Burning Hell
From the authors of "Shin Angyo Onshi" a new manga set in Japan and Korea during the Edo period, a time of great upheaval between the two cultural groups. In ancient times, Japan and Korea would send its criminals to a penal colony called "Kyokudo", situated in the channel between the two nations. There the cannibal Juu was sent for murdering over a thousand warriors while in Edo. Yet for an island meant for criminals, there was but one Korean medic, Han, exiled from Korea for killing and dissecting over a thousand people.

Der Titel dieses Bandes ist recht irreführend, als wenn es sich um einen einzigen Titel handelt. “Burning Hell” und “Land der Götter” sind aber zwei völlig voneinander getrennte Geschichten die, zumindest auf den ersten Blick, nichts miteinander zu tun haben.
In der ersten geht es um einen Kannibalen, einen “Künstler” und ein Haufen Piraten, in der zweiten um einen Prinzen, einen ehemaligen General und eine Zombieplage.
In “Burning Hell” war der Gebrauch zweier unterschiedlicher Sprachen zwischen den beiden sehr effektiv für die Atmosphäre, vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass keiner den anderen versteht und doch sagen sie Dinge die sich oft komplementieren oder das genaue Gegenteil sagen. Beim Piratenkapitän (natürlich ein Engländer... was auch sonst...) war ich kurz etwas verwirrt, vor allem da die Gesetzte der Physik hier ja “anders” sind als in unserer Welt aber mein Verdacht hatte sich mit der Zeit dann doch bestätigt. Ich muss aber auch sagen, dass obwohl der Zeichenstil alleine den Preis des Buches wert ist, so war er doch in manchen Fällen viel zu detailreich für so ein kleines Format und das obwohl dieses Buch schon etwas größer als für Manga üblich ist. Ich denke eine Größe wie sie typischer für Comics und Graphic Novels ist, wäre besser geeignet. Und musste die Jungfrau blau-äugig und von schneeweißer Haut sein? Und die Wahl der Schriftart für die unterschiedlichen Sprachen hätte besser sein können, dann hatte ich wohl schneller gemerkt, dass der Japaner und Koreaner unterschiedliche Sprachen sprechen. Dennoch, die Geschichte selber war spannend und das Konzept, brachte Pfeffer in die Geschichte.

Das war doch eine alte japanische Währung? Gab es die einst auf der koreanischen Halbinsel? Das war aber zum Glück nur kurz. Danach brachte mich die Geschichte auch zum Nachdenken. Die Geschichte ist spannend, wenn auch etwas dumm, denn wenn hier nur jene von der Seuche verwandelt wurden, welche Menschenfleisch gegessen und dann von selber gestorben sind, warum sind Vater und Tochter dann von den Toten auferstanden? Sie wurden von anderen getötet. Und vielleicht wussten die Auftragsmörder nichts von der Seuche oder sind neu (da sie auch nicht wussten, dass der Prinz ein Kind ist), denn ansonsten war was sie hier taten einfach nur dämlich. Die zweite Geschichte hat ihre Stärken aber hinkt doch der ersten hinterher, weil am Ende einfach zu viel offengeblieben ist, dass nicht wirklich Sinn macht.

In Burning Hell, the use of two different languages between the two was very effective for the atmosphere, especially considering that no one understands the other and yet they say things that often complement each other or say the opposite. When pirate captain (of course, an Englishman ... what else ...), I was briefly a little confused, especially since the laws of physics here are "different" than in our world but my suspicion had then confirmed over time. But I also have to say that although the drawing style alone is worth the price of the book, it was in many cases far too detailed for such a small format, even though this book is a bit larger than usual for manga. I think a size more typical for comics and graphic novels would be better. And did the maiden have to be blue-eyed and snow-white? And the choice of font for the different languages could have been better, then I realized more quickly that the Japanese and Koreans speak different languages. Still, the story itself was exciting and the concept of brought pepper into the story.

Dammit.
I knew... I knew that this only has four issues and is discontinued but I really had to read it, huh? Now I'm stuck with this knowledge that this could actually be a great series but it would never come to that. I'm just gonna scream and go to bed... I guess.
P.S., this is super graphic, gory and violent so if you're thinking about reading it, consider yourself warned.

Bien que plusieurs personne semblent chialer sur le manga/manhwa Le Nouvel Angyo Onshi, je fait partie de ceux qui embrasse le vent de fraîcheur et de différence que cet oeuvre Coréenne (mais a production japonnaise) m’a apporté. Je dois dire que j’en voulais plus. Malheureusement les autres oeuvres de l’auteur et du dessinateur de cette série ne se trouvent pas facilement et surtout pas à bon prix. Par contre quand je suis tombé sur Burning Hell, a bon prix pour son épaisseur, je me suis empressé de me le procurer. Voici ce que j’en ai pensé.
Ce livre contient 2 histoires. La première celle de 2 super-criminels super fort et super dangereux qui se retrouve sur une île. On voit comment ils survivent sur l’île. La deuxième histoire est une histoire de zombie. Je ne peux en dire plus car ces histoire ont pour but d’introduire des monde comme certains auteur le font avec des one shot. Ici on a droit a 4 chapitre chaque d’histoire qui n’aboutiront pas vraiment. Dans ce recueille je dois dire que ce n’est pas nécessairement mauvais car, bien que les fins soient ouvertes, on est assez rassasier pour dire que c’est pas grave. Ça donne tout de même un bon moment de divertissement, mais rien de plus. Sa bouche un coin quand on voudrait plus de Angyo Onshi car on pourrait croire que c’est dans le même monde.
Au niveau du dessin par contre, là on a droit à une vrai oeuvre d’art. Le dessinateur s’est surpassé pour nous donné des dessins glauques, précis et surtout très travaillés. Du vrai bon travail. En plus le style graphique des deux histoire est très différent ce qui ajoute au plaisir de savourer les dessins des deux petites histoires. Sa ajoute beaucoup à la qualité du recueille.
Au niveau de l’ambiance et du monde, a moins de se faire croire qu’on est dans le même monde que Angyo Onshi, je peux dire qu’on est loin d’avoir un world building très développer. C’est à comprendre, chaque histoire ne fait que 4 ou 5 chapitres. Mais pour ce qui est de l’ambiance, on a droit à une réelle présentation d’un monde horreurifique où les démons, les zombies et les êtres malfaisant existe. Un beau travail encore ici.
C’est encore triste que Goodread ne permette pas les demi étoiles. Ce recueille mériterait la note de 3.5 au minimum et ne mériterais pas le 4 étoiles. C’est bon mais trop court pour vraiment en profiter. L’ambiance nous donne envie de plus, mais on en aura pas plus. Le dessin sauve carrément l’oeuvre, mais si on se fait seulement sur la qualité du graphisme pour évaluer un oeuvre, on serait mal barré sur tellement de série mauvaise qui ont de beau dessins. Ce petit recueille est la parfaite suite pour ceux qui veulent un peu plus du monde de Angyo Onshi. Même si ce n’est pas le cas, pour ma part je vais le voir comme un petit prolongement lier à l’histoire mais qui n’a aucun rapport. J’ai trouvé cette lecture très satisfaisant, divertissante mais rien de plus. Pour les fan de Angyo Onshi, car si vous n’avez pas aimer ça ne vous convaincra pas du contraire.

Sudah lama nggak baca komik Korea bentuk fisiknya *biasanya webtoon*. Pas tahu komik ini cuma 1 vol. dan yang menjadi konsep awal drama Kingdom, jadi pengen baca dan beli deh komiknya *belinya pake harga diskon, untungnya* ^o^.
Cerita 1: Burning Hell
Cerita awal ini pas nyari di baka ternyata udah ada dari tahun 2008. Tentang penjahat dari Jepang, Juu, seorang kanibal dengan Han, dokter Korea yang psycho karena pengennya ngulitin pasiennya ^^' dan mereka dipertemukan di pulau terpencil di mana penjahat-penjahat kelas berat dibuang di situ. Ceritanya cukup seru sih. Sayangnya cari-cari info, ternyata hanya one-shot saja. Padahal ada gambaran flashback Han. Terus nasib Catherine juga gimana deh? XD
Cerita 2: The Kingdom of the Gods
Nah, cerita ini yang jadi pioner terbentuknya drama Kingdom. Rilis ceritanya sendiri tahun 2014. Penulis Kim Eunhee juga ikut terlibat di dalamnya. Ceritanya tentang pangeran cilik yang diincar sama ninja bayangan karena kekuasaan. Terus minta tolong bandit buat anterin dia ke desa seorang tabib. Dimulailah perjalanan mereka berdua untuk ke desa tersebut. Menurutku, seru cerita ke-2 ini sih. Mungkin karena ada gambaran dari dramanya kali, ya, jadi ceritanya walaupun nanggung, tapi bisa tetap dinikmati. Tapi cerita ini beda sama dramanya. Malah pengen yang versi komik ini diadaptasi juga ^_^
For all, cerita komik ini cukup memuaskan walau endingnya nanggung banget. Kayaknya mesti ada sambungan cerita sih dari masing-masing ceritanya. Gambarnya juga bagus banget sih. Baru ngikutin di komik ini, tapi artnya langsung suka (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ).

Suka sekali dg duet In Wan dan Il Kwang, mungkin karena sesama Kangkokujin lebih padu. Il Kwan juga sudah menggambar utk penulis lainnya, namun menurut sy hasilnya tidak lebih memuaskan jika mereka berkolaborasi :))
Setelah manga (atau manhwa, krn yg nulis Kangkokujin hhe) Shin ANgyo Onshi berakhir tragis namun memuaskan ^0^ saya adalah salah satu dari pembaca yg ingin kembali merasakan angin segar berbeda lewat karya Korea (tetapi produksi Jepang) ini. Saya harus mengatakan saya ingin lebih. Jadilah ketika menemukan Burning Hell, dengan harga yang ....... dg ketebalannya, saya bergegas untuk mendapatkannya XDD
Buku ini berisi 2 cerita. Yang pertama adalah 2 penjahat beda negara yg super kuat dan super berbahaya yang menemukan diri mereka di sebuah pulau terpencil. Cerita kedua adalah cerita zombie. Dalam serial ini saya harus mengatakan bahwa itu cukup baik, meskipun endingnya terbuka (kalau kita simak di bakamanga updates, status serialnya memang dikampak hhe), lumayan puas secara keseluruhannya. Momen hiburannya memang tidak terlalu fantastis namun dapat dinikmati. Yang jelas, jika ingin lebih dr Angyo Onshi maka ini bukanlah hal yg sama.
Artwork tentu saja, sugoiii. Il Kwang memang memberikan nuansa lain ala2 Inoue Takehiho sensei. Pada beberapa momen pertempuran pedang, kita seolah melihat dunia Vagabond, meski tentu saja tidak melebihi hha..

Beli buku ini karna penasaran sama cerita The Kingdom of Gods dan baru sempet baca dibulan ini, padahal sudah menonton seriesnya lebih dulu. Ternyata jauh berbeda dengan seriesnya, itu membuktikan bahwa ada pengembangan cerita dari sebuah manhwa one shot.
Secara cerita cukup ok, meskipun terasa tanggung ceritanya. Mungkin jika ada pengembangan dari sisi Karakter dan Cerita akan lebih bagus jika ada Spin-off nya.

This is a dark comedy but only really fun for one read. I don’t see myself rereading this one.
