Camille Dutton learned early in life Satan was not to be trifled with. Escaping his evil clutches as a child, he's come back with a vengeance for her now.

Derek Galloway's inquisitive nature has led him to be an award-winning investigative reporter and straight into the path of pure evil.

When a child vanishes from a sleepy island town, Camille, its subdued librarian, becomes embroiled in Derek's investigation. A satanic cult has plans for the child, while Satan has plans for Camille and the rest of the world. Amidst evil of the most supernatural and human kind, Derek and Camille find a shred of light and goodness in the form of their budding relationship.

First in the Book Waitress Series, the portal between Hell and Earth will be torn asunder, and it will take everything Camille and Derek have and then some to close it. Satan won't go down easy, but nothing worth everything comes without a price.

A great start to a new series from Deena Remiel.

The Book Waitress is a paranormal story filled with intrigue and suspense and a little bit of romance. A unique story - one of a kind that will certainly keep you glued to your reader the whole story.

Twists and turns , and a storyline that will certainly keep you rivited till you have turned the last page ;)

The plot was weak and the characters were shallow. Like most Christian fantasy fiction, and I try to avoid the genre, the female librarian, though she had a nice, quirky personality, turned into a bowl of quivering terror anytime anything even remotely scary started happening. It was up to the good, strong, male to always rescue her and save the day.

I really loved this story! Who knew what evil lurks within the confines of a library? The title is also very creative. Yes, a librarian does "serve up books" to her customers. Can't wait for book two!

*WARNING* The Book Waitress is nothing like Deena's previous series; The Brethren, so, if you're expecting more sexy angels here, you will be sorely disappointed. I know, I know, I love those men too. Now, don't pout and run away mad. Instead, get your evil butt kicking mojo rising and get ready for a new heroine and different kind of fight against a very old adversary.
So, you may be asking then, just what will you get with The Book Waitress?
Well let me tell you... An exciting and frightening trip into the mysterious and sometimes shocking world of the occult.
You get to travel with Camille to Shelter Island. A town full of dark and deadly secrets...a town apparently and unbeknownst to it's residence, controlled by a disciple of Satan... (Satan??? Oh, yes...this story is very very dark.) A town where evil runs rampant and no one questions the bizarre or unexplained.
That is until our sweet, sarcastic and slightly agoraphobic librarian steps off the ferry to fill in temporarily at the Shelter Island Library. Cammy is a smart cookie. She follows her gut...which is telling her to RUN before she even approaches her destination, but it's only for a short while, right? Once she's on the island, she finds her temporary home is quite charming and settles in quickly. Next stop, her home away from (her newly rented) home, the Shelter Island Library. A librarian's dream. A place she describes as having a historic pedigree. A place that houses books found nowhere else.
A place where... she's immediately confronted with oddities and antics of her colleagues and the libraries other inhabitants in the form of ghosts. Are these spirits trying to scare her or help her discover what's really going on? Well, I'm certainly not going to give that away.
What I will tell you is Camille quickly discovers she should always listen to her intuition. She discovers there is way more than meets the eye to this small town. And she discovers an ally in a charming and disarming investigative reporter. And this is just the beginning...
This tale is scary intense and will have you biting your nails waiting to see what happens next. Full of action, snark and spice. Ripe with ritual and entertaining characters (both good and very, very bad),
The Book Waitress is paranormal suspense ala mode. We all SCREAM for, well, you get what I'm saying here.
So, if you're looking for something a bit different, a bit darker, a bit more macabre with a little bit of sexy...then this story is sure to fit the bill. Order up NOW!

Ah, Cammy? I'm ready to check out!
Until book 2...

DON'T FORGET THE TIP!!!

Woot woot, another great series by the phenomenal author Deena Remiel!!!! I am a HUGE fan of Deena’s writings, and as of yet I haven’t been disappointed by anything that she has written. I have loved all her books.
As I eagerly awaited the release of The Book Waitress I had refused to read any snippets or excerpts were teasers, I wanted to enjoy the experience as a whole once it was released. And man was I completely elated with the start of this new series! *flyz around excited*
I love my boys, The Brethren but I also know that this series is one that will and has me hanging on to yet another spectacularly written storyline by Deena. It’s addicting as with all her books.
The Book Waitress will keep you reading well into the wee hours as you follow Camille and Derek in their investigations or quests. What you will they find isn’t what you’d think at all … or maybe it is!
The Book Waitress has some amazing characters that you’ll instantly fall in love with, Camille and Derek are both incredible as main characters. Author Deena Remiel you have a perfect match making gift with your characters that has me cheering every time as I see them meld together as the story grows.
Team Camille/Derek are a dynamic duo, although at first they seem like an unlikely pair. Derek is so full of humor and such a strong character, while our shy Camille is a loner, at ease with her books (and ghost). Yet as the age old saying says “That opposite attract” and in this case they sure do.

My oh my, there is so much that unfolds in this short story as the storyline is laid into place for us, that also leads up to some shocking events that are discovered. Yet, leaving enough room with plenty of mystery, and suspense for book two, “Devil Du Jour” to take off running as you dive straight into it. WOW
If you haven’t had the opportunity to start this great series, then I suggest that you take the time and find out what all the hype is all about. You won’t be disappointed one bit, I promise!!

I downloaded The Book Waitress as a free Kindle book deal at least a year ago, so, when I was having trouble sleeping last night, I clicked on the cover having totally forgotten what it was about. As it turns out, it was a quirky rom-com that shifted gears into a God vs. Satan action story, which, looking at the novel's page on here, I'm sure I knew at some point. Having forgotten that, this book got a good run of time in which I was really delighted by how totally insane it is. I can't easily argue with, "Well, she was talking to the cute boy reporter, and now Satan has an actual speaking role," so I did have some fun reading this.

The reason why I'm only giving this book two stars is that, despite its exuberant refusal to stick to any given tone or narrative structure, is that for all its lunacy, the dialogue in this book feels kind of flat. When the romantic leads are bantering, it does work, but during the action bits, there's not a lot of personality. The narrative writing can come off as slightly awkward, too, which isn't helpful. This book also suffers from being the first book in a series and, as such, having a dreadfully inconclusive ending, which I always find frustrating. The way in which it handles being what seemed to be a Christian novel is odd, too. This has some fairly unsettling torture, but at the same time, characters will face life and death situations with a plucky exclamation of "rats!" It's an odd juxtaposition that stands out more than it might have otherwise due to my other problems with the style.

The Book Waitress didn't strike me as the start of a series that I'll keep reading, but for a free Kindle novella, it's loopy enough that I had a good time reading it.

"The Book Waitress" is a refreshing suspense novella chocked full of mystery and intrigue. Twenty four year old Camille Dutton lost her parents three years prior and recently against her objections has been assigned a temporary position as librarian on Shelter Island. She considers herself a book waitress, someone who serves us good reading materials to patrons.

As soon as she arrives on the island and before she manages to unpack her bag, she is called into the library where she meets her disagreeable new boss. However, she also meets a handsome library patron by the name of Derek. He is an investigative reporter, reporting on a recent kidnapping of a little boy as well as a string of kidnappings dating back over 40 years.

While putting away periodicals, Camille discovers there are two ghosts living in the building. One is malevolent and the other protective. While Derek researches the mysterious disappearances of the children, he and Camille uncovers a history of evil by a Satanic cult, that has supposedly been dissolved. Additionally, it is discovered that the very library they are in has also been the seen of sacrifices and crimes.

Camille's evil boss wants her off the island while the President of the Board of Libraries has plans for her in a ritual sacrifice. Only Camille know of her early childhood brush with the devil and she is not eager to repeat this experience. "The Book Waitress" sets the stage for the series and future books to come. I cannot wait to see what Derek and Camille will have to face. One thing for sure, they will be facing it together.

The Book Waitress is anything BUT a story about a librarian and her books. Add a Satanic cult, missing children, and Camille seeing the Devil himself as a child and you've got one Hell of a story!

Camille is a librarian that has been assigned to work at Shelter Island Library. It is a historic building that houses a horrific past. On her first day, unexplained occurences and meeting her boss leaves Camille second guessing her job. But then Derek, an investigative reporter shows that there are nice people on the island and an attraction is sparked from their first encounter.

Together, Derek and Camille set out to find what happened to the missing children and what secrets the little town and library are hiding. But at what cost?

Deena is proving to be an outstanding writer. From her Brethren Series to the Book Waitress Series, she is constantly keeping the reader on their toes and wanting more. Her attention to detail and creative storylines make for some excellent reading material!

If you've read anything else by Deena, you know that one of the best parts of her stories, one of the biggest themes, is good versus evil. She excels at writing characters that are so evil and sinister that you literally get chills from time to time. In her main series the good guys are angels, but what happens when the good guys are just two ordinary people? What happens when these two ordinary people, Camille the delightful Librarian and Derek the handsome investigator, are battling against the devil himself? Deena triumphs once again! I loved this short. It's hauntingly good. (hehe...because there are ghosts in it! ^_^)

Follow Camille, Derek, and several other interesting characters through the beginning of this riveting brand new tale. Horror, suspense, and hints of romance join together to create a story that you'll finish in one sitting and have you dying to find out what happens next!

Pick up Deena's addicting new series. You'll not be disappointed!

Camille is a librarian who is sent to Shelter Island to help out at a library that is understaffed. Her 1st day of work it is clear she and her boss will not be friends. Add in at least 2 ghosts, one nice and one mean. Then a nice, attractive male investigator trying to research missing 6 year old children. At least one of the ghosts is leaving messages with journals of a satanic cult. According to the local papers the cult was disbanded years ago. But Camille and the investigator - Derek - are coming to different conclusions. Who on the Island can be trusted? Or are they all part of the cult. Why are all the missing children 6 years old, and why is Camille suddenly having dreams where Satan is claiming her? When Camille goes missing, is Derek up to the task of finding both her and the 6 year old boy before it is too late?
I gave this book a 3* rating mainly because there is more story to be told in Book 2 and I felt this book lacked a real ending.

OMGosh what a good ~vs~ evil thrill ride we have here.... The world building is consisitant and perfectly paced, the mystery is suspenseful and intriguing, keeping me wondering where this wonderful author was going to take me next. Well written and easy to follow, this fact-paced read is sure to please.

The characters are amazing, well developed, and believable.... Meet Camille Dutton, who is not a people person type of a librarian who is transferred to a new library, where she meets Derek Galloway, an investigative reporter, clumsy around women and on a quest of his own, things start to really take off embarking on a mysterious journey of the paranormal that makes this a phenomenal story line.

I would recommend this book to paranormal readers out there who like stories with a thrill ride inside... Cannot wait for Book 2

First I would like to thank author Deena Remiel for writing The Book Waitress. I received my copy as a free eBook and Amazon.

The Book Waitress is a dark and twisting story that will keep you an edge and reading.

A new take on the old tale of good vs. evil The Book Waitress was different then other good vs. evil books that I have read in the past and I liked it very much.

I liked that the characters are down to earth and that you can relate to them, and to what they are going through.
Plus is leaves us at a cliff hanger, leaving you wanting to know more about the characters. Also if good beats evil? Or evil beats good? , don’t know but I will hopefully once I get a hold of the second book, Devil Du jour. I cant wait!!!!

Love that the main character is a librarian and a book lover. Combined with the supernatural elements, this is the perfect book for me.

I like Camille, the main character. The Satan worshippers she encounters are truly evil and scary. The story takes place on an island, which has a small population and limited access. Apparently, a large portion of the residents are evil, and have been for generations. The action is fast paced and exciting. It was a little hard for me to believe that no one on the island was aware of the presence of the cult. The cult members that we meet seem very unpleasant. Didn't anyone notice what they were up to? And a child sacrifice every 6 years? It seems that would have drawn more attention.

So this is the first book in a proposed new series. It could be interesting. I will have to see how it turns out.

This is the first book I've read of Miss Remiel's and I have to say she did not disappoint.

Camille Dutton is a fascinating protagonist who finds herself on an island community where she' is expected to simply work at the local library. "i'm a book waitress" she keeps telling people. Nothing more, nothing less. She doesn't consider herself amazing or unusual. But she soon finds herself the target in a Satanic plot, that is linked to incident from her childhood that she'd all but forgotten.

Before long she realizes there are few if any people she can trust as the cult and the dark one himself begin to close in on her.

Excitement and surprises await the reader in this first installment of the Book Waitress Series. I can hardly wait to get my hands on the second installment.

I ended up enjoying this book which honestly took me by surprise. It started off rocky and had it odd moments. Some of it seemed a bit off and not to smooth, but in the end it pulled together.

Camille is sent to a library on a small island and unknowily is part of a Satanic Cults plans to raise the Devil and bring Hell on earth. She is awkward at times but very relatable to all of us quite socially challenge bookworms. I did see many things in her that made me laugh because I related so well.

Derek her love intrest and investigative reported in awkward himself. The chemistry between these to is lacking though, sweet, but lacking. There isn't much of an actual romance and what little there is rushed and very pg-13.

When I first began reading this book, I was intrigued. Camille the librarian who gets sent to work at Shelter Island Library (which holds more secrets then anyone wants her to know or find out) it is immediately evident that she is not wanted there. Then she meets Derek an investigative reporter who is ready to find out what the secrets are and where the missing children are. This was a great paranormal in which I really felt that I could take the journey with them I was trapped with the characters and felt that I could give you a true synopsis of who the characters were and what they were apart.

Another excellent read by Deena Remiel!

Camille Dutton is a sweetly naive young woman who adores her job as a Librarian. She's good at heart and quite shy. I liked her a lot.

Derek Galloway is a good guy trying to get the info needed to solve crime that has lasted years. Most reporters are portrayed to be very jaded and sly where as Derek has been portrayed as a kind and and good natured report.

Children have been disappearing for years and there's unexplained deaths but everything seems to be swept under the carpet. It takes Camille moving to the little island and Derek investigating to really stir things up.

This is an easy read and it flows well from beginning to end. There's intrigue/mystery, romance and good versus evil. I recommend you give it a try.

A bit of awkward start..

Camille is a librarian - describes herself as a book waitress - serving up what others want to read. She is socially awkward and definitely more at home with her books than people. She is currently "on lone" from her home library to the Shelter Island library ...

Derek is a reporter on Shelter island investigating several child dissapearances and he's a bit socially awkward too..

This makes for some very awkward scenes between them. The plot thickens an evil abounds... And we find out Camille was "marked" by the devil at the age of six after a drowning incident

Story was interesting and did I mention a bit awkward. The end was abrupt, I guess I didn't realize it was a novella, so I'm off to read author installment.

I liked the idea of this story and it did start out a bit slow for me as I am used to more action packed novels. I admit I did keep waiting for something major to happen and felt that there should have been more action leading up to the ending. I thought the characters could have been a bit more developed but it was a sweet love story of sorts and while the plot was a bit predictable at times it was a light fun read.

Good story, well written. I am beginning to hate the stories that cut off abruptly to be continued in a next book, which is why this one doesn't get a full 5 stars… I think it’s a disservice to the reader not to give an ending to the book with a hint of something more- instead this book just ends. Very annoying. Probably won't get the next one because it will most likely do the same thing, No satisfaction from this one.

Ok quick read. Got it as a freebie on amazon. Start of a series. Basically a satanist cult has a small town completely controlled. Enter new librarian and a investigative reporter. The writing was good but the main reason I removed some stars was 1) it didn't make me want to immediately get the next one and 2) there were a few times I just didn't understand why the characters would do the things they did. Plot was a bit thin.

I read this as part of the Wrong Guy box set that is no longer listed on Amazon. I have to say, in a book full of adult, sexy romances, this one was very juvenile. The main character was supposed to be extremely intelligent yet acted like a teenager. I didn't find her interesting at all. I caught myself rolling my eyes several times and to make it worse there were two of these stories in the book. I only read this first one.

This book was amazing. I couldn't put it down. My husband bought me the series and I have to say I am so glad he did. Reading about how Camille and Derek met, their awkwardness toward each other and so much more. I love how they fall for each other and how they are working together to get things done. I believe they have become one of my favorite sets of characters. Deena you out did yourself with this book. I love it. This series is a must get.....

This was the first book that I've read by Deena Remiel, and it made me a life-long fan!

I loved all the characters (that weren't evil), was scared by scary characters, and cheered Camille on the entire time.
I couldn't wait to read the second installment of the Book Waitress (Devil Du Jour).

This is definitely a series that I will anxiously await each new book!

The characters were pretty cool. Cammy was super funny and socially awkward, loved that. Derek was just kinda perfect? It was a nice Satanic cult read, my first, but I don't see myself continuing. Kinda creepy what some peoples beliefs will do to their consciences.
