Filling in the Triangles

Rate this book
Andrew Krag, an out-of-work car salesman, leaves his Denver home for a backpack trip into the Snowmass-Maroon Bells Wilderness. When he returns, he discovers that his wife, Leslie, has moved to Italy. She has also put their house up for sale and left him a big cashier's check.

Andrew, faced with a separation that seems more permanent than temporary, moves to Leadville, CO and lands a construction job, one well-suited to his previous geo-tech engineering experience. He easily settles in to his new life and begins a relationship with Sarah, his employer's niece.

Leslie, who suffers from an undiagnosed case of borderline personality disorder, realizes that her impetuous action was a huge mistake and wants a reconciliation at Christmas. Andrew, however, is convinced that their marriage is over and files for divorce.

An angry Leslie returns to Denver and meets with her attorney to fight the divorce. She suspects that Andrew is involved with another woman and hires a private detective to dig up incriminating evidence.

In Dick Reynolds' fourth novel, a vengeful wife is determined to achieve justice for being treated so terribly. Pursuing a rage-filled "scorched earth" war, Leslie swears that if she can't have Andrew, no woman can.

Thought-provoking and engaging, a most enjoyable read…

I was so excited upon hearing that I would have the opportunity of reading the new novel Filling in the triangles by Dick Reynolds, as it was something that I had found most intriguing by an author whom I had not encountered before. The stunning photograph on the cover captured my attention almost immediately, as did the interesting and original storyline that is so different to Dick Reynolds previous four novels. Being something that I would not normally read I was thus pleasantly surprised by how the author captured my interest, making me want to read on and find out more. His other works such as Averil, My Anchor, Mayhem in Mazatlan and Nightmare in Norway are all such uniquely distinctive novels that profess his inmost thoughts and views on life, hence this volume one could say is a product of his previous hard work and years of study that raises the standard even higher; for his own personal achievements and this genre.

Andrew Krag takes a backpack trip to the Bells wilderness and upon returning to his home he finds that not all remains as he left it, such as his wife who has left him to move to Italy. His house now up for sale in Denver and a cheque in his pocket Andrew thus decides to start a fresh and begin a new life in Leadville CO, where he lands a construction job in engineering and begins a relationship with Sarah his employer’s niece. Whilst filing for a divorce, planning ahead into the future Andrew’s wife returns to plead his forgiveness as she regrets her decision to leave him therefore a lot of the past comes to the surface once more. A vengeful and determined wife, who is enraged and hurt, begins her battle against her husband to not only try and win back his heart but to prevent him moving forwards into the future; especially with another woman.

This novel is about love, loss and guilt which many readers will be able to relate to and connect with their own lives. Those who have been happily married and who have gone through a divorce will be able to connect with Dick Reynolds story and his characters, which show much feeling and honesty within this kind of situation. Realistic, believable and truth-drawing this story reaches out to ones heart touching your very soul with its honesty and truth that I could relate to. Thought-provoking to the core and heartwarming this story will make you cry, laugh and question all that you read, making this a book that you will be most reluctant to put down. I am overwhelmingly impressed by such an accomplished author whose work is so deep and meaningful, being both enjoyable and engaging to read and which has surpassed and exceeded all expectations. One can connect so intimately and personally with Dick Reynolds characters that it is as if you are a part of their story, hence this saga is brought vividly to life before your very eyes. Captivating, mesmerizing and fascinating this book maintained its momentum throughout from page one to the very end, with a most dramatic and spellbinding conclusion to a brilliant tale. I cannot thank the author enough for having the privilege to have read his work, which I cannot enthuse about enough and I urge you to read as it was fantastic.

I received this book from the author, who very kindly sent it to me even though I didn't win the Goodreads drawing for it. He asked that I give it an honest review, which I'm happy to do.

I enjoyed Filling in the Triangles for the most part. It's an easy read, one that provides a steady stream of interactions and experiences between various people. I would describe it as a pleasant book, one that does not offend in any way, really. Depending on the reader's moral compass, the reader might be a bit taken aback by some of Andrew's choices but overall he's a steady, dependable guy trying to start the second part of his adult life after his wife's unexpected departure from their life together.

I read some reviews that spoke of suspense and tension in the book but I didn't notice much suspense in the story. Instead, because I had read the reviews, I kept waiting for the suspense to kick in and it never really did for me. There were some "what's going to happen next?" moments but I couldn't honestly call them suspenseful, more so just curiosity on my part.

I would have liked to see some more back story on Andrew's wife. I wondered throughout the book why he ever would have married her if she was as unstable and spiteful as she was in the book--maybe there's a story there that could be fleshed out. Why was she so angry? Why did she leave and then turn on Andrew the way she did?

I found the ending to be unsatisfying but it could be that the author intends to write a sequel. In that case, I can forgive the ending as it is although I wonder how much of a sequel really could be made from this story as it is. I will say that the ending wasn't what I expected it to be so I give credit to the author for not writing a predictable ending.

If you're in the mood for a book that will present a pleasant tale, one that doesn't have many ups and downs or plot twists, this is a good book for you. The author clearly has spent some time outdoors and he has the ability to describe natural settings quite well. He has crafted a story of a man forced to begin his life anew, like many of us have had to do at some point in our lives, and he tells the story well.

Love, desperation, hate, revenge, passion, and suspense. These are the words that come to mind when thinking of Dick Reynolds book Filling in the Triangles. Not only does the reader feel like they know the characters personally but Dick Reynolds fills you in on the details with the best description making the reader feel like they are in the story with them. What starts as a seperation for main characters Leslie Krag and Andy Krag turns to something more. Something more dangerous. The book is an art itself but the way the words are put together with the situations really puts the reader on the edge of their seat and allows the reader to put two and two together for themselves. A book you will not put down until you have read every word! Kudos to Dick Reynolds!

Every once in a while, a writer comes along who has that rare ability to spark your interest in the kind of novel that you might not ordinarily choose to read. Dick Reynolds has that rare ability. In his novel, Filling in the Triangles, we meet characters who are likeable and genuine, and who engage in dialogue that is snappy and brisk. Reynolds intricately weaves complexities into the plot, adding layers as he draws the reader deeper into the lives of his characters. Strong characters and weak characters clash as we find ourselves cheering on the triumph of those who are betrayed by the vengeful and detestable wife.. He effortlessly blends suspense, romance and humor to make the lives of Andrew, Sarah and Leslie ones we come to care about, and he leaves us wanting more.

I just won this book! Thank you Goodreads!

Wow, there is a lot of stuff going on in this book! Romance, deception, revenge, twists, humor, and a storyline that keeps you on the edge and reading into the wee hours of the morning! Throw in a crazy almost ex-wife and you have a story that is worthy of a sequel!

I loved the snappy and engaging dialogue. I thought the characters were down-to-earth and real....so real that I wish i could be friends with Andy and Sarah! I even liked the sappy and not-so-smart private detective, Clarke!

The title of the novel is very appropriate to the story. Also I like the beautiful cover! This is a fun read!

Reynolds does a great combination of mystery, suspense, and deception to create a story line filled with the constant questions of who will do what with whom throughout the book. He takes the readers on journeys to support characters that can prove all people do have a dark side from time to time. Good saturation of characters with in depth descriptions of each to make a well rounded story.

Full Disclosure: This book was sent to me as a gift from the author. There was no discussion regarding reviewing the book.

What a terrific read! I started the book as soon as it came in the mail and I put it down some hours later when I finished the last page. That certainly qualifies "Filling in the Triangles" as a page turner. The characters in the book are very real and very human. Some are a bit better at relationships than others and that is the crux of the narrative. Without giving away much, I can assure you this book will have you laughing, rolling your eyes, sitting on the edge of your seat, enjoying the views of nature, and, perhaps occasionally looking back a few pages to remember who is who. The remembering part is an intentional, I think, device the author uses to ratchet up the hilarious and bittersweet nature of the various relationships developed from the first page to the last.

There are love stories, but just a tiny bit of sex.....which is how I like my books. My imagination can fill in those blank triangles and I don't care for books filled with sexual details. There is lots of character growth and plenty of action.

Proof of just how good this book is can be found in the fact my husband read it in a few days. He usually only reads sports or military nonfiction material. When he saw me so engrossed in Dick Reynolds' book, he decided to give it a try. Not only did he read it, but he enjoyed it almost as much as I did, and that says something terrific about Mr. Reynolds writing.

Read it,you'll like it.

I won this in the Goodreads giveaway - Thank you!

After another fight with his wife, Leslie, Andrew Krag goes backpacking for a week in the Maroon Bells Wilderness. When he returns he finds his house up for sale and his wife moved to Italy, leaving him a sizable check (maybe to counter her guilt?). He decides to start a new life and ends up in Leadville, CO. He buys a cabin, gets a job and meets Sarah. His life is looking pretty good. Or so he thought...

This novel is about love and hate, revenge and loss, passion, desperation, guilt. Readers will be able to connect it with their own lives. It is well written and kept my interest, I did not want to put it down.

I give it 4 stars and will look forward for more novels from Dick Reynolds.

I really liked it! The evil wife was perhaps a little too evil, and I wasn't 100% sure I believed her motivation for her actions, but I really did like it. Being a Colorado resident, I enjoyed the setting. But, I'm not sure the title was all that appropriate, there wasn't a lot of climbing, really. Overall I would recommend this.

I was wowed by this book! It was very fluid and the reader can be easily swept away into the story. I read this in a weekend, because I could not put it down. It is easy to relate to the characters because the character development is fantastic. This story of love, loss, and guilt will appeal to everyone. I highly recommend this novel.

The characters were not likeable, and I was frustrated by their actions more often than not.
