cute,so Amazing.. I salute this girl..She is never helpless and weak..and I like her relationship with her best friend..Whereas in other books people hide these werewolves stuffs with their close one but I in here I got to see the good relationship with each other no secrets between them ..Its quite refreshing.I loved more more cute names for Levi!!!
My puppy and garfield!! Heheheh!!
I really liked that Clarity didn't take any shit from any people ...I really was angry when Levi treated her that way I understood Levi but still it made me angry with him as Clarity was. And I really liked how Clarity stoop up to him even if she loved him a lot. The relationship between Levi and Clarity developed more.It was painful ,really painful to see them apart due to misunderstanding.
There was no dull moment in the book..Loads of humour in this book
and I tell you -you will be laughing so bad!!! smiling, crying with the book..Its really touching touching story.
I think I amliking werewolves a lot. I got to see more side of her mom and i was really sad what happened in the beginning but still I just could feel like Clarity in this book
I loved the beach scene!!
This book little more emotional than first and I am glad to listen o Levi's POV.It did help a lot to know his side. I loved him as he supported Clarity in this book and finally started involving her and they both became equals.
Eli was great even after what he did..Raven was just amazing and wesley yes..He did create loads of troubles but still liked what he did in the book. So yes i forgive all the villains .
The book ended perfectly with no loose ends...
Will miss Clarity and levi ,Eli and Raven and I really loved when Raven called Clarity My queen and I really laughed a lot when reading the scenes between Eli and Clarity. but still I want more!!!
hope there would be more book.Once again..I heartful thank the author for giving me this book. (:
Fast paced, better developed than first,You would love the ending.Touching story.
Ratings-Whole Five stars. This book was just just perfect . I love fast paced book !
Where to even begin.....? This book was all i wanted it to be and it was, i was given a pre-release copy of this book by Author for a sincere review and i loved it like crazy!!! Usually sequels are not that good, but Charity Rising surprised me. There wasn't a moment in the book where was bored by it.The sequel is packed with lots action, suspense and romance. Charity and Levi are cute together, Charity being careless and Levi being over-protective.... Josh and Ashley have a progress in their relationship. Raven was very sweet and helped Charity whenever she was in trouble which was very often… At that one point when Charity gets ready for bed….don’t want to reveal too much….. I was laughing so hard that my mom was giving me odd looks…lol! The end was superb!!! And to me it seemed very short book……but nonetheless Good Job DeAnna!!!! All in all it was a great read and am looking forward to the next book. I want to thank DeAnna Kinney for letting me review this book and I want more of Raven in the next one…..
WOW, AMAZING!!!! When I was asked by the Author to review this and got a per-released copy I was excited, Since I loved the first book so much. This book has out done the first one in so many ways. It took me too days to read it. It kept my interest through the whole book. I never wanted to put it down. All I wanted to do was read it. I'm sure I drove people at work crazy, just I couldn't wait to get to break and read it. Like the first you never know whats going to happen next. I will/ would recommend this book to anyone who love paranormal ya books. I cant wait to see what comes next with this group of characters.
Charity Rising, was a roller coaster of emotions, the playfulness that Levi and Charity share I am glad continued into this sequel. A lot happening in this one, would have love to see it split into two books (hate their story came to a end), however DeAnna kept a nice balance with the story line. I hope to see more from Windrake Mountain and possibly a short follow-up of how Levi and Charity are making out. Please keep the POV within the story it definitely adds a different twist on the other characters view of events. A consideration would be to also have an entire version (#1)with one character POV and switch up in a followup(version #2), gives more to your fans :).
First I want to thank DeAnna for letting me review this before it came out. Now on to the good stuff I must say I usually don't like sequels but hands down Charity Rising is amazing. This book made me laugh, cry, and scream, but it also made me feel really good. There at a few surprises that I didn't see coming but it only made the book better. If your a Charity and Levi fan you will be extremely happy and won't be disappointed. I'm a big fan of werewolf love stories and if you are too you need to read this, but read Charity Moon it's first. 5 star for Charity Rising.
I loved this book it so good and fasted paced u never know what's going to happen next I can't wait to read the next one I am happy they keep the babies together and I love h their
Charity is back and getting into more trouble with werewolves for her husband Levi and the vampire Raven to help her out of and I mention the vampire problem led by Ravens brother? Fun and exciting adventure with and addition of puppies!!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Charity Rising, Charity Series Book 2 by DeAnna Kinney is a great story to read. This is book number two in this great series that I have enjoyed reading from the very begining. I recommend this story to everyone who likes reading about humor and paranormal romance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Review also appears on my blog First I would like to thank the awesome DeAnna Kinney for giving me the chance to read and review her book. Now on to the actual review. This book was both similar and different from the first. Just like in the first book we have the toe-curling romance, the edge of the seat suspense and some pretty funny nicknames... ( Fido you know what I'm talking about :) ) However, in Charity rising things are taken to the next level. The romance is a bit hotter, the suspense.... is well a bit more suspenseful, also the stakes are much higher in this book and some of the things revealed will literally make your job drop. Levi and Charity are as cute as ever. Well, there was the whole issue with Levi acting crazy ,but that gets an amazing resolution and after that Levi and Charity are just the cutest couple. My one and only issue with this book was how Charity acted at times. I mean don't me wrong I love her but at times she was a bit childish and immature. I love and respect the fact that the author chose to keep her behavior steady and didn't pull one of those changes where the reading thinks the character got a brain transplant. However, there were times when Charity could have been more serious. Besides that one little flaw Charity was an amazing character. She really stood up in this book and fought for what she thought was right and what she believed in. Overall this is a great sequel that no devoted paranormal romance reader should let slip by without reading.
Charity Rising is the conclusion to Charity and Levis love story. Charity is the alpha female of the pack, she is worrying that Levi will have to take another wife if she doesn’t get pregnant and have a boy. She is trying to keep the packs secret and for some reason Levi is acting weird. When Levis connection symbol turns black and everyone thinks Charity cheated on Levi, Charity has to find out what is going or they both will die. Charity is very different in this story than she was in the last, she has lost a lot of the hard edge that surround her. Levi is harder though, he is the pack alpha so he has had to make hard decisions and you can see how it is affecting him.
>>>>>>>Spoiler Alert……Don’t read this if you don’t want part of the book spoiled for you. I liked how they found out that Levi had a twin. I get that Charity didn't know the Levi had a twin, but when his identity is revealed she still can’t tell them apart. Come on if I were Levi I would be super pissed that my wife just flashed herself in lingerie to my brother because she thought it was me. Spoiler ended<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
I liked how the series ended I thought it was very appropriate, even though I did have a problem with certain parts of the book I still loved it. Once again Kinney creates a vivid and realistic world with just enough conflict to keep the reader interested. I am sad to see the end of Charity and Levi, but I think that the ending was done wonderfully.
Charity Rising was AMAZING! The writing was entertaining, and the story was seriously addictive.
This piece of the Charity Series brought the story to a whole new level. I enjoyed the first book, but loved the second. The romance was stronger; the action was more intense, and the suspense kept me flipping pages until the wee hours of the morning.
Kinney had me back in high school and made me fall in love for the first time all over again. Charity’s character really came a long way from the first book (which I adored). She was spunkier, playful, and even though she had me shaking my head at times—which is not a bad thing—I loved her “teen” attitude.
The dialogue was fresh, fun, and most of all, had me giggling or awwwing over and over. Kinney really brought the characters to life and let them grow.
At times, I was laughing so hard that my stomach hurt…
“It called for one egg, lightly beaten.” “And how did you beat the egg, exactly?” “I dropped it in the pan with the rest of the ingredients and beat the snot out of it with my hands. Was that wrong?” “Including the shell?” “Umm.”
Seriously, this brings back memories. Needless to say, I’m not a good cook, and I can totally relate. :)
My only complaint is that Charity and Levi’s story is over and I don’t want it to end yet. I hope we get to see more of them at some point in the future.
Charity Rising was an amazing sequel and well worth the read. I highly recommend this series.
I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
*SPOILER ALERT* Usually I'm scared to read sequels because a lot of the time they don't live up to the first book.but that was not the case with Charity Rising. the sequel was just as good if not better then the first. In this novel Charity and Levi are married and eventually get to live together. Ashley and josh also eventually get married. In this book we get to see how the pack lives together and deal with issues that arise. The characters haven't changed. I find Charity and Levi to be a hilarious couple, especially when Levi trades in Charity's mustang for a old, slow Buick so she can't speed around. I'm glad that Raven and Rose found each other and I hope to find out more about them in another book. Also I hope that Eli will find a mate and hopefully we also get a book about that. And I want to find out more about what happens with the triplets and about Ashley and Joshes baby. DeAnna Kinney is a great writer. She keeps you interested and gives you a great read at the same time. The romance is the perfect amount. There is just enough action and suspense. DeAnna you have definitely made an impression on me and I will continue to read books by you in the future. You are definitely on my radar of must read/ favourite authors. Thanks for the great opportunity to read your books!!
First of all I would just like to thank DeAnna for giving me a copy of 'Charity Rising' for an honest review.
A beautiful ending to a spectacular sequel. This book was amazing. At all stages there was something happening within the book and it was very fast paced. Charity Rising was full of shocking revelation and full of surprises that I didn't see coming. If you are fan of Charity and Levi you will not be disappointed(at one stage though you will be a little bit worried but I'm not going to say why). Throughout the book you watch Charity become stronger and apart of the pack, asserting herself as Alpha Female(hence the title 'Charity Rising). I loved the new characters introduced and I found myself laughing at a few things they did. In in his book Charity also has a soft spot for the underdog and some of the things she did were pretty funny. More enemies were dealt with in this book raising the stakes even higher. Raven also protects Charity at all costs and an unlikely alliance is madeThinking back over the book I actually can't believe how much stuff happened in such a short time frame. I am glad that DeAnna is not done with the Windrake Mountain just yet because I can not get enough of the storyline and don't wont it to end. Great work DeAnna!
Charity Rising is book two in the Charity Series By DeAnna Kinney.Book two has lots of love in it,humor and a bit of wolf drama and LOTS of lipgloss.Let me start off the Good.I loved Levi and his whole alpha-ness and Charity..well she is pretty darn cool herself. They are almost done with senior year and already married.Charity and Levi are of course bonded.I loved Raven he's a pretty cool Vampire to stay with the Wolves. The not so good of Charity..While I love her character she bothered me a small bit.For instance..she was bitten by a wolf and Raven tries to save her.She is more worried about her shirt being ripped into two then the injury. Then she is bonded with Levi but when someone impersonates Levi she cannot tell that this isnt her Bonded mate.I guess just sometimes when the scene was serious Charity wasn't..but it did not hinder how much I loved Charity Rising.I have to say I laughed alot at Charities cooking and when Charity and Levi found out she was expecting.I havent laughed that hard in a long time. All in All a excellent book.Thoroughly enjoyable and I look forward to reading about the secondary characters in future books.Well Done DeAnna Kinney!
As the second book in the series I had my doubts about this one. I didn't really care much for the first one, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one.
It starts out with Charity noticing odd things about Levi at Prom. And as they get closer to graduation Charity is becoming more concerned about the way he's acting. Then out of no where he claims she smells differently, like she's been with another man. But the only man Charity has been with is Levi.
Some bad things happen to Charity as she tries to figure out what is wrong with Levi. This is all in the first part of the book.
Then there is a second part of the book that's almost like a continuation of the first part. Basically like another story. I kind of like how the author did that, it made it more interesting. I was also super excited that we got to see Levi's point of view a few times through out the book. And I'm excited about what happened in the end with Raven, and Rose. And I hope we get to see Eli get a mate as well.
Over all the book was good. I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first one. I actually want to read the next one as well, and I hope Eli gets his own story too.
So much going on in this book and I liked it even more than Charity Moon. It is full of plot twists, new characters, and more insight into the werewolf society. Charity continues to struggle to find a balance of finding her place in the pack without losing who she is. There is no shortage of action in the second installment of the Charity series. Levi and Charity face foes new and old that threaten to tear their love and family apart. I really love Charity as the damsel in distress, not the cower in the corner damsel, but the fight tooth and nail until she's rescued damsel. She never loses her sense of humor even in the worst situations.
A couple of things I didn't like. I wish there was more involvement from Raven. I loved his character from Charity moon and was hoping there would be more of him in this book. Need more Raven, nuff said. Secondly, I really wish they would put a certain 'dog' down. The guy is such an unlikable jerk but Charity, rarely takes the easy road and true to her nature, gives even the most hopeless cases more chances than a 4 year old at T-ball practice.
Overall great book and I'm looking forward to reading Raven's Rose.
The story of this book is truly amazing. I liked seeing Charity's progress throughout the book, how she became even stronger and bolder and wiser, and changed the lives of the people around her. She was loyal to the people she loved, and considerate of the feelings of those around her. She was beautiful, she was courageous and she took risky chances. I totally love her character now. She is definitely someone to look up to, because she deals with her problems really well and makes life-changing decisions in the end. Plus she has a great sense of humor. Fido? Sparky? Snoopy? What a riot! I loved it when she called Levi those silly dog names.
And Levi. Oh Levi (sigh). He is like, the epitome of all good things. He's sweet, kind and caring -- it was so hard to get mad at him in the book. I love him, really. Nuff said.
All in all, it was a really delightful and entertaining book. I really look forward to reading more of DeAnna Kinney's works :D
This book is the second of the Charity series. The book centers on Charity and Levi, and his pack of werewolves. Two weeks after the last book finished everything seems great. Charity is happy with Levi and all her friends. But at the prom, Levi starts to act strange and Charity can't figure out what is wrong with him. His odd behaviour continues and if Charity doesn't find out what is happening, it could be the end of her and Levi.
I have to say that I LOVED the prologue, it was so well written and really reeled me into the story. The rest of the this book was sweet and even better than the last. There were plenty of twist and turns to keep you reading.
Although I found it a bit long, near the end it dragged and Charity was again a little cheesy, it was a great read and one I would recommend.
I liked this second installment even better than the first! One of my favorite TV series is The Vampire Diaries, however with that show I've gotten to the point that I am so over the high school aspect, with this book I got to that point as well. I love the whole bride of a werewolf premise, but at times wished the characters were a bit older, the high school backdrop did not add to the story for me. However I don't often read YA and perhaps for others who do it would be better appreciated. I really got pulled into the story after graduation, when the plot really delved into the story of the wolf den and Charity and Levi's relationship. From that point on I had a hard time putting the book down. This book kept me up reading late into the night, and for me that is the sign of a truly good book!
Charity's Rising is a lot like the first one only with a lot of new scenes, pretty much same bad guys. It's not a bad thing at all though. One thing I have to say about this series, is that it's enticing! I'm always curious in what is gonna happen next. A few times I find myself sitting back, wondering, what the heck is going on. Thanks to the lack in some details. Thank goodness it doesn't happen the entire time. Charity is a good character although at times I feel she can be a little bratty, spoiled, and EVERYONE just looooves her. Frankly it kinds of turns me off, just a tad, but every other one of her qualities drags me back into the story. So all in all, she's just not that bad. I love the twists and turns the author sticks in this world! And I just wouldn't change it if I could! So read it, I dare you!
I really enjoyed Charity Moon so I was anxious to continue on in Charity and Levi's journey. This book did not disspoint! The book was filled with juicy romantic moments just like the first, but also pulse pounding action and suspense. I gave the book 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons: 1. I thought Charity acted kind of childish at times and it bugged me. However, she was true to her character so I applaud Kinney for keeping her consistent. 2. I thought this should have been divided into two books. There was too much going on. I would have liked to spend more time with the characters and focusing on the relationship between Levi and Charity. Overall, though, it was an engaging read and I'm still a fan of this series!
As the other Charity book, I had a hard time putting this one down! Charity and Levi have such a fun relationship I loved reading about it
One thing that I keep thinking of since finishing it thought has to do with the author's notes at the endm it seemed like she was saying there wasn't going to be another Charity book which was a little disapointing because I've really grown to like the characters but also because it seems like with the aliances they've gained through out the two books thatt there would be a need for those alies to come to there aid in another book. I hope I'm reading her note wrong or she reconciders.

I have read lots and I mean lots of Paranormal stories but they all seemed to have something missing, whether it was something small or something big. With this series it isnt missing anything. As I read the book I so wanted to put myself in the story and see everything. After a good night of reading and you are going to sleep you can end up dreaming you are in the book but the problem is you wake up right when you get to the point of the book you are in and you don't know the end until you finish the book
Wow :) I have to say that this was just as good as Charity Moon. I was smiling (a lot). The story is broken up into two parts and basically just continues Charity and Levi's story... with a little twist :) I don't want to give anything away, but the issue is that Levi is acting weird. I LOVED the twist. Anyone who liked Charity Moon is sure to love Charity Rising. I'm so excited for more of DeAnna Kinney's books!
I loved this book! The author cleverly threw a snarky, witty teenaged high school girl into a world far beyond the norm and did it with total teen attitude! Was it all believable? In an entertaining way, yes!!!!! I often shook my head and smiled at Charity's youthful perspective. Levi was awesome and the addition of a few quirky characters made me laugh. Great story, great characters, loved the ending!
The blurb wasn't kidding. This book is very fast paced. It kept action packed trend going from book one, in that there is always something happening. This is not one of those books that lets me zone off. It fully keeps my attention, and I love that.
It was kinda busy but it was an okay type of busy. Who knew he had a brother?! I was completely shocked by that! And was so confused at the same time. I got teary on some parts, but hey, it was WORTH IT! I love Levi and Charity!!! She might be a little hard headed, then again she's a girl. I could fall in love with Levi repeatedly and not get fed up! Since Levi had Charity. I would like to take Eli now hahaha! It was a great book! Loved it very much!
