***Evans teaches how to recognize and develop your God-blessed destiny***
Dr. Tony Evans, author, pastor and chaplain of the NBA Dallas Mavericks writes about individual calling, purpose and meaning in his new book—Destiny. Where he encourages readers to Let God use you like He Made You, the subtitle of his new release. Reading his words reminded me of Jeremiah 29:11 where God said, “For I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV)
Could that verse mean God created man for a predetermined plan and a purpose or like Pastor Evans writes, for a “special assignment…lived out in the power of the Spirit?” This man of God believes that it does. He uses 1936 Olympic Gold Medalist, Jesse Owens as an example.
Just as Owens set new world records and won Olympic Gold multiple times, “…as a believer, you have been called to run your race…to aim for the gold…” just like Owens did. Because “…living out your destiny is one of life’s most fulfilling experience,” writes Dr. Evans and that’s why he wrote Destiny. To mentor, encourage and equip men and women to realize God’s unique direction and provision for them. Not from a predetermined perspective, but from the perspective of free will, choices and personal responsibility.
Powerful word from God, to the man of God, for the people of God.
During my journey of my transformation fast, this book was my food. My spiritual gifts has been taken to another level. God would lay someone on my heart, I would go in prayer for them, after making contact I would pour into them what God has shown me, or what God had to tell them, it was always what they needed and the word was on time. I give God all the glory.
Knowing my true purpose and making sure I get to the place where God, has called me will allow others to see that God is able to make all grace abound. In this book Dr. Tony Evans, gives you insight on how to walk in your destiny. My soul has been uplifted, and my faith is stronger. I know, I was called and chosen, I'm a child of the King.

Looking for some guidance on your purpose for the Lord? This book has some easy to follow and helpful guidelines for what the Lord expects from those who are His. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I thought the book was easy to understand and follow. The writing was informative and not condescending at all. The examples used were helpful and added to the points the author was making about what is needed to fulfill your individual destiny. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for some advice on how to find meaning in their everyday life.
I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
This book is powerful. Author Tony Evans takes into account every aspect of a person's life and shows how God has made us exactly how He wants us to be. I especially enjoyed the chapters on Giftedness and Experience. God does have a calling on our lives, and in a way only Tony Evans can do, he allows us to see, in an understandable way, how God has molded us and is continually molding us to be the person He wants us to be - that is our DESTINY.
I enjoy the style of explanations and examples from scripture that Tony Evans uses in his books. I will give one sentence to sum up "Destiny" by Tony Evans.
"God is asking you to take hold of His hand and never let go because He knows where He is taking you."
Seek First His Kingdom and everything else will fall into place.
The language and terminology took a little getting used to, but overall an insightful and convicting perspective on duty and calling. This is more or less the text version of the "Called for a Purpose" sermon series. I like the actual sermons better, but if you don't have access, this is the next best thing.
Insightful book that encourages the reader to discover their destiny. We were created for a purpose and it's our call to discover that as we live out our lives on earth with God's guidance. Renewed my passion to fulfill my destiny.
