He's resigned to his lot in life, to work only for the benefit of his people...until he meets mage healer Regan Taylor. Regan makes Liam want more, much more than a lonely vampire healer can ever possess.

Regan Taylor is Liam's mate, but she knows she can never reveal the truth to Liam. No matter how much she wants him for her own, mating with Liam would be like signing his death warrant.

Can these two healers that were meant to be together find true happiness when there are so many things keeping them apart?

3.75 VAMPIRE/MAGE STARS

I get the feeling that I should have read the books that came before this one. Honestly, I felt a little lost at sea with all the terms, rites and rituals.
I would definitely suggest reading the others as it took me until 56% into the story to understand some of what was going on with these mythical occult creatures.

I had no idea what a mage even was until "She had never had a man inside of her because the mage didn't have relations with anyone other than their mate, but she was a healer."
I looked that one up!
And it's not a wizard, who knew!
Not me that's for sure.

description

The hero Liam is a vampire healer. He tells her
"Vampire healers don't have a life of their own,
Regan."
So essentially he is called upon to help and heal others of his kind. His entire immortal life is dedicated to this endeavor.

The heroine Regan being a healer is reluctant to tell Liam that they are mates because:
"After slowly and painfully altering the mark, the council had given her a choice -mate with the mage of their choice or see Liam killed by the mage league of assassins."

Since her only instinct is to protect and heal, therefore she never tell him about them being mated throughout their 8 month relationship.

description

However, when he comes back to see her after a night of fighting which resulted in him having to take lives instead of healing, he had to suffer through the "backlash."
Which apparently is very painful because Regan, in order to help him deal with his pain, gives Liam her blood. An act allows Liam to discover the truth.
SHE WAS HIS MATE!
Now watch as the "backlash" from this discovery unfolds!

description

I enjoyed this story but I would not recommend reading it as a standalone personally. The characters refer to events off page that I had no knowledge of. This is one of those moments where you discover if you care about getting the whole picture or not!
Turns out, I care!
I don't regret reading it but I don't think I can read all these book right now. I may just put them on my TBR for when I have time to go through a whole series of books.

Safety: Hero was a man-whore (he said this not me) and heroine was a virgin as this is part of her kind (they wait for their mates), no cheating, no OW/OM And no condoms.

I've enjoyed all this series so far and have found each book has stepped it up a bit. This one was even more gripping that the last ones.
All incredibly hot and sexy and well written.
Another great book from J.S Scott.

This review is from: LIAM'S MATE: (Book Four: The Vampire Coalition) (Kindle Edition)
Liam's Mate book 4 of The Vampire Coalition series, was awesome very erotic with quite of bit of danger mixed into the story line. More so than in the other 3 books. Regan Liams mate are both Healers for their race. Liam is the Vampire Healer and Regan is the Mage Healer. Of course the danger comes in when they fall in love but don't quite realize it. When they meet at there siblings wedding, Nathan and Sasha book 3. Which was very good. Mage hate vampires and they don't believe they should associate and definitely not marry and mate. The mating ritual is different in Liams and Regans story. The rules change a bit becasue of their Healer status. We get to meet Daric the Prince of the Vampires and I can't wait to read his story. Its up next.

I have said before that The Vampire's in this series remind me of Christin Feehan"s "Dark Series", which is my all time favorite Carpathian/Vampire series and they are full lenght novels. But I think J.S. Scott has 'Hit The Mark' with this series. It is outstanding! and I Highly Recommend it!!! Make sure you get the box set.

Liam's story is very touching. Him being the healer of the brothers faces his own trials. He has a heart of gold that just keeps giving when he should open up to the ones that he loves. Regan will do anything when it comes to her family. Can Liam and Regan make the right choices for each other, you'll have to read to find out. Plenty of action which is the case with all the books in this series. Fast fun and action pack read.

What a terrific story. I liked how this story veered off from the way the other books in this series happened. The process for a healer being so different than the others.

I recommend this story and series
NOTE: This story stands on it's own, however is greatly enhanced when series is read in order.

Fantastic Series

I love the characters in this book. Liam's Mate is probably my favorite out of the series. Very engaging storyline and characters. Wish the books were longer , I didn't want them to end. If you love vampires and their mates, this exciting series is for you.

I love this series. Regan and Liam are both healer's he is a vampire healer and she is a Mage healer. Regan is Brianna's sister who is mated with Liam's brother Nathan. Brianna and Liam have become really good friends see each other everyday for the last eight months both of them are lonely, but Regan has a secret she knows that she is Liam's mate, but she can never tell him or be mated to him because her council will never allow it as well as her parents them want her to continue the bloodline of the Mage she is also in love with Liam. Liam has lived his whole life being lonely and he has a twin brother Rory he watch each of his brother's meet their mate's and fall in love and it made him feel even lonelier. Liam is also keeping secret's from his family about his live what he goes through working so hard that he forgets to feed he also suffers from backlash pain for killing fallen or anyone else for that matter. After helping his brother kill some fallen vamps he comes to find Regan still there after they had dinner and she knew he was going to be in backlash he was in a lot pain and she didn't know how to help him so she offered to let him feed from her and he knew that she was his mate and that she knew he knew. I like how the author made them friends and yes she Regan had her reason's for not telling him her council threatened to kill Liam so she run's but just as she was leaving her house he finds her and they have sex and he learns the truth. Liam goes into a rage when her Mage mate and tries to force her to show him the goods and Liam goes into a rage one so strong that his three brother's can't hold him back and then comes Daric the vampire prince. This book was really good I wish that it was longer. I am looking forward to reading the next book to see what happens to Daric.

I have to say Liam’s Mate is my favorite of the four. I loved how protective Regan and Liam were for each other. Liam made sure Regan was not mated out to those that did not deserve her and Regan was concerned of the secret he has been keeping from his brothers. Regan knew from the very beginning that Liam was her mate, but to protect him she kept it a secret. My heart broke for all that she had endured from the Mage. It got a bit hairy when Liam finally learned the truth, but the love they had for each other got them through it. And those sexy times were off the charts hot! This was such a great continuation of the Vampire Coalition series!

We also meet Daric, the Prince of the Vampire Healers and he played an important role in this story. I can not wait to get to his book next!

Each book in this series has gotten better and longer. I think the author is getting more attached to her series and wanting to expand it. This is the best one so far. I love how tormented Liam is and how he doesnt think he deserves a mate. And like his twin, Rory, he was friends with his mate before he realized it was her. But unlike his brother's mate, she knew that she was his mate. But she didnt tell him to protect him from the mages. I also like how the author changed things up for the mating ceremony, because I said in my last review that they were starting to all seem the same.

I am looking forward to the last book in this series. At first I was wondering why there was a fifth book with someone named Daric, since there are only four Hale brothers. But now that I know who he is, it should be good.

ANOTHER HALE BROTHER FINDS HIS MATE

Liam Hale is a vampire healer, he doesn't expect to find his mate. No vampire healer has mated for centuries.
His older brother Nathan is now mated to Sasha Taylor. Sasha is a Mage. They are not immortal like vampires but they live longer than humans. Sasha's sister Regan has become friends with Liam. But she has a secret, she knows she is his mate. But for reasons to do with her family she can't tell him. Liam has a secret as well, one that he has kept from his brothers. But when he discovers Regan's deception he's furious.

Another hot and sexy read from this author. I love her male leads domineering and sexy, with a soft centre. Liam is no exception. Regan is his perfect match. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

I really liked this 4th book of the Vampire Coalition. I think it was interesting that the mating rules changed a bit because of Liam being a healer. He spent months with Regan, his mate, never knowing that she was his mate. But SHE knew, and things got really interesting when he discovered that not only were they mates, but that she had kept it from him. He's no stranger to secrets himself though, and kept a big one from his brothers. I've really enjoyed all of the stories so far, even though the last one had a seriously underdeveloped plot. Scott is back on track with Liam's Mate, though, and I can't wait to read about the new, big and bad, character that was introduced in this novella.

I really like how the books become longer and more involved as the series goes on. I think the author is either falling more in love with her story or she's really getting a sense of it more as she goes along. Whatever the case, the novellas are awesome and this was another great installment.

The only thing that didn't impress me is Liam's response to what he believes to be true. I really wanted to smack some sense into him...stupid male pride...ugh!

Other than that this was great!

I wish they were all longer...lol!

This book has a great story line, but there were many grammatical and spelling errors in the book. Other than that I wish that the author would have taken the story to greater heights by adding to the story line. Regan gets her mark branded by the mage elders and is told that if she doesn't mate with a mage then they will kill Liam. You don't hear from the mage elders or the mage assassins at all in this book. I still believe that if they author included more into the story line then the book would have had a greater depth.

A Steamy Short Story About An Obsessive Alpha Vampire And His Mate. Comes With A Small Dose Of Danger And A Sense Of Family.

This is book four in The Vampire Coalition series. Each of the five books in the series is a short story, roughly forty to eighty pages long. These erotic quick reads pair paranormal and steamy scenes into a series of interconnected stories. It is best when these are read in order. There is a twenty-two page prelude to the series, The Rough Mating of a Vampire. That is Adare Connor and Kristin Sparks’ story and it introduces the mating ceremony. It is not necessary to have read that first, though Adare and Kristen are sometimes mentioned in this series and participate in some events.

In this world, vampires lack souls. They are born male, and the only way to attain their soul is to find their human-born soul-bonded mate. The human is born with a genetic mutation to allow for the mating. The female guards her mate’s soul, carrying both her own and her mate’s. During a mating ceremony, in which their identifying marks touch, the female transfers her mate’s soul. Until recently, no vampire had been bonded to his mate past the age of one hundred fifty. The urge to mate dissipates following a vampire’s one hundredth year. The female only survives until age thirty. If she has not found and bonded with her mate, she will die along with the soul of her intended mate.

Vampires live a lonely life unless they find their soul-bonded mate. Their lives include stealth and magic. They feed on blood, but their victims’ memories are wiped of the feeding, as humans are not yet ready to accept the existence of vampires. Vampire code dictates that vampires are not to kill at will, only to take blood as needed. The fallen are those vampires that have succumbed to feeding frenzies. Once that has happened, there is no going back. They must be destroyed for breaking the code.

Healers are a subspecies of vampire. Their work is demanding and drains their energy. They hate taking blood and typically postpone feeding as long as possible, but they need it to keep up their energy. Vampires eat human food as well, but that is mostly for entertainment – or in the case of a healer, avoidance. It takes a little more work for a healer to find his mate, but what is meant to be will be. Healers always have the option of refusing a mate if they find the idea bothersome. They aren’t called by their mates or ruled by the same immediate obsessive tendencies of regular vampires. For them, the need develops only after an intimate act takes place between the mates.

Books one through four are about the Hale brothers – Nathan, Ethan, Rory, and Liam. They are a couple centuries older than Adare Connor had been when he mated with Kristin Sparks. They are resigned to the existence of those vampires who fail to find their mates. Though lonely, the desire to be with a woman intimately leaves after just one century, so they devote themselves to hunting down the fallen of their kind. Their parents had fallen victim to the fallen, so it is personal to them. The Hale brothers live in the Denver area. Book five is about Daric, a vampire prince.

IN LIAM’S MAT, BOOK FOUR:

Liam is roughly four hundred years old. He looks just like his twin Rory, but there is one very important distinction between the two: Liam is a healer. He and his brothers were considered too old to find their mates, yet Ethan, Rory, and even his oldest brother Nathan have all found their mates recently. But Liam’s case is different. There has not been a healer to find his mate in over a millennium. Which is fine because Liam’s work as a healer keeps him busy.

The responsibility bestowed upon a healer is a heavy burden. While his brothers and other vampires often think healers are lucky, little do they know just how draining the work is. And Liam takes on more than his fair share of healing. But in the eight months since he has met Regan, Sasha’s younger sister, his life has been happy. As a mage healer, Regan has some vague understanding of what Liam is called to do. They have spent nearly every day together since meeting, and her company and insistence that he take time each day for himself is endearing. If he could choose her as a mate, her certainly would. But is doesn’t work that way. In fact, healers are a subspecies of vampire. Their mating works a little differently. The Book of Vampire Healer explains it all, though some points are vague.

Regan Taylor feels drawn to Liam, but there are some things he cannot know. It is for his own protection. She satisfies herself with enjoying his company, knowing that at some point she won’t be able to put off the inevitable.

This is the final book about the Hale brothers, but a new character is introduced. Daric, Prince of the Vampire Healers, makes his entrance here. He may be royalty, but he is not pretentious. He takes a liking to Regan as he steps into the story. He has never mated, but there are hints of a story to be told.

This steamy short story about obsessive an alpha vampire and his mate has a small dose of danger and a sense of family. The story is nicely written and plot-driven. It is written in third person. The POV alternates between the vampire and his mate. I rate this book four stars.

This one was definitely the best out of all of them, since it wasn't a repeat of everything. It was a completely unique situation. However I have to say, now that I've read it, I have one question. What about Daric's mate? I want to know about him now!

I have not been able to review the books because they were so short and there really wasn't a story, but this book was a great story. It showed that they had to fight for each other and had to overcome some huge odds. Such a great series, but most books lacked story.

Liam is so reserved and quiet; plus he holds duty of others above all things. It's odd that he eventually wants something for himself. But is he willing to risk sacrificing some of that duty for a "possible" mate?

Friends before lovers. A feel good love story wonderfully told. I enjoyed how this relationship developed from Liam's point of view. He knew Regan was special and wanted her to be part of his life. A very special bond.
