This is a nice, if not somewhat unnecessary resource to have. It outlines a wide variety of basic crafting techniques, from sewing to properly shopping for materials, and acts as a simple guide for the what and when of certain projects, but it's more of a supplement for pagans that does heavily focus on the Roman gods. I'm still into it and will definitely have to show some it to some of my witch friends (and then we'll have a witch-craft party).
Now i still need to get back to reading Spiral Dance and my mythology book.
I thought this was charming -- the sort of crafts that don't require a developed skill to do them well, with materials easily accessible from any local store. These would be great with kids or teenagers developing their own kit.
I’ve recreated many crafts from this inspirational 📖... So many fun things to create as a Solitary or Others... My nieces love ❤️ doing crafts as well... Very Highly Recommend this Slice of Happiness...
Craft ideas that allow for complete personalization for the DIY comfortable witch. Perfect for a young teen gathering setting up their own alters, or making gifts for a festival offering exchange.
Thanks to Llewellyn and Netgalley for letting me read this early!
This was the first time I've read a Wiccan/Pagan crafting book and I'm really pleased with this one! The book is divided into 2 parts. The first part goes over materials and when to craft certain items in correspondence with the months. The second part to the book has the 60 projects and the last chapter is about fixing mistakes.
I haven't gotten a chance to craft anything yet, but after reading the book over and looking at all the projects I know that I'll definitely be able to use a few of them. Some items are fundamental, such a a wand, or spoon, and most people already have them, but if you're just starting out with The Craft then those projects will be very helpful to you. On the other hand if you've always wanted to make your own magickal tools, but never knew where to start, then this book will be good for you as well.
None of the projects seems overly complicated, but some will require you to go out and collect materials/ buy them. None seem that they would be too expensive and I suggest thrifting to find some of them.
Lexa Olick makes this book really fun, and easy to create things for your Witchy home!
I was really not impressed with this book. It may be because I am already an avid crafter so my experience level is far beyond what was offered, but I found the projects bland and uninspiring. In addition, I've seen better tutorial versions of all of the crafts for free online. As if that weren't enough, the preachy, superior attitude throughout the book really rubbed me the wrong way. Great idea, poor execution.
I'm glad I didn't purchase this book, but checked it out from the library. I think there were maybe one or two crafts I would actually make from this book. Many of the projects are based on sculpting figures from clay.
A nice variety of craft projects. Some, admittedly, are a little hokey but there are some fun and inspiring projects too. Great for when you are looking for that special token to enhance your ritual or spiritual work. A great book to have in your collection especially for the beginner.
