When Megan loses her boyfriend Jeremy and her family in the same year, it sends her into a tailspin. She starts to come out of her funk when Ben, Jeremy's friend, starts coming around. Unfortunately, she also starts having strange experiences. She will soon find out from her aunt and Ben, that all is not as it seems. There is a whole world of supernaturals out there and she is dead center. She is supposed to be the Guardian of the Tree of Life. Vampires want it and need her to get to it. She isn't sure who to trust between her aunt, Ben and her very strange teacher Jaliel. Jeremy may or may not be dead and she will end up having to pick which guy she will trust and be with. Her survival will depend on an unlikely hero. She will eventually be confronted with some horrible truths and lies. Is she strong enough to survive it all? "Evil wants to feel despair, so we will give up. If good people gave up, all that would be left would be...fear...and fear creates more evil. Without people donating their fear and negative energy, evil would die." I loved this book, it has vampires, shifters, angels, psychics, romance, lots of action and a great story. You think you know who the good and bad guys are, then you are't sure, then it switches again. I love that it kept me guessing. Cliffhanger ending left the book open for a sequel.

Immortal Guardians; The Lost by Michele Hurley

Rating 5*****

Why in the world this book doesn't have more amazing reviews...I just don't know. Megan's story is a delightful read. She's a smart and witty teen, who actually acts just like a teen!!! Even after losing everything in her life, she still keeps on going forward. Her lingo and situations often found me laughing out loud. Especially when she starts interacting with Jay.
The story was very unpredictable. Every time I thought I figured it all out, well the next page I realized I was dead wrong. I don't honestly know much about this author but this story is excellently written. My only gripe is I get to the end....and there is the mother of all cliffhangers.....so now I must wait for book two......ow the pain!!!!!
Great work here. It's one of those that you read that you realize that this is why we read....to never want the story to end !!!

Michelle Hurley has created a world where a human girl is torn deciding between her love for a vampire and a werewolf. Does this sound familiar? I was also skeptical while I read the first few chapters and kept expecting that this book was going to be more of the same story we have heard before. However, Hurley surprised me as she threw twists and turns in that made this book hard to put down. The addition of other elements such as magic necklaces, trees, and the concept of guardians added to the intrigue of the story. The characters were interesting and Megan really acted and made decisions like a typical teen her age. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I was a First Read Winner of this book and I really enjoyed it very much. It had wonderful characters and a good plot line and I had a real hard time putting it down. Also plenty of intrigue, a new spin on Vampires and the supernatural world, some raging hormones and plenty of action and humor. Can't wait to find out what will happen next in the series. A great and entertaining read.

The writing was often times not great. I don't like how Megan changed from Ben to Jay so fast. What the hell?!?! I did like the story though, very good.

After winning the second book in the series, I realized that I needed to read the first. What a fun book. It does a great job of mixing the angelic, vampire, wolf, shapeshifter lores, and adds a fresh storytelling. While these vampires, as well as some other famous ones, can walk in the sunlight, it doesn't go into a silly explanation - you just accept these things as part of the story. The characters are fun and the story goes by quickly - in fact, it actually would have been nice for the characters to have a little more down time! I do recommend this book for teens and older...

I received this book from the author in a Goodreads giveaway. Thank you for the opportunity to read & review it.

I have to admit I'm not sure why this book received so many 5 star ratings. It's not that I hated or even disliked the book but I found it just... ok. I did find it was predictable in places but also amusing & funny at times.

However I didn't like how it ended at all, huge cliffhanger... guess I will have to read the second book to see how it turns out.

I loved this book. When I got to the end, I wanted the second book. Plan on getting it just as soon as I can. It really had me guessing through out the whole book with a couple of the characters.
