They may be the monsters of nightmares… but they’re my deepest fantasies.
I thought I’d dreamed up the shadow realm, the Dark Castle, and the three monstrously handsome men of that world.
But they’re very real—all of it is, including the danger I’m in.
A great evil wants to claim me, but I’m not helpless. Not anymore. In this shadow realm, I have magic.
Prince Airic, Knight Reis, and shapeshifter Wels are helping me learn how to use it, but it’s their bodies I crave the most. They’re the flame that sets me ablaze… and ignites my magic, too.
A bloody war is looming on the horizon and controlling the chaotic power inside me is the only way to put Airic rightfully back on the throne.
Otherwise, darkness will devour everything, and this world, along with the monsters I love, will be lost to me forever.
The Kingdom of Monsters series is a fantasy monster romance with some darker themes, lots of steam, and is a story where the heroine will end up with more than one love interest.
This box set includes all books in the Kingdom of Monsters series, including the prequel— Shadow Prince , Cruel Shadows , Necessary Evil , and Wicked Reign —plus bonus character illustrations.
Harper A. Brooks may be a Jersey girl at heart, but now she likes to hideout in the mountains of Virginia with bigfoot and all his little woodland friends. Even though classic authors have always filled her bookshelves, she finds her writing muse drawn to the dark, magical, and romantic. When she isn’t creating entire worlds with sexy shifters or legendary love stories, you can find her either with a good cup of coffee in hand or at home snuggling with her furry, four-legged son, Sammy.

This boxset is for the complete Kingdom of Monsters series that include a prequel and books 1-3. This will contain all of my individual reviews on each book!
**Shadow Prince Prequel: A great prequel to the Kingdom of Monsters! We finally get more in depth to how Airic and Stella met and how they interacted in the beginning.
It’s clear they were both smitten instantaneously from the beginning with each other. We knew what had happened from the last book but this just solidifies it all for us.
”She’s the key to everything, but as long as the key is lost, things are safe.”
It’s always great to have as much backstory as possible, so I love that the author wrote this little piece so we got to know how it all began. Also, with Stella and Airic’s meeting in the beginning, it pretty much set off everything. It was because of her that his father brought his cousin, Wels over and enforced that Airic should choose Reis as his second. It set the course for both of their futures without even realizing it.
A great prequel to a great story!
“You have magic. Real magic. The change the world kind of magic.”
*Overall 5/5 *No heat *Dual first person POV *Super quick read *Perfect prequel to series
**Cruel Shadows Book 1 "Beautiful and Incandescent..."
What would you do if you literally met the man from your dreams??
When Stella was a girl, she used to dream about the dark Shadow land and Prince Airic. They were some of her best memories, until one day... they weren't. Now as an adult after overcoming a long, tiring yet eventful day - Stella closes her eyes to her past. Only this feels more real than ever and when she awakes, she finds herself able to cross into that realm wide awake.
After been told to never come back, Stella is not welcomed as so she thought and goes from one prison to another. She needs answers, she needs interaction and most of all she needs Prince Airic to explain. One thing for sure is that her craving and desire for Prince Airic, his head knight, Reis and Airic's cousin Wels is at a scorching all-time high. She never seems to calm down even when they all infuriate her.
After being locked away and only able to come out in minimal situations, does she start to find out little things here and there. Someone, much darker is after her. It could be life as she knows it. Can Airic, Reis and Wels keep her safe? Or will they just lock her back up like a toy to play with?
This book had an amazing storyline. One I can't wait to continue... I am hoping book two speeds up a bit and we get more answers. While we were given lots of answers at the end of book one, I have a feeling we are in for a wild ride.
"Come with me. Let's have an adventure. Let's get the F out of here and do something sinful."
*Overall 4.5 *Heat? 5/5 *Fast/Med Burn *Light MM -(just kissing) probably will be more... *Multiple first person POV - Mostly Stella *Ends on cliffhanger
**Necessary Evil Book 2 This book takes off right where book 1 ended. Only is goes from 0 to 100 pretty fast and Stella finds herself locked away from both her world and the Shadow world.
When she is rescued and returned back to the Shadow world - things are different. Nothing like they were before. Now, Malachi is crowning himself Prince and Prince Airic is being hunted.
With a target on their back and Stella’s magic coming in stronger, the world seems to be falling apart around them. Quickly Stella realizes her sex magic is of the utmost importance. With multiple “powers” that can heal and see things no others can, she is questioning it all.
“…You’re the key and there’s a lock, and I have that lock.”
When one of her lovers is in trouble, the worst scenario happens and Stella is forced to walk away. Can she make things right? Will the lock be something she can find? Can she survive everything that is yet to come??
This book definitely moved along faster than book 1, but I wished their was more plot. (In this book specifically) The steam cranked up, but I was left wanting more of a emotional connection between the characters. I am curious to see how book 3 will go, and can’t wait to see how the author will move this story. I look forward to more.
*Overall 4/5 *Heat? 5/5 *Multiple first person POV *MFMM Romance *Triggers !!! (Check before) *Ends on light cliffhanger
**Wicked Reign Book 3 Love Conquers Everything
This book finally brings the series full circle and Stella finally gets the answers she's been desperately searching for.
Reis is in Malachi's clutches yet with Stella's magic and when they get down to her "feelings" they can all still feel him and know that he is still alive. But for how long? To get more answers Stella heads back to her world and comes face to face with a reality that is no longer hers.
Airic and Wels finally come together for the sake of Stella and everything she means to them. When they take on Malachi, will they be able to take over and change what he has done? When they find out Malachi is on a war path to not only take over Shadow World, but all of the worlds, what will happen if Stella isn't strong enough?
This book was steamy. I personally was a little confused at the end with the lock and key meaning but I enjoyed the story none the less. I loved all of these characters and felt like it ended on a perfect note. The author created a new world that was born of its own type of monsters that I hope we aren't saying goodbye to just yet. As always, I look forward to more from this author and am sad to see Stella and her guys story come to an end.
*Overall 4/5 *Heat? 5/5 *Fast Burn *Multiple first person POV *MFMM Romance *Ends on HEA
This boxset is the complete Kingdom of Monsters series which includes a prequel and 3 full-length books.
Cruel Shadows: Stella used to experience vivid life-like dreams as a child where she was thrust into a different realm and had an imaginary best friend named Airic. As a young adult, she believes those dreams were just an overactive imagination until one night she finds herself back in the realm. The place is just as she remembered except Airic is now a cruel Prince. Gone is the young sweet boy that she once loved so much. Airic claims her as his own and whisks her away to imprison her in his palace. Stella is treated well but isolated in a bedroom and must cling to the small moments in time where she interacts with other people to keep her sanity.
Prince Airic was very unlikable. He felt more like the villain than Stella’s savior. He admits several times that he is being awful toward the girl he has always loved and never has a good reason why he can’t be kinder. Even after intimacy, he treated her like an object that didn’t have any feelings. The two other men that find themselves bonded to Stella are Wels and Reis — but they aren’t much better. Wels is also an alpha-hole and Reis is more loyal to his prince. Stella is a likable heroine, but I was certainly disappointed that she was aware the men were treating her like a toy but kept falling into bed with them. I kept thinking she would finally refuse physical intimacy but she never did. The steamy scenes were very well written.
The ending was interested and a great cliffhanger. I’m looking forward to the sequel and hope Stella finds more inner strength and guts to stand up for herself! I think Stella is more important than anyone quite realizes. If only Airic had explained everything…
Necessary Evil: Stella is thrust back into the human realm and must find her way back to the Shadow World after being committed to an asylum against her will. She knows her memories are real and not delusions, but her aunt and doctor will never believe her stories. With Malachi on the throne, Stella is anxious to return to Prince Airic, Wels, and Reis. She knows they are stronger together and she dives head first into the fire storm.
The heat in this book really ramped up with more explicit content than in the first. Whew. So many smutty scenes that will make you giddy! *Fans Self* I loved that Stella developed stronger connections with each of her men independently, but they also grew together as a group. Airic is probably my least favorite in the harem. Wels is my absolute favorite.
Together Stella, Airic, Reis, and Wels must navigate who is an enemy or ally, betrayals, lies, twists, and turns. I knew Stella was more important than anyone realized and will be the key to taking back the kingdom and keeping everyone safe. Can’t wait for book 3! So glad it is expected to be released in April!
Wicked Reign: Stella, Airic, Reis, and Wels get their satisfying conclusion in this exciting fast-paced final installment in the series. Airic and Wels must put aside their wounded egos and unite to help Stella control her magic, locate a kidnapped Reis, and defeat the enemy. This trilogy packs a punch and will take readers on a thrilling emotional journey.
Stella has truly grown and transformed into a powerful heroine. I love that she went from meek and unsure of herself at the beginning of the series and grew into a confident heroine that is stronger than anyone could imagine. While the men in Stella’s life help her navigate uncovering the truth, she must heavily rely on herself to fight against the enemy.
The heat in this book was phenomenal. Fast burn, exciting, and very smutty. Definitely a great trilogy and I am honestly sad that this foursome’s story is over, but hopeful for other stories in this shared universe!
Shadow Prince: This is a fabulous prequel to the Kingdom of Monster’s trilogy! Readers get to experience Stella and Airic meeting for the first time as young children, developing a relationship overtime with frequent visits, and the heartbreak both experience when they can no longer see each other again. Definitely recommend reading this before (or even after) the trilogy!
I really was sure how much I would like this book because Airic was my least favorite out of the guys, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It told the story his point of view from the moment when they met as kids until he ultimately had to send her away. I wish it would have been longer and reading it at the beginning of series will help many readers like and relate to Airic more.
BOOK #1: Cruel Shadows
Stella is coming to terms with the fact that her "dream world" is in fact real and her childhood best friend is now a cold man that is everything, but friendly. Stuck in a not-so-new strange world has her feeling very alone not know who to turn to or trust. It was difficult for me to connect with the guys, maybe Reis but it was hard to figure out Wels and the other guy that's supposed to be her main love interest was so all over the place that you almost wished he wasn't in the picture lol. I did enjoy the world building. The ending left me wanting more so looking forward to the next book in the series.
BOOK #2: Necessary Evil
Stella is thrown back into her world with no clue how to get back to the Dark Castle. The situation she's in goes from bad to worse and she's honestly fallen apart and given up when a chance meeting gives her hope that she may be able to make it back. Stella is not at her best most of this book so expect her to be fumbling along and rolling with the punches. The suspense was good in this book. It's hard not to know who to trust when the enemy has your back is against the wall and there's no backup in sight. Especially when Stella's determined to trust just about everyone & randomly takes off on her own to find trouble. I'm even side-eyeing her aunt at this point. As for spice this book is chef's kiss because they were sprinkling it around like franks redhot - muy caliente. As for romance you have it all - the sweetheart (and my fav) Reis, the bad boy potty mouth Wels, and the give you a whiplash with his hot/cold combo straight up alphahole Airic. A little something for everyone. It felt like a lot more happened in this book & the ending a little like a cliffy but in a good way.
BOOK #3: Wicked Reign
I would have liked to see a lot more happen in this book since a lot did not happen in the last book. Things didn't really start moving until Stella finally left that cave maybe halfway through the book, but when it did get flowing it gets interesting fast because there is a good amount of action and suspense. I thought she had pink hair and pink eyes, but then it became blue at the end before the big faceoff. I'm doing a lot of reading so it could be me mixing up books.
I loved Reis since book 1 so I would have liked to see more of his point of view, because even through he was captured he probably had more going on than the lust-a-thon & he kind of faded into the background. I liked the growth I saw in both Wels and Airic through the series. Airic was a bit much for much of the series, but came around early enough that I wasn't still giving him the side eye at the end of the book. As for Stella I would have liked for her to be stronger in her own rite without having to rely on the intimacy of her men and basically being a battery for them to power up on for most of the series. I would have liked to see a lot more growth in her instead of right at the end because she literally falls apart or does the exact opposite of what she should do almost every single time it is time for her to do anything on her own & it got frustrating after a while.
I thoroughly enjoyed the end of the book and how the prophesy was revealed because it was definitely was not what I was expecting. It was kind of bittersweet because there was some sadness there, but also a lot of happiness.
Vile Creatures is a 3 book omnibus of Harper A Brooks Kingdom of Monsters series, containing Cruel Shadows, Necessary Evil and Wicked Reign
Cruel Shadows: I was really intrigued by the premise of this story, a woman, disappearing into what she remembered as a dream or a childhood playscape only to find the boy she played with has grown up and no longer wants her there. There were a lot of interesting elements to the story - where was she? What happened to the boy she played with? Why doesn’t he want her there? just the idea of the dream realm was really different. However, I felt like there was so much more could have been done with the story. Everything ended with Stella hooking up with a monster. Every fight, every discussion, every difficult trial the boys put her through was forgiven right away: there were so many elements that could have been taken farther - like Stella losing her mind with no one to talk to - that were left hanging. It felt like a continuous circle until the last 15% of the book where the plot picked up substantially. I wanted more of that adventure, more of facing down the bad guys etc.
Necessary Evil: Necessary Evil starts up right where book 1 left off, with Stella is back in the human world and Malachi has taken over the Shadow world. Unable to cope Stella’s aunt has her committed to an asylum. Barely able to escape, she returns to the Shadow realm only to find it completely devastated and her men in hiding. Stella discovers she has sex magic which suddenly becomes of utmost importance to saving all the realms.
This book had a lot of really great things about it. The world creation was amazing. The plot was intriguing - saving the worlds and unseating the usurper, and the steamy scenes had a lot of spice. But, there were some things that detracted from my overall enjoyment of the story. I didn’t really connect with the characters - after the first book I kept hoping for Stella’s character to improve and her relationship with the guys to expand from just Insta lust, but I still found something missing there. Add in that a number of the plot devices felt contrived - sex magic that gives Stella incredible powers? - and the book just didn’t quite reach its full potential for me.
Wicked Reign: Wicked Reign is the finale of the Kingdom of Monsters series and it picks up right where book 2 left off with Reis in the hands of Malachi.
Stella has to find the strength in herself and her work out how to use her magic. In addition to all of them coming to terms with their dynamic. Everything did wrap up nicely by the end.
This book dragged a little bit for me. There were some plot holes, some confusion, and too much sex (I didn’t think that I could ever say that). I enjoyed delving more into Stella's magic but it wasn't really explained well and at times I felt like the author threw smut at plot/character issues they werent sure how to resolve. I did enjoy the deeper dive into the villain’s character and his motivations.
With a lot of steam, and a bit of humour it was definitely an ending that had everything thrown into it and it made for an interesting read.
You're going to love being able to binge read this story! Plus the prequel novella, and you won't want to put this down until your done!
Shadow Prince - The Prequel I loved this prequel! It was such a great read, I love having the backstory to characters, sometimes it's necessary because we have no idea why a character is the way they are. With this prequel, we were able to see how Stella and Airic met, and how their interaction was.
We can see that they're totally taken with each other but, trying to bring their lives together isn't an easy one. I loved seeing that we got to see how their relationship started and how much they went through. Airic is the leader of the Shadow Realm and Stella appears to be a human, but Airic senses magic in her. Stella feels a pull towards him and they do try and make it work.
If you haven't dived into this world, definitely start with this prequel, it was great to read!
Book 1 Cruel Shadows
I absolutely loved this story! I liked how different each of the guys were, which it made it even harder to try and choose which guy is your favorite. Stella the FMC is great, I like her fighting spirit that even when she's knocked down she continues to push back. The story is a bit slow moving at first but it's a new world, so I appreciate the time Harper took to flesh out the characters. We also have some action and plenty of steam, towards the end of the book.
Book 2 Necessary Evil
We jump right from book 1 into book 2. Stella is ready and desperate to get back to her men, but it's not working. She is being pumped full of drugs, stuck in an institution, and feeling like she is slowly losing her mind. Her monsters aren't fearing any better without her, especially with those loyal to the Shadow Prince on the run. The Shadow World has turned for the worst, and they're trying to find a way to strike back. As well as finding out more about Stella's powers, and the connection between them all. Even with her monsters back at her side willing to protect her with everything they are, there are still plenty of evil people who want to use her. Capture her, using her for their own gain, I'm looking at Malachi for all his evil plans. We got to see them all come together, with some fun ;) times, and getting closer.
Book 3 Wicked Reign
Oh man what a final book this is! We have reached almost the end of the Kingdom of Monsters trilogy, and it doesn’t slow down for anything.
Stella needs to harness her powers and use them to save Reis before Malachi puts his deadly plans in play. Stella has grown into an amazingly bad-ss FMC and her men are just as amazing. Reis, Airic, and Wels love and adore Stella with everything they are and it shows. There was a great balance of plot and schmexy things going on, it was the perfect ending for these characters and their story.
I loved this trilogy and already miss them and can’t wait to dive back in when I need a fix.
This boxset is incredible! All four stories in the Kingdom of Monsters series including the prequel novella, and the best part, you can just binge read the entire thing! And trust me, you will want to...
Shadow Prince: A Monster Romance Prequel
I adore the story of how Prince Airic first met Stella in this Monster Romance prequel! A quick read, it really was eye opening to see these characters from the very beginning. It gives such a deeper and rich understanding of them that opens up a whole new perspective for the rest of the series too! This truly is a wonderful addition to this series and the characters' initial growth of what set everything into motion!
Cruel Shadows
This darker read truly brought readers into the Kingdom of Monsters! Cruel Shadows introduces us to MFC Stella, a seemingly normal girl with a wild imagination and life-like dreams. When she is older, she realizes the dreams are more real than she could have possibly imagined. One of the monsters in her dream, Prince Airic, whisks her away to keep her as his own. Now imprisoned by him for her "protection," we get to see more of this world as well as some other characters who become important to Stella. P.S. If you get a chance, take a look at the individual covers for each book. They are STUNNING!
Necessary Evil
An incredible emotional rollercoaster read, Necessary Evil was a dark and wonderful addition to the Kingdom of Monsters series! Stella had her first adventure in the Shadow World in book 1, but now that she is back in the human world, she is desperate to get back to her men, Prince Airic, Knight Reis, and shapeshifter Wels. This is not an easy task considering her life in the human world put her in a sticky situation being committed to a sanitarium and all. It will take all her resolve to get herself back to the Shadow World, but if that happens, will she be left with even more surprises? I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next, and guess what, the best part about a boxset is you don't have to!
Wicked Reign
Wicked Reign is the conclusion to the Kingdom of Monsters trilogy, and boy, did it deliver! Stella and her monsters have been put through so much throughout this series and this book was no exception, but we really see Stella come into her own in this one. Her growth has been exceptional! Not to mention, seeing her men helping and supporting her. I loved that we still got some great steamy scenes between them all, and a great ending befitting this series! All in all, an addicting series! I look forward to more adventures by this author!
Cruel Shaddows - Book 1 This book had a very original storyline that I immediately was drawn into. Stella is a normal girl, struggling to make her way through life in less-than-ideal circumstances. One night, after a truly disastrous day, she finds herself transported into a world of shadows she thought was only a figment of her childhood imagination. The boy that was once her friend is now a dark, dangerous man who excites and terrifies her. Add in a stoic, yet stunning knight and a roguish shapeshifter who wants to get her into all kinds of dirty trouble and Stella is in for a world of pleasure and pain. This book left me with a lot of questions but very few answers. The relationship between Stella and her guys is off the charts hot and I can't wait for more of it in Book 2, along with some answers to the aforementioned questions. This book is full of action, intrigue and dirty, sexy fun. Word of warning, it does leave off on a painfully inopportune cliffhanger so prepare yourself. That being said I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for Book 2 to find out what happens next for Stella and her guys.
Necessary Evil - Book 2 Dirty, sexy, monstrous fun. This book picks up right from where the last left off. Stella is desperate to get back to her men, but nothing works. She feels like she is losing her mind, and she's not the only one. When she does finally make to back to the Shadow World, she finds that the world she left has drastically changed for the worse. Malachi has made aggressive moves and those loyal to the Shadow Prince are on the run and driven into hiding. Reunited, Stella and her monsters need to find a way to strike back, while also finding out more about Stella's powers and the connection they form between them all. The spice is off the charts in this book. There is a lot of angst and action. Potential trigger warning, this book does also include monster play (you know what I mean) as well as forced interactions and rape references. The book does end in a cliffhanger. I look forward to finding out what happens next.
Wicked Reign - Book 3 This is the final book in the series and the final show down with Malachi is on the horizon. There is a lot of action and even more steaminess in this final installment. The MCs really come together as a unit in this book. All your questions will be answered and a happily ever after is definitely deserved.
Harper Brooks has combined her Monsters series into one box set. I really enjoyed this series, it has a dark gothic vibe, set in another realm with handsome monsters who could be just as dark and shrouded in mystery.
Stella is the mfc and I can't begin to really describe her. She is a mixed bag strong but emotional, fiery but weak, inquisitive yet accepting, and probably a few other things I haven't mentioned. Stella changes from moment to moment and you never really know how she's gonna react. She gets more integrated into her new world with every book.
In this monster romance, the monsters have a gorgeous human side with either an entire monstrous look or just some aspects. Airic, Reis, and Wels are three of those monsters and are the romantic interests in this series. Airic being Prince Airic is a childhood friend of Stella but has changed, he comes off as a jerk to Stella (and others) but from his chapters, I can tell he's putting up a mask for others and I kinda feel bad that he has to but his stubbornness is gonna ruin things if he doesn't get his stuff together. Reis is a loyal knight and bf to Airic, he's a fierce warrior but is like a sexy but adorable puppy for Stella. Wels is the bad boy charmer, the type that is only nice to his girl but he has a sadness to him and I can't help but fall for it.
The guys start off a little rough (we'll not Resis he's pretty much a softie from go) but Wels and Airic needed a lot of attitude adjustment. Eventually not only do they figure out their own crap and come together as a collective group but each fall for Stella and make her the center of their world.
Kingdom Of Monsters was a good read. I enjoyed the dark fantasy vibes it gave off with nice descriptive settings. There was a bad guy, new types of magic, mysterious shadows, and a few interesting side characters. By the end of the series, Stella found that she had more power than she realized, which is good in a realm full of monsters. The ending was fairly dramatic but everything was wrapped up, Stella along with her sullen prince, cocky shifter, and noble knight get their HEA, and it's been a long time coming.
A great series that I loved very much. Amazing characters and you will love Stella.
Three books plus a prequel. Here is my review for each book. Please note I read the prequel after having read the three books, but you should read in order as it really sets the scene.
Shadow Prince I love this prequel to the series. It makes me want to go back and read the series all over. It tells the story of how the prince and a human girl first met. It gives you just a taste to how amazing the series is. Filled with magic and a prophecy.
Cruel Shadows The first book of the series and I can’t wait for more. A great beginning that leaves us with so many questions and the need for answers. Stella is the main character and somehow the imaginary world she would escape to as a child may not be imaginary. She will search for answers but all the men around her seem to think keeping her in the dark is safer. But is it? Especially when she isn’t about to take no for an answer. The chemistry gets pretty damn hot as this is a reverse harem where she isn’t forced to choose.
Necessary Evil Second book and starts right off where book one stopped. Which realm is real or are they both or is she going mad? The one thing for sure is that she wants to go back and be with her monsters. The males in this story are definitely not like any human male. And WOW does magic have a whole new meaning. Between the danger and the insanely hot times I’m not sure when Stella has a chance to breath but I don’t blame her from wanting more. An amazing and insane story that you will want more of.
Wicked Reign The final book of the series. So much is happening in this book. I will admit that at times I got a little confused but the story does a lot to explain them. The plot is deeper than just two realms trying to be saved. The main character of Stella has grown so much from the scared human in the first book. She won’t stop at anything to protect her men and to save the realms. The magic takes on some extreme hotness that is beyond scorching.
Loved getting to see how Stella and Airic met along with their connection. And also why Airic pushed Stella away. It was amazing to learn more about these characters and see what they were like before the series. It can be read before it after reading the main series. I had so much fun learning more about what led them to where they were in the series!
Book 1
Stella is a waitress in a little hole in the wall restaurant and her life has been same old same old with her being lonely. She wants more and she gets it in a weird way. She ends up in a strange world it seems and she’s used as a payment. Nothing is as she thinks and things don’t get explained to her. She has a lot to deal with and there are three sexy monsters who are her love interests. I enjoyed the emotional connections and some sexy times. Though I thought there would be more character growth with everything she had been through in this story. But that might happen in the next book and I am excited to see what’ll come next. This does end in a pretty major cliffhanger that makes me need the next one.
Book 2
Very pleased this one picks up where the previous one ended. Stella has grown so much and has gotten so strong. She’s an amazing character and I love her bonds with her men. There’s a lot of serious heat in this one and a lot of intense action. It hit the ground running and didn’t let up till the end of the story. I want so much more of these stories and a lot more of these characters. I didn’t want to stop reading the story and couldn’t put it down.
Book 3
The ending to this series I’ve loved is definitely worth it. I couldn’t get enough of this series and Stella has grown so much. She had a lot to deal with and learned pretty quickly. Though she definitely had trials by fire and her and her men had so much to accomplish. The story started with a bang and kept going. I loved it so much and was very pleased with how the entire series came to an end. Though I am sad to say goodbye to these awesome characters.
Shadow Prince: This was an intriguing introduction to the series which gave a great perspective into what was going on behind the scenes in the shadow lands. I love the instant connection between Stella and Airic and how he wants to keep her safe and will do anything he can to do so. A great read. Cruel Shadows: Oh the shadows and those beasts! It's like a Beauty and the Beast story, only there are several men who are after Stella's love. Then there are the shadows that roam around the castle, but don't look too closely or they'll disappear! As Stella grows more and more involved with Airic, Reis and Wels she finds out more and more about the world that she has landed in, and it's not all roses and there are dark forces at work. I love how Stella thought her Dark Castle was imaginary only to find out that wasn't so. She has some very hot and spicy relationships with all her men, and there are lots of other things happening as well to keep your attention. It all ended too soon with a cliff hanger, and I'm looking forward to the next book. Necessary Evil: This story sucked me right back in where the previous one left off. Although some time has passed since Stella was sent back to her world, she hasn't stopped craving her monsters. When they find their way back together, they go from one enemy to the next. The story is spicy and hot, and they create magic with their encounters. I loved how they all manage to meet in the middle even though they are all so different. Another great read, again ending on a cliff-hanger! Can't wait for the next book. Wicked Reign: There is plenty of spice as Stella, Airic and Wels continue to try to rescue Reis and defeat the evil Malachi. They must overcome plenty of challenges on the way, as Stella attempts to learn how to wield her magic. A great conclusion to the series.
Shadow Prince This is a great short read showing inside Airic and Stella's heads as they meet for the first time as children, grow close, get older and then are torn apart. Loved getting to know the shadow prince a little more! Cruel Shadows When I say I loved this book, I still feel like that is an understatement! This book gave me all the naughty, childhood fairytale fantasy, monster, RH vibes blended into a riveting story filled with drama, danger and hot and dirty steamy times! Starla starts out as a bit of a walking disaster and although she eventually embraces what's happening to her, she fights everything tooth and nail. Brooding alphaholes, protective bodyguards and mischievous trouble makers your jam? Don't worry, this book has you covered! Necessary Evil When a second book grips you like this one did me, you know it must be good. Stella is a human and in a world of monsters, she should be powerless but instead she seems to be the key. With her shadow prince, his naughty cousin and his faithful Knight, they have found a somewhat functional foursome. If you enjoy high steam books (and I sure do!) Then this series will tick all your boxes. Stella's magic seems to be s*x magic and amplifies her guys powers. With a big bad threatening everything and betrayal coming from every corner, this book will keep you busy until the last page! Wicked Reign Things get pretty crazy in this sizzling finale. When paranormal and monstrous collide, you get this wonderful book and series. Stella is a wonderful mixture of bewildered and powerful, which makes her endearing. Seeing her come into her power and confidence is magical and I really enjoyed that about the book. The men also grow and change during this book and it makes the very final scenes extra special
Vile creatures is a boxset of Kingdom of Monsters series, including the prequel— Shadow Prince , Cruel Shadows, Necessary Evil, and Wicked Reign.
Shadow Prince -0.5 is the prequel to The Kingdom of Monsters series. It gave us an insight and a much needed background to Stella & Prince Airic. What happened in their lives and how they both met each other
Cruel Shadows - book 1 Stella (FMC) has had unexplained dreams of a Kingdom and a childhood friend - Prince Airic which everyone I her reality claim that its something made up in her imagination. Only for years later and now an adult she's back in the same world but her childhood friend is completely different.
Necessary Evil - book 2 in the Kingdom of Monsters series and after how book 1 ended Stella (FMC) is back in her world (the human one) but things escalate there and she ends up being institutionalised. Not knowing what is reality and what isn't she has a chance meeting with someone there that leads her back to the monsters - Airic, Welsh and Reis. Only things are not the same back there in the monster world with Malachi still causing trouble for everyone. The steam level was off if the charts hot with all of the sex magic bubbling between them all.
Wicked Reign - book 3 and the finale of the Kingdom of Monsters series and it picks up right where book 2 ended with Reis in the hands of Malachi. Stella (FMC) has to find the strength in herself and her work out how to use her magic. As well as all of them coming to terms with their dynamic with each other. With a lot of steam, a bit of humour and giving into their feelings. It was definitely an ending that had everything thrown into it and it made for a great read. I loved this series.
This is the boxed set to this amazing series including the prequel. I loved the characters and the world building. This series will have you hooked. I read and reviewed each book individually.
Shadow Prince
Great Prequel
This is the Prequel to the Kingdom of Monsters series. Its the perfect peek into the series. We get to see how Stella and Airic meet and how their connection begins. We get see what happens to make him push her away. Great to read before or after the series
Cruel Shadows
Fantastic
What an amazing start to a new series. I was completely drawn in right from the start and didn't want to stop reading. I loved the world building and all the characters were fantastic. I love Stella the fmc. She is confused at times because nothing is explained to her but I could see her strength I love the chemistry she has with her sexy men/monsters making for some spicy hot scenes.
Necessary Evil
Wonderful
This is book two in the Kingdom of Monsters series and I enjoyed it as much as the first. Once again I wad hooked right from the start and didn't want to stop reading. I love Stella and how she gets to show how strong she is in this book. I love the relationship between her and her men/monsters and their chemistry leading to some very steamy scenes. The continued world building is fantastic as well as new characters
Wicked Reign
Amazing Conclusion
This the the third book in the Kingdom of Monsters series and once again in was completely drawn in. This was such a great conclusion to the story. I lived the world building and the characters. Stella and her men steam up the pages and I love the growth they all show. I look forward to reading more from Harper A BrooksI’m
This is the prequel of how Stella met Airic in the Shadow World. They were both lonely and grieving kids that found solace in each other. As time progresses we see why Airic sent Stella back to her world. It’s nice information to read before getting into the series.
Cruel Shadows
This is the first book in the Kingdom of Monsters series. The story was a little slow starting but did get better. Stella is an interesting FMC. She wants to be strong, but she doesn’t quite know what she wants. As this is the first book, the characters are still being fleshed out. The story was full of steam while being action packed towards the end. The story ended in kind of a cliffhanger and I’m curious to what will happen in the next book.
Necessary Evil
This is book two of the Kingdom of Monsters series and I could not put it down. This book starts up where the first book left off. Stella is definitely on a roller coaster ride of emotion. There was so much going on in this book and there were multiple plot twists that left me staring at my kindle in shock. There is danger, angst, action and a whole boatload of steam. I have to say that out of all Stella’s men, Reis is hands down my favorite. I need the next book stat to find out what happens. This book and series is highly recommended.
Wicked Reign
This is the third and final book of the Kingdom of Monsters series. Stella and her men have come full circle in this battle. I enjoyed how all of these characters grew throughout the series. I was worried for one in particular, but I’m glad he finally saw the bigger picture. The story was full of action, steam and plot twists. This was a great conclusion to the series.
PREQUEL: Very quick read. Beautiful budding friendship between two broken children who are brought together by fate, across realms. Stella and Airic’s prequel is so touching and sweet, while showing us the darkness to come, it sets the stage for the series perfectly.
BOOK 1: Stella finds herself drifting off to a delicious fantasy world of her childhood only to find out that this world is real! Her childhood imaginary friend has grown into a stubborn hot man that in now the Prince of this world. Being locked away for her own safety, Stella befriends a few others from the court and finds herself being pursued by dark forces. Major cliff hanger at the end, can't wait for the next book!!
BOOK 2: Stella starts this book in her home realm, battling depression and being locked up in an asylum. Much to her dismay, she befriends another woman who may be from the Shadow Realm. Hoping to see her pop up again in book 3. Stella searches her past to find a way back to her men, only to discover much has changed in the Shadow Realm. Great story, lots of “sex magic”, and Stella seems to not get the fact that she is in danger in a foreign world, always wandering off like a toddler.
BOOK 3: At the end of Stella’s story, Reis is captured, Wels and Airic are trying to regain the castle, and Stella is trying to figure out her magic. The gang travels to the human realm for a quick respite and training session, only to head back to the Shadow Realm with a few tricks up their sleeves. Epic final showdown. Lots of twists and turns on the journey. Great read!
Cruel shadows Talk about some steam. Stella and her men are off the charts. Stella only good part of her childhood was a shadow world she thought she made up. After quiting her worthless job she gets sent right back to the shadow world. She find her childhood friend has grown up into a cruel prince. Airic has some equally hot friends that Stella gets to know during her time locked up in the castle. It's a slow going book in the beginning but as it gose along it quickly picks up pace. It is a really good read. I can't wait to see where the next book takes Stella.
Necessary Evil What a great second book in the series. It starts right back with Stella thrown back in her normal life. She is having a hard time dealing with the loss of her men. Her aunt thinking she is crazy sends her to get help. Stella is locked away and forced to take meds to help her get better. Without her men and everyone saying they don't exist Stella is even starting to doubt herself. This book has high heat and steam!!! It end on a cliffhanger too. I can not wait for the next book.
Wicked Reign This book made me think lol. Stella journey is definitely a mind trip. There are times I feel like theoughtout the series that this is all in her head. It's been interesting to see how she has developed as a character. The ending really messed with me. I was so confused at first until they started explaining how things worked. I loved the steam between Stella and her monsters. I highly recommend it this book.
Book 1 - This book has me Fanning my face with all the steam and the guys are just yum. I've read a few of Harper's books and I absolutely love her writing and her imagination. This book had the monsters that you'll love, the steam, a castle and a realm that just intrigued me with it's unique design. This book gave me gothic type feels, especially with the castle and the world. It's a fantastic read, and a monster lover with definitely enjoy this read. Wow! Bring on more!
Book 2 - This is the second book in this monster story and it takes off right where book one ended. It's got a fast pace and the story holds throughout. The characters growth is a bit slower and not as in depth as I wished it would but I still enjoyed the book. Stella is one of those FMC that has a hard journey throughout this series and I loved the action and drama. Looking forward to what book 3 will bring. Very enjoyable read and great addition to the series.
Book 3 - This is the third and last book in this series and starts right where book 2 ended. I really enjoyed the plot. There's lots of action and lots going on as we move towards the conclusion. I felt that this book had alot of spice which kind of took the focus off the plot. I like spice in books but I found this book had quite a bit and I really wanted more plot driven story, especially the ending. Overall, I really liked this book and the whole world was such a joy to read. We get all the answers and all the wishes that I had hoped for in this finale. I was satisfied. Wonderful series and wonderful book!
This prequel really helped validate Airic's feelings and actions towards Stella for me.I found the way he spoke of Wels in this book interesting in comparison to the trilogy. My favorite bit was Master Ysaig's part.
I think I also felt like Stella for the first third of book 1 - confused on what was real! There was a lot of mystery in the Dark Castle and we find ourselves wondering what's the big deal? Stella's imaginary dream world was real - as was her prince. So why keep her hidden away? Why avoid her? As we go, we realize that she is not who she thinks she is, and the men in her life are striving to keep her safe, much to her chagrin. The tension in this book is REAL, and the chemistry between our men and Stella is through the roof!
Wow - I really loved the way the story turned in book 2! The beginning of the book was so interesting and I hope we can potentially see more of those characters again. I love how the group begins to accept Stella as a part of their world and how she is starting to get tougher and stand her ground more. I am so curious about who Stella is going to end up being between all of the different expectations set around her.
Our group of heroes seems fractured, beat up, and in way over their heads, but we get the cosmic karma for all characters that we could ever hope for in book 3. Keeping up with all the plot theories in the form of questions gets a bit frustrating and confusing, so if you're a quick reader like me, SLOW DOWN!
This is an amazing boxset for this incredible series.
Shadow Prince This open us up to the world of the shadows. Stella befriends the shadow prince. But he will be forced to send her away after finding out about the danger she is in be in his realm. It will change everything. And I can't wait to see where this series is going to carry us.
Cruel’s Shadow Stella has imaginary friend that comes to her during her dreams. Airic is the prince in the Shadow. Now that they are adult, Stella start dreaming of him and his men. They will carry you on unusually journey as Stella falls deep in their Shadow world. This is amazing start to the new series.
Necessary Evil Stella is back in the human realm, and no one blames her about her monsters. So she winds up in a institution against her will and despite everything she is told, she still fights to returns to her guys. But when she makes it back everything has change and now she must save them. I can’t wait to see what happens to them next.
Wicked Reign In this final book of the series, we will see Stella trying to save Reis from Malachi. While doing that she will get all her questions answered. Plus she will have to save both world. But nothing prepared her for the final battle with Malachi. We will get to see her and her guys journey through all of their pov. This has been an incredible series with an amazing ending.
Cruel Shadows: Completely unputdownable, filled to the brim with adventure, an alternate world filled with shadow monsters, a mysterious castle, 3 hunks vying for Stella's love and attention (minus some alpha a-hole tendencies) and a child hood fantasy come to life. Prepare to binge, because you will not be able to put it down. Necessary Evil: Woooo, this book is a fire hazard! I guess when you have sex magic, the steamy bits HAVE to be off the charts, right? Stella dives right back into her adventures with Airic, Wels and Reis after a slight hiatus in a mental institution. The smutty parts are, as mentioned, panty-melting, and it's non stop action throughout the book. The cliffy makes me long for the third book - I really NEED to find out what happens next! Awesomely hot read! Wicked Reign: Action packed, monster filled and sooooo much smut. This book brings the trilogy to close and I'll miss Stella and her monster men. Malachai is the perfect villain and will have you trying to reach through the pages to wring his neck. I also love how they've all grown throughout the books. Especially Airic and his acceptance of the bond between Stella and Wels and Reis. With her sex magick there HAS to be a ton of steam, but there are also so many twists and turns that this is the perfect end to the series and you won't be disappointed. Enjoy!
Overall: I loved these books and the storyline. Below is what I thought of each book. Best part is you won't forget book 2 (like I did) since you can read them all together!
Book 1 Holy wild ride. Stella seemed to be dealt an awful hand at life. Her only outlet was her imagination as a child, or so she thought and was told by everyone around her. I hope book 2 talks about Stella's past a little more. I also hope her strength comes through more. I really like Wels. Reis was my favorite until he wouldn't tell her things. Airic is another one I hope opens up more and legs his feelings out for Stella.
Book 2 First off, I'm so thankful that cliffhanger wasn't extreme, especially since this whole book had me on edge. Poor Stella has gone through the ringer. I cannot wait to learn more about her and her powers. I love how we get to see her grow. Reis is my absolute favorite. Though all 3 of the guys mesh perfectly with Stella. Impatiently waiting for book 3!!
Book 3 Not going to lie I had a hard time remembering what happened in book 2. I completely remembered book 1 though, which made me laugh. Goodness once I caught up in my brain this book was awesome. I'm so glad Stella and her guys get a HEA. I am sad it is over though!
Loved this boxset! I really enjoyed this whole series and highly recommend to everyone.
Shadow Prince - prequel
What a fantastic prequel to the Kingdom of Monster’s trilogy! I loved getting to watch Stella and Airic meeting for the first time, how they were immediately drawn to one another, and how their relationship develops from there. I loved reading this and definitely recommend.
Cruel Shadows
In this installment we follow Stella as she discovers the imaginary dream world of her childhood is actually real and the monsters she meets along the way. I really enjoyed this book and I’m really excited for book #2.
Necessary Evil
This is book #2 in this series and it was a fantastic addition. So much happening in this one. Stella’s aunt has her committed and Stella battles with reality. Then she meets someone who helps her go back to the Shadow World and it’s one wild ride. A riveting read from beginning to end.
Wicked Reign
The final book and a fantastic ending to this series! So much happening in this one and there’s never a dull moment, full of action, twists, drama, and romance it makes for one great ending. Highly recommend.
Shadow Prince This was the intro between Stella and her Prince. It's a great intro to the characters and sets up the world before you dive into the main books for the story.
Cruel monsters What an interesting read about Stella, her prince, knight, and shapeshifter. Stella is flawed and gets frustrated by feeling like she is cast aside while there is a more sinister plot at play. Her 3 guys are trying to protect her and there are lots of secrets we still need revealed. I enjoyed this start to the series
Necessary Evil We are back in the Kingdom of monsters, and Stella fights to get back to her guys. This book has us dive in where the last on left off, and it was interesting to see how much the characters grow in this book. This book is a great mix of monster shifters and steam that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Wicked reign This was the final installment in Stella's story. In this book she continies to grow closer to her guys as they try to defeat Malachi. Stella learns how to use her magic with her lovers, and we get to see the loose ends tied up into a beautiful bow at the end. Definitely a must read series for monster lovers.
Vile Creatures: Kingdom of Monsters Complete Collection by Harper A. Brooks is the ultimate of collections and a must read series that will pull you right in and keep you entranced till the very end! Especially if you love an amazing paranormal fantasy based world with hot and steamy aloha monsters and tons of smut! ;)
This is a captivating new world about our amazing heroine Stella who soon discovers that the magical fantasy world she immersed herself in as a child, was not so imaginary after all, and that the intriguingly unique friend she made, and his equally intriguing monstrous friends, were just as real after all….and will soon change everything she once thought to be real. And let’s just say when it does, the heat between Stella, Airic, Wels and Reis is everything!!!
Overall if you’re a fan of paranormal boxset collections featuring non stop action, twists and turns galore, amazing characters, an intriguing plot and tons of hot and steamy scenes and relationship building then this is the one for you!
Fantastic series!! Absolutely loved!!! Cruel Shadows Book 1-Ok so I’m really hooked on this series already. I started and was hooked right away. Loved Stella and the guys. Storyline right off was fantastic. Oh the steam is off the charts. I do have questions so I’m so hoping the next book answers them. Overall this was a fantastic story. Definitely recommend. Can’t wait for next book!!!
Necessary Evil Book 2 in the Kingdom of Monsters series and it was so so good!! Picks up right where book 1 leaves us off. Story sucked me right back in. Love reading about Stella. Fantastic storyline again. Plus the steam. Oh it’s just amazing. Can’t wait for book 3. Definitely recommend reading!!
Wicked Reign-So good!! This is book 3 and the last book in the Kingdom of Monsters series. Tons of action and of course my steam which I so need in a story. So loved Stella and her men. But wow finally got a couple questions I had answered. This story line was fantastic. So going to miss the characters in this series. I absolutely loved them. Definitely recommend.
The Kingdom of Monster Series is one that will grab you from the first chapter and never let you go! Stella's story was one of a kind! Definitely a must read series!
Cruel Shadows (Book #1): Cruel Shadows was a mixture of so many amazing things... Twists, turns, loads of chemistry, and wayyy more questions than answers! This was a great start to a new series, and I can not wait for more 💙
Necessary Evil (Book #2): What a great continuation to this one of a kind book world! Stella is definitely not in a good place at the start of this read-- but everything that happens.. all the twists, all the steam, and so much more! Ya'll, I can't wait for Book Three!
Wicked Reign (Book #3): What a finale! Wicked Reign picks up right where book two left off-- and literally everything is a mess! Stella has to find strength in herself and her magic to help overcome the odds. Loads of steamy goodness, questions are answered and ALL the emotion! SO GOOD!
What an epic ride!!! Harper A. Brooks combined the books in this series and I love it! This story was action packed! It's got such a deep plot, nothing is simple. There are so many twists, you really start to feel for our main characters. Stella has no idea what she's doing, but she's determined to not be beat. She refuses to give up and is adamant about saving her men and both of their worlds. Malachi was such a twisted villain! You're rooting for Stella, Airic, Wels and Reis to figure it out because there's no way they can let him win. Harper A Brooks did an amazing job creating this complex world and all it's inhabitants. The character development was great! To see Airic change from book 1, when I really didn't care for him, to book 3, when I loved him, was just WOW! And yes, there's still plenty of spicy scenes! The spice level was off the charts!! I hope we get more from this world!
Shadow Prince I loved this prequel. We get to see how Prince Airic first met Stella and I really enjoyed reading that. Because I was curious during the series about their meeting. Cruel Shadows After thinking that her childhood friend and the Shadow Realm and Dark Castle was just a figure of her Imagination Stella finds out that it is as real as her when her friend Airic who just happens to be a Prince shows up with his friends Reis, and Wels. They have to protect her from the Shadows who wants her powers to bend the door between the realms. I really love Stella and her men and I can't wait for book 2 Necessary Evil I have been wanting this book since I finished book one with that cliffhanger Im really enjoying Stella's Prince Airic, Knight Reis, and shapeshifter Wels' story. Wicked Reign Stella, Airic, Wels and Reis are just phenomenal. i really loved this conclusion to the Kingdom of Monsters series.
Vile Creatures is the complete collection of the Kingdom of Monsters series. Stella's story from beginning to end, yes, prequel included. As she deals with the drama of who and what she truly is. She's thought that something was wrong with her all her life, but the truth is something different. She's actually special, and belongs in a different world. When she meets her monsters, she thinks that she's dreaming or going crazy. I mean, wouldn't you if you were in her shoes? But what she learns is something all the more. Their story goes deeper, and only she can help save them and their people. Packed with steamy situations, lots of drama, and romance this series is perfect for lovers of this author's books, and those who enjoy steamy novels. I would have liked more intense drama with this series, because it got sluggish in areas which was frustrating. The steamy scenes are good, but they can't carry the storyline. 4 out of 5 stars
