[Ménage Amour ManLove: Erotic Alternative Paranormal Ménage a Quatre Romance, M/M/M/M, werewolves, sex toys, HEA]
When Vencentio was rescued from his last pack, his life was supposed to get better. In a way, it did, but being locked up in a room in the High Council Estate where his wolf felt trapped wasn’t the new life he expected.
Alpha Carter Whelan shows up to ask Vencentio to join his pack after the Omega rules change, but it’s soon discovered no one in the Omega Network even knew Vencentio was at the High Council Estate. Terrified and wondering what sort of trouble he’s in, the Omega runs with Carter to Denver to seek help.
After fighting with Carter, Vencentio tries to run and ends up crashing into Marlow, a man with the prettiest green eyes ever. Later that night, he meets another god of a man, Galvin, who offers him something he’s never had before… A friend.
I know what I'm getting with these books, and this series in particular. The stories are all mostly the same. And I accept that the characters, especially the Omegas, in this series are usually pretty ridiculous. But the guy in this one was just nuts. I couldn't take it. Just because you've been abused doesn't give you license to hurt everyone around you, then gripe and whine about how no one understands you. It was just too much this time and I kept thinking why am I even reading this?
Vencentio is probably my favorite of all the omegas! Yes, they've all suffered through abuse and pain, but somehow Vencentio seemed the most honest to me with his rage and bitterness. His inner circle of Carter, Galvin and Marlow worked the hardest, in my opinion, to make the relationship work. Also, this was the first story where they arrive at the Alpha House and its NOT perfect and beautiful. It's a dump and, to me, that just seemed more realistic.
This is almost a joke now. It is starting to feel like a Junior High English project. Where everyone is given book one in the Resistant Omega series and each student is told to write a similar story. That is pretty much how I felt about every one that followed the first.
And PLEASE don't get me started on a romance writer writing a Menage or more in 1st person. It is bad enough that your reading a romance and only get one side of the story but there are two very series mistakes in that. First there are 3 other people in this relationship, what are they thinking a feeling. You really never know much about the other three people. And why does she pick the weakest, whinny-est person to write from. I just want to say "Grow a set"!!!
Not as exciting a read as the first 3 books of the series, it was a bit like book 4. I had to force myself to not skim/skip pages. Yeah sure I expected there to be lots of drama and whatnot and that's not really what bothered me. There was some elements of the dialogue that kind of bothered me and I just felt as if the author downplayed some serious issues. There wasn't anything really likable that stood out about the MC's and I can't actually say I feel bad for Vencentio and the ordeal he went through.
Far too formulaic and the character/relationship development is a total joke. At least what there is of it. The recovery arc for abuse is absurd as is the 'coming out' process for another character. Last in this series I'll read. Maybe last for this author.

This one is a step above the previous books in this series. Possibly throwing a werewolf who is catholic and straight into the beta mix adds just that little bit of omph!
This was a cute addition to the series, with some subtle differences that made the story just different enough so I didn't get bored. Yes, the overall plot line is still the same, but the type of power Vencentio has and how he deals with it, as well as the way he escapes the clutches of those who want to harm him was new. Like in the previous book, the focus here was on the healing more than the abuse, which I liked better.
Vencentio is in a horrible situation. He's been freed from his old pack (or so he has been told), only to be held prisoner by the High Council themselves (or so it seems). He spends a lot of time in wolf form, which helps him cope, but it doesn't make his situation better. And when help does arrive, he is far more distrustful than any of the other Omegas in the series - no wonder, he has been mistreated not just physically and emotionally, but "Councilman Douchebag" (a very apt name) has also screwed with his mind and perceptions. Vencentio has a long road ahead of him...
Carter, the alpha, is a great guy, but doesn't exactly have a lot of tact. It takes him a while to figure out how to help and deal with Vencentio. I can't blame him - this situation was more complicated than usual. I liked that, for once, he wasn't the overbearing macho type! Galvin, the Marine, and Marlow, who thinks he is straight, were less memorable, but they were good supporters of the forming bond between all four of them.
Just like for the other books in this series, if you're looking for a light, fun read and are in the mood for some main characters with a VERY healthy sex drive, or just want to know what happens next in this series, you will probably like this book.
I never expected these to be great books, but after reading six of these, I must admit, things are getting rather familiar and stale. There are subtle differences with the Omega's abuse and powers, but the plot is basically the same. All the Alphas and Betas (of the new circles) seem like the same character as they say and do basically the same thing. There needs to be more variation.
I do wonder though, not just with this series but other books by Joyee Flynn -- what's with all the first person POV? Is that all she writes now? I understand these books are about the Omega -- their abuse, feelings, journey, healing, etc -- and I can see why 1st POV would be considered, but I think 3rd would have worked just fine, especially if it was limited to the Omega, not omniscient. 1st POV is a hard one for erotica books, especially menage. I guess the way she gets around this is having the Alpha and Beta's feelings and thoughts come through at times via the Omega's gifts, but still...
This is one of my favorite werewolf series. The way that the Omega wolves aren’t these weak wolves but in fact have the most power makes this story great. Vencentio has been through hell, and just when he thought his life would get better, it doesn’t. Watching Vencetio, Carter, Marlow, and Galvin figure out how to make their menage mating and overcome obstacles adds a intricate level to the story. A well told, well developed love story, that while part of a series called Resistant Omegas, it can be read alone, but I highly recommend starting from the first book and tearing through the books. They’re hot and quick reads that have a great interwoven plot, while focusing on new menage pairings each time.
I love this series. There are 11 books available right now and I have them all and there is definitely enough characters and story for more! The author takes full advantage of the fiction genre and comes up with some fanciful stories and relationships, plus there is enough angst with the Omega they each should have their own full-time psychologist, instead they have 3 hot, sexy men to help heal them.
Hot - all the stories are m/m/m/m and full of angst, sex and love. The overall story line takes a big twist in #9.
3 1/2 stars - this series is definitely getting better as it goes along. The story here more than kept you interested, Vencentio's personal Omega powers, the problems and the eventual resolution to them keeping the book moving really well. Also, because he was so pissed off most of the time he didn't come across as the simpering bratty gay boy that all of the rest of them have had in spades.
Vencentio was getting on my nerves for most of the book. Then after he got with the guys, he seemed to mellow out. The ending was abrupt, and I wished it was a bit longer.
