Q&A a Day

Rate this book
Do you ever stop to wonder how you got where you are? The Q&A a Day Journal shows you what was going through your head each day—for five years of your life. Simply turn to today’s date, answer the question at the top of the page, and when you finish the journal, start over. As you return to the daily questions again over the years, you’ll notice how your answers change (or don’t)! With questions that are sometimes provocative (“On a scale of one to ten, how happy are you?”), occasionally quirky (“What can you smell right now?”), and inevitably interesting (“If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?”), this classically designed journal—embellished with beautiful details—is the perfect gift for anyone embarking on a new phase of life.

It's not really a book per se and I'm not finished with it because it's supposed to take one through 5 years but I thought this was great to start the year with.
I found it during some Christmas shopping and loved the idea. The book has a page for every day of the year. Every day, there is a question. One has 4 lines in which to answer the question (you can answer it 5 times, once every year).
Very interesting concept and I'm looking forward to filling the pages and re-visiting my past thoughts.

Año 3 (2019): Me encontré varias veces no sabiendo qué responder.

I bought this book a few months ago. I LOVE it. It is a daily journal that you record your thoughts for 5 years. Basically, every page has a date with a question. So just an example...January 2 page would have the question "Can people change?" You would write your response. The fun thing is that for the following years you would write your response and see if your feeling have changed. I love this book it really is fun to see how your feeling and thoughts can change within a 5 year span.

I absolutely love this book! I wanted it for a while and it is perfect! I do not have time to write about my day, so answering one question per day really fulfills that need to journal for the day. This is prefect! I can't wait to keep filling it out in the years to come! <3

Year 4-2025 review- excited for the last year need to be more consistent with it especially for the final year.

Year 3- 2024 review to come.

Year 2- Journaling for the second year in a row and answering the same prompts really highlights the growth or how similar things remain. I am reminded of the quote ‘nothing really changes but everything changes’.

This year I haven’t really been enjoying answering the prompt maybe because the appeal has worn of but it does make me think and really realise how far I have come from just a year ago. I think journaling is worth doing only if it is just to see how far you have come and how the answers change. I think because this year was challenging for me in general and because I got out of journaling and keeping a diary is why I didn’t enjoy it as much. However I have brought a new diary and one of my new years resolution is to journal more but also not just generalise my answer but really think it through answer it and even carry it on by writing more on a page or a word doc really answering the question. I can’t actually believe it will be my third year journaling and I really want to have some goals when I am journaling so I can do it productively something that I can look back on and am proud of.

How am I writing this my first year complete? So I have been updating my journaling on here but I can’t believe I am doing my first-year wrap-up. I have always wanted to keep a journal, I have always kept a diary from when I was younger on and off but have always kept it up, just day what took place, etc. With a journal, I feel it is deeper because it asks you questions in a way you have to reflect, think and actually take time to answer. I don’t know how I came across this but I thought it was perfect because whenever I started a journal myself I couldn’t keep up with it and I got too overwhelmed going down the journal aesthetic YouTube videos, and Pinterest pictures, and then what journal to pick and all the accessories to pick from on Etsy. I brought this from Amazon and thought it was amazing, a journal that I could keep and use for 5 years, but most of all just a prompt a day which I could easily commit to. And here I am a year later. Would I recommend it, absolutely because for beginners like me this is so simple to commit to and a really easy and encouraging way to get into journaling? The prompts all of them I personally wouldn’t have put in had I written them myself but I can do that when I journal myself. My first year reflection, I think it is hard to say because it is my first time doing it, was I successful in keeping up with it and writing in it, yes. I think I am most excited about journaling this year and comparing how my answers change or stay the same because that is what it is about. I want to see how my answers evolve, but also I feel this is also a part of my diary because it is a journey of how far I have come. One of the first questions of this journal is what is your mission, which I kind of treated like a yearly resolution of what I want to achieve and I feel like if I put a percentage on it I have achieved a modest 65% of it which I am really proud of. But already looking back it makes me nostalgic to think of what my goals were and what I have and haven’t achieved. It also is a reminder of where I once was and where I am now. I am just a sucker for nostalgia and romanticise everything let me have these moments. There is a quote on the front book from Andy Warhol (high school art students remember him) that says ‘they always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.’ I feel very apt, so I am excited, nervous, anxious, and ready for the new year and all the adventures-high, and low, it brings, I am ready to start another year in my journal, another year to grow, to make mistakes, to learn, to meet new people, finish year (by passing insha’Allah) starting a career. Reading so many books, binging and streaming series, listening to podcasts and audiobooks and so, so many more things. I would highly recommend this to anyone thinking to start out in journaling or even those who journal already because the prompts are really good.

Q & A a Day, by publisher Potter Style, is a really neat five-year journal. Yes, I said five-year. After making your way through the first year, you go back to the beginning of the book and begin filling out the entry slots for an entire new year! How cool will it be to compare who and where you are from year to year? Personally, I think really cool. A time capsule, so to speak.

I label this as an easy entry journal. Jot down 3 or 4 lines and voilà! you’re done for the day. I’ve owned many journals/diaries through the years and many of them consist of a few entries in January, m-a-y-b-e an entry in February, followed by a bunch of blank pages. Not with this one. There’s no need to wrack my brain trying to think of enough stuff to fill a complete page. (You guessed it. I lack discipline. And patience.)

With unique, fun to answer questions, you jot down a thought or two in less than a minute, making it more likely that you actually participate. In my quest for making life and home simpler and less congested, this little book is perfect for me.

Easy peasy = happy me.

Here are examples of journal question prompts:

Where do you want to travel to next?
What are you obsessively listening to?
How could today have been better?
If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
You want a new _______.
What do you always avoid?
Who was the last person to make you angry?
What is your favorite cereal?

This handy journal is approximately 4.5” x 6", and with 368 pages it’s over an inch thick. It’s simple in design, and even simpler in its concept. I recommend it to any writer, journal keeper, or office supply junkie. It’s the perfect coffee table book and conversation starter.

5 whopping hearts!

The last time I actually kept a consistent journal was…well, never. I have great intentions, and religiously fill it with my thoughts, adventures, and even boredom for the first month—maybe even two if I'm extra determined to do better than I did the year before. After the spurt of energetic I-will- write-every-single-day, the rest of the journal gathers dust instead of thoughts.
Q & A a Day by publisher Potter Style makes this task easy to complete —and I like easy because I'm basically lazy. It's a neat little five-year journal, with questions on each page. There's just enough room to write a couple of sentences each day. Tah-dah! Quick, easy and pretty dang fun! Every page has a spot for each year. Kind of a cool way to see your progress, huh?
Here are just a few examples of the questions:
What can you live without now?
What is your favorite thing to do on a Sunday morning?
What can you smell right now?
If you could acquire a talent (without any effort), what would it be?
I believe I will actually keep consistent entries with this journal. The questions are a mixture of silly, serious and thought-nudging inspiration to prod at least a couple of sentences out of me.
The compact size (approx. 6x4"), and gold-edged pages, (I like shiny) are a plus. I highly recommend this book to anyone who can't seem to fill a journal from front to back.
Five hearts from me!

I love this book! The main reason why I got this book is because I was or am on the edge of some very interesting years. This journal will be my daily companion until I'm 27 (I'm 22 now), and I couldn't have wished for a better partner in crime.

I started this journal the 31th of August, the day I moved to Peru for 5 months. It seemed like a perfect little book to take with me, to answer some of these questions while I was in a completely different environment. Every night I take a few minutes to think about these fun, lighthearted and interesting questions and it really helps me to relive my day and find an answer. Some of these questions are really random like 'list everything you ate for a week', but some are really challenging like 'what are your top 3 wishes?'
I can't wait to read my responses 1 year or 5 years from now, I never skip a day!

My bonus daughter gave this to me for Winter Solstice last year.
I don't do it every day, but I have filled in every entry for the year of 2016.
I was so excited to see how 2016 and 2017 compare and couldn't wait for January 1 to come. It is very fun comparing. So far some have changed and some have not.
I love the concept! I'm giving it 4 stars, instead of 5, because I think the questions could be a little more unusual, creative, and spiritual.
Changed my mind. I gave it 5 stars. It is so fascinating to see what changes in 5 years and what doesn’t. Too cheap to buy another book , but will continue the practice on paper!

I've had this journal for about three weeks now and so far I absolutely love it! The questions are a perfect mix of silly and thought-provoking. The answer lines are laid out in rows on each page that you label with the year so you can easily see your responses organized chronologically. Here are a few example questions included in the book:

What do you need to throw away?
If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
Are you wearing socks?
Where do you see yourself in five years?
What was the last take-out meal you ordered?

I'm very excited to see how my responses change over the next five years of filling this journal out!

I purchased the book/journal for my daughter, she loves it. I sometimes ask her what's the question of the day so I can share it on social media. As my families historian, I would've loved to have one of these journals from an ancestor. I would have been able to learn so much about that person and the things/events going on in the world through their eyes during those 5 years, I get chills just thinking about it.

So I purchased one for myself and 9 other family members. That's a total of 11 books.

I may not be finished with this one until the end of the year, but it's basically a question a day. I really like it and it kind of helps me see where I've come and where I've gone through the years. There are 5 year slots for every day for an answer to the question. I can't wait to finish it completely and see how things have changed. By the time I finish, I'll be in grad school!

My lovely daughter gave this to me in a Mother's Day gift basket. Completely delighted with this thought provoking journal. Daily prompts. The spaces provided are perfect for daily musings, random thoughts, are whatever a mind can come up with. Have a favorite quote you'd like to remember? Jot it down. Love my little book of thoughts and words. My thoughts! Perhaps my children or grandchildren can one day appreciate my ramblings. One day. ;)

This is a book Mike and I were given for our wedding. So we started it on our wedding day. He is much more faithful about it than I am, but it is so fun every day to see what we wrote the previous year(s). It is amazing the growth in our relationship in 2+ years! It was the perfect gift!

While this was gifted to me in 2017, this was the first year I was dedicated to finishing all the prompts. Some prompts were enjoyable and easy to answer while some needed a bit of thinking to be able to answer properly. It’s also a great memory capsule of what one was doing or how much character growth has happened from year to year.

I love this book. If you are looking for an alternative to a "normal diary"- this one rocks! It´s one question a day, these questions vary so much that you´re always surprised and I feel it´s easy to do it every day. When you start your second year- what I do is I cover my answer from the previous year, I write down my answer and then I look what I wrote before. It´s so interesting!!! Same question but usually a different answer (at least for me). And what I do I also think back: what situation was I in last year? Where was I when I wrote this down. I usually remember, but because sometimes I don't- now I've started to be a bit more specific in what I write, so that when I read it in years time I know what I was talking about. I simply love this diary.

Bought this as a gift and love it so much that I think I may buy one for myself before the year begins. I love that it was so many different questions but allows you to focus on only one per day. A great way to keep track of memories and moments in your life throughout 5 years without feeling the need to go into too much detail. It includes big questions like, "Can people change?" and small questions like, "What was the last fruit you ate?" I hope the person I am giving it to uses it well and enjoys it as much as I do.

I started my first journal in 2011 when I was 20. I’m into my second book at now 29 and I love it so much. It’s amazing to see just how much I’ve changed and transformed in 9 years. What was important to me in 2011 is very different now.
It’s just a nice keepsake that i intend to keep up for my phone life. My first book travelled to 31 countries with me and this current book has been to 8 others. Considering how much it’s travelled, the books have held up very well!!

Definitely recommend

I started one of these in 2013 and finished it in 2018, between the ages of 16 and 21, and it's always really fun to look back and see what my different answers were for each year. It's a little cringey and embarrassing, but also sweet to think back to what I was thinking back then. I'd honestly like to do another one now that I'm older, because it's amazing how much people can change in a few years.

I started this in 2011, and I just finished it up this year. I know it says only five years...but life is busy and sometimes I would skip prompts leaving blanks. I enjoyed this journal, and I plan on getting another. It is a treat to read your thoughts from previous years and see how much you have grown OR to see how much something still means to you. I sent a copy to my sister last year. I hope she’s enjoying it as much.

Idea of this is just fabulous. It’s just the conviction one needs to actually keep this with you everyday for 5 years. I think I only ever got to write on this for a bit over half of the 5 years. A lot of them I just back answered ‘cause I forgot to answer it for a while. Near the end, I really just stopped answering it.

Great book, but needs conviction.

I love these short, manageable prompts for a quick little Q&A each day. I made it through all the prompts for this year of 2021. I look forward to continuing this habit for the next four years, and seeing how my answers change or stay the same. I bought this book for myself, though I absolutely would have loved receiving it as a gift.

Nos últimos 5 anos, “Uma Pergunta Por Dia” me acompanhou.
